I'm sorry. I'm very obviously new at this (that wasn't supposed to be sarcastic). Also, I just read into this a little more, and I hope to fix what I can, concerning formatting, ASAP.

Oh i didn't mean your arrangement.

It's kind of an inside joke here.

I also didn't mean my arrangement. It was something else entirely. . . Maybe we should forget this ever happened.

this is what he meant.

This is one of the better versions I've seen so far. You've got a few little problems here and there, but its a nice solid arrangement. Unfortunately, dynamics are required in a piece like this, as it already has dynamics. Also, towards the end I suggest revising the part where you merge the melody and counter melody. make them two, not one.

Oh, and if you were interested in having this on the site, you need to format your sheet like [This]. (http://www.ninsheetm.us/smf/index.php?topic=481.0)

EDIT: Also, if there's anything your finale won't let you do, or if you have any questions, send me a pm.(personal message) You can do so by clicking the little word bubble under a user's name. I'll be glad to help you out. :J

Thanks. That feels good for my first shared arrangement. I made the mistake of uploading a previous version, so I need to fix that. Also, I read that formatting page just a little while ago; that's what I was talking about earlier. I'm actually suppposed to be asleep, so I can't edit it right now. I've been using my 3DS to post. I'll be sure to work on that soon.

EDIT: Okay, I have the formatting fixed basically to a minimum because I want to change some things around first. Also, a couple of minor mistakes were fixed in the middle, and the end was changed to what I would really like it to be. Previously it was just a draft. One more thing that I did was excluding the 8 measures after the middle part (the measures were 51 - 58). They just didn't seem to fit. I still feel as if there should be more chords in the right hand. Anybody have any suggestions?

Question. I edited the original post and the name, but everything is still the same. I'm just adding new songs. On Gerudo Valley (I'm pretty sure that's the name, but there might be a 's) I am trying to get the repeating, lower rhythm correct, but I can't hear it distinctly enough. I narrowed it down to these three, but I don't really know past that. By the way, ignore the second half of the measure. I forgot to change that.

Thanks. I was thinking the same, but I couldn't be sure. Also, I currently have that pattern in the left hand repeating with different chords throughout most of the song, but I was thinking of changing that to dotted eighth; dotted eighth; eighth; dotted eighth; dotted eighth; eighth. This would replace the sixteenth notes in the left hand once the right hand is introduced with the main melody. I don't know how feasible it is for the random user to continue to play this rhythm throughout the entire song.

Finished Gerudo Valley. I have a couple of things I still want to add. Anybody reading this? I could use some feedback. . . or something.

By the way, is there a good way for me to convert the .mus file to a .pdf file? Finale said that you could save it as a PDF, but I couldn't find anything. I'm using NotePad 2012.

Aha! Thank you.

EDIT: I was looking through my computer, and I found a few old music files. I completely forgot that I had done this, but about 3 years ago I arranged Koopa's Road from Super Mario 64. It wasn't meant to be playable at all (unless you can reach 3 octaves with one hand and play sixteenth notes of the same note at 150 bpm), but it sounds pretty cool. I think I might change it around to be playable. To be clear, this is not a submission, I just couldn't find a good place to put it elsewhere on the website.
Koopa's Road (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/81425442/Unfinished/Koopa's%20Road.mus) (Outdated)

Also, I was fiddling with the piano and figured out how to play parts of this song. For all you Pirates of the Carribean fans. It's just basically a musical doodle. I will fix the composer asap. John Williams did not write this music. I don't know what I was thinking.

I added articulations to Gerudo Valley, and I fixed a few things in Ballad, so those are pretty decent for now. There's still a few notes I want to add in different sections of the right hand for Gerudo.

I'm working on The Sky now from Skyward Sword. There are a lot of triplets. I'm fairly sure it's in 4/4 and not 6/8 or 12/8, but could somebody give me a second opinion? Thanks.

As a final note, I'm fixing up Bowser's Road, but, having NotePad like a lame person, I can't put in the key change. If somebody would be kind enough to volunteer doing that for me once I'm finished it would be greatly appreciated.

Before starting an arrangement, be sure to check that it isn't already in progress. You can claim songs here (http://www.ninsheetm.us/smf/index.php?topic=3343.msg111329#msg111329). I am currently working on the sky from LoZSS.

Olimar.... you've been working on it for a quite a long time now.   ;)  Zunawe, Gerudo Valley sounds good, I like it better than the one on site.  Can't open Koopa's Road because of the computer I'm on right now, but I wanna hear that one too.  Keep up the good work!

Zunawe, you're going to hear this eventually if you talk to me, Dudeman, or Wilco.  Check out http://musescore.org/ (http://musescore.org/) MuseScore.  It's completely free, has almost all the capabilites of Finale, has a lot more capabilities than NotePad, and is just generally easier to write pieces with.

Oh yeah, and it's free.

Switch to MuseScore.

Olimar12345, everybody's least favorite party crasher.  :P
What I do is write the pieces with MuseScore and then run them through NotePad, so you still get the industry standard while enjoying the (coughcoughfargreatercoughcough) benefits of MuseScore.

I love this. Lol!

But yeah, it is a real drag that you can't change time and keys during a piece in notepad. Well actually I don't give a fuck about the key changing, but rarely do I stay in the same time sig throughout a piece!

Wow, a lot happened while I was gone.

Okay, I'll take a look at MuseScore again, but I tried it once, and I couldn't get used to it after using Finale for so long.

I haven't really been planning on making all of these arrangements for the website. If they get on, great! But I'm just arranging things that I want to arrange and people can look at them. I'm not trying to compete for anything, so go ahead and put up your version of The Sky, Olimar. Yes, I know this is submissions, but I'm looking for more feedback than music on the site.
Title: Re: Zunawe's Arrangements - Working on others now
Post by: Zunawe on May 27, 2012, 04:10:18 PM
I put up an unfinished "The Sky". It has most of the right hand and a little bit of the left. I'm fairly sure most of it is correct, but beats 3-4 of measure 2 in the right hand sound really weird. You can't hear them in the music from the game unless you have a program that can bring out certain lines. Would anybody verify that those are the right notes?

The accidentals in the first and last two measures should be flats I think, but I was confused with the key change in the latter third of the piece (need somebody to do that for me too, if he/she could).

Again, Olimar12345 has full credit for arranging this song first, as he claimed it. I just happened to put it up before him.

I'm starting to think I got the key wrong too. It should be Bb, not F. Grawr! I can't copy and paste it. It transposes the music. I don't like having just NotePad. I may switch to MuseScore, but I started this in NotePad, and I don't want to copy it over note by note.

EDIT: Never mind. I forgot about the MusicXML.

I agree that something isn't quite right in measure two; I haven't analyzed it thoroughly, but it sounds more minor than in game.  Olimar's going to jump in any second now and give you the notes he came up with.
Title: Re: Zunawe's Arrangements - Working on others now
Post by: Zunawe on May 27, 2012, 05:27:25 PM
I'm thinking that the F isn't related to the chord in the same way the other notes are. I'll fiddle with it a little. I fixed the key change (I'm 95% sure that there is one), and added some grace notes in MuseScore. I think that's how I'll use it, because I find it very difficult to use, and my computer, being annoyingly slow, makes a really odd sound when I try to play it back. I'll create what I can in NotePad, and then export it as a .xml, import it in MuseScore, add key changes, time sig changes, repeats, grace notes, et cetera, and export it and import it again.

By the way, the formatting got severely screwed up during the transfer. I don't know how to fix it.
Title: Re: Zunawe's Arrangements - Working on others now
Post by: TheZeldaPianist275 on May 27, 2012, 05:57:13 PM
Yeah, .xml will do that to ya.  I understand about MuseScore; I couldn't get used to Finale if I tried.  I would not be the person to ask about formatting error, as I know almost nothing about formatting Finale & NotePad.  Was it the transfer to MuseScore or back to NotePad that it got messed up on?
Title: Re: Zunawe's Arrangements - Working on others now
Post by: Zunawe on May 27, 2012, 06:16:45 PM
Both. There were random page breaks in MuseScore, and spacing issues in Finale.
Title: Re: Zunawe's Arrangements - Working on others now
Post by: TheZeldaPianist275 on May 27, 2012, 06:26:40 PM
I'm not sure there's any way around that; Finale and MuseScore are different enough that strange things happen when you try to mix them.  Sorry I can't help   :-[

In my version the first two measures are the four chords, Gmaj, AMaj, BbMaj, Db7. Then it resolves to CMaj in measure 3.

Post by: Zunawe on May 28, 2012, 09:11:18 PM
Hmm. . . I'm not the best with music theory, so I don't quite know what the chords should be. I do know that the most prominent notes are, in order, B Db(C#) D F. I think it might sound a little closer to the game if you put those notes on the top and move the rest down an octave? Just speculating. I do agree that the 7th fits better there.
Title: Re: Zunawe's Arrangements - NEW: Gerudo Valley - IN PROGRESS: The Sky

All of those notes are the 3rds of my chords. They are correct.
Title: Re: Zunawe's Arrangements - NEW: Gerudo Valley - IN PROGRESS: The Sky
Post by: Zunawe on May 29, 2012, 03:26:37 PM
I knew they were the thirds, you told me the chords. Anyway, I changed the first and last two measures around again. The fourth half note in the left hand is now an inverted Db7. Basically, all the chords that you mentioned, I used, but inverted.

Took a break from The Sky because I got distracted by another piece. Middle Boss Battle from OoT.

I am 90% sure that it's in the key of D minor, but it's so chromatic that adding a key signature makes it really freaking confusing to look at. Which one would be better?

Measures 8-10: Is there a better way to do that. I mean visually, not the audio in Finale.

(This has been finalized)

[N64] The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - "Middle Boss Battle" [MUS] (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/81425442/Finished/Ocarina%20of%20Time/Middle%20Boss%20Battle/Middle%20Boss%20Battle.mus)

Editing:
Gerudo Valley: Adding some chords and making the articulations more accurate.

In Progress:
Wild Pokemon Battle (Heartgold/Soulsilver): I would like confirmation of any kind that measures 15 and 16 are completely chromatic in the runs. (Except for the very last note in measure 16) I can't slow it down enough to hear.
   Middle Boss Battle: Finishing touches.
Bowser's Road: Trying to figure out why a certain part sounds odd. Then cleaning up the left hand, and eventually adding a key change.

Suspended:

I've been cleaning my finished arrangements, and I still have some work to do. Once that's done I'll either finish Wild Pokemon Battle from HGSS or Omen of Towering Death from DQIX. I finally have some time now that marching band is over.

If anybody would like to be my best buddy ever they could possibly help me format my sheets. Dumb notepad makes me create things like the copyright by myself. That means that it's not centered. That bothers me. All I need is somebody to basically make a blank sheet, put in all the required info, but in Finale's actual template, and then copy in my music. Also, things like 8va's that are real would be nice. If you have the time, it would be greatly appreciated.
