Is anyone else excited for Animal Crossing: New Leaf? I can't wait, considering several factors:
1. I loved the other games in the Animal Crossing series, particularly Wild World. I enjoyed Wild World mostly due to its being on a handheld system, which I feel is better for the series.
2. The graphics look beautiful and even better than City Folk.
3. What I've heard of the new music is quaint and catchy, just like the other entries.
4. They're keeping many of the same elements while changing up the game a LOT more than Wild World and City Folk did.
5. Did I mention I love Animal Crossing?
Animal Crossing is easily the best game of its kind, and I love how it's a game that gives you reason to play every day.
Also, fans might find this interesting: Nintendo is really giving New Leaf a lot of press. You can follow @animalcrossing on Twitter for news on the game, and Nintendo is publishing a series of videos called "Inside the Treehouse" in which the localization team discusses different aspects of the game. Because it's the localization team, they're not exactly great in front of the camera, but it's interesting anyway. I'll post them here if you guys are interested in watching them.

You guys might be interested to know IGN gave Animal Crossing New Leaf a 9.6, and although IGN is known for overhyping Nintendo, it's worth noting that this is the same score they gave Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, other fantastic games. It even scored higher than my favorite Nintendo 3DS Game, Virtue's Last Reward, which got a 9.5. Unless I'm mistaken, Animal Crossing is their highest-rated 3DS game thus far.

@ Kefka totally agree, and imo, it's not worth it. It's one of those games you can't just come back to after setting it down for a while. It requires so much upkeep that I don't even bother anymore.

Also, Tortimer Island is a shitload of fun. In other news, I have grown to love all the ugly animals in my town, and I think Koriko is becoming a great place to live, with the new fountain almost paid for and all the residents happy.

I love Nintendo's sense of humor.
Today was the Bug Off for me (I'm not sure if events like that have linked dates for all the games) and I won, attended the ceremony and got my trophy. I stopped playing, and when I just went back on all my villagers including Nat said that no one attended the ceremony so it was cancelled, and the bulletin board didn't have me as a winner. At first I thought I forgot to save, but I still had my trophy in my pockets :/

Also get the Bell Boom ordinance to make your profits skyrocket. A trip to the island filling the box for me nets me about 100,000-300,000 bells, depending on what I catch.

I just got this game, and I'm still figuring it out... I just shook a pine tree and got attacked by a swarm of bees. >.>
haha when you see a bee hive fall down a tree...either quickly go into a house or get your net prepare to capture those little pests
Solution: make sure that when you press the D pad, your net is the one that will be equipped. Stand at the upper left part of the tree when you shake it. If a hive falls out, immediately press left or right on the d-pad, and swing your net downward immediately.

If you have the turnip prices in Re-Tail of like 200-400 bells, you should share it.
Also, if you just run north, use X to access your inventory then select your net, it will automatically make you face south, saving you the time of turning around, plus giving you more time to prepare for the bees.
That works best for me since I have slow reflexes, LOL. And I really want to ensure that I catch the bees, considering how much they're worth.

Theres some things that you cant do while your gates are closed, like anything with your mayor duties behind Isabelle and donating to the museum. Also, I learned from experience that if you crash while renovating your town, all your progress gets lost -.-

Confirmed island beetles are hilariously broken. You just walk in circles for 10 minutes (at worst) and make 200k.

You can find them on the island on palm trees I think. They're hard to catch.
Yeah, golden stags at night look kind of brownish-black and they're super sensitive, so you have to move super slowly.

If you look closely at the beetles you'll see them squirming back and forth. When you see them stop moving they're about to fly off, but if you stand still for a bit they'll reset back to squirming. Just a way to tell if you're moving too slow or whatnot.. though I've just done a stop and go sort of thing with them.

I'm glad I already caught them both and donated them to the museum so I wont have to worry about them anymore. Soft shelled turtle was pretty hard to catch. I hunted for about 40 minutes until I caught it. Still haven't caught petaltail dragonfly and I think that it's the only bug I'm missing so far.
I can't believe this but the game is actually getting a bit boring already. I thought that the wi-fi would be active since the game just got released but there are usually no gates open. It's still fun playing this with my little sister, irl friends and even alone. The minigames are a lot of fun.
Yeah, New Leaf doesn't have such a hold on me anymore. I finished my fossils, and I'm getting lazy with bugs and fish. I got perfect town, a golden watering can, all my emotions filled... there's only so much I can do until seasonal changes.
I agree. I also recently got all the fossils to my museum and now I don't even have the motivation to dig fossils up anymore. I also got the perfect town status for 15 days but I had to do a lot of public works projects to get the status. It's so much easier to get the perfect town status in this game than in the earlier games. I also got the last emotion a week ago and now I don't even have to go to Club Lol anymore. The only things to do daily is to water my flowers, visit the shops and work in the café but I'm too lazy to even do that anymore.
Well, the good thing is that now I have time to play some other games as well.

I think animal crossing is a good game to kill sometime. Like 30mins to shop, water flowers and do some work around yah town. xD

I agree. In the Wii's Animal Crossing, the text boxes were on the screen long enough for you to read them even if you were going to a house or something. In this game they are on the screen for about 3 seconds, so if you are having the black screen of waiting (going to a building/going out of a building) and somemone says something in the middle of it, you will never know that someone said anything.

it's actually really easy to catch up in this game and they don't guilt you as hard as in the GCN version
you can always pay 10k to remove all the weeds
