Kickstarter launches tomorrow at 5pm BST!! (9AM PDT, 12PM EDT, 4PM GMT)
And check this Vine out with 5 seconds of one of Grant Kirkhope's new tunes.... oh my god the nostalgia
https://vine.co/v/e7Jip3Igt63
I KNOW, RIGHT?!?!
MY LIFE
IT HAS MEANING AGAIN
I will seriously buy an 8th gen console just for this.
(And for Zelda U ofc, but that's in year who-knows-when)
Hurhur, ukelele.
I can't even express how happy I am that Grant Kirkhope is doing the music.
Grant is easily my most favorite VG composer, and if he wasn't working on this with the rest of the ex-Rare gang I'd have been very sad.
I am definitely buying this game!!!!!

Easily. Grant Kirkhope and Koji Kondo are tied for my favorites in my book :)

Anyway, this kickstarter will probably beat Mighty #9's fundraising totals.
Oh, I don't doubt it.
The code name was Project Ukulele...and the title is Yooka-Laylee.
Honestly, I don't know what I was expecting.

OH MY GOD
O.o
The kickstarter hasn't even been out an hour and it's already over the goal
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/playtonic/yooka-laylee-a-3d-platformer-rare-vival
$324,000 right now.
Looks like I know what I'm getting for my birthday next year.
I want that cartridge. It just had to be $500+...
Man, if I had $8 grand to blow on this...
Went straight for the Digital Deluxe with Toybox , but am highly considering getting the physical deluxe edition. What's making me hesitate right now is that it's double the price :B
I'll be getting the physical deluxe, fortunately they're not going anywhere so I can wait until payday to get it.
Also At this rate it's already going to reach double funding within 2 hours of starting. I predict this thing will raise somewhere in the ball-park of a million dollars by the end of it's first week.
At this rate, I think it will reach a million pounds. It's quite remarkable, really.
It'll probably hit several million by the time it's finished.
Needless to say Playtonic will have a little spending money for the future.
I did mean in the first week. Sorry for not specifying.
Obviously most of the "stretch goals" are really just feature teases and they expected to go far beyond their original goal, but neat to see regardless :P
dear lord. This kickstarter has been out for like 2 hours now and it already has 200% of its goal. That's insane. And it still has like over a month to get more donations and stuff. I really want to donate to this D:
Watching the donations pile up every single second by hundreds of dollars is extremely entertaining.
Oh wow, after listening to the samples they have on the kickstarter, I'm reeeal excited/intrigued for how Wise and Kirkhope are going to be working on the same game. The two tracks are really contrasting; after listening to Kirkhope's, I was kind of expecting Wise to move more toward Kirkhope's style and at least base it on a similar theme, but it remained really distinct in a lot of ways. Sure, they're still in progress, and I'm sure they're eventually going to make some sort of compromise on a more cohesive vision, but it's still going to be really interesting to how see their stylistic differences play out.
I'm probably also going for the physical deluxe edition eventually. I know there's no limit on the amount of backers for that, but is there any risk of that becoming unavailable before the June 17 end date?
Most kickstarters usually cap off any physical rewards (aside from physical copies of games in some cases) after the fundraising ends. That said if they promise it during the campaign they are usually obligated to deliver what they promised in exchange for payment, a fact reinforced by most sales and trade laws around the globe. So no, you can get all the promised awards for as long as they were originally offered.
As far as the two music giants working together are concerned, they're probably very aware of each other's styles (they did work together for decades, after all; Grant even adapted some of Dave's music for some GB ports), but since they want this game to basically be Banjo-Kazooie in everything but name, odds are Dave will cater more towards Grant's style in the aim of achieving a cohesive sound.
Holy cow!
It's already at 535,000!!! :)
Can't wait! :)
This is like a dream come true, it really is.

421% funded and 45 days left.
Oh my.
Christ, these people never stop.
I wonder when the game will be released. At the current rate, this game will be on every platform on day one. Can't wait to have a good new Wii U game to play.
I've noticed most of the promised goals say October 2016, though we probably won't get a hard date until this winter at the earliest. Likely by next spring.

Orchestral score? Oh baby.
The only way that could be made better if the orchestra was the Berlin Philharmonic.
Best bet is either a Czech orchestra or the LSO.
Oh lord, an orchestrated score? OH LORDY. HAVE MERCY ON MY SOUL. GOOD LORDY ME.
It's funny how this doesn't actually sound extremely different XD Grant really isn't that concerned with getting the shiniest new sound libraries (possibly intentionally for the nostalgia effect), so it's gonna be really interesting to see how it turns out with live orchestra.
It might be for the nostalgia effect, but with a live orchestra... it'll be something.

Great interview, thought I'd share it.
So, they plan to put in the names of everyone who contributed money to their Kickstart campaign, eh? All 48,482 of them to date? ...Wow, just watching the credits will consume as much time as playing the game. XD
Maybe it'll just be like, super tiny font as it scrolls along.
So, by a show of hands, who all donated money to the kickstarter? I'm pretty curious.
It saves me from having to buy it later.

I beg to differ. I'm going to one of two special schools in ALL of Canada.
Also, back on the topic of Yooka Laylee, anyone else think Yooka is a complete ripoff of Yoshi? I mean, it has a tongue grapple just like Yoshi, green and red just like Yoshi, has red spikes all the way down its head like Yoshi, starts with Y like Yoshi, and it carries someone on its back...like Yoshi...
It's supposed to be based off of Banjo-Kazooie.

The Banjo-Kazooie remix for Jungle World is pretty cool.

Also, I just had a thought. I think that the "Jungle World" might be the hub world...?
The Lair (Kazooie)
The Isle (Tooie)
The Jungle (Laylee)
Idk.....
I don't think so? It seemed like the Jungle World was the world in which they actually showed gameplay (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY_otBmc6po), which would not make it a hub world. But who knows? Anything could happen before the actual release. :P
Awesome

Yup. It will be available for all current consoles.
Toybox is out! I 100% it :>
Too bad I didn't back :/
How's the Toybox?
The music, the transitions, the moves, the bits of writing, and the platforming are all fantastically nostalgic and absolutely make me feel like I'm playing the modern banjo-threeie. It's a bit slippery and not totally polished but that's to be expected of a "pre-alpha" level build.

And the worlds are GINORMOUS. There are 200 of those quills in each world, and there were only 100 notes in each Banjo-Kazooie world. I don't know if that's after you expand the world or not though.
I am hype, but going to hold off any reading/viewing any further material past the Toybox. I'm going to take a weekend when it shows up and love every minute.
As nice as it looks, it just looks not unlike all those "zelda reimagined in unreal engine" videos. It feels like .... a very vanila game engine. I don't know how else to describe it.
if you're just talking about the engine, imo comparing it to unreal engine is a compliment. If you mean the game looks like nothing but a physics engine, oh, I didn't get that impression
I think it looks pretty sweet.
