I saw this it's first showing at 12:00 a.m. It was easily one of the greatest super hero movies of all time. The Joker, played by Heath Ledger, raised the image of the joker beyond it's original image from the comic series and the old movies. I was nearly 2 1/2 hours long, but definitely worth it. I'd suggest definitely watching this.
yea it said in the paper that Heath did a real good job has the joker... it looks pretty good.. i'll probaly go see it sometime when it's not so crowded..
Too bad Heath Ledger died of an accidental presciption drug overdose back in January.'sighs'
I saw the movie and it was GENIUS!! I loved it!! It was so EPIC to see the Joker in that movie ;D
Joker will never be the same, though.
The only problem with the movie is this: There's no blood. The bank guy in the beginning who was shot should have had a pool of blood when the Joker spoke to him.
Besides that, one of the best movies ever.
Yeah, meh pg-13, oh well.
Easily one of the best movies ever made.
I think they hit the right level of violence. When the joker was threatening to cut that guy I really didn't want them showing it, gore isn't my thing like that 8)
Dammit, why didn't I see this topic already?! Fuck, I'll go delete my post.
Heath Ledger totally kicks Jack Nicholson's ass out of the park when it comes to playing the Joker.
The Joker is by far the most badass villain ever.

Yeah. Burn the music to a CD, and then put the files on your CD onto your computer, they will be MP3's
Riddler better be in the next one.

The hospital scene. Best part of the movie. Or, at least, funniest to me.
dammit why do they have to ruin all the fun? >:( The pencil trick is the most badass thing ever.

wow gamer. *Goes and watches it* but no serioiusly wow.
Just search on youtube, you'll find all the great joker moments.
I don't know if you guys are having this problem but on my computer it restarts about 25 minutes into the movie.
movie quality could be alot better. (on the internet)
Dude, the movie has been out for a week. This is some of the best you're going to get. Of course the version I have from a torrent is far superior to this one, but streaming this is one of the best videos there are.
That movie was more epic than this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=37ER1zpg_F4)

How do you guys do those clips?
Save/convert a video file as a gif. Some video editors do it, and you can usually convert something like an avi online at several places.
ok, i just saw the movie 2 day, and i must say, its the most kickass movie out there
it's official. Moviefone rated Heath Ledger's Joker the 5th best villian of all time. Guess who was first? Lord Voltimort. WTF is that about? The Joker kicks his ass out of the park any day!
Heath Ledger wan't bald. They always stereotype with the people with no hair... :P

I didn't. ;)
What are you talking about?
Voldemort was bald, Heath Ledger wasn't.
Oh, yeah, i was watching Inside Edition or something close to it and the Riddler is supposed to be in the next Batman movie, as well as to be played by Johnny Depp.
On the topic of Johnny Depp, my mom actually knows him personally. She's a nurse and often cares for his mom when she comes into the hospital, and he's always outside smoking or just hanging around the hospital, so she gets to talk to him from time to time.
Yeah because the man that plays Voldemort is actually Voldemort.
Quote from: Gamer4250 on August 01, 2008, 07:32:39 PMYeah because the man that plays Voldemort is actually Voldemort.
shut up ;) i dont know who Voldemort was played by, i know the Heath Ledger played the Joker, so i didn't think it mattered.
Jim Carey will always be the best Riddler.
Quote from: SuperFireKirby on August 02, 2008, 03:55:00 PMJim Carey will always be the best Riddler.
Just like Jack Nicholson was supposed to always be the best Joker.
:-\
I think Johnny Depp would do very well. He is a really great actor.
Johnny Depp as Riddler would be interesting. I know there's a number of people considering and showing interest in the role. I think Riddler's supposed to be in the next one.
Quote from: SuperFireKirby on August 02, 2008, 03:55:00 PMJim Carey will always be the best Riddler.
absolutly- but, then again, no matter who jim carrey is, he'll always be the best
Very true.
yes i liked hem in batman and robbin,
i wanna see this show soooooooooooooo bad!!!
Yes.
Quote from: SuperFireKirby on August 02, 2008, 03:55:00 PMJim Carey will always be the best Riddler.
No. Jim Carey will always be the best Jim Carey. No matter the role he gets, he plays himself, not the character. Anyways they're talking about Riddler and Penguin for the next movie, don't know if it will happen though, I hope there won't be Penguin. There are so many more interesting villains other than Penguin like Harley Quinn. Hell, I'd bring back Ra's Al Ghul since in the comics he's "immortal" (as in very long lifespan). I would have loved to see a lot more of the Scarecrow though or than other villain from Dark Knight before they fucked him up (I don't want to give any spoilers).
I saw Dark Knight last night. FUCKING AMAZING!!!! Best movie I've seen in a long time and that says a lot because I'm a movie guy. The Joker completely surpassed my expectations with Ledger's brilliant interpretation and the brilliant story they gave him, yet at the same time exactly what I hope for, a really twisted, insane but very intelligent Joker rather than a murdering clown (Jack Nicholson's Joker). I think I'll go see it again next week. Seriously, if it doesn't win best movie of the year, I lose all hope in the industry. Hopefully the gigantic success of this movie will make the next movie just as good and will give me hope for a revamp of Superman just like they did for Batman Begins.
I actually did not like Jim Carrey as Riddler. I don't think of the riddler as a comic relief-esqued character that devises plots, but more of a mastermind with a pinch of secret quality that is sensed throughout his character. I think if Riddler is at all done in the same style as Joker was in The Dark Knight, it'll be perfect for how I imagine Riddler.
The Dark Knight is amazing. end of discussion.
I've seen it twice and it will probably be one of the only movies I will actually buy instead of just download.

Of course until it is released on DVD I will download it so I can watch it again. :)
And then go see it in IMAX.
Woo.
I'm going to see it in Imax this weekend! It's gonna be crazy!
I would love to see it in IMAX, but im too lazy to go to the nearest IMAX (halfway across the state) and no one 'sides me wanted to see it again (they are usually one time movie-goers, my family). My friend might take me, but i dont think he will even though he loved it. Btw, we're going to Star Wars tomorrow
Like 30 years later there.
Mike: what?
Quote from: Gamer4250 on August 14, 2008, 08:22:04 PMMike: what?
I'm assuming he means Gooch is about 30 years too late to see Star Wars. Mike means the original. Gooch obviously means the new Clone Wars Animated piece of...so hard not to swear....sh...garbage.
The new star wars will suck. It will suck sobad you goona wish it didn't suck so bad.
According to all critics, the new star wars movie is a big piece of shit. It could actually be worse than the new trilogy. But this is the wrong topic, make a star wars one if you want to talk about this.
Stop de-railing my topic, fools. More Dark Knight Discussion.
I finally got a copy of the Batman from 1989... I like the Dark Knight's joker better.
He doesn't creep me out as much but I still want to blast his head off. (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffiguremasterles.tripod.com%2Fsitebuildercontent%2Fsitebuilderpictures%2F.pond%2Fjoke004.jpg.w300h440.jpg&hash=fa0071ae6b963a7508bd63190300adc2e052bded) |

And that.
Jack Nicholson still played the part very well. even though now he's overshadowed by Heath Ledger's Joker.
Jack Nicholson had the attitude right, but the writing for him is horrible. First, Joe Chill murdered Bruce's parents, not Jack Napier (Joker). Second, they made him way too comical and Clownish for such a dark movie. That Joker would have been good in a movie for a younger audience. Finally, Tim Burton knows shit about comics and himself he admitted it because he was never able to read them properly.
Wait a minute. Tim Burton wrote the script for the Batman movie?
Yes he did. Then after Batman Returns Joel Schumacher took up directing the next two movies after it (which, according to a friend, is why Michael Keaton stopped playing as Batman in the movies).
Hmmm... I never knew that.
Yeah and of course Schumacher had to put nipples on the costumes.
TeeHee
*puts hand to mouth and giggles at such a silly but true statement*
Oh fuck yes! Warner Bros is so happy at the response to Dark Knight that they just announced the next Superman movie will be darker the same way they did with the new Batman series and they want to make 8 more comic book movies.
Superman returns sucked. And I mean IT SUCKED.
The writing was bad and it felt way too much like a nod to the old movies by adding humor and pretty much making Brandon Routh the same as Christopher Reeve, but the ambiance of the movie was a step in the right direction. Sadly Superman didn't even throw a single punch.
Superman ain't all that super anymore.

Edit: This was a rickroll. This post has been edited to remove the stupidity...
The Dark Knight was pretty good, but I was a bit disappointed in it due to all the hype. =/
Nonetheless, the Joker was pretty creepy.
GAAAA!!!!!!! I only got to see part of it, and now I dieing to see all of it!!!!! GAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!sa;kfhjierhisenlabhbaeg......
This movie was so over-rated. ::)
Um, no. It was a great film. Not like amazing and perfect, but nobody said it was.
Quote from: Gamer4250 on December 29, 2008, 08:39:11 AMUm, no. It was a great film. Not like amazing and perfect, but nobody said it was.
It
was a good movie, I didn't say it wasn't. And there have been plenty of people (maybe not on this site) that
have said it was perfect.
I said that in response to the post above my previous one, I was just kind of like, "Meh, over-rated," when I came out of the theater.
I loved the dark knight so much, I mean if you saw it after everyone else had told you it was perfect then I understand your disappointment. That has happened to me far too many times, but I saw The Dark Knight at midnight and Im a Batman fanatic so to me it was one of the best movies I've seen.
I would say it isn't overrated.
Rarely am I able to see a movie more than once and still enjoy it at all.
great movie. end of story
I loved it! But it was a bit overrated...
looks like Dahans revived this but yeah it was a little over-rated. But f everyone had put on as good of a performance as Heath Ledger, it WOULD have been perfect.
The Joker was fantastic :D
And Two-Face was cool to see.
But now, the comics have killed Batman. *Sniff*
And they killed 3 robins. WHEN WILL THE SLAUGHTER END???
But you'd expect a rich person such as Bruce to have some sex, a child, and after 50 years POSSIBLY ANOTHER BATMAN???
That's how they'd revive him. I BET
Or they'll just say: "Oh, he wasn't really dead! We just made everybody sad for 30 weeks cause he was frikken' hibernating and the sun made him regenerate and come back!!!" Like Superman. >:(
Wow. I want to read more marvel comics.
Actually, I don't know if they publish them in the UK. I'm a fan of the movies, and when I was little the cartoons, but i've never seen a DC or Marvel comic in my newsagent. Which sucks.
Superman died about 30 years ago.
I dunno why they kill them off, or at least re-start the series. I mean, they could milk some more cash out of the series that way.
Dark Knight Returns was a great comic.
Quote from: Tranzlater on May 25, 2009, 07:14:06 AMI dunno why they kill them off, or at least re-start the series. I mean, they could milk some more cash out of the series that way.
They
always restart the series. Everybody comes back. 'Cept Capt. America.
Yes, because he was gay.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST CAPT AMERICA? YOU'RE A TRAITOR TO YOUR COUNTRY!
Wait, you're from the UK, aren't you?
.........
I can understand your dislike, then. Something like 'Admiral Britain' probably wouldn't be very good, either.
Admiral Britain. I like it. In fact, I like it alot.
NO. NO ADMIRAL BRITAIN. I WAS JUST BEING RETHORICAL. DO NOT TAKE THAT SERIOUSLY I BEG OF YOU.
Stop derailing this topic; that's what the Post Your Thoughts on the Moment Thread 2 is for. Talk about the Dark Knight here.
Back on topic: I think that the Dark Knight was awesome, and... that's really all I have to say.
The guy who played the Joker was sooo awesome.
That was Heath Ledger. He's dead though. :'(
Yeah. He OD'd on a prescription from his doctor. Simple mistake, tragic outcome. That was January of '08, I think.
My brother thinks he OD'd on crazy pills given to him during the filming of the Dark Knight.
Officially, it was a prescription mistake. In reality, though, I have no idea what happened...
Jan '08? But the movie came out 6 months later... wouldn't they still be filming?
No they wouldn't. It takes about half a year after filming the movie to add in special effects, negogiate with theaters, and create trailers and other advertisements.
Half the movies you are looking foward to next year are already done filming.
Yeah... but still... premiers, voiceovers... and he did die about six months before the movie came out. They must have missed some scenes.
My theory is that the original plan for the next movie was for the Joker to escape, but since Ledger died... well you get the idea.
Actually I'm fairly sure they just waited for the summer because they wanted Batman to be a "summer blockbuster" of sorts.
Special effects and everything else you listed doesn't take that long for other movies with similar amounts of editing necessary, so I wouldn't think it'd take 6 months for The Dark Knight.
That is true.
They finished filming T2 3 months before release, and that had incredible effects.
