Tell your fellow arrangers(if you know where or how to contact them) to wake back up and start coming back! I'm going to be doing weekly updates for as long as time permits, and those who aren't lurking about the forums might miss their chance to clear out those month and month(possibly year) old submissions! Come on! With all of your help we can make this "weekly update" idea/fantasy a reality.
~McNakah
Or, if people aren't submitting you can go through individual topics like we used to do it. That way you can delete topics if people are inactive and have arrangements that were accepted.

Yes, this is also a reasonable way to do it. Maybe even do a "necro-update" and start at the back to clean out the logs.
That just speaks of hours and hours of searching, and while I don't necessarily object to that, I'd like to try and avoid it and keep things at a neat pace. For now I'd rather keep things the way they're going to let the arrangers that are still around to regain their morale.
Oh, I agree, it's just that some people will likely never be back and it couldn't hurt to clear some of that gunk out.
Get rid of the space for those who are actually going to use it then. Don't complain "its hard to go through", it's not going to get better until you do something about it.

Want to help with that then? It's enough work to just make the update when the songs are right there for you, but searching for old sheets that didn't see an update is going to make the process much longer. I never said I was objected to it, but I'd like to try and get the current arrangers going again first before I delve into the older stuff. If you think you can bring around 10-20 sheets into the thread or link me to these threads that would help a whole lot.
I'm not complaining about it. ;)
Or, you could warn everyone ahead of time to copy their topics, then delete everything in the submissions forum. Would definitely clean out a bunch of crap.
Quote from: HugoMeister on April 15, 2010, 06:42:11 PMI'm not complaining about it. ;)
I know. Really though, 3 updaters may be enough when the forum is afloat and constantly moving, but when it's backed up like it is now we are in definite need of some extra assistance if we want to get things up to date by next july at the rate it is.
I don't care, I'll do it either way just not at the moment. I want to kickstart the current arrangers, then go back to the forgotten sheets, then work my way back up to present.
As far as looking through the old arrangements is concerned, many of them aren't that great and need fixing up (I spent an afternoon looking through all of them once). If we fix up some of the old ones, do we submit them as our own in the submission topic or seperately under the original arrangers name or what?
Only if you fix them up and somehow make it your own. You can't copy another arranger's work.
Of course it's still the original arranger's work, I didn't mean that. I meant do we submit it as one of the 3 we're allowed to submit or does it count as an extra? Or do we just not bother.
I'll have time later today to go through a bit of old submission threads. I'll edit this post with the links that are still active (I'll start with the oldest threads), and a list of other not-on-site-arrangements that were done, but never submitted, but the links expired. I haven't been around much, but I know some of you guys have, and if you still have contact with the gone members, you can urge them to come back, just to refresh the links.
Sounds okay?
Okay, here goes.
Link means, obviously, unsubmitted arrangement (http://www.ninsheetm.us)
Red colour means unarranged song, but dead link
Blue text is for my own comments
I won't list rejected arrangements, promised arrangements (as in, there were never any links), or songs already arranged (unless the links are active).
If said links are active, I'll post them. Even though it's sometimes glaringly obvious which version is the best, I'll let you decide.

Umm, what about submitting some-one elses arrangements for them, so we get the arrangements up, but then you can get rid of their submission thread, so that work isn't wasted if they never come back, but it would clean it up?
As long as we bring these old sheets to the surface then it won't matter that their threads are there. I don't see any need in deleting threads since the active ones will just push them down, and this way if these arrangers ever do decide to return then they will have their old thread to go back to.
Okay, new page appeared while I was writing, so I'll just put this here:
I've revised page 6 and 7 of the submission forum, gone through the topics and picked songs that might be of interest in some fashion. It's all on the previous page.
EDIT: Did page 5 as well. I found my own posts in the newest of the threads, and from I joined on, we started the tradition with submission threads. Still, there probably are some nuggets in the pages from there on.
Alrighty, thank you for the tremendous effort in getting these songs to the surface. I know have something to do in my spare time(which is quite often now). I'll update the thread with progress.

I'm really not in the mood for this. Attempting to be defiant towards me won't make a difference, and will just lessen my interest in letting this go. I usually don't have any problems with you or what you post, but I know you've most definitely had your share of warnings in the past. It's no use trying to fight for the upper hand, because I'll just hand you the three day ban for not turning the other way(even if you do feel like you're not at fault).
The problem here is that you're being an ignorant fool. Any moderately intelligent person would realize that your stating that you have tons of free time is a status that is directly opposite to many users here now. You should also know that my saying "yeah fuck you too" is just a friendly jab at the fact that you poking about how you have free time is essentially saying "fuck you" to everyone here that has nearly no free time whatsoever. Also, no rules were even broken, the "being a jerk" rule is if I were to go out of my way to abuse you or some shit, not just some standard "ah fuck you".
So please, stop being such a bitch and think about it for a minute.
No, the real problem is that you've made it a point to continue your argument when I had already backed off the ban. The intended joke was perfectly clear to me after re-reading your first post that I was going to ban you for. Not everyone is going to see your sarcasm as you do, and if you were just looking to make a non-contributing jab at a moderator then you chose the wrong thread. I take things a bit more seriously in the Submission's forum than others perhaps because it deals with things that directly affect the site and it's purpose. I'm not going to tolerate needless vulgarity in this section of the forums.
Your stance is very predictable when it comes to things like this. When someone scolds something you have done and you feel it's ridiculous, you immediately engage in making them look like a fool. Doing so to any staff member is never a good decision. The fact that you have gone so far after I had ceased shows immense immaturity, and you should have contacted me outside of this thread to prove your point rather than attempt to make me a fool publicly.
Seriously, stop trying to be such a prototypical sarcastic forum member. There is a time and place for things like this, and you quarreled at the wrong one. See you in three days.

It's best not to form a bad habit anyway.
Damn, something happened!
For once.
So, on another note. Who's going to go through all the sheets that have been "revived"?
Oh wait, what?
I'm going to be looking at them throughout the next few weeks. We can probably split that list up into sections and all tackle separate parts to make this go by faster.
If you want, of course, I could always help you if you want it done even faster...
I'm down.
I'll take all the help I can get if you feel you can legitimately critique and fix the sheets.
I'm kinda halfway through fixing up Koradas' arrangement of K.K. Etude. I'll put it in the submission topic when I'm done.
If you haven't already (you probably have), make sure to PM and email if possible all the members that have actual arrangements that could be submitted. For instance, random_goldfish was last online only last month, and has her email posted, so it's likely you could get her to come submit something.

Ooo, fixing the sheets? damn... sorry.
Quote from: Davey on April 17, 2010, 04:38:04 PMYou shouldn't involve personal feelings in making moderation decisions,
you should just base it off of "Is what this user did really wrong" based on your knowledge of Right and Wrong.
Ultimately, Right and Wrong are based on what we learn and think, which kinda involves personal feelings, i.e. opinions.
Pointing out the errors in music is helping enough, anything is helping me so long as you review the sheets and let me know what is going on.
cool, so where should I start? The very back of the submission forums?
^Page 1 in this very topic. I made a list of useful/interesting arrangements from the last three pages in this forum. Much of it is dead links, some of the active links are songs that are already on site (check them), and we could try to contact some of the gone members to see if they can reupload their dead links (or yet better, return). PianoMan and Requiem in particular looked like they had a lot to contribute with.
4-D also has a few revisions that can be found here: http://www.ninsheetm.us/smf/index.php?topic=1443.msg27242#msg27242 (http://www.ninsheetm.us/smf/index.php?topic=1443.msg27242#msg27242)
We may as well delete the old links if there's no way to recover those sheets. That would allow us to minimize the list to active links and split it up equally.
I'm not following this.
Are we submitting other people's sheets for them as they're away?
Are we trying to contact those people?
Are we simply alerting staff of the sheets?
Would someone please enlighten me?
^
Yes
Hopefully, somebody will do that too
That as well
Hopefully, I did.

Well, this should be okay, because, Hell Prominence is the Japanese name of the level, like Wind Garden (Gusty Garden) or Grass Beach (Beach Bowl).
I never understood why we put it up with the Japanese name, but whatever. :P
No reason to, it will just confuse people. Some dumb weeaboo will whine about some shit, but this IS an English language site so we SHOULD have the English version.
hmm, I dunno :P I always felt like sticking to the more traditional name... but then that would mean a whole lot of converting...
Melty Molten it is! :P
It sounds more suiting and professional as Hell Prominence, but I agree we should keep the English version to avoid confusion and match the rest of the songs.
So then there's also "The Girl's Sadness" or something like that...
