Unofficial Deltarune Arrangement Thread
Toby Fox's new game got a demo last week (as I'm sure most of you know by now!) and like with Undertale before it I'm sensing an interest in the OST from our community. With that in mind, I've decided to set up and maintain a thread to help arrangers to not trip over each other (and also to give everyone who's excited about this OST a place to offer feedback and discuss!) When the rest of the OST comes out, I'll update this thread with the new music.
I'll try to pop in occasionally to offer feedback, but I'm pretty busy with other stuff at the moment so don't expect
too much from me (but you guys can take that as an opportunity to help each other out! :P ) Also, a general thing to keep in mind: I know that with a new OST, it can be tempting to try to get arrangements out as fast as possible, but remember
quality > quantity; there's no rush, especially with a system in place for claiming things.

Also... I wasn't actually going to arrange anything but seeing all of the excitement has made me want to join in. I'm going to claim The Legend but it might take me a little while as I'm preoccupied by other stuff at the moment.

This is an awesome sheet, Greg, but I personally hear it in F#, not G. It's a little hard to tell, because the song's a little off key, but does anyone else agree?

I looked at the frequencies of some of the notes. It is indeed closer to F# (although it's almost exactly in the middle), but G is significantly easier to play so that's what I went with. (Be pretty easy to change though if a lot of people hear F#...)

The point of claiming things (and half of the purpose of this entire thread) is to avoid people arranging the same piece. It'd be better to claim one of the tracks that hasn't been claimed yet and then have a go at it, especially with regards to helping us complete the entire OST.

I was going to bring this up. Question is: Is "Before the Story" actually
heard in this game? From my knowledge, it was unused until
Undertale's PlayStation 4 menu.

Before the Story is exclusive to the PS4 version of Undertale I believe (I don't think it shows up in the switch release?)
Outside of that, it's the file select theme for Deltarune.
So.. it
does appear in both, and it first was shown in something related to undertale, but not in the actual game unlike deltarune.. *shrugs*
I'm all for moving "Before the Story" to Deltarune if we decide to go by the Bandcamp albums; it's not in Undertale's (which includes unused songs like "Song That Might Play When You Fight Sans") but it is in Deltarune's. Anyone here with me?

I'm in.
I'd normally go for putting it in the first game where it appears, but if it only appears in the PS4 version and outside of the actual game then I think it'd make more sense to put it with Deltarune since it has an actual in-game appearance. And also Levi's point about it appearing in the Deltarune album but not in the Undertale album.
In the mean-time I've updated the OP to include it as on site by PlayfulPiano.

Because I don't do songs like this hardly ever, I may or may not have taken a few creative liberties here, so please don't hesitate to ask me questions.
P.S: Psst, Libera, change my "Empty Town" to Submission Green.
Looks nice. The left hand should be in bass clef from the start though rather than switching after the pick-up. Also, pieces with a pick-up have a tendency to end with the same number of beats in the pick-up missing from the end (as is the case here) and it's customary to remove those beats. You can just have the time signature change to 2/4 for the final bar and then hide the time signature.

Yes, this is actual music in the game which plays when you mess with the save file to put yourself in a room that doesn't exist. Undertale had the same thing, but the music that plays in Deltarune is much more notable.

Maelstrom had already claimed that one ... but I'm not sure whether he is going to be getting to it anytime soon so maybe he's cool with you taking it. That being said, I don't think I've seen any arrangements from you yet, so it's nice to see arrangements from someone new (at least to me!).
With regards to the arrangement, I've got a couple of comments.
-You haven't included the main driving rhythm in the original anywhere in the arrangement, so your version sounds a little strange without it. I'd consider reworking the left hand part to include that.
-Also the left hand part includes some very unorthodox beaming that I can't clearly see the purpose of. I don't see any reason not to just use standard beaming of quavers in 4/4 here.

With regards to the arrangement, I've got a couple of comments.
-You haven't included the main driving rhythm in the original anywhere in the arrangement, so your version sounds a little strange without it. I'd consider reworking the left hand part to include that.
-Also the left hand part includes some very unorthodox beaming that I can't clearly see the purpose of. I don't see any reason not to just use standard beaming of quavers in 4/4 here.

-I'm assuming you're talking about the bouncing base line. I've tried versions with it included but this one was both easier to play and imo sounds fine when you play it on a keyboard. If you got any ideas that won't make it too difficult though, I'm an open dart board.
-That voice is subdivided by three (or maybe 50% speed was just playing tricks on me.) I originally had it in like 16/8 but that caused more problems than just beaming it weirdly in 4/4. Regardless, I do want the performer to play them as "triplets."

I know it's a bit late to be doing Deltarune stuff, but I said I would do these, and now here they are. Let me know what you guys think - I tried something different with "THE HOLY" specifically.

THE HOLY looks interesting. It might be worth making it more explicit where each hand is playing what; I can see that it does work, but I just think it could be a little confusing on a first read.

Yeah, I guess it does a bit. I used JDMEK's Ezio's Family (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/download/pdf/2933) arrangement as a basis for how to do 3-staff arrangements.

Ah I see: well if you look at that arrangement you'll see that JDMEK5 does make it clear where the hands are meant to go (bar 7 and then another marking at bar 29).

They work pretty well as far as I can see. Funny to see things done so fast haha.
Regarding teased tracks that Toby Fox has released or may release in the future, I think that it would be best to hold them from submissions until we see the finished product. For one, hosting sheets on site for a game that doesn't exist seems a bit weird, but more importantly these tracks have a good chance of changing when they actually end up in the game. Another thing to remember is that he said that he would release the rest of Deltarune all at once rather than in chapters (like he did the first one). I'll update this thread with the new stuff when the final product comes out, or if he changes his mind and does release more chapter(s) separately.

Sorry, I was a bit unclear, absolutely it's fine to post them in here. I just think we shouldn't put up things on site for stuff that hasn't been released. I wasn't around for that Octopath sheet, and if I had been I would have argued similarly against it being put up. If the music does change on release then it's much harder to get a sheet edited if the sheet is already on-site and it probably ends up with the updaters having to check something twice.
But yeah please don't feel like I'm telling you not to post them here, you 100% can and should post them here; I'm just not going to update the OP until I get an official tracklist, which is hopefully alright with you guys.
