Title: Replacements Update
Post by: mastersuperfan on May 30, 2020, 05:48:10 PM
Hello and welcome back again to another special NSM arrangement project! This time around, the theme (as decided by you all) is REPLACEMENTS!

To streamline the process and organize feedback, we'll be doing things a little differently from the last project. Here's what you should do if you're interested in participating:

Personal Arranger Threads: This time, everyone will have a separate arranger thread in order to segregate feedback more effectively. Here's what you should do:

Uploading Sheets: This time, all participating arrangers will directly upload and edit their submissions to the Dropbox folder. Here's what you should do:

To avoid overlap between arrangers: Since we anticipate this being a fairly active project, please post in this thread which sheets you're planning on replacing, and check what others have posted as well. This way, we can minimize the incidence of multiple arrangers replacing the same sheet.

Deadline: We need to receive all submissions by (Saturday, June 13th) to ensure that we can check all the sheets in time.

Happy arranging, everyone!

DROPBOX FOLDER OF SHEETS (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rkgm38qqa3mgel1/AABIEAXjwH2fPNyd1r97JU8ma?dl=0)  (view-only; PM Latios for editing access)

As some of you may know, I have a thread (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/index.php?topic=8899.0) where I have been keeping track of NSM's, uh, not-so-good sheets ons-site. I call it The Great NSM Audit™. You can read more about it in the thread I made specifically for it, but long story short: the more cells vertically a given sheet takes up in the table, the worse off it is.

Here's a direct link to the table for those that want it. (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1n-QDB7P4yjHuiwp2Zm8qnZU0SlSHfPMAaJ3JhCdoIcA/edit?usp=sharing)

With that said, I have a few suggestions of games that I think people should look through right away:
There's obviously way more games & series to go through, but this should get you started. Happy replacing!

I have a bunch of miscellaneous things I either have done or would like to do across a bunch of the games you mentioned above, plus some others. I'll update this probably tomorrow with what I'm shooting for :)

Right now, I have a ton of replacements I'd like to put towards the original Mega Man (which is in terrible shape), along with a few more from other franchises. With any luck, we can take the former right off the spreadsheet by the end of this!

I will be finishing up the Super Mario Kart OST, except for Koopa Beach (if I recall, Nine Lives has an arrangement of it). I'll also be doing basically as much of the FFI through VI soundtracks as I can get to. I might do some other stuff, but this is what I'll focus on.

I'd also like to tentatively claim:
All the Mother 3 songs on the sheet
MGS2 - Main Theme
I'll fix up my MGS1 encounter theme to be good enough
Catastrophe in Bhava-Agra ~ Wonderful Heaven
If I have time:
Smiles and Tears
Sanctuary Fortress
Mega man that's left over

Finished:
Pokey Means Business
Terra's Theme
Spirit of Avarice
Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial

I will try to get done as many Ace Attorney replacements as I can, unless there are any that someone else would like to do. This includes:

Tentatively also thinking about doing (but may not get around to):

Super Mario Land 2 - Overworld
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Hoohoo Village
New Super Mario Bros - Toad House (on site as Background Select)

Here's a list of all the replacements I currently have, just so no one accidentally does them unknowingly:
I already have Mach Rider in my thread - I'll be going through my other stuff and fixing them up before submitting them.

  • Earthworm Jim - Falling (Buttville ~ The Descent)
Wouldn't that be "Slug for a Butt (Buttville ~ The Queen's Lair)?" That's the one on-site.

If/when I officially submit it, it'll be under a different name then what's currently on-site. That particular song I've seen under a bunch of different names, so discussion as to its actual name will probably happen.

Just gonna quote the lists from my recently-made thread, so anyone here can see:

I only bring it up because it's a completely different song. "Slug for a Butt" (https://youtu.be/q8tmzbSHre8) | "Falling" (https://youtu.be/AabdxJx5tDE)
I know these are the PC tracks, but it's the same for the Genesis and SNES.

I'd like to work on the following sheets:

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - The Grand Finale (on site as Final Bowser)
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - The Grand Finale (Two Pianos) (on site as Final Battle)
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time - Elder Princess Shroob Battle

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Cackletta, the Fiercest Foe (on site as Cackletta's Theme)
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Showdown with Cackletta! (on site as Cackletta Battle Final)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Green Star (on site as World 1 Map Version #2) (@Latios212 Could I take on this?)

Rubikium - sure go ahead for Green Star!

For The Grand Finale though, I don't think the two pianos one needs to be replaced. Definitely the solo though needs to be redone completely

The two pianos one will probably only need format fixes, but I put this because this will technically be a replacement

Yeah, edit replacements are fine for this update, provided the original was in relatively good shape. I have 2 of that type done already, although they had heavy revisions.

As a reminder (everyone), you should just upload your files directly to the Dropbox folder (instead of maintaining links to files in your submission post). The OP ideally would be just a listing of tracks and links to their sources.

I'll be working on a replacement for the following sheets:

Since Diddy Kong Racing was mentioned, I think I may take on that series to do the formatting fixes, but I may try for more than just that if I feel the need to. If anyone's gonna do full rearrangements of them though, let me know! After that, I might go for more of the other Donkey Kong series sheets that aren't already claimed.

I will hopefully find the time to make replacements for the remaining in-need sheets for Final Fantasy X (Auron's Theme and Bravely Forward) as well as some sheets for Final Fantasy VIII (Don't Be Afraid, Force Your Way, Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec and perhaps even Liberi Fatali).

Doing these replacements. To be frank, I should have submitted the first one a long time ago:

I will focus on Melee and then Tales of Symphonia if I have the time. The only sheets from the Melee section I noticed that need revisions (aside from basic text stuff) are:

However, I don't know if Bespinben and Yug_Guy still have Fountain of Dreams and Icicle Mountain completed or partially completed respectively. I'll avoid those 2 for now, and if I finish the other 3 before receiving confirmation about the statuses of those then I have plenty to choose from Tales of Symphonia

I started scribbling some stuff down for Flat Zone a while back, but didn't really think it was going anywhere nice. Feel free to do whatever you want with this file (I don't think I got these chords at the end right).

I'd like to do these replacements:

Ground Theme (Brawl)
Purple Comet
Space Junk Galaxy (Edit, on site as "Space Junk Road")
Cosmic Cove Galaxy
Snowman (on site as "In Winters, There is a Genius")
A Flash of Memory
Tac Challenge

I also have an in-progress version of Bumper Crop Bump, so if Levi ends up not being able to do it I can take that one as well.

Anyway, now that most of my previous replacements are now in this project, I'll claim two songs from Goldeneye:
The arrangements we have on-site for Goldeneye are a joke. They're written in Comic sans for pete's sake!

Also, Sebastian actually has some additional replacements (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/index.php?topic=4911.msg331030#msg331030) for Goldeneye. Anyone wanna message him and ask if we can add them to this update?

Go for it. I've had my eye on that sheet for a while, but if you've already got an in-progress draft going there's no need for me to start my own.

Since the guys at work found me a new planting job, I've been employed all week, and especially busy. I may not have the time to take on most of the sheets I haven't started, but I will make sure to replace Kid Icarus's "Title Screen" first.
