Title: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas 2022! Day 12: Bug Fables (Again)
Post by: cacabish on June 23, 2020, 02:20:53 PM
Welcome to cacabish's Arrangements Thread!

Hello! Here you can find all my arrangements of various pieces of video game music!
Please note that I am still very much a novice when it comes to arranging, thus, I am always looking for ways to improve and grow, so, if you have suggestions or comments any for the pieces below, feel free to let me know!

Legend

Black TitleOn-site. The corresponding links will go to the on-site files. Enjoy!
Green TitleNot on-site yet. These pieces are almost ready for submission and may just need small revisions. I'd appreciate second opinions and feedback on these particular pieces!
Yellow TitleIn submissions. Check the submissions thread for the posted piece!
Orange TitleNot on-site yet. These pieces have a ways to go before submission and likely need major revisions or reworking. Play and examine at your own risk!
Strikethrough TitleObsolete or replaced. May these sheets rest in peace.

Note: Sheets are organized first by series alphabetically, then by game alphabetically, then by title alphabetically. One-off or uncategorized pieces will be at the bottom under "Miscellaneous".

Now, without further ado, enjoy the music!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi and welcome :) You're off to a really great start with these sheets - much better than when I first started, that's for sure! Hope you enjoy the site and learn a lot from other arrangers here.

Thanks! I appreciate the welcome and the compliment! :D
I am certainly looking forward to learning a lot from the people here. There are whole layers of music that I've never known about before now and I'm sure the rabbit hole is very, very deep.

With the new year, I've resolved to try to post more sheets that I keep nitpicking to death and keep trying to perfect all by myself. This will hopefully motivate to do more arrangements, post more often, and submit more often! :D

To kick things off, here's probably the most difficult arrangement to play that I've done so far. And, unsurprisingly, it's from a Mario Party game.
(And yes, I actually corrected all the staccatos in the .mus when exporting from Finale v26 this time, with the power of automation!)

Look at that! An arrangement from a different Mario Party (not necessarily a good one, but a different one nonetheless)!
This piece was nice, simple, and straightforward to arrange! Which probably means I've done something wrong...

Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - New: Mario Party 4 - The Boo House
Post by: cacabish on January 28, 2021, 04:40:33 PM
This piece was what I was originally planning on submitting for last year's Halloween Project, but I decided to challenge myself with a much longer piece, "Boo's Haunted Bash". Nevertheless, this is a super short piece and was pretty easy to arrange! ;D
However, I ran into some spacing issues with the arpeggios when importing into Finale v26. I've tried to mitigate them, but I'm not sure if what I've done is sufficient. :-\

After a few months off due to school and learning more about formatting & MuseScore, I've got a new sheet from shock, shock a Mario Party game!
While this music plays on the board named "Bowser's Magma Mountain", the song is actually just called "Magma Mountain" according to the in-game jukebox.

Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas! Day 1: Mario & Luigi
Post by: cacabish on December 14, 2021, 07:37:11 PM
So, this year I've decided to try the 12 days of Sheetsmas where I post an arrangement (good, bad, or ugly) every day for 12 days straight! :D Yeeeeeah, we'll see how long this lasts. Place your bets now.
At the very least, this will help me get some of my dusty sheets in a more "finished" state and that's nice, so whether I make it or not, it won't be for nothing!

First up! A game that I really enjoyed despite being the king of "missed opportunities": Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam! This is actually one of the first 3DS games I ever bought. A crossover between Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario is such a fantastic idea! Too bad it's 85% Mario & Luigi, 7% Koopalings, and the rest is Paper Toads...
Anyway, here's the main battle music that plays throughout. As usual, the Mario & Luigi series doesn't disappoint in the awesome music department. 8)

Day 1:
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam - "Mixed-Up Scramble"
[PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/jwdvxik0p32tcr0/Mixed-Up%20Scramble.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/m5y9tgicvib6okv/Mixed-Up%20Scramble.mid?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/g9cyqhe1j9tz612/Mixed-Up%20Scramble.mus?dl=0) [MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/lgiwrkyutvpze5t/Mixed-Up%20Scramble.musx?dl=0)

Oh boy. What to do for tomorrow?
Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas! Day 2: Bug Fables
Post by: cacabish on December 15, 2021, 01:28:31 PM
Now for another sheet from a wonderful game that I quite enjoyed, Bug Fables! While I would contend the soundtrack isn't earth-shattering, it's still really good and, as a love letter to the OG Paper Marios, I feel there is still a lot of that original Paper Mario charm in this music. :)
Anyway, this is the song that plays whenever you return to Crisbee (the lovable chubby bee chef) and you want them to cook you a Crisbee Donut. Or 12. Or other food. That too. And, believe me, you ALWAYS want Crisbee Donuts in this game. If you aren't packing at least like 8 of them, you're wrong. :P

Day 2:
Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling - "Make it Crisbee!"
[PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ujenrqgstago9lu/Make%20it%20Crisbee%21.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/2cps831mqcmpnyx/Make%20it%20Crisbee%21.mid?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/9xa1qxvb4dtsgmg/Make%20it%20Crisbee%21.mus?dl=0) [MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/4vvpt9cly8gg5k8/Make%20it%20Crisbee%21.musx?dl=0)

Day 2, but how long can this last?
Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas! Day 3: Trails of Cold Steel IV
Post by: cacabish on December 16, 2021, 10:30:30 AM
Third on my Christmas-motivated sheet posting extravaganza is a song from a series you might not have heard about (unless you've been introduced by Maelstrom) -- the epic conclusion of the Trails of Cold Steel tetralogy: Trails of Cold Steel IV. This game is the pinnacle of the buildup over the previous three games and I would warn you to avoid any and all spoilers for this game -- you should experience it for yourself. ;)

This is one of the main pieces and primarily plays whenever there is a cutscene with some plot exposition. Since the whole game is set in a very oppressive environment, this song fits really sells the impending doom, despair, and hopelessness. However, what I love most about it are the chords. This song is in a minor key (that's a big plus for me) and it has chords going everywhere! But they all flow so well that you barely notice how crazy some of them become. In fact, I'm not completely certain of the key signatures because of the heavy use of accidentals. But I still love it and makes for an epic piece at the end of an epic series. :)

Day 3:
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV - "In the Darkness of Ignorance"
[PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/agbh3h90eadbvmx/In%20the%20Darkness%20of%20Ignorance.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/i57racixg7mmtg5/In%20the%20Darkness%20of%20Ignorance.mid?dl=0) [MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/tbw5edah3kcfhk1/In%20the%20Darkness%20of%20Ignorance.musx?dl=0)
(.mus file is unavailable due to a bug with how Finale v26 exports accidentals on overlapping voices)

Over the 3 day hump! Now only 9 more to go...
Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas! Day 4: Mario Party 9
Post by: cacabish on December 17, 2021, 12:25:48 PM
Well, we made it three whole days without any Mario Party sheets from me, which means I need to change that! :P This one is from one of the infamous "Car-io Party" games: Mario Party 9.

The Museum in this game functions as the place where you can spend your Mario Party points to buy constellations, extra cars, music, etc. It's got this nice classical-inspired piano duet and that helps sell that this is a museum -- just in case it wasn't obvious. Anyway, enjoy! :)

Day 4:
Mario Party 9 - "Museum"
[PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/1d4ww19f7e0tpzo/Museum.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/hfd51cdgyy7ailw/Museum.mid?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/n2k2lme78m3tuxd/Museum.mus?dl=0) [MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/qe9k3srb1g1e9hy/Museum.musx?dl=0)

I instantly recognised this one and was confused because I've never played this game, but then I remembered that Levi made a sheet of this ages ago (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/index.php?topic=8959.msg414663#msg414663) and I offered some feedback on it back then.

You can look at my posts to get similar feedback if you want, but the main takeaway is that I really don't think this is in 4/4 throughout.  Particularly those repeated three bar phrase sections make more sense in 3/4 to me.  I guess you can compare and think about it yourself.  I won't say too much in this busy arranging period...

Good luck with the remaining eight sheets!

I was wondering if anyone else had done it; it's a really simple song and I was surprised to find it not on the site yet. Nonetheless, thanks for bringing this to my attention! There is some good feedback there that I can definitely use to help my sheet in case I ever elect to submit this sheet.

Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas! Day 5: Luigi's Mansion 3
Post by: cacabish on December 18, 2021, 08:07:27 AM
What do mean Halloween was 1.5 months ago? Anyway, that's no excuse for not doing a Luigi's Mansion 3 sheet! For this one, I wasn't sure of the title. Some OSTs have its subtitle as the "Vestibule", others have it as the "(Distant Piano)", so I decided to pull out my copy of Luigi's Mansion 3 (metaphorically, of course, because I have the digital version) and check the in-game music player to see what's called and apparently it's just subtitled "Track 1". So yeah. That's apparently what it's called. :-\

Anyway, this song has some major (no pun intended) "Moonlight Sonata Mvt. 1" vibes, so I borrowed the tempo marking "Adagio sostenuto" from that piece. Also, a really cool detail is you can actually see the piano in the game playing this song note-for-note, which I thought was really cool (but then again, Luigi's Mansion 3 is the king of having small details). Finally, given the simplicity of this sheet, I am 99% sure somebody's already arranged this; it's just sitting around in an arrangement thread somewhere. :P

Day 5:
Luigi's Mansion 3 - "The Great Stage - Track 1"
[PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/038fl63sop1yhwq/The%20Great%20Stage%20-%20Track%201.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/l5vonlw72xsptz2/The%20Great%20Stage%20-%20Track%201.mid?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/yo5wvipx27tvvjo/The%20Great%20Stage%20-%20Track%201.mus?dl=0) [MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/csmj7tvy5r29j5g/The%20Great%20Stage%20-%20Track%201.musx?dl=0)

I quite like the number 5.
Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas! Day 6: Animal Crossing: Wild World
Post by: cacabish on December 19, 2021, 02:00:28 PM
Time for an Animal Crossing sheet! Specifically, a K.K. Slider song: Steep Hill! The aircheck version of this song is already on the site (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/browse/series/AnimalCrossing#sheet4404), so I decided to do the live version of this song. And, yes, technically this song first appeared in Doubutsu no Mori e+ not Wild World, but (a) I don't want to sound pretentious, (b) the song was only available by scanning an e-Reader card in a Japan-only game, and (c) the aircheck is listed under Wild World on the site and they have always been together in every game they've appeared in. So yeah, that's my logic. :P

This is one of my favorite K.K. songs. More often than not, a lot of his "sad" songs really aren't all that sad. This one, on the other hand, hits real hard in the feels. While the aircheck version is good, I feel all the "sadness" that exists is zapped away because the tempo is about 25% faster, it's bouncier, and has an electric guitar, among other things. With this version, I feel you can really let the true emotion of the piece shine a lot brighter due to its simplicity and slower tempo. Enjoy! :D

Day 6:
Animal Crossing: Wild World - "Steep Hill"
[PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/iy12bd0rvifty2x/Steep%20Hill.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/kmcnd6lkrfriyc1/Steep%20Hill.mid?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/wi0mvx3658lh89i/Steep%20Hill.mus?dl=0) [MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/rwr90g7rpgmxzpw/Steep%20Hill.musx?dl=0)

Always glad to see more classic Animal Crossing sheets around here, this looks really good. The e+ aircheck for this particular track actually is slightly different to later iterations, with the guitar accompaniment played longer/legato instead of staccato. It hasn't been posted anywhere online, so I guess you'll have to take my word on it though... You could theoretically arrange it and submit it if you wanted.

I agree with your game title for this, I think it makes sense to only use the Japan titles for tracks exclusive to those releases, otherwise like the entire GC soundtrack would be under DnM on N64 (except for the Kapp'n songs which are different from those in DnM+). All of the "new" K.K. tracks in WW were first in e+, and K.K. Birthday was as well, though unobtainable.

Just some trivia for you lol

Huh, fascinating. Given that I'm not a huge fan of the current aircheck, you've got me curious of what it sounds like. However, if I ever wanted to pursue that and/or arrange it, I guess I would probably seek out a romhack of it and go from there. (This is a hypothetical pls don't sue me Nintendo.)

Glad to hear your approval! And your logic makes sense. Funnily enough, I was tempted to ask you to fact-check this before I posted. But given that this is part of a "quantity-over-quality" sheet-posting event, I decided that I could do that and correct it later, especially if and when I would decide to get serious about submitting this. But you've saved me the trouble! :P
However, I was wondering if you knew who actually composed it. I ask because the aircheck has a documented composer, but the live version does not (at least, none that I could find). I have a hunch I know who it is based on my readings, but even then, it lacks any factual basis and would necessitate a logical leap at some point. But, at the the end of the day, it's really a minor issue compared to the actual content of the sheet.

Interesting! I kept seeing the results of this in my research and thought it was curious, but I didn't realize the full scope of it. :o Always happy to hear some Animal Crossing trivia, especially since I'm a relative latecomer to the series (or most series, for that matter). :)

This track is composed by Toru Minegishi (as all of the K.K. songs from ACGC/e+/WW are). The live versions are arranged by Kazumi Totaka (the aircheck versions were written first). I would put it in the sheet like that, with the separate arranger listing, or you could just do "Composed by Toru Minegishi & Kazumi Totaka".

There's a list put together from various interviews and soundtrack listings that I can send you if you want. AC composer credits are hard to find.

So I was right! This is exactly what I had pieced together based on what I read (at least in the case of "Steep Hill", that is), but I wasn't sure of which was composed first. Anyway, thanks to that, I have updated the sheets to reflect that. Thanks! ;D

This is a little fun game compilation on the Switch that has a mix of good games and why-are-these-here games: Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics!

Ever wanted to play a simple game of Concentration/Matching on your Switch? No?
Even with Mario-themed cards? Still no?
Well, how about playing it, but on your piano! Ha! That's the ticket!
8)
(There is actually a piano included in the collection you can play in handheld mode. No, you couldn't play this sheet on that. Too small.)

Drums! Yes, this song has a one-measure-long drum solo just before the repeat and instead of leaving it blank, I decided to add the drum part. Now, I don't play drums nor do I know all the ins and outs of drum playing, so this is all just my best attempt at transcribing what I hear (as everything I write is). :P

Post by: cacabish on December 21, 2021, 02:26:49 PM
A sheet from a cooking game for the holidays. How festive! Except it's Overcooked! 2 so it's anything but peaceful. I love both this game and the original and I love playing them with my friends! Optimization and cooking: this game speaks to me on a personal level.

Anyway, this is the main theme that plays on the main menu. It's a callback to the original's theme, which had basically the same instrumentation, but was more somber. Also, there is an arpeggio every measure! And Finale hates arpeggios! So, I spent like an hour just correcting arpeggios! What fun!

More Mario Party! :D This is probably my favorite victory theme (at least from the N64 Mario Party games) and it was nice and short, so why not arrange it?

I'm not exactly sure of the title of this piece (since it doesn't appear in the in-game music player), so I went with a title that I found that best summarized what this piece was for. If I come across the actual title (or a better title), I will retitle it. :)

Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas! Day 10: Ace Attorney 3
Post by: cacabish on December 23, 2021, 12:28:15 PM
Ace Attorney time! Specifically, the recollection theme from the 3rd game, 4th case. I find this one to be very powerful and it hits hard right when it needs to.

Since this song has no official translation, there are no shortage of fan-translated titles for it. According to the Ace Attorney wiki (https://aceattorney.fandom.com/wiki/Reminiscences_-_The_View_from_Dusky_Bridge) (SPOILER WARNING), there are 4 different prefixes ("Recollection", "Reminiscence", "Reminiscing", "Reminiscences") and 7 different titles that fans have used more-or-less interchangeably. Nominally, that means there are 28 different possible full titles for this piece! So, I have no idea what's the correct title. I'm just sticking with the title on the .wav file I've been using to arrange from (which is one of the 28 combinations). ???

Speaking of 28, according to MuseScore, I've been working on this sheet off-and-on for about 28 months now (coincidence, I assure you). Unfortunately, the devil is in the details with this sheet, so it's taken me a long time. However, while I couldn't consider it even remotely perfect, I'm at least satisfied that it has risen to some personal degree of "finished"-ness to justify posting it. Enjoy! :)

Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas! Day 11: Paper Mario: Color Splash
Post by: cacabish on December 24, 2021, 05:18:56 PM
Merry Christmas Eve! :)

This time, Paper Mario: Color Splash - the one with the paint and the many, many Paper Toads! I really like this power-up theme as it gets your heart racing and blood pumping, which is fair because it only lasts 20 seconds. This version is the nonstandard version, with no accelerando or pitching up as the timer expires and instead just infinitely repeats. I did do an arrangement of the standard version, but it's just a joke at that point, so I'm not posting that one here.

This sheet I actually forgot about and originally arranged in July of 2019. So yeah. Had to wipe the dust off. :P

Day 11:
Paper Mario: Color Splash - "Unfurl Power"
[PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/keuiu201fz6hcay/Unfurl%20Power.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/1bf0djk3kiafovo/Unfurl%20Power.mid?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/71ayr9ycgzu9ffu/Unfurl%20Power.mus?dl=0) [MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/u9e8mjcqahjmh8v/Unfurl%20Power.musx?dl=0)

1 day left!
Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas! Day 12: Bug Fables (Again)
Post by: cacabish on December 25, 2021, 04:55:51 PM
Merry Christmas Everyone! :D

For the final sheet of this rapid-sheet-posting extravaganza, I originally had a different sheet in the works, but it's still in need of some heavy work, so it won't be posted today. However, what's more Christmas-y than bugs? Mice, apparently. Cute bugs, too! How does that make bugs relate to Christmas? That's right, another Bug Fables sheet because why not! :)

I actually did this one today in a just a couple hours because of how nice and straightforward it is (I had some extra time after family). It's a wonderful jig that is very reminiscent of the sea shanties of old. Don't blame me if it gets stuck in your head! :P

Day 12:
Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling - "The Sailors' Pier"
[PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/q0ej29fyn0t81c6/The%20Sailors%27%20Pier.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/fqq3ngdq1rjcb26/The%20Sailors%27%20Pier.mid?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/orcsnlo1qos0c3x/The%20Sailors%27%20Pier.mus?dl=0) [MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/i6qy4ak84eld3gs/The%20Sailors%27%20Pier.musx?dl=0)

And with that, I conclude my first-ever 12 Days of Sheetsmas! I honestly can't believe I made it all 12 days, but it was certainly an interesting experience going rapid-fire like this. If I get enough mostly-finished sheets lying around waiting to be finished this time next year, I might consider doing one next year. Maybe.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who looked at my totally-not-rushed sheets and I hope you all have a very merry Christmas! ❤️

Post by: cacabish on March 03, 2022, 09:59:11 AM
It's time for more Mario Party (it's always time for more Mario Party)! This sheet is already on the site (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/download/pdf/521), but is in need of replacement, so this is my candidate for possibly replacing it!

A couple notes: First, I'm almost certain the song is in 3/4 (primarily due to the tempo), but it could also be seen as flipping back-and-forth between 3/4 and 6/8 groupings. Second, I'm not 100% on the key. I put A major and there's clearly a bit of A major/A minor flipping happening throughout, but it's possible there is a strict key change to A minor at some point in the piece, or that the whole piece can be looked as in A minor. However, given that the piece is so short, I don't think it matters that much. Anyway, enjoy!

Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - New: Megami Tensei I - Daedalus
Post by: cacabish on April 25, 2022, 10:53:07 AM
Just because I'm neck-deep in end-of-school stuff, doesn't mean I can't arrange something! Especially when it's simple! ;D

Full Disclosure: I know practically nothing about the Megami Tensei series. I only know about this song from a couple Super Mario World Romhacks that use it as background music (you can check out that rendition here (https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=15799)). I also know there are other versions of this song in sequels and remakes (which I would argue are better than this simple 8-bit version), but I've gone with the original here because... it's the original. So, if you are an avid fan of the series, feel free to share any any all inaccuracies I've made with this sheet with me -- just don't expect me to gush about it like you. ;)

Anyway, I'm not really sure why I like this song; I just... do. I think it's likely because (a) it's in a minor key, which I like, and (b) it sounds a lot like the stuff I personally compose (usually in minor, repetitive, with descending bass lines). Regardless, I hope you like it too! :D

Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas 2022! Day 1: Trails in the Sky
Post by: cacabish on December 14, 2022, 05:30:33 PM
I've been quite busy this year with graduating university and starting my first "real" job, so, this year I'll, once again, be doing the 12 days of Sheetsmas where I post an arrangement (good, bad, or hopefully-only-mildly ugly) every day for 12 days straight! :D
Most of these will be sheets I've had lying around needing to be finished and this is the perfect opportunity to get them over the finish line. I will not be imposing any extra rules like only one per game/series/console because I'm boring like that. Just 12 arrangements, posted daily. :P

Aaaaand here we go! I recently started playing through the Trails in the Sky subseries of the The Legend of Heroes series and finished the first and second chapters this year, with the third waiting on the Steam Winter Sale! The soundtrack overall is pretty good, but one of the leitmotifs, "The Whereabouts of Light", is just absolutely gorgeous and forms the melody for this piece, arranged beautifully and sentimentally for piano. Enjoy! :)

Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas 2022! Day 2: Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Post by: cacabish on December 15, 2022, 06:12:24 PM
Time for some Animal Crossing! I'm a big fan of the new game, and whilst I believe New Leaf has the best music of the entire series, New Horizons has got some fun pieces too! This one plays while you're exercising with your villagers, which is a fun little daily activity you can do and a nice callback to the original Animal Crossing. Having listened to it for 50+ times, I've wanted to play it on piano and, after not finding an arrangement that was completely accurate, I decided to arrange it myself! :)

And yeah, this one was a bit annoying to arrange because of the narrator's nattering. And there's no version that I could find without it. :(

Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas 2022! Day 3: Mario Party 9
Post by: cacabish on December 16, 2022, 05:21:25 PM
Of course, if you know, I'm a big fan of the Mario Party OSTs, so it was only a matter of time before a Mario Party piece made it's debut this Sheetsmas. And today's the day!

While I can harp on Mario Party 9 for sounding a bit too "New-Super-Mario-Bros-ish" sometimes, the melody here for this piece is nice & simple and loaded with beautiful color tones, making for a nice, well-rounded piano piece... as you admire all the pity points you earned sitting in a car.

Post by: cacabish on December 17, 2022, 04:10:58 PM
Bug Fables! It's a really fun game with some good music and I've always like Kut's theme. In fact, it was one of the first songs I bought from the in-game music performer and I listened to it in-game for quite a while. I like the minor key and how it just matches his stuck-up, master-chef personality. Enjoy this spicy piece!

Post by: cacabish on December 18, 2022, 06:16:17 PM
More Mario Party! I'm always down for more Mario Party, and the early ones have quite the musical charm to them. This is a simple sheet and is already on the site (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/browse/series/MarioParty#sheet1767), but in need of replacement, so this might serve as a suitable replacement down the road. Anyway, enjoy! :D

Back to more of Trails in the Sky! Like I said, duplicates were going to be allowed because I'm boring like that. And besides, this game is very recent in my head and the music's great! What more do you want?

This was actually the first piece I arranged from Trails in the Sky, but it kinda just sat around because the cross-staff beaming needed (and still needs) some work. But for now, enjoy this cozy piece!

EHHHHH?! What's this??? TWO pieces for today???

Yup! Two versions of the same song! :D This is one of my more favorite K.K. songs (I really should rank them one day...) as I like this kind-of "hymnal" style of music. And, given that it seems this one is sorely lacking in the popularity department, I decided to try my hand at arranging them both as I enjoy both the live version and the aircheck. I might do the music box versions later, but for now, this is good enough.

I will say, I'm sure there's a clever way to use repeats for the live version, but I couldn't find anything I was happy with. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough, but if I did submit it, it'd be the first thing on the docket to address. Anyway, enjoy this unique Sheetsmas experience of THE DOUBLE!  8)

Post by: cacabish on December 21, 2022, 06:03:47 PM
Even more Mario Party! So much party! This is one of my more-favorite pieces from Mario Party 9. It has generic "Mario music" written all over it with the with the use of the I, IV, V, bVI, and bVII, but it does have a fun Bb/C chord near the end for some nice color. I guess I like it because it has repetition, modulation, build-up, and pure chords -- everything I like! :)

I must confess, I've been sitting on this one for a looooong time because the inner harmony was giving me grief of how to play it. :-\ The piece is remarkably simple, but simple to play in its natural form only with a 3rd hand. So, I've been stumped on what to do with it. I've decided to settle on this configuration for now as a means of breaking the inertia. Am I happy with it? Not really. This will continue to bug me and will almost certainly warrant a reworking in the future. So, if you, dear reader, have suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

Party don't stop. 8)

Ah, Mario Party 4, one of my favorite Mario Party games. I actually did a bunch of Mario Party 4 sheets a while back and... I guess this one slipped through the cracks? It's a pretty simple piece, albeit with some nuance, of course. There's also some inner harmony, but it's really hard to hear for me and I don't think the piece is worse off without it. (That's called "justified laziness," kids.) Enjoy! :D

Post by: cacabish on December 23, 2022, 05:01:15 PM
Gotta do some more Animal Crossing. :)

So, 3 PM is probably my second most favorite hourly theme in the game, with 6 PM being my absolute favorite for the game (might arrange that one someday). It's bouncy, upbeat, and I think accurately captures a mood of "3 PM" quite well! There were a couple tricky parts with this, particularly near the end, so it'll need some cleanup before submission, plus I also didn't do the "rainy" version, but it's basically the same, with just the bass up 2 octaves (and yes, that does create problems, thank you for asking).

Enjoy! Bonus points if it's 3 PM where you live right now!

Post by: cacabish on December 24, 2022, 04:00:32 PM
One more Trails in the Sky piece for good measure! :)

As I've said before, Trails has got some great music and I've thoroughly enjoyed arranging pieces for it. A lot of the pieces have some serious emotion behind them and serve well in the scenes they're in. This one's not nearly as powerful as "Confession" imo, which I did earlier, but the music box-ness of it hits some feels for sure.

Enjoy your Christmas Eve! :D

Title: Re: cacabish's Arrangements - Sheetsmas 2022! Day 12: Bug Fables (Again)
Post by: cacabish on December 25, 2022, 05:21:49 PM
With all that said, to close out this year's Sheetsmas, I thought about all the different pieces I could arrange/finish for the final day's piece. However, I decided on a simple piece -- the piece that plays when you put your cute bug adventurers to bed -- as I think it's quite fitting. For the poet once wrote:
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
Indeed. I think that sums up everything nicely. ❤️

Day 12:
Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling - "Night at the Inn"
[PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/11pqnlu4pm2vs0p/Night%20at%20the%20Inn.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/trxhwiykrsmka2c/Night%20at%20the%20Inn.mid?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/e7z9yrvojn6o8qw/Night%20at%20the%20Inn.mus?dl=0) [MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/cgmdtm9optddzuu/Night%20at%20the%20Inn.musx?dl=0)

With this final piece, I conclude my 2022 Twelve Days of Sheetsmas! :) This year, I found it much easier than last, probably because I had a plethora of mostly-finished pieces lying around compared to last year. That said, who knows what next year will bring? If I post more often, then I'll probably be less likely to participate next year, and vice versa. We shall see.

Thanks to all who took a gander at, offered suggestions on, and enjoyed my submissions! I wish you, your families, and everyone else a very merry Christmas, a happy holidays, and a fantastic New Year! :D
