Post by: Magus Darkwind on April 29, 2009, 10:14:03 AM
I am not sure where I am/was supposed to post this, but how does one gain ranks? Secondly, Great site.

It's by number of posts.

<49 = newbie
50-99 = jr. member
100-249 = full member
250-499 = senior member
>500 = hero member

but please PLEASE do not post for the sake of just raising your post count.

We had these music-themed videogame names for ranks.

For example, er....

Only way would be to come up with them again.

Unless someone here has an infinite memory and has them all memorized.

Title: Re: Positions

We should make them, like...

Quite cool guy
Awesome guy
Super awesome guy
Like, totally awesome 'n' stuff guy.

Typesetter.

Apprentice Arranger.

Arranger.

Apprentice Composer.

Composer.

Something along those lines.
Title: Re: Positions
Post by: SirIngusBingus on May 01, 2009, 12:09:18 PM
Bad idea. I'm up to the 3rd level, and I haven't got a single arrangement on this site.
Title: Re: Positions
Post by: Brassman388 on May 01, 2009, 12:10:43 PM
Then we should have a ranking for how many arrangements we submitted. Along with how may posts we make.
Title: Re: Positions
Post by: Magus Darkwind on May 01, 2009, 12:54:04 PM
YES, once, or course, we can start submitting again.
Title: Re: Positions
Post by: Cobraroll on May 01, 2009, 01:05:22 PM
^^Well, wouldn't be very fair, though. Look at GreekGeek for instance, he has a good 40 files in his thread, all good arrangements, but none of them are on the site yet. With the "only one submission at a time"-rule, it will take him four years (with monthly updates) to get up them all, and ranks would progress very slowly for everyone as well.

The "post count gives ranks" system works well, but we should have a "no life"-rank obtained at 10,000 posts.
Title: Re: Positions
Post by: Magus Darkwind on May 01, 2009, 03:02:14 PM
I think the rule is there so that we don't get a bunch of crappy pieces all at once per say, and secondly, I think if a persons arrangements are good, then he will be allowed to submit more, more quickly. And just an idea, I think we should have a page for video game compositions. (If we do, let us hope we don't get too many battle themes)
Title: Re: Positions

The old system was great, nothing is going to top it.  How about we not care about ranks until after the rest of the site is fixed?

NSM has got a page like that. But like "GreekGeek's Compositions". But it's in an obscure area of this forum, where people never come, so it doesn't work. I've got like 15 video game compositions, but as long as no one is gonna watch that part of the site, I won't update them.

ok... this is what i can vaguely remember of the old positions with generalized post counts to the left made via some recollection and some problem solving... some of them i just know are in a general area hence the (/s) and there may be some that are out of order but yeah...

0-25 - Blank Manuscript Paper
25-50 (?) - Video game midi
50-100 - Bombchu Bolero/Sanctuary Serenade
100-150 - Lapras Lullaby
150-200 - Cheep Cheep Chorus
200-250 - Fuzzy Fugue/Ridley’s Requiem
250-300 - Ballad of the Belmonts
300-350 - King K. Rool Rap
350-400 - Elite 4 Elegy/Birdo’s Ballet
400-450 - no clue...
450-500 - Angel Island Aria
500-550 - Star Fox Salsa
550-600 - Hyrule Hymn
600-650 - Nintendo Nocturne
700-750 - Kirby Chorale
750-800 - Pokemon Polka
800-850 - Mushroom Minuet
850-900 - Sheik’s Symphony
900-950 - Robotnik Rock
950-1000 - Flashman Funk

1000+ (from here on i can only remember a handful... cause' there weren't that many with 1000+ posts)
Sonic Ska
Ordon Overture
Dracula’s Dance

Jake compiled a list and sent it to Jamaha, you two should compare.

You can go to archive.org, type in ninsheetmusic.net, then go to the early 2008 forums. You can't go to all of the topics, but you can go to some.

I found a bunch of positions in the archive. Blah has some I don't have, but I also have some he doesn't have. Plus, I could only find the positions, not how many posts you needed to become that position. Using his list and mine, I came up with an updated list:

0-24 - Blank Manuscript Paper
25-49 - Video game midi
50-74 - Bombchu Bolero
75-99 - Sanctuary Serenade
100-149 - Lapras Lullaby
150-174 - Cheep Cheep Chorus
175-199 - Ridley’s Requiem
200-249 - Fuzzy Fugue
250-299 - Ballad of the Belmonts
300-324 - King K. Rool Rap
325-349 - Elite 4 Elegy
350-399 - Birdo’s Ballet
400-449 -  ???
450-499 - Angel Island Aria
500-549 - Star Fox Salsa
550-599 - Hyrule Hymn
600-649 - Nintendo Nocturne
650-699 -  ???
700-749 - Kirby Chorale
750-799 - Pokemon Polka
800-849 - Mushroom Minuet
850-899 - Sheik’s Symphony
900-949 - Robotnik Rock
950-999 - Flashman Funk
1000-1199 - Rupee Ragtime
1200-1399 - Sonic Ska
1400-1599 - Ordon Overture
1600-1799 - Samus Sonata
1800-1999 - Dracula's Dance
2000+ - Corneria Concert

This is slightly altered from what I have in my notes. Like, I found someone that was Dracula's Dance but had 1723 posts, but it is too hard to try and find out when exactly you upgrade from one to the next, and this is just easier.

Title: Re: Positions
Post by: Jamaha on May 18, 2009, 01:21:14 AM
Each rank had one more star than the previous, with Blank Manuscript Paper having none.

I'm counting 29 stars which....isn't a round number. So I'm guessing we're missing either 1 or 11 ranks. Joy.

It's actually archive.org, and here's the link to "take you in the past."

It has links going back to 2006.
Title: Re: Positions
Post by: jake3343 on May 18, 2009, 11:29:22 AM
Why don't we make it so Black Manuscript Paper have one star? We may be missing one rank but it still works. And plus, I think I know how to fill in those empty spots. It seems weird that everything goes by fifty in the middle except for cheep cheep chorus and King K. Rool Rap, which go by 25. We could make those go by fifty, eliminating those two empty spaces.
Title: Re: Positions
Post by: Jamaha on May 18, 2009, 11:34:56 AM
For one, Corneria Concert won't be fitting for the final rank.

You don't have a "March" or "Reprise", you can make something along those lines... right?

Plus, you can have a "transcription", or an "arrangment" as a response to the blank manuscript paper.
