Title: Tangy's Arrangements - (12/01/2014) Pokefan Encounter (Pokemon ORAS)
Post by: Tangy on May 03, 2009, 03:33:11 PM
I arrange using Finale PrintMusic 2010. All of my sheets are uploaded through box.net. Criticism and comments are loved!

NEWEST!

Pokefan Encounter (Pokemon ORAS) (https://app.box.com/s/z9gqp85iwlhxlw0ife7u)
*Midi* (https://app.box.com/s/7979lbu6qhcav3vrb3jc)
*Original* (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W64heHaLAgk)

This is a totally new soundtrack as far as I know (AKA not from the original R/S/E). Super catchy. Translated well to solo piano. Does anybody know who the composer is? I can't find the information online yet and I haven't seen the game credits because I'm not even halfway through yet.

Completed
Printer Error (Pokemon Yellow / G/S/C) (https://app.box.com/s/mv0hmecftnqaaapkdp7q)
*Midi* (https://app.box.com/s/zkpv9nb5jf9m66ekved2)
*PDF* (https://app.box.com/s/5maf3ex48wez9w9cllc0)
*Original* (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyYlZeAHbhM)

Is... is there a reason this isn't on the site? Other than why would anybody need/ want sheet music for this, I guess? I went to look for it on the site, searched the forums, came up with nothing. Did I miss it? Well, it took me all of twenty minutes to transcribe for scratch, so I figured I might as well share it. I remember it from G/S/C, but apparently it first appeared in Pokemon Yellow.

IN PROGRESS (theoretically speaking)

Lavender town is just plain creepy. Pretty good arrangement.

Lavender Town is in E minor (key of G).
Sounds right though.

I know. ;_; I can't fix it without destroying it though. Grr. There's a section of this forum where someone with a better version can do that for me though, correct? I'll be going there eventually. Slateport has a key change partway through so I need that done too. I just have to figure out what key it changes to. xD.

Thank you! ^_^ I think PM: TTYD is my favorite game of all time, so I really want to try more from that. One of my favorites is the puni theme, so I might try that next.

Your ocarina of time melody, I'll see what I can do. Sounds like you're having quite a bit of trouble with finale. When i'm done, it should clear up somethings about the program.

EDIT:

Here, I made this according to what you needed. Enjoy, my gift to you.

Oh my god, you are amazing.

I can't edit it myself anymore since I don't have finale notepad 2009 (just the reader on my mac and finale notepad 2008 on my pc) but your name should be on there too. You seriously did most of it, lol. I need to print this off now~

Anyways, thank you! That's exactly how I wanted it to sound/look like. :D EDIT: I just noticed that you put "Ocarina Melody" instead of "Ocarina Medley". Not a big deal... just wanted to let you know.

Haha, my poor topic. :P Anyways, I actually have my own Finale Printmusic 2010 now. *hugs* So now I can arrange things again! (I was using the free trials, but there were only five so I ran out... xD)

So, this is a song from the 1994 PC game Wolf. Nothing special, but it was fun to arrange. In the game, it plays when you select your wolf and wolf pack/ number of wolves in the area, etc.

YES! Finally, a Rhythm Heaven arrangement!

I'm very greatful, there are so many great songs in that game. I also think there should also be some songs from Rhythm Tengoku. Not saying that you should make some, but...

Yes, I'll definitely do more from Rhythm Heaven. ^^ It's awesommee. I've never played Rhythm Tengoku (well, it was never released outside of Japan, so...). I should listen to some of the songs though.

Nice Song of Storms!
(though, check out the 8va in measure 83. I think it kicks in one note too late).

Could this be considered (and submitted as) a Virtouso arrangement? It's quite good, hard to play and a little different from the version already on site, so perhaps?
Title: Re: Tangy's Arrangements (Updated 1/27/10) Windmill Theme (LoZ: OoT) - My version
Post by: Tangy on January 28, 2010, 08:51:02 AM
Thanks. ^^

And whoops, that's fixed now, thanks. :)

I don't think my arrangement would be considered virtuoso... I can play it, and I don't consider myself more than an average pianist. (Plus I want to see MaestroUGC make a virtuoso arrangement of it, hehe. ^^)

I don't usually bother looking in individual members' threads, but I saw Rhythm Heaven on your topic earlier and had to drop in.  Love the arrangements, especially MUNCHY MONK.  My favorite song from that game.  If you plan on doing any others, might I request Love Lab?  That song always gets stuck in my head...  Both of your current RH arrangements would be accepted if they were put up for submission... whenever I find time to do another update.

I wanted to try to arrange something for something other than piano... so I tried the pokemon title theme for concert band, since I need to learn to arrange for concert band for school anyways.

Thought I'd post it here, because I figured some people would be interested. ^_^ It turned out well, but the dynamics on finale are kind of... well, I don't like them. It seems to translate forte to meaning "so loud it's ugly". So here's the versions with and without dynamics: I'm not sure which one I like better. xD.

Pokemon Title Theme - With dynamics (http://www.box.net/shared/u0o972z3b2)
.MIDI (http://www.box.net/shared/nuoo0pgkbh)

Pokemon Title Theme - Without dynamics (http://www.box.net/shared/6havjuf12p)
.MIDI (http://www.box.net/shared/3ff0zq4njl)

Obviously I'm not submitting these to the site though. ^^

And I haven't forgotten about Love Lab. ^^ It's just a really hard piece to figure out by ear. I finally got the rhythm all down, and the melody, so now I'm working on the bass and harmony.

Just thought I'd point this out; the .mid-links you've provided directs to the .mus - files, and vice versa.

Oh, and the arrangement is great, by the way. When I first heard the .mid, I thought you had put in an organ in there (which would have been absolutely awesome, though impractical), but I now see that this is not the case. Though, it still sounds majestic.
Title: Re: Tangy's Arrangements (Updated 2/17/10)
Post by: Tangy on February 18, 2010, 03:42:37 AM
Oops, not sure how that happened, but I fixed it. :P Thanks for pointing that out.

Lol, nope, no organ. xD. I based it off of my school concert band, which is why it only has one bass clarinet (ME. n_n), one bassoon, one oboe, and one piccalo. And no organ. ^_^

Some chords seem a bit odd, especially in measure 27/28... Probably you could try to fix that. Otherwise I like it :D.

Great work!

Thanks for the welcomes guys! ^__^

I always check the site before I make arrangements, and I also do a search on the forums for the piece I'm going to arrange so that I don't do one somebody else is already working on.

Which is why I didn't notice Dahans's arrangement of it, haha. I'll make sure to check it out later. :)

Yeah, measures 27 & 28 are horrible sounding atm. :P I tried removing the red notes and it sounded much cleaner, so I'll probably go with that (and add some chords to those notes to make them match :P).

For Rhythm Rally, you could put the notes going higher, then lower, then higher, then lower. You know, the part where where you have to hit the ball really fast.

Small update, but first one in a while... A replacement for the Donkey Kong arcade "game start" theme. This one is much more accurate so hopefully you guys like it. :)

.MIDI (http://www.box.net/shared/yttnxpi9x6)  .MUS (http://www.box.net/shared/0hlv2ihl4g)   Original (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhFV5-qbbIw) I couldn't find just the music so that's a clip of the actual game. This theme is the first few seconds. :)

Seems good to me, but the left hand get's just a tad too loud at measure 23.

Also I though at about measure 17 the sheet would look more like this (http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:2YuvvyMTgeYJ:spaceparanoids.net/music/Still_Alive_Piano_Sheet_Music.pdf+still+alive+piano+sheet&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESiLJ5a1R3LnToTyLbX4yQoT9iUO1k4MAaxUgLIjqRVTOCDxSw9WiHt0odIEDNxy9ertoXbqS9gx4ktBi4JlfBnUdp8pSUIxltGxd9Wp60OSgzejlBabGyAzxHxaoTT-UfmrH5q0&sig=AHIEtbRvxRR0DsMy0kBdLJHNxCho3WUZKA&pli=1).

^IT'S NOT A SHOOTER!

It's a first-person puzzle game  ;D. Well, you are being shot at from time to time, but that's just part of the experience.

I honestly have no idea why it took me almost four months to respond. :P

The left hand getting too loud is just the midi being a midi, not much I can do about that. On piano, one would understand not to play it that loud. :)

At about measure 17, I wanted to re-enforce the fact that the first chorus was different from the following two. It has more of a feel similar to the previous line, without the heavy guitar chords as in the next part. I think the sheet that you provided was more accurate to the actual song, but on piano it just makes the first chorus sound weaker instead of different. It's just not all that interesting imo. Does that make sense?

And indeed... it's a puzzle. :) You get a gun, but it just shoots portals, hehe.

This song is surprisingly tense, and maybe even a bit scary for a Mario game.

It sounds pretty good, but I think it's a tad slow. Try 104-105 for a tempo.
And for some reason the text isn't aligned correctly. Probably not that big a deal though.

Anyway, good job! It should be just fine for submission.

Ahh you're right about the tempo, nice catch! Fixed.

The text looks fine on my end (obviously lol). Dunno what to do about that... I'll go ahead and submit it now, since apparently the update is suppost to happen tomorrow. :P

The ninsheetm.us overlaps the staff in measure 17 and 18, and the composer and arranger text overlaps the title.
But the sheet itself is nicely done!

Hm, interesting, those bits of text are all in red on my sheet... I've had issues before with titles not being centered and such, but only when that font is red. I have no idea why it's red instead of green, but I guess it means something.

I'll transfer it over to another sheet without problems/ red font, and see if that fixes anything.

Any different?

Red font means the text box is attached to a measure. Grab the Text tool, go to the text menu, and select "Attach text to page" to solve this problem. There are instances however, such as medleys, where attaching text to a measure can be useful.

Okay... From what I can see, there's a lot of unattainable chords in the right hand (hense why I simplified that higher part so that both it and the bass were playable by the left hand), and he made the left hand messier by taking out the grace notes. Unless he was simply thinking "treble clef" and "bass clef", but piano sheets are read more with "right hand" and "left hand" in mind...

Also, the ending is incorrect. In the original, when the melody is played the second time, it's played twice with slightly different accompaniment, and those two times are repeated indefinitely. He seems to have put an ending in where there's more chording? I actually originally had the last part chorded like that, but I changed it because I thought it was too difficult. I don't understand how he ended it either.

I think I understand what he was trying to do, because it's rhythmically more accurate in the higher accompaniment. What I was trying to do was make this playable, and what he did is not playable with two hands.. lol.

Edit: With some editing (on his end, I can't change it with my program), I'm sure we can make this work... If some of the parts with the RH were moved to the LH, and a few were taken out... EX: bar two, the bottom two notes of the first chord should be moved to the left hand, but if the right hand plays the next chord, it will give adequate time for the left hand to play the next note.

Also, there's some random notes... bar 8 has the same g written in the treble clef and bass clef, but it's very unattainable by the right hand... lol

It's okay, you should have seen my arrangements when I first started lol... I think my first one was Lavender Town and it required three hands. :)

Now, the ending should look more like the original... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9CkKTadzns (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9CkKTadzns) If you look here, 0:00 - 0:37 is the intro part (this is not repeated). 0:37 - 1:24 is the next part. It plays the melody through twice, with slightly different accompaniment. These two parts are repeated indefinitely. What I'm confused on is you've included all of this, but at the end you add a third section which is repeated, and I'm not sure where you got it from.

But other than that and what I've said before, I've listened to it on my brother's computer and it sounds much more like the original. :)

The rhythm is pretty of, I don't think it's necessarily a Swing rhythm. Maybe you could use the melody line from the one on the site for the rhythm is right there.

I am quite sure that the melody is correct. I know it sounds a bit off, but I think it's because of the rolled chords... they land off of the beat, and since they're much louder because of the way the playback works, it makes the melody sound off as well... (at least, that's my theory xD). If you don't believe me, remove the chords and listen to it.

I did however notice that I miscounted the part with the rests, so I fixed that.

-measures 4 and 8 need to be written as two quarter note triplets with the 1st note being a rest
-in the last measure-that last 8th note and the half note so that the 8th is tied to the half note.

Lol, when I was in high school jazz band, our director made us go learn the melody of a song and play it in 5 keys as a test. I picked this song! It was soo fun! XD

It might be beneficial to put little "accidental reminders", like (#), in front of a few of the notes, though I'm not sure my version of finale can do this. Examples are a natural in front of the C in the left hand in bar 17, and a sharp in front of the F# in both hands in bar 22. Of course they're not nessesary, just if I was going to play this I know I'd personally end up writing them in.

This is such a nice piece. Thanks for arranging it!
The first measure looks a little sloppy and could look more natural using the second, third, and fourth layers instead of all those ties. And in measure 22, use C# in the left hand. Shows the chromatically ascending parallel fourths. Use sharps in the left hand in 22-23 too to show the harmonic function of the chords.
Good job!

Thanks for catching the sharps thing... I've fixed that. I also changed the right hand in bar 22-23 to all sharps which I think is correct. I also changed bar 21 to all sharps, but since the F is natural, should they be flats? I'm a bit rough on music theory.

Not sure about the first measure. To me, it looks worse with different layers, especially since there'd be four (might look better if there were no rests... finale tech, help? lol). I guess another thing I could do would be to use the sustain pedal, but I thought the ties would be more accurate. Thanks for your input!

Thanks! I want to try to do night walk next. If I'm feeling ambitious, I might try the magic waltz, polyrhythm, stealth rat, bon odori, or toran and porin. A lot of them would translate well to piano, but the rhythms in some of them are a bit complicated.

This is a totally new soundtrack as far as I know (AKA not from the original R/S/E). Super catchy. Translated well to solo piano. Does anybody know who the composer is? I can't find the information online yet and I haven't seen the game credits because I'm not even halfway through yet.

My PDF thing is being weird so I don't have a PDF version for the time being.
