Definitely sounds cool enough to play, if I had the score. I don't suppose there'd be any way to work the Dies Irae motif into the bass? Because that would increase the epicness tenfold, even though that doesn't occur in the original.
Which Dies Irea? I know of four different Gregorian Chants. But yes, its is a nice arrangement, as I have already told you.
thanks for your compliments, they mean so much :)
sadly i'm not very "updated" on Classical music as the rest of you are, and have almost no time to listen to any. If you could give me a specific song of Dies Irea, Seeker, it would be mean so much.
Coming soon, Battlerock Galaxy - Chaos Version.
Quote from: MaestroUGC on October 25, 2009, 02:02:45 PMWhich Dies Irea? I know of four different Gregorian Chants. But yes, its is a nice arrangement, as I have already told you.
The one in Totentanz, Symphony Fantastique, and Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini. What others are there?
It occurs from 0:08-0:30 here in the trombones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqCEhmqsSnY
Probably not going to be a nice way to fit it in, but I caught part of it that was almost going there. I should probably stop talking now. You don't want to take compositional advice from me.
all suggestions are always welcome :)
EDIT: ok, i heard 0:08-0:30, and you're right, i can't really find a way to fit that in :P
but i probably can in my next make of Final Bowser using a different soundfont. thanks for the advice.
I figured you were talking about that one, but the are multiple chants for the Dies Irae poem. Not to mention the ones written for requiems (e.g. Mozart's Requiem in D, Verdi, etc...)
The Final Boser theme is based off of baroque organ music (see J.S. Bach), namely the tocatta form of music.
Quote from: MaestroUGC on October 25, 2009, 05:16:47 PMThe Final Boser theme...
lol Boser,
so i'm already getting ready on my Rock remix of Final Bowser, the soundfont for it is huge. (over 31,000 KB!!!)
so expect that too.
Ok, so I posted what more I have on Battlerock Galaxy- Chaos. I need some thoughts, do you think I should end it here, or keep going with it?
EDIT: Also, coming up: Space Junk Galaxy- Chaos and my/The rock version of the Final Bowser 64 theme
These files are big! :o
I like your style. But I have no clue, why you called it "Chaos". It's not really a chaos^^. How did you record that? I really like it, it's great! But it's really quiet, I couldn't hear hardly anything.
Will you upload your files on nsm?
...sorry for pm-ing you to come back here, i have a lazy memory. :P
But the main reason I call it Chaos is because these versions aren't meant to be played on the piano, it's just supposed to make it sound unreal, i guess.
And you're the one who showed me how to record with audacity! I'm not sure about the volume, it is way too quiet, but if you actually hear it on my computer, it can get pretty loud.
I can't really put these songs on nsm because it is completely done on Mario Paint Composer. No .MUS, nothing that anyone can really read.
Personally my favorite part is when it gets into those big chords at the end and those harp sounds (if you could hear it). All credit for that harp bit goes to Sonicfan113 on youtube! He made his own version of many SMG songs and more on Mario Paint Composer.
www.youtube.com/sonicfan113
I hope you all enjoyed.
OK, so I decided to scrap my original idea of continuing Battlerock and keeping what I have and then make a [lame] transition into a great, short-lived song... The Battle with Megaleg. I'll be the first to compose this song on piano. Expect finished results in about a week.
P.S. MaestroUGC, please don't take my foresaken title of composing Megaleg Battle on Piano before me, thanks. :P
I have no intention on stealing anybody's thunder, so go right ahead.
ok, I added the Final Bowser 64 Rock version that I made. It shows how far Mario Paint Composer can go and my skills in Rock (in other words, I think I suck in the drums part, but oh well, I still love this song) :P
And for anyone who cares, my Final Bowser 64- Chaos link has now become invalid. If anyone wants me to reload it to Mediafire and post that link, I will.
Please feel free to add commentary. :) :P :) :P
...your mind is ahead of your abilities. You have all of these great ideas and insights, but you just don't know how to execute them. We all have those issues when we first start writing and arrangeing, but the only solution is practice.
So what do you think could be improved in this song? As for my piano arrangements, it would be SO much easier and faster to make my arrangements and I could actually see what I'm doing. :P I really like this song. :P
My abilities are far behind my imagination. One example is trying to play the Athletic theme from SMW on piano. The left hand is just too hard to play with the right hand. It looks like my left hand is meant only for cello and chords on piano. :-/ But I can make it fit.
Practice on Mario Paint? Never. Mario Paint is all about execution as soon as you sit down. The cool thing about it is being random, but that's just me: Random and fast.
Rule No. 1: You need structure before you can be spontaneous. (Education)
Rule No. 2: Don't attempt something you're not ready to do, it leads to a bad or sloppy product. (Ability)
Rule No. 3: NEVER write without having a pencil, paper, and a plan. (Execution)
Hmmmm, Education, Ability, Execution. Thanks, I'll consider this BEFORE I make Space Junk.
Got the final version of Super Mario 64 Rock theme up. Please give your thoughts on it.
Well done I like it! Be careful with your structure! But it's really nice!
That's some good stuff you've got there! Sometimes it seems like it gets a bit lost but it's still better than what I could do ;)
I got my final version of Battlerock and Megaleg- Chaos up. It sucks, bad ending, bad transition. Leave your thoughts, up next, Space Junk Galaxy- Chaos.

Not true, you might have noticed, but there are computers nowadays.
And yes, that's the thing you're behind now.
^I think he meant the principle, not the tools. You need to have a place to scribble down a plan, doodle a little with ideas, etc, outside your main workspace. It doesn't matter if you do it with pen(cil) and paper, Windows NotePad, Paint, or punch holes in your wall with a screwdriver.
Pen and Paper, thank you.
Any comments on the actual song?

That is exactly what I meant, but don't go punching holes in your wall universe. The song is chaos, which is what you were going for, right?
Chaos- but with I wanted to try it with the aspect of piano in it too, that RemiX i made was simply for sound. :P
Space Junk Galaxy Chaos:

My "request" list:
1) Super Mario Galaxy End Credits- Real Soundfont (example of those sounds used in Tetris RemiX)
2) Cool Cool Mountain (SM64)
3) Slider (SM64)
4) SMB3 Koopalings battle
5) Super mario Bros. Medley- Orig. Soundfont
6) Pictobits- Super Mario Bros. Part 4 - Piano }already chaos by itself
7) PictoBits- Legend of Zelda Part 2 - PIano }same
8: Mario Party 2 Space Land
9) Grass Beach (Beach Bowl Galaxy) (SMG)
If any one wants to add to this, those requests will go behind the SMG end credits arrangement.
SMB3 Boss with the Koopalings, not done, but coming soon, 'twas requested from a friend.

Really enjoyed Space Junk Galaxy. Doesn't stray too far from the original, and has some nice added touches. :D
Ihazarequestburger: would you be able to do The Sims 2 Main Theme? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjoyL_y4qPI&feature=related) If it's helps, I figured out some notes for the intro and main melody. That's the limit to my arranging-by-ear capacity. :P
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg81.imageshack.us%2Fimg81%2F1660%2Fsims2maintheme.tif&hash=b5fa81c2b1e84296ac416de3888d01cb63b3aa88)
Thanks much!
And you want me to do this on piano, or do you want me to get it to sound as close to the original as possible? (I can use different sounds)
You could do a remix (any instrument you like), but I would prioritise having one closest to the original.
...you could do both. ;D
Nah, as close to the original as possible, please.
Added The Sims 2 Main Theme (I can't get that game because of the WooHoo feature, ;) ) and I will try to get it as close to the original as possible, but remember that I'm limited on instrument choice, and I can't make my own sounds right now, so it's a challenge. thanks for providing some sort of sheet music! ;)
Behind this is the Start of the Dream 5 theme from Mario Party 5, requested by dahans. :)
Short break from NSM also, so don't expect anything soon. :-\ :P
Super Mario Galaxy End Credits, not done:

Super Mario Bros 3 Boss Battle, done:

Wish I could fix the mistakes in the credits, but, sadly, it's not that easy to take out those faulty rests.
The ending to the boss battle was all improv. Enjoy if you can! :)
Cool, Cool Mountain:
http://www.mediafire.com/?mbmwwzzzn1m
Time to get into that Christmas feel of Super Mario 64 with Cool, Cool Mountain (requested by MaestroUGC). I think it's good so far. Only thing is that Mario Paint only allows 5 notes per beat. I would speed up the tempo to help, but I'm a little scared to at the moment. I wanted to try and make 2 MPC's that would sync to get those few extra notes, but it failed epicly (< is that how you spell it?) So, I'm gonna have to deal with 5 notes a beat and a tempo of 550-1400 beats with 350 playing eighth notes, 550 for triplets, 700 for 16th notes, and 1400 for glissandos and 32nd notes. ??? This is gonna be tough, I'll try to get the final version in by Christmas.
Starting my own composition. I'm calling it First Origins. Think you know both of them (in the song)?
http://www.mediafire.com/?y1mtmrntdzd
I got the water music. I didn't love it, but it did sound pretty good. Have you considered writing it for a group of instruments other than piano? I think cello would be particularly effective for the opening part.
I could... but MIDI instruments (which is all I can use for Mario Paint) such as cello usually sound better as a quick sound. I'll see what I can do though. ;)
A request list will be shown soon enough. And it's gonna have to be a "whenever I get to them" kind of thing. I've gotten way too much on my plate nowadays.
Ok, I have finally finished another song:
Super Mario Galaxy - Star Festival: Chaos:

Please add your comments!
OH NO!!! This topic is dying!
Oh well, here's a new song:
Otherworld and Final Bowser Battle (SMG) Mini-Medley:
http://www.mediafire.com/?jtaqohyjzzy
Comments please! ;D
I really enjoyed your remix, Universe! But there are a few aspects of the song that were brought to my attention:
1) In between the two songs in the medley, there's a three-second-or-so gap with nothing but background noise until Final Battle starts. Was this intentional? I think a smoother transition would have continued the suspense.
2) The glissandos in Final Battle seem a little broken. Nothing that detracts from the overall experience, but at times, being the picky bastard that I am, it bugs me. :P
3) I don't know... Final Battle was always very intense with a lot going on at once. I guess I may have appreciated it a little more if there were fuller chords and generally more happening, perhaps in harmony or chord.
4) THE FILE SIZE. Do you have any means of converting that heavy WAV file of yours into an MP3, AAC or some other smaller music file? This doesn't bother me at all, as I know it would also affect the quality of the piece, but there would be others with slower connections that would have trouble accessing it. Maybe compressing it would do the trick.
Apart from these minor niggles, the piece is great. Apt choice of instruments, it's accurate, and around the same level of anticipation arises as the originals in the game. In fact, I'd recommend not even paying any attention to the critiques above; it's more of a way of saying something other than
QuoteNICE WORK!!!1!!!1!!!!11!1!!
so that you know someone's fully appreciated it. There's no reason to change anything to the remix now due to my niggles, but keep this stuff in mind next time you remix so it saves me writing and you reading, I guess. Nevertheless, keep up the great work, and I can't wait to hear more from you! :D
^^Thanks, especially for the critiques. Let's look into them shall we...?
1) The gap was intentional, because I had to click out of Galaxy Reactor then go into Final Battle. I could've connected the 2, with some drums in the middle imitating Bowser's voice, I guess, but that's just me.
2) I noticed the broken sounds. What happens is that in Mario Paint, it is a strict 4/4 or 3/4 time. And since the glissandos were 3 notes, I didn't want to confuse myself with the 4/4 format. So when one glissando goes into a chord, I add the chord to a new file that connects right after the glissando. Becuase it has to play from one file to the next, there is some lag (which I hate >:( ) that messes it up, this happens in all my songs, where some play better than the other.
3) I became a little lazy in adding more notes in the repeat. I could, but I really don't want to. :P
4) Upon request, I could always convert it to an MP3 file and share that. I have no idea why the file size is so huge. It becomes an annoyance. Probably because it's a recording. But, yeah, I could always just put the MP3 up if need be.
Thanks so much for commenting, it means a lot.
By the way, next up is Final Destination. ;) Look forward to it.
Thank you. Looking forward to it. ;)
I already got started on it and I used the perfect sounds for it! It sounds great, I must say!
It is done! Final Destination is done! However, it lacks the same excitement and feel of the original. But I hope you enjoy it! Here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?de2ywewwhnd
Opinions are appreciated!
Sorry to disappoint anyone who was expecting anything new. But, my main computer that I use Mario Paint on has crashed due to malware. So we shut down the internet on it and have quarantined it. I am currently using 2 laptops and my DSi. Expect something new in about the next 2 weeks to te next month. Here's what i was planning on getting done:
(MaestroUGC) SSBB Main Theme
(dahans) Kirby Super Star- Gourmet Race (Duet)
(Universe-X) (requested by Wiiman96) Sims (2?) Main Theme
(Universe-X) (requested by dahans) Mario Party 5 ~ (I'm gonna have to check back on the song)
(DekuTrombonist) (personal request) Mario Party 2 Space Land
[Gori Fater] Gusty Garden Galaxy
Sorry, once again to anyone who was expecting something new, but ATM, I have nothing to offer. School, actually, might keep me off of NSM and Mario Paint for a little more than a month, but we'll see...
And, sorry that I couldn't get to your requests earlier (to dahans, WiiMan96, and MaestroUGC), I was too busy to ear anything with school going on. I'd rather not ear anything with other things going on. I work in weird ways. :D Any new requests that anyone wants to make?
Looks like Mediafire is being a douche and they broke the links of half of my recorded songs.
If you want them back, all you have to do is say so... when I say so :P
I am starting over with my files! I am going to bring those files back but now in an MP3 format! Yay!
For now I have these 4 and expect more, including Gusty Garden Galaxy, coming soon.
OH YES! MY FIRST VIDEO! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!
Corneria (.RAR format)
*video is up*
I didn't record this vid, someone else did, which is why, first of all, it's a rapidshare link, and also why it's in .rar form. If you need a rar convertor, I have one available. Please enjoy and leave your commentary in the Home-Made Compositions section! It is also made with an outdated soundfont, so it may sound a whole lot different than the original, but it's still worth a listen. :D
Enjoy and please leave your comments!
Man, this is really good job. I'm not a big fan on Mario Paint, but you nailed the arrengment. Keep 'em comin'.
Thanks :D
YouTube channel is now up.
Nice arrangments^^. Though it would be better if you made them on finale^^...

how do you make those notes as if half of them are dotted but they're not? And you did a nice job, better than me - never mind, I don't wanna face you next time...
Hehe, what version of finale do you have? It might be easier to tell you. Next time I'm on my Finale computer I'll post here...

Dire, Dire Docks: done! :D
If it's just violin and piano, the violin part goes above the piano part. Plus the violin can only hit a low G, not a G-flat.
Yeah, I noticed that. I figured the instrument could be tuned to compromise. :P And this is the way Finale set it up. I dunno how to fix it.
For days, I've been wondering what that little notation means you put below the piano part, it says something like erm, "Led"? Can't really make sense of it... what does it do? Anyway, its a pretty good arrangement imo.
^"Ped", perhaps? Pedal?
Aahh ofc, mm well why did they have to use such a weird font for that :P. In those books I had when I had lessons there was something else for pedal, looked somewhat like this:
\______________/
Below the parts where the pedal was to be held down.
Yeah, that's how I learned it at first too. :D With more practice on Finale, I've been able to learn more ways to improve my musical skills with a huge amount of help from MaestroUGC. :D
Ped. = foot on pedal.
* (but bigger :P) = take foot off.
I think you put Ped. twice if you meant to do something like:
\_____________/\_______________/
yeah.
