Title: Super Smash Bros. 4
Post by: Meta-Ridley on July 06, 2010, 04:01:14 AM
Possible names Super Smash Bros. Rumble or Super Smash Bros. Fight?

Anyway, This topic is for people to speculate on what might be in a new Super Smash Bros game (If there's going to be one)
Please, bring forth your ideas. Here are a couple of my own.

1.Completeley make stage builder better. I don't care how you do it, just make it alot better.
2.For pokemon trainer, You can customise which starter pokemon from Kanto, Jhoto etc. and which evolution you'd like (only 3 pokemon
can be used when playing)
3.BRING IN MORE CHARACTERS AND STAGES. some examples would be Dark Samus or Ridley, Dixiekong, Krystal etc.
4.Bring back mewtwo. He's way better than lucario (You can only imagine what his final smash would be).
5.Make stages in the Campaign mode (e.g. from brawl Subspace Emissary) playable for online and versus fights.

My suggestions - make one for handheld. Before anyone says anything, it would be cool. Just not a lot of playability, I guess.

About Pokemon Trainer - you know how you can change colors of your people? Well, there should be five different colors for Pokemon Trainer - Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Isshu or whatever the english name is.

Some other character suggestions... get rid of Lucario AND Mewtwo. Bring in some better ones. I don't know about y'all... but I would like to play as Bowser Jr. Oh, and bring in Lubba from SMG 2. ;) jk
Dry Bones would be very cool. Put him with Boo.

I don't know about Pokemon... keep the Pokemon Trainer, Jigglypuff, and Pikachu, obviously...

Maybe add like Eevee.. more thought later.

They could put up characters from series that are not playable, playable.
There aren't as much to choose from though... But when I was younger, I would imagine Olimar, or a Pikmin to be in SSBM. I thought it would be a terrible idea, but it turns out they used both Olimar, and the Pikmin!
So if they could do that, they should be able to make more characters from different series  :P

Exactly. Plus BulbaNews has it somewhere. They may change the spelling a bit (Hoenn in Japanese was Hoen... except the o had the legato looking line on top denoting a long o sound)

A Golden Sun character as playable would be pretty cool, but I bet they'll stick to their main frame Fire Emblem, which makes sense for the Japanese market.
If they bring this back, I want Geno. No matter what the cost for Nintendo, I want Geno.

I would like Geno back also. I hope Square Enix would allow that next time.

I know what you mean lol. But then my sister would get mad that there's no Toadette xD

I'd prefer to see Dry Bones and Bowser Jr.

Although, most people didn't like the fact with "underlings" in Melee. (i.e., Link/Young Link, Pikachu/Pichu, Mario/Dr. Mario, etc.)

Yep, me no likey Pichu or Dr. Mario...

But you have a good point about Bowser Jr... He would be awesome (but that comes back to an "underling")
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. 4
Post by: Maretocks on July 07, 2010, 06:46:53 PM
Bowser Jr would have a lot more potential. He could totally Down-B in to Shadow Mario.

Also, a Ganondorf that isn't a Cpt Falcon clone.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. 4
Post by: Meta-Ridley on July 07, 2010, 07:44:02 PM
Also with the stages it should be fairer like in melee. There were 2 stages for each franchise. In brawl there were 5 stages for mario and 1 stage for yoshi and 1 stage for kirby and
1 stage for starfox. It should be more evened out.

And I reckon for colour changes they should actually be COSTUME CHANGES. e.g. Samus - Metroid Prime 1 suit, Metroid Prime 2&3 suit, Other M suit etc.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. 4
Post by: Taser9090 on July 07, 2010, 08:31:24 PM
I think Dr. Mario could be a costume.

It's already hinted that Pikachu in Brawl may have been Pichu in Melee, so yeah  :P
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. 4
Post by: Cobraroll on July 08, 2010, 03:50:12 AM
Give Ganondorf his sword, Young/Toon Link should have a completely different moveset than Link (Hurricane Spin!). Same goes for Fox and Falco, give them different moves.

Also, Bowser Jr. would be directly awesome.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. 4
Post by: Meta-Ridley on July 08, 2010, 05:01:09 AM
I think your suggestions are good, but I think that Fox and Falco are pretty Much fine except change falco's final smash and make him able to fly (just for the fun of it).
Dark Samus should be in the game.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. 4
Post by: SlowPokemon on July 08, 2010, 08:53:17 AM
I prefer Wolf to Fox. :P
I think Bowser Jr. would be amazing because he could have good attack potential, without Bowser's atrocious weight.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. 4
Post by: DrP on July 08, 2010, 09:23:20 AM
and the fact that he could (Down+B) into Shadow Mario... as stated above... would be EPPPICCC!!!

Let's hope they dont put Krystal on the new SSB, cause Fox, Falco and Wolf are all SSB needs from Fox (cause Peppy and Slippy really dont have fighting skills apart from their fighters)
(yes, and change movesets for each character)... and make Zero Suit Samus an option from the start!!

I just sense a Mario clone... i think Bowser Jr. should use his paintbrush for different attacks. maybe a Side + B He throws like a Koopa shell, or a goomba or something similar to King Dedede's Side + B.

The Shadow Mario would use the paint brush only... like a good Up+B could be a long slime, goop (like the stuff from Super Mario Sunshine) could attach on to something and flip him up or a Side+B could be like you said!

Its not like Nintendo's just going to drop a franchise that's epically promotes their systems and makes them a poop load of money. Its like dropping the Mario or Zelda franchise. So it's pretty much safe to say they're gonna make another one.

Certainly, certainly!
Did you know what Junichi Masuda's favorite Pokemon is? Kind of strange (but also one of my favorites) - Spinda.

And Ken Sugimori (the frickin' genius who invented the first two generations of Pokemon, and most of the later two, and also did all the final art for them)'s favorite is Gengar. lol.

I think that the next SSB won't come out before this new franchise is realeased, that way they can put the main character from it in the SSB game.

There probably will be another one, but I don't think it'll come out on a portable console. And what SFK said made sense, we'll probably have to wait for the new franchise before seeing it. I really hope it'll be like SSBM more, with fast-paced battles and more varied levels.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. 4
Post by: DrP on July 09, 2010, 11:30:05 AM
Well, looking at the SSB trend, only one SSB game has been released for a console (N64, GameCube, and Wii)... so it'll be a while. Melee came out here in 2001, Brawl in 2008, so therefore we could be waiting all the way uo to 2015 for a new release of SSB (and by then, the wii will be gone and another nintendo system will take its place)... However, Nintendo may be making SSB 3D for the 3DS, since they are remaking N64 games for the 3DS

Yeah definately. SSBB was too slow e.g. Samus shoots a big ball of electricity and hits opponent - opponent stands still for one second - opponent flies off screen.

That was part of the attack animation, mbk.

I like the original probably the best, as it's the most nostalgic, but SSBB is the best otherwise. Never really loved SSBM.

Don't get me wrong - even though brawl is a bit slow paced it is still better than melee by a long shot.
I loved the original - ness was awesome - starfox ship was a descent size - Final Destination music FTW!!!
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. 4
Post by: Sekter77 on October 01, 2010, 07:11:39 AM
I don't know. I think Melee is better than Brawl actually as far as gameplay goes. Brawl is loaded down with lots of cool stuff, but I think it may have gotten crushed under its own weight. The original is my favorite. It's just got the most charm and fun packed into its simplicity. The sound effects pack more punch and there's just enough to keep it fresh without suffocating everything else. But I love playing all of them regardless of which one's my favorite.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. 4
Post by: pumpy_heart on October 11, 2010, 12:28:32 PM
I'd have to go with Melee on this one too guys.
Melee added characters (though some are overpowered) upon the original cast. Most of the original cast got upgrades into Melee as far as moves go (save Ness). Brawl, however, took away characters, cut down on originality between characters (two attacks with different animation but same effect is not original), and tried to balance every character. Brawl ended with some OP characters and some virtually unplayable. Brawl is much slower than Melee (yawn) and the characters become very bland. Don't forget about the huge physics change. Melee made fighting faster, but kept most of the same game physics. Brawl changed the jump height, reaction time, a bunch of things. Feels out of place.
I'm sticking with Melee on this one.

I always love beating people with Jigglypuff on the first two games (but not Brawl, it's too weak there). That picture up there proves its frightening power! It's surprisingly quick in the air and you can be stupidly cheap and get a one-hit kill off of Rest. It's just about as cheap as Pit and Meta Knight except if Jiggly misses you can KO it while it's asleep. The other two just keep on going being annoying.

But my real favorite characters are Yoshi on 64, Dr. Mario (why'd they take him out? besides the fact that he was just a clone character) on Melee, and Ike on Brawl.

Jigglypuff is da shiz.

Honorable mention to Luigi for his girly slapping attack. :) Pokemon Trainer was cool, but Lucario was BLEAH.

Yellow Kirby also=win.

on the topic of funny wins (in SSBB), I think anyone who loses against Ice Climbers, G&W, Jiggly, or Olimar can get pretty mad sometimes, haha.

But, all the characters are somewhat equal. Some people are good with some, and some are good with others. Me? Ice Climbers, G&W, and Marth.. yet i still always choose random.

Wandering around the forum I found a topic that looked REALLY interesting :o

Seriously, if there's isn't going to be any more ssb-games I would kill myself! (well, almost)
Who's Zoroark by the way? A pokemon? They most likely going to add one from the newest generations + 3 new starters. But Eevee with evolutions would be cool. What I hope most for should be Spyro (not a chance), Megaman (I could bet a lot on that he's in the next game, kinda like Samus I guess) and someone from the F-Zero games

This is the only one of your hopes I could find coming true. But what I would think they would do is have him start as regular megaman. But by pushing a certain button, he gets different powers taken from the megaman games that he gets after defeating bosses. That would be awesome.

Spyro is a part of my childhood =) But he never going to be in ssb. And I would want one more f-z. Captain Falcon is the best, but he needs someone to beat too!
And as you say about megaman, that's what I hope!

If there´s gonna be a SSB 4, I would like for the 3DS, and please, MORE CHARACTERS AND STAGES!

   1.  At least 5 characters from each series:
Pokémon: Mewtwo (please bring him back), Jigglypuff (don´t like it a lot, though), Pkmn Trainer, Pikachu, Lucario...
Mario Series: Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Peach, Wario, Waluigi (why not?)...
Zelda Series: Zant, Ganondorf, Link, Zelda, Majora´s Wrath (or whatever that human-like thingy is called)...

        I know that would be a lot of characters, but c´mon! That would be A W E S O M E!  ;D

   2. Better Menu appeareance (it could use the 3D somehow). I didn´t like the Menu appeareance of SSBB or SSBM, don´t know why.

   3. Better Stage Builder.

   4. Cooler, better, and more stages, like the WarioWare one.

I can dream, right?  :P

wtf nonsense. Who cares whether it would look good in 3D or not (it would, therefore you are wrong); first you complained about the graphics then realized you were wrong about that, then you go to this, and you are wrong as well. Despite the fact that you say you want a fourth SSB, you seem to be very against one.

Also, saying that it wouldn't look good because it is on the side is like saying a Mario Bros. game for 3DS wouldn't look good in 3D. It would look really, good; it's not 3D so much as "coming at you" than it is with the "depth" aspect.

Post by: Meta-Ridley on January 23, 2011, 09:31:00 PM
I am saying that a 3D Super Smash Bros. wouldn't use the full 3D capabilities of the 3DS. It wouldn't have the wow factor of the games like kid icarus, nintendogs + cats, or other games have because the camera is side on and attacks go sideways. So now you can tell the foreground from the background. BIG DEAL!
So then people will look for other things to make up for the lack of 3D effectiveness. Like GRAPHICS. And then people will see that it has the graphics of the original!
The only thing that they can do is add some extra things - which they always do anyway when they make a new one!

So in the end it would be a downgrade to the others - there may be some elements that are better than the last games - but that would happen with a new home console SSB anyway!
And instead of a downgraded graphics and useless 3D SSB on the 3DS they would get completely revamped HD graphics on a much bigger screen.

Don't forget that this new home console that they will bring out will probably be more powerful in performance and space (more characters and new options) than the Wii.

You´re right. The only thing is that hacking a game always has some risks (like crashes), and sometimes costs money. So, people who want a "custom music" option, don´t want to (uselessly  :P) spend their money or (uselessly  :P) risk their consoles (that includes me!).

The only way to brick your system is if you're installing stuff you pirated and pull the plug during installation.

For my Wii, I have Riivolution, USBLoader, HBC, GeckoOS, and a lot of Pirated VC games.
For SSBB, I have mostly Touhou edits of characters, music, and 2 stages.

So yeah.
I got riivolution and a lot of hbc-stuff.
I mostly got custom stages, characters, textures and such for brawl, mario kart and new super mario bros (and just some codes for other games)

Necrobump!

Considering that Kid Icarus: Uprising has been out for awhile now, that means HAL has finally started development of Super Smash Bros. 4! Here's to hoping we get some juicy news leaks in the near future.

There was a picture that has about an 89% chance of being fake where the game was titled Super Smash Brothers: Universe.

Anyways, apparently there's going to be a Wii U and 3DS version that can interact with each other if I remember correctly.
Makes sense for it to be called SSBU if it's for the Wii U.

I mean, that's what it says in the game so many times... :-\

Isshu is the Japanese name for the region.

Also, I'm fairly certain that Isshu means "wish" in Japanese (or something?); the BW anime was titled Pokemon Black and White: Best Wishes.

Anyways, isn't this an SSB4 topic? XD

I think it would be interesting to see a stage based on Pushmo. The blocks could make for interesting platforming. There are plenty of different stage designs they could use to keep it interesting especially if they use Nintendo themed murals. They could probably allow for levels created in pushmo studio to be imported somehow. You could use any two matching ladder blocks to move between them and maybe the blocks could be knocked back by doing enough damage to them which would equal crazy fun trying to knock someone out by taking out the platform below a ceiling ladder or something.

Not a Nintendo produced game but a Mighty Switch Force level could work too. All the various blocks could make it a fun stage to play in.

It would also be interesting if they had something where Wii U players and 3DS players could mess with each other somehow. for example, Wii U players could distort the 3D effects and 3DS players could use the stylus to do something.

I still want to see a SSB4 game with exclusively pokemon characters. Not necessarily part of the original SSB series, but maybe Game Freak would do it ::)

Character Wishes:

I want lucas to return definitely. He was my favourite character to use in Brawl.

as discussed previously somewhere, Zoroark would be a most likely addition and I think it would work quite well. If it uses its Illusion ability though it'll probably only work effectively in 3+ player matches.

I'd like Pit to have some/most/all of his weapon types from Uprising to be apart of his arsenal. maybe that would make him less spammy.

what about everyone else?

I like the idea of Bowser Jr. He wouldn't have to just be a small clone of Bowser, either (like Link/Toon Link, or Pikachu/Pichu...)

Yeah looking at his Super Mario Wiki (http://www.mariowiki.com/Bowser_Jr.) page, I can see a few things that can make him different. The Magic Paintbrush (http://www.mariowiki.com/Magic_Paintbrush) could be used to imitate various characters or spawn fake items used for trickery or throwing.

There's also this excerpt about New Super Mario Bros.
QuoteHis attack pattern depends on how he wears his bandanna. If it's hanging loose, Bowser Jr. jumps and charges at Mario and can be defeated by simple jump attacks. If he wears the bandanna over his mouth, Bowser Jr. throws Koopa Shells at Mario and ducks into his shell whenever Mario comes near, preventing jump attacks from working. In this form, Mario has to hit Bowser Jr. with a Koopa Shell before he can be jumped on.
If they did this, they'd have to make it not so spammy.

There's also the Koopa Clown Car (Either his or his dad's)

I think they could have Kamek as an assistant character similiar to the Ice Climbers except you can't switch to Kamek.
This would make for interesting attacks. Bowser Jr's Final Smashes, if they keep this mechanic, could be his giant form from Yoshi's Island if Kamek is still with him, or using the Koopa Clown Car to drop Big Steelies.

Not sure if it's necessarily worth its own topic, but does anyone have any ideas they've played with in their heads of new characters? (moves, gimmicks, stages that pair with them).

Also, just in case anyone did not know this, Capcom characters are expected to be in SSB4

I would like to see more FE characters like the Black Knight, Elincia, Ashnard, Micaiah, or maybe even Soren.
I think they would all be great characters to add to the game.

I trust that HAL will make great decisions, but I hope that they take full advantage of the incredible technology that powers both the Wii U and 3DS.  Also, they really need to prevent having clones of other characters.  They can keep the clone characters, but give them some individuality.  I'm also excited to see how much of Skyward Sword goes into it.  Ghirahim could be great, but how will they work in Demise?  Also, the stages will surely be awesome.

Hmmm... All of the characters that I would really like to see most would never actually be in the next game. We can always hope for really awesome characters like Toad, but I really doubt it.

What if Majora's Mask Link is a character, and so it's just like Pokemon Trainer but switching between masks? (Zora, Goron, Deku, and for the final smash, the Deity mask...)

I think Majora's Mask would be an interesting character too. The final smash could be the moon crashing.

Ocelot. That's all that needs saying. Of course, it would basically have to be the same relationship Falco has with Fox, but still.
