School today, my first day as a sophomore at South Forsyth High School, was pretty sucky. We got agenda books, but they were short two and I didn't get one ;D.

We played those stupid "get-to-know-you" games all day (all they do is embarrass kids, and no one ever gets to know anyone).  :D

I have no classes with anyone I know well, including lunch. :)

Why am I smiling throughout all of this?

I like to keep a positive attitude. xD

Besides, it's really not that bad.

Im going to a school where I only know 3 others out of 17,000... so I can kinda relate a bit!

At our graduation, they ran out of diploma holders after the Ls... so they had to recycle a single diploma holder for like the other half of the students... haha

Everyone across the country heads back to school this and next week... everyone here starts after labor day (except my school, since it was private... they start on the 30th), but you are all so lucky you get out in May

We still have a shorter summer.

Yay, no more school!

Though, something even worse (in some aspects) awaits... and then there's studies from next year on. And after that, I *shudder* need to get a life.

I got "out" May 27th, but I didnt graduate until June 5th... and I start class September 20th! So I have a LOOOOOONG summer!!

They still do that in college >__>

It's not like I can remember anyone's name anyway...they're all called Caitlin, Kevin, Andrew, etc so they won't glare at me if I guess wrong. There was this one class where I didn't know anybody all semester.

that sucks. im gonna have to do that for orientation (i did it for my first orientation, too)... and it sucks you have to be with them ALL semester... our school is on the quarter system, meaning you're with people you dont know for less time, but you have mid-terms five weeks after class starts

The Final rehersal before our spring concert, a guitarist and bassist came in 30 minutes late to rehersal and were stoned off their asses... and they were just laughing the entire time (and they SUCKED... even though they were really good without marijuana)

My friend said her accounting professor came to class drunk before. So the professor walked to the board kind of messy-looking and then starts scribbling stuff no one could read on the board, read the same chapter to the class several times, insisted she was fine...then someone stepped out and got the academic dean to sit in during the lesson. After a few minutes, the dean told everyone to leave so she can talk to the professor. My friend took her time packing up her stuff and heard part of their conversation. The professor got fired >__>

You'd all be surprised how many kids are actually stoned in the morning at school, you just only notice the obvious idiots who can't hide it well.

I've always concealed myself well enough to never be noticed.

Here's my schedule which I just updated today.  Was going to take intro to microecon, but realised that would probably be semi-useless to me and horribly boring as an 8:30 class, so I switched it out for intro to astronomy, which is a million times cooler.

I could attempt to make it into 2nd year right off the bat, but it might not be a wise decision as I'm already going to be doing a lot of work in my chem and math courses.

Well, the purpose of the class is to teach the basics of programming. And since Python is really easy, I guess it's justified.

Still, would've preferred a language that's actually useful. Sure there's C after Python but....meh, still have to spend time with the damn Python.

4-5 Classes on a Semester System is full time

3-4 Classes on a Quarter System is full time

You have 5 classes, so you're full time (isn't college scheduling great! You have SO MUCH MORE free time!)

I am taking 5 classes, but that's overtime in Quarter System Land (and a 1 unit music ensemble class too!)

isn't being music major fun? :D I actually have a lot more free time than my 1st two semesters, so that means I have plenty of time to practice up for my transfer auditions. (I go to a community college ._.) I go back to college august 29.

If you're serious about music engineering you should be taking at least math right now.

Psh, silly music majors.

I'm taking a lot of filler in my schedule, since I've got nearly all my major requirements and general elective classes out of way already, and the only biology class I'm actually taking is undergrad research with the department. So even though my schedule in terms of credit hours is a lot lighter than previous years, I'm not really looking forward to the sheer amount of writing I'm going to need to do.

Oh well, at least I got awesome roommates this time around. :D

Not to point fingerz, but from my experience, the worst are OC women in LARGE SUVs. Their mentality on the road is atrocious (Imagine ETF driving a massive minivan... haha)

Mexicans (with their dilapidated 1995 Chevy Silverados packed with about 7 of them and possibly another few hiding under a tarp in the back and their constant need to drive 5 miles under the speed limit) can be quite a nuisance, too.

Also, asians can be pleasant if they're driving behind you, because they leave a LOT of room

We have to "buy" them too here. My friend needed one, and apparently they're all in the underground tunnels. Which is kind of awesome.

Also I have to buy my textbooks too, but I think I'm not going to sell those since apparently I'll need them throughout my 3 years at Uni and also when I'll be working.

Quote from: SlowPokemon on September 06, 2011, 06:50:40 PMXD yep, they're $10 and this year I finally convinced my mom that it was just wasting money to get one.

I never had a locker in high school. they were free, but the school failed to set me up with one.

I have a locker, but I don't use it.

Lockers are free as long as you register and put a lock on it. Nver really have to use it since my bag is HUGE.

Just a random question, does your school have Muck up Day? Where the graduating year messes around doing things like scaring younger kids and stuff?

We just have Senior prank week. Where different cliques of seniors will all do something that is usually illegal to the school. Hopefully they're creative with it.

lol freshman friday, used to be horrible but this year it was nothing. Completely fake and stupid. This year's seniors aren't creative at all.

I'm loving senior year because all the teachers are so laid back and my schedule is set up perfectly so I can get all my AP and Calculus homework done right before the classes.

I heard there was a fire in one of the chem labs today and the whole school was evacuated from the building. So there were several thousand students standing all over the street and blocking traffic for about 20 minutes.

Bumping again ;D

It's back to school tomorrow for me. I have no idea if I have classes with friends or anything. I'll probably have a pretty stressful day tomorrow, but nbd. It's my last first day of school!! When I joined, I was still a freshman, that's crazy.

Hopefully not into the wastebasket -_o

I need to concentrate on my grades this year. Because the bank is being a dick about my parents' restaurant all of a sudden even though my dad has perfect credit... so it looks like they won't be able to help me much in college.

I didn't stop going to school... 1 week vacation after spring and then summer classes plus a job

Though luckily that will be done next week and I'll have a month and a half actual vacation before going back to school the last week of September...!

At first glance my Tues/Thurs looks beautiful (last class thurs is actually midterm period that we only use 3 times), but I'll probably be filling it with work.  Woo.

And now a translation:
MATH 307: Differential Equation
PHYS 123: Waves and Optics
CSE 142: Intro to Java (this will be ezpz)
JAPAN 311: 3rd year Japanese

I have classes on Monday/Wednesday/Friday only, and Friday is a short day. It's really nice, and the days off = homework and able to goof off.

College looks promising, at least.

Quick, someone with good programming skills and experience in layout design for input requests should make a program where you and your friends enter your schedule so you can instantly see intersecting free-spots or maybe any classes you share together.

I could see this working well as a facebook app, too.
