Pokemon theme xP

It is present day, in Kanto (Saffron City). Pokemon Trainers everywhere live in fear. Team Rocket has made the biggest, scariest, and gravest comeback in history. Even worse, Team Rocket has infiltrated Saffron City in the hopes of stealing Pokemon and then murdering the Pokemons' Trainers. There are Team Rocket members living in the town, but none of the Pokemon Trainers know who to trust and who to report as they look just like an average Pokemon Trainer. Trainers are GREEN, Rockets are RED.

There is someone who has psychic abilities (Gym Leader) in Saffron City, and can send a pm to the host to find out any person's color. But Giovanni, the Team Rocket Leader, is known to be living in Saffron City. Giovanni is seer'd green even though he's a Rocket.

There is also the owner of Silph Co., (also the mayor of Saffron), who looks out for the town in times of need and can protect one player per night from being killed by Team Rocket.

Giovanni (Master Wolf)
Rocket (Wolf)
Rocket
Gym Leader (Seer)
Mayor (Guardian)
Trainer (Human)
Trainer
Trainer

Trainer

Special Item: Max Revive--given to a random Trainer (green) at the start of the game. It allows that Trainer to resurrect another Trainer who has been wolfed (not lynched).

Sound stupid or good? :P Because I'd love to host if it sounds good.

I think it would be nice to see Cobraroll's El Guerilla story again, minus the armor item because the seer + guardian alliance would be invincible.... I believe that's the reason Nakah took out the Guardian himself in the story with the two items, as to make sure this didn't happen.

There was more to it than just that. I'm not personally favoring that one, but if others really wanted it then there's a way we could make it work.

   The possibilities are literally endless.

Hitchhiker Game
Life in the galaxy is drastically changing. The Bureaucratic Vogons are plotting to demolish the planet Xena, the largest planet in the Apollo Solar System, located in the Andromeda Galaxy. Xena has been the location of extra-galactic flights from Earth and the Humans beginning to revolt on Xena. Vogons have been able to perfect the technology of transforming into Humans, but only for a span of 15 hours a day. They have killed off and replaced some Xena Council Members, with authorization from the head Vogon, and will continue killing off the rest of them. The Head Council Member, the Galactic Vice President has been observing the Vogons and has been getting closer to those she suspects as Vogons and exposing their true identity, if a Vogon. Then there is the Hitchhiker. He, using the knowledge of the book, can guard any Council Member as he needs fit. Lastly, there is the Minister of Trans-Galactic Affairs, who may seem like a Vogon, but is actually a true council member.

Minister of Trans-Galactic Affairs - A Council Member, but seer’d as a Vogon

Items:
The BabelFish - Given to a Xena Council Member from the start, allowing him to find out the identity of someone (at random). There is an unlock code to use this item once
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy - An Item held by the Hitchhiker that enables him to save a person from being lynched as he sees fit. He must post the unlock code on the thread to save the person BEFORE THE DAY IS UP
Vogon Poetry - An item held by a Vogon. It enables him to find out the identity of a random person, allowing him to insta-wolf them (unless they are protected by a person). They must use an unlock code on their PM to the host

The MEGA Game!
Team Galactic is at it again, this time under the guidance by the Galactic Commanders, including their newest admin unknown to anyone. It is up to the Hoenn Gym Leaders to fight back. This time, the Galactic Commanders are planning on harnessing the power of Cresselia, Darkrai, and Rotom to get Arceus, so they can remake a better land for them to enter in. Karen of the Johto Elite Four has been tracking Team Galactic since they stole a bunch of Pokémon from their resting places, and can point them out amidst Hoenn Gym Leaders investigating the situation. Cynthia wants to make sure all the Gym Leaders are safe, so she is protecting them during the night hours with her trusty Garchomp. Sabrina has aided her powers to detect how many Commanders are alive. The Galactic Commanders are going to start kidnapping the Hoenn Gym Leaders, so they don’t have to worry about them impeding on their plans.
Mars
Jupiter
Saturn
Neptune - The newest admin will be seer’d as a Hoenn Gym Leader
Karen - Seer
Cynthia - Guardian
Sabrina - Psychic
Roxanne
Brawly
Wattson
Flannery
Norman
Winona
Tate
Liza
Wallace
Items:
Bicycle - Given to a Hoenn Gym Leader at the beginning. It allows them to escape a kidnapping/wolfing. Can only be used one time with the correct unlock code
Go-Goggles - an item given to a Hoenn Gym Leader, which enables them to see a kidnapping happen, seeing the Commander and the Leader. This item can be used once with the correct code
Luck Incense - Found in the hands of Sabrina, giving her the chance to Seer someone, and will give the correct seering result (will seer Neptune as red if guessed correctly)
Life Orb - An item found in the hands of a Galactic Commander. When lynched, it will enable the Commander to take someone else down with them. One time use with the right activation code

So you have now reached the bottom, should we continue these with items, or should we just go "bare-bones"? There is some originality in some items, but I think some of these will be a great game to play (and I was especially fond of the Mafia game... sensing there wasn't really anything "new" about it!)

EDIT: So I have chosen the mega game since some people may be attracted to the fact that there is a larger amount of people and four wolves and various items (I personally like the Go-Goggles... that's pretty original)

So many girl roles in that last one...

That's why I didn't give the Saffron City Gym leader a name. :P

Cause if ETF played or something and she was the only girl, everyone would assume she was Sabrina.

The only thing about mine is that it's too plain.

EDIT TIME.

Everyone may think so, but it's all going to be done at random thanks to my Statistics class. I love my calculator!!
so ETF may be a guy and a bunch of guys will be girls. They are just for nominative purposes (because I was just bored)... everyone will say they're human instead of a hoenn gym leader, or seer instead of karen.

I've already tried with this idea, but lets give it a secong try.

9:10 A.M.
A man gets a phone call. He picks up.
   "Hello?" He asks."Who is this?"
A slightly cheery, almost to the point of psychotic, male voice answers him.
"Hello my good friend."He says."I want to play a little game"
   "Who the hell is this?"
"I have many forms" He answers." Right now I'm your guardian angel. I would duck in about ten seconds or else you'll be shot through that window next to you"
The man becomes stricken with fear. He freezes up when suddenly he hears on the phone.
   "5"
   "4"
   "3"
   "2"
   "1"
The man ducks, when suddenly the glass shatters. He sees a bullet hole in the wall in front of him. He picks up the phone which he had dropped and shouts into it.
"What the hell do you want?!"
The voice answers "If you want to stay alive you'll do exactly as I say. Get out of your apartment and run down to 42nd. Go into the first alley you see. Go until you see stairs going down to a door. Go through the door and await further instructions."
The man, not knowing what else to do, listened to the voice. As he turned the corner into the alley, he heard more gun fire. He knew that someone was after him. As he raced through the door he saw 12 other people inside the small room on the other side of the door.
One woman asked "Did you get a phone call too?"
The man nodded, and suddenly a large television screen inside the dark, musty room lit up. The silhouette of a man's face appeared.
"Hello all" He said. "Today you shall all be part of a little social experiment. The same men who were shooting at you are in this very room. And it's up to you who were involuntarily dragged into this little game to find and kill them. Teamwork people! That. Is. The key. Without it, you're all dead meat. Quite literally in fact. Hahahaha!!! LET THE GAMES BEGIN!"

Problems: Nothing "extra"...

Plus, it's kinda stupid to have the Seer and Vigi be items... make them actual people. xP

That is all.

See, this is why I hosted a manhunt. You don't need to have anything extra for it to be a good game. I think most of you are putting in items into your game as a crutch for players. Asides, the concept of having items being the role isn't bad, making abilities transferable is a notable concept.

If these items were made people instead only one person could possess the ability. Making them items instead allows them to be transferred between players.

Yeah, but there are 17 roles... we'd need to get everyone who has played in the past and then some...

I could convince dahans! (maybe)

I might be able to, too! Maybe I can get Roz and Oni if I host (since its this Pokémon theme)... but I really think that the HGttG one would make a better selling point with those who arent necessarily Pokemon fans... who knows, Nakah AND Concerto may join in

Title: Re: TWG X: HOST SIGNUPS
Post by: master_gamer38 on August 28, 2010, 08:16:57 PM
More wolves doesn't mean more challenge. I really don't think you understand the game fully enough to host. By adding more wolves, you're just having more players, not more difficulty.
Title: Re: TWG X: HOST SIGNUPS
Post by: DrP on August 28, 2010, 08:36:35 PM
It can be... you just have to look at it from a different perspective. it adds extra suspicion and the 4th wolf is seer'd as green (which makes somewhat of a difference from having four reds). I understand the game completely, just because I tried putting in a curveball last game doesn't necessarily mean I won't be a bad host. I've been observing Concerto and Nakah when they were hosts, and I know there is stuff I wasn't able to see because I was actually playing a game, but that doesn't mean I can try stuff... I know how things work, and I can do some math to work on strategy. These items will add curveballs to the game (even though they may seem not fair at times). more players can add some confusion at times. we shall see (because I really dont think it has been done with 16 players)

That may be true, but the game is definitely spiced up with some interesting story. While it isn't completely necessary, neither is salt on scrambled eggs.... Scrambled eggs without salt doesn't taste that good.

What about a game where the only special role is a guardian that can't guard themselves? (That's right grammar, I even looked it up. >__<)
And maybe the special guardian can be an item that is destroyed after death, but can be passed around if you are still alive?

I'm not planning to host anything until I get at least 50 posts and a few TWG's down. I have a good story/game design in mind, but until then, I'll just stick with whatever you people have in mind. For my first TWG, I'd rather not have it EXTREMELY complicated, nor as simple as a manhunt. Does that make sense? If not, then please understand that while I might sound complicated, it won't really ever start BEING complicated until I try to start confusing you, which won't happen anytime soon, as I know if I try to confuse people in TWG they will be suspicious of me even if I am not a werewolf, which would be very unfortunate for the likes of the person who recently realized that ub3r was in the middle of his name (no not my middle name, but in the middle of my username, isn't that cool? If not, then please understand that I am thankful for you reading this very not meaningful subscript text that has not much to do with anything that is coming that represents nothing that will not come in the future.

Meh, minus the psychic.  :P Sure, the psychic is cool and all, but it might as well be a cardflip game.
But a cardflip game wouldn't be much fun, as part of some people's strategy is to convince them that they are human even AFTER they die, so that way things that they said will still be taken into account.

your Mega game does look a bit excessive, but who am I kidding, it seems pretty cool. You should do your Hitchhiker's Guide TWG. It is like a normal game, but adds some items, doesn't have a psychic (IMO, a psychic seems kind of pointless), and has the mix-up of a human that is seer'd as a wolf

The site went down, so I can't check, but I believe that I have played in a game with 18 people. It wasn't more confusion, just more people. That's it. Having a 4th wolf doesn't really matter. Again, all you are doing is increasing the size of your game. It doesn't add more confusion or more suspicion. To keep it balanced you have to add more humans. There is a wolf to human ratio.

I still don't think we should be using items until people can handle them. They aren't necessarily a good thing. It takes a lot of work to make a good item game. Items get complex, and shouldn't be used until one fully understands how they can alter a game.

I do plan on submitting a game, I just have some things to do first.

Assault on Dionysus

The one who set out from Nakylvania so long ago is nearing the end of the path. A force has been gathered to challenge Dionysus with. A way to challenge Dionysus has been found. The quest will soon be complete. Dionysus's sacred temple can be seen on top of the next hill. It's only another half day's walk.

On the way there, a soldier stops and takes a drink from a stream. There was a light that suddenly cast a form in the water. It was the Goddess Artemis. She told the soldier to step into the stream, and then get out. He did so. When he got out, he was not wet. But he felt empowered. Artemis told him that she had given him her blessing. And when they would face Dionysus, he would know when it was time to attack Dionysus directly. He thanked Artemis and caught back up with the rest.

They arrived at Dionysus's temple. The one who set out so long ago stepped forward and said: "I challenge you Dionysus! You caused hell in Nakylvania and I'm here to set things right!"

Dionysus stepped out of the shadows and said "Very well then, I accept your challenge."

There was a flash, and they were in a Colosseum. Like before, they no longer looked the same. It was to be a battle royale. Dionysus and two of his men, against the force that was assembled. "I won't let you attack me until you have defeated my men first," said Dionysus, "and that won't be an easy task either.. LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!"

1. Dionysus
2. Gladiator
3. Gladiator
4. Human
5. Human
6. Human
7. Human
8. Human
9. Human
10. Human
11. Human
12. Human

Dionysus is a very special wolf. He is not hidden as a wolf. In the first post, I will be saying who has Dionysus's role. Dionysus gets two votes during the day phase. And cannot be lynched until the other gladiators have been lynched. This will be reflected in the story.

Armour of Artemis - This armour is held by a human at all times. The human that holds it is PM'd the number of reds at the end of each phase, this count includes Dionysus. If the holder should die, through wolfing or lynching, it is randomly given to another human. It cannot be given to another player.

Okay, it's awkward, but I have to say this.

DrP is acting like he already has the host role...when truthfully the only story I like less than his is MG's.

@MG
It's way more fun when everyone's role is a secret.

I dont know i like mg's game. I think it would add a sorta hatred for whoever is the non hidden wolf. Like he is in control of the game and people would want him dead, which would also make more people actually play instead of trying to fly under the radar.

MG's game sounds interesting and all; although there's nothing wrong with the psychic (armour of Artemis), that means that the two gladiators won't be able to pull off any strategies that involve convincing others that they are a human AFTER they die. Does that make sense? Well, I guess this TWG would be okay.... I vote Assault on Dionysus by master_gamer38...

The Mega Hoenn TWG looks like the best one there (and I am not saying this because of DrP)... people may have meh, bland or plain ideas that don't seem dynamic that much. I am a sucker for a good story, too.

It's not bad, it's just different. The third wolf is like a boss, and the armor will tell whether or not we succeeded in killing a wolf or not.... Sure, it will be different, but we have to have at least ONE game with a psychic in it.

It's not bad, it's just different. The third wolf is like a boss, and the armor will tell whether or not we succeeded in killing a wolf or not.... Sure, it will be different, but we have to have at least ONE game with a psychic in it.

Knowing one of the wolves' identities, even if we can't wolf him, is a very stupid idea.

Well, we won't know how stupid it really is until we try it.... Meh, my arguing seems pointless. People should either post more options or vote for the ones that are already here.

Wait! I just realized that if askalice meant his comment as a vote, that means:
Mega Hoenn- SuperRiolu, SlowPokemon
Assault on Dionysus - AskAlice, Jub3r7
Kind of tied....

Why? It's a different way to play. It's something extra, but still based around the idea of a manhunt. You aren't relying on items, but, you have a starting place to look for wolves. The game will be different in a new way.

^^Yep. Knowing people's roles FOR A FACT is not necessarily fun. It is the discovering of something new, something completely different from what you thought.

I am going to stick with DrP, not just because the story seems good, but we really need different hosts. I've been looking over the old games and it seems that MG and Nakah have hosted the majority of the games (with Concerto hosting only one). I say get someone else in there, like SFK or DrP

SlowPokemon and drpamplemousse and some other players who feel they can host, although I'm glad to see you're eccentric about hosting, your games aren't really that balanced.  Saying you know how to play well, or that you know how to play does not mean that you're skilled enough to host.  I'm sorry if this insults either of you, but saying that just shows how inexperienced you are, not to mention that Hosting is much different than playing a game.  I only skimmed through your games and a majority seem very unbalanced and favoring the Humans.  That's not to say that they're bad, they just need a bit of tweaking.

We had a somewhat similar problem at LLF, to solve this we had a list of people who could host, would need approval to host (For balance a majority of the time), or could not host.  Although it may make things unfair to some people, I think the community here is mature enough to handle things in this way.

Aside from that though, Master_Gamer38, to be honest, I don't really like your game much either.  I think that game seems a bit human sided as well (Though, it may depend on the players who are the Wolves), since the Humans have a never dying Coroner and only need to find two Wolves.  Though, I suppose the fact that Dionysus is revealed, that player may be able to cause confusion if things are done correctly, which may make it fair.

Also, I apologize if my post comes out odd, but there are these bugs in my room and I'm afraid of bugs and eep.

Mashi is pointing out something that is really important, and I agree with all that he's saying. I'm glad everyone's enthused to post ideas, but a lot of the games from first time hosts in this thread have many problems or unnecessary implementations which would require some tweaking to fix. I'm placing it in the hands of MG, Concerto, Mashi, Jake, and Kotor to make all final decisions in choosing a host in my absence. They are the some of the most experienced members here.

Although, I also don't want the games to turn item crazy like some of the LLF games have. Like MG stated about manhunts, they're good for being core TWG skill testing games. Lots of items throws a game off and makes playing it less TWG and more Mario Party like. It becomes less intellectual for the players. That's not the say that LLF doesn't have a legitimate TWG forum going.

Well, guess what I've been doing! More math! I've been working on a game balance tester. As of currently, it's all a little random. But it has the generic idea down. It takes guardian and seer into effect, although not the best. The seer doesn't get focused on if they come out. Same with the guardian. But, the idea is there. The game I posted, when run through, is balanced towards the wolves actually. This is taking into effect the ability to tell when the other wolves are dead.

I've run other games though it, and most of them tend to lean towards the wolves, if it was all random. But it's not random. The wolves do have a harder chance to win because they have to be hidden. Eventually I'm going to implement that into it, along with tracking votes for bandwagoning and such. It'll take some time.

Point is, from a mathematical point of view, my game is balanced.

OK, heres the Mafia game... going back to basics

The year is 1925, in the crime riddled streets of New York City. Mafia bosses are frantically trying to get their bootleg shipments of liquor products in from Canada to stock the speakeasies. However, there is a band of US Secret Agents trying to kill these mafia bosses from making their “dough”, so small wars have been breaking out in small alleyways and in deserted buildings throughout Manhattan. The US Secret Agents were getting toppled every time, but a new section of the CIA is ready to take on things more covertly, and gain jobs in the criminal organization. The US Secret Agents have a man working as a Consigliere to the Mob Bosses, who in turn may know who these mob bosses are. The US Secret Agents also have L, the weapons expert that will cloak certain US Secret Agents at their request.

Mafia Boss
Mafia Boss
Mafia Boss
Consigliere - Seer
L - Guardian
US Secret Agent
US Secret Agent
US Secret Agent
US Secret Agent
US Secret Agent
US Secret Agent
US Secret Agent

I am contemplating of changing a "Mafia Boss" to "The Godfather"... a Master Wolf who is seer'd green (like the last game)

Getting Liquor wasn't difficult, prohibition was hardly enforced, also: "By 1925, in New York City alone, there were anywhere from 30,000 to 100,000 speakeasy clubs." The CIA wasn't around yet, neither were 'computers.'  A Consigliere would know the Mob Bosses, since they are basically the left hand man. A preemptive strike wouldn't be defending people, it'd be assaulting before an attack is made. And I'm also assuming Langley is Langley, Virginia, which is where the CIA headquarters are, which still isn't around yet.

You've taken events from the past, tried to put a story to them, and failed.

You must really don't want me to host... sériusement? Quel dommage, c'est une calamité pour vous.

I try and make things nice... I know the CIA wasn't in existant then... I'm not even sure if the OSS was in existance (or even the CIG). I used the word Consigliere because it sounded cool, and its RIGHT hand man.

Computers were in existence, but too large for the average 9x13 room...

The reason why I said the Consigliere was "not able to know who the mob bosses are" is because I have to put the illusion that the Mob bosses have to be mingled with the secret agents.
Also, I am not some illiterate imbecile who doesn't know the history of the country I live in. People who lecture me out of place is an insult, very much so. You have been warned this time

I decided my idea could use a bit of tweaking.

Now, a 1:4 wolf to human ratio I'd say is pretty balanced. Plus a vigi item that can be held by any player which also helps level the playing field. Though if wolves get it, they do have an advantage, since there is a a seer item given only to humans, that would keep the game fairly balanced as well.

So I decided to post what I thought about some games and such.  My main gripe right now is that many of you are adding Items, but the games aren’t Item based.  There’s really no strategy in Items in non-Item Based Games if you just use said Items as crutches.  But I’m dumb and am going to rush through everything because lazy.  If I make any mistakes in my judgements, I’ll be sure to fix them when I have the chance.

Special Item: Max Revive--given to a random Trainer (green) at the start of the game. It allows that Trainer to resurrect another Trainer who has been wolfed (not lynched).
In this game, the Humans are given a Seer who is guarded and will probably last until the end of the game due to the Guardian and a Reviver (The Item).  The Wolves are only given a Master Wolf, and there only 10 Players.  As a best case scenario for the Humans. the Seer will only have to seer 7 Players, so the chances of seering a Wolf is 2/7 N1, then 2/5 N2, then 2/3 N3.  Even though a scenario like this isn’t very likely, it shows us at how much of an advantage the Humans can be at.  I would suggest removing the Item and adding another Human.  I would also suggest making the Wolves just a tiny bit more powerful, such as a Wolf Shaman or something like that.  Be creative.

This game is also a bit Human sided.  The Seer has a 3/10 chance of seering a Wolf N1, and the number could decrease by up to three players less until every next Night Phase since he/she can trust all Green seerings.  I would suggest adding maybe a Miller and Master Wolf or as I suggested to SlowPokemon, make the Wolves a bit more powerful, with a Master Wolf and another power Wolf.

I’m too tired right now, but this looks a bit interesting.  It’s a Manhunt with Items, though I’m sure more experienced players like Master_Gamer38 and Nakah wouldn’t like a game like this, for the same reason I said at the beginning of my post; the Items are being used as crutches for the Humans.  In TWG, the regular Human role is probably doing the most interrogations and having the most chats.  They won’t be able to make sure that a player was a Wolf or Human a majority of times and they have to learn how to play with their gut and use logic (And later on looooove) to find the Wolves, not seer people they feel are suspicious just to make sure.  The game can become too easy that way.

^^ Well, the quote would be too long

This is an EXACT replica of Concerto's TWG VIII, so take it up with him. I'm going to change the story, and make it more future like, it will still be mafia themed!!!

Hint: I don't care about any of your stories. The game could be about Jesus returning and the Apocalypse, but that wouldn't interest me any more than a manhunt with "GENERIC WOLF A" VS. "HUMANS A B C D", etc. It comes down to the game mechanics, not the fun little fiction added in for the sake of background.

Also, Concerto's game is a poor example to relate to, as he did not consult anyone before making the game(which wasn't 100% balanced either) and he hand picked the roles. Remember how fast that game went by?

Right now I'm saying SFK would get my host vote, so long as he changes the 'Polygraph' seering item to a Psychic item(One that tells the number of remaining reds each night). In that case, the game won't be so easy.

Everyone else, your games aren't totally bad(I don't want any of you to get discouraged), but they're not up to par quite yet either. Most of you only have a few games of experience, and so it would be to your benefit to study the mechanics of game developing and hosting. It's really not all that difficult, but it's imperative that you have a decent knowledge before taking on a real game with real players.

i also could careless about stories at the start but i did like how nakah incorporated the events in game witht he story... now i would host this but would rather play but if people do like this idea and need a host i will.. just an idea

12 Players
Wolves:
master wolf: hes be seered green.
seer wolf: he would have the ability to seer humans helping the search for the guardian
wolf

Humans:
Guardian
Seer
Vigi

Item: This item would only go to a human character but could be sent through a pm to the host. This would revive any player that has been killed off in the game. So a human could revive a strong human or may give up the power to a wolf or even revive a wolf.

So this item revives any random player that has been killed off? That would be more interesting, but making it have a 50% chance of success in reviving a human and a 50% chance of backfiring and reviving any random player might make it even more interesting.

Also, my say is not final. Any of the six that I named in the previous post are also authorized to give the final say in hosting(I would like to know who is chosen though). I only bolded SFK because that's the old way of doing things for host signups. Whether you bold it or not doesn't matter to me. I'm just going to let this work itself out until the majority can come to a consensual agreement. Then we can start signups.

Let's see, I think SFK should get this one. Master Gamer doesn't have a good idea, and mine and askalice's pretty much suck (sorry dude! xD). DrP's are meh but better than the previously named ones.

My vote goes to SuperFireKirby.

Yeah, we're cool now.  8)

And this is weird, 6 pages for a host signup thread. :)

Soooo... do I win?

And if so, Nakah or Mg will need to make the sign up thread as well as the actual game thread since they are the only ones who can make topics in here.

Personally, I like MG's a little more than SFK's but I'm willing to play SFK's just to get to an agreement.
