Title: What to play at performance?
Post by: Offkey on March 07, 2011, 02:39:32 PM
Fellow geeks,

In the near future I get to play some stuff at university performances, but I'm still not quite sure what to play really, like maybe the audience loves pieces of which you'd never expect it, and vice versa. Anyone got any experience here? The stuff I can play/could practice to a decent level before performing:

•   Ultimate Koopa
•   Fatalize
•   DKC Bonus Blitz
•   Lost Woods
•   OoT Market
•   Rusty Bucket Bay
•   Yoshi’s Island Athletic
•   SMB3 Athletic
•   Celadon City
•   Elite 4
•   Mumbo’s Mountain
•   Hyrule Castle Courtyard
•   Kotake & Koume
•   Midna’s Desperation
•   Outset Island
•   G/S Bicycle
•   Zanarkand
•   Kakariko village
•   SMB overworld
•   SMB underwater
•   Windfall
•   OoT title
•   Zelda’s lullaby

Furthermore I could probably learn stuff of equal difficulty as well. Thanks ^_^

you'd probably want something that's recognizable yet has enough that keeps them interested.

•   Ultimate Koopa
•   Lost Woods
•   Yoshi’s Island Athletic
•   SMB3 Athletic
•   Celadon City
•   Elite 4
•   Mumbo’s Mountain
•   Hyrule Castle Courtyard
•   Kotake & Koume
•   Midna’s Desperation
•   Outset Island
•   G/S Bicycle
•   Kakariko village
•   SMB overworld
•   SMB underwater
•   Windfall
•   OoT title

the mario pieces are most likely going to get the most attention.

Hmm I see, thanks for the replies. Something else: I might be playing a duet there as well, is there any easy way to find out if duet arrangements here are meant for 1 or 2 pianos?

From top staff to bottom staff, they should go from highest notes to lowest notes if that makes sense.

with 1 piano there should be a primo part which is a grand staff with two treble clefs and a secondo part with two bass clefs. also the words "four hands" would be in the title somewhere. from the top to the bottom the order is

If it was for two pianos, it would have 4 staff lines with two standard piano grand staves. also it would probably have "piano 1" and "piano 2" on  there somewhere.

Right well, I've decided to go with:

In that order. Any thoughts?
