Title: [MUL] PMD: Blue/Red Rescue Team - "Great Canyon"
Post by: SlowPokemon on July 13, 2011, 06:48:25 AM
Completed and on site (http://www.ninsheetmusic.org/browse/series/Pokemon)

Today I'm requesting one of my favorite songs from a great soundtrack. Here's a link to the song - Great Canyon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrvgAcxG4nI).

I really love this song, how it sounds like some ancient waltz. But anyway I would appreciate this being done, and I would prefer it to be fairly playable without being crazily hard; but also something that will sound like the original. XD I know that's kind of hard to do, but I'm only requesting right now.

When it's not done in three days, I start DEMANDING

This makes me smile SlowPokemon :) . You see, I arrange a lot of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon music, so naturally I've had Great Canyon arranged already as it too is one of my favorites, so you get your request fulfilled immediately!

[GBA/DS] Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red/Blue Rescue Team
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Great Canyon (Two pianos):
[MIDI] (http://www.mediafire.com/?0qfg4c5z76nlww7) [PDF] (http://www.mediafire.com/?i51bbm0idn0ck83) [SIB] (http://www.mediafire.com/?jkbwji29qu85aia)

Now yes, I realize this is a two pianos arrangement, but it can also be played solo if you adhere to the following outline. If playing solo, play from the first piano measures 1-3, from the second measure 4, from the first measures 5-12, and from the second piano measure 13-28. Don't be scared off by all the switching I just mentioned, it's really quite simple.

During my experience arranging this piece, I find your interpretation to be fairly accurate. Waltz-like yes, because the time signature is 3/4, but "ancient" as you say because the whole song is in pentatonic scale, a scale that is the basis of Chinese and Mongolian music.

Necro, but relevant. I think you may be happy to know Slow that I got around to making a solo arrangement of "Great Canyon", which you can check out below.

Really excellent. I'm not really in a position to psychoanalyze it like I did your last arrangement (because I'm away from home) but I surveyed the PDF and it seems accurate as well as playable. When I get home sometime in the next week I'll try playing it, or at least compare it to the original song so I can give some feedback.
