What do you think about Mario Kart 7's and Super Mario 3D Land's names? Could be better.
BTW, coming on November and December. ;D
Not sure about MK, SM3D looks kinda nice. Mario games are far from being my favorites but they're still fun to play once in a while. I may get SM3D because of the console's price drop.
I've always been a really big fan of Mario Kart. I'd really like to see what new things they've added. AND THERE BETTER BE RETRO TRACKS.
Mario Kart looks iffy but SM3D looks awesome.
Quote from: triforced1 on July 29, 2011, 11:06:31 AMAND THERE BETTER BE RETRO TRACKS.
Don´t worry! Have you seen the E3 2011 trailer? Retro tracks appear.
Look for example at 0:23, 0:31 (Maple Treeway! Yay!) or 0:33 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G0Q58-C0ME)
SM3D-opinions:
Name (since you asked): Sounds like a low budget party-game, but I don't care so much about the name
Previews: Looks nice, but the Galaxy-style theme is getting a little annoying :/ All the art-styles looks like SMG. Oh well, it looks like a nice game, and I'm getting it if I can get a 3DS
MK7-opinions:
Name: I can live with it, "Mario Kart 3DS" would be better though
Previews: Looks like I thought it would, the paragliders was surprising though. Gonna get it if I get a 3DS

Hmm... It makes sense. However, I´d like more "Super Mario
: 3D Land" or simply "Super Mario Bros. 3D".
Edit: BTW, this was released some days ago:
They´ve nailed the freakin logo! :o
Although the nomenclature of Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land is a bit odd in terms of how it sounds, I think that it also helps offset the widespread misconception that the 3DS is a "3D-DS". Say they named it "Mario Kart 3DS"; many people might think "Oh, they just re-made Mario Kart DS in 3D." With the name "Mario Kart 7", although unconventional-sounding since Mario Kart installments have never followed a numerical system of naming sequels, the title conveys the message of "Hey, this is a brand new Mario Kart that you've never seen before, exclusive to the 3DS!"
OK, so... just checked the recent news, and Nintendo has finally released the official logo for Super Mario 3D Land. Here you go:

Where do I start? Well... It´s simply perfect. Nintendo does pretty nice logos! :o
EDIT: Oh! And check this out:
Director of Super Mario 3D Land would like to see a remake of Super Mario Sunshine in 3D
Yoshiaki Koizumi, the director of Super Mario 3D Land has suggested that he would like to see Super Mario Sunshine in 3D, along with the Galaxy games:
"I can say that I really would like to see a lot of those games that use 3D worlds on 2D display just so I could see what they look like in 3D and see what kind of different experiences people would have playing through them on a 3D display. So in that sense I would love to see Sunshine and both Galaxy games presented in 3D, and a lot of the Zelda [games] would be interesting too."
Source (http://nintendo3dsblog.com/director-of-super-mario-3d-land-would-like-to-see-super-mario-sunshine-in-3d)
Should we expect a Super Mario Sunshine 2 announcement anytime soon? ::)
I like the idea of remaking Super Mario Sunshine on the 3DS, considering the system is nearly as powerful as the Gamecube which the original was on. Remaking the Galaxy games on the 3DS is pointless though, since they're still new games. Some people have never played or beat Super Mario Sunshine (like me), so there is value in that.

It's an upcoming game for the 3DS, combining elements from Super Mario 64 and the Galaxy games. The Tanooki suit also makes its return in the game, generating a lot of hype from Mario fans.

I'm just kidding. I just had to take the opportunity to make a jest at you, that's all. Good humour.
The news about Super Mario 3D Land is fairly obscure, so you'd have to be crawling through blogs to find out stuff about it, so I don't blame you for not knowing.
Hmph.

Galaxy on the 3DS? I think is pointless. There´s no graphics improvement and it would be the same thing. I think Galaxy fits better a console, not a portable. It´s the same with this: people who want Prime Trilogy on 3DS. Why? The Wii version is badass already! :P
Nintendo, just give us a Wario World 2, an announcement for a new F-Zero 3DS, an Emerald remake and a Majora´s Mask 3D. You win money, we are happy. Everyone wins! :(
Well quite honestly I'm more concerned with SM3DL, and I didn't care for Sunshine enough that I don't know if I would buy a remake. Emerald remake, though? Ruby and Sapphire 3D or something? One hundred percent.
Meh, I don't really care, just as long as they start selling good games on the 3DS. Ocarina of Time can only last for so long. Sooner or later people are going to get bored and put it down. They need another good 3DS game desperatly
Oh and another PMD would be nice

Hopefully, Starfox is coming soon, right? My 3DS is dusty, I only use it to play Game & Watch Gallery, Shantae and Super Mario Land. :P
I want another PMD SO BADLY. Ugh. It needs to be made.
What about those PMD that were going to be released on Wii? Lightning something, Flare something and Stormy something? (Sorry, I don´t know the full name :P) Or only in Japan?
For the WiiWare, I guess... ???
OH bah those don't count. I mean like another game that's like the DS ones.
The Wiiware PMD games can't really even count as real installments in the series. If you read up on them, you'll see that they have virtually no plot whatsoever. Your avatar isn't even a human transformed into a Pokémon, which, in my opinion, disqualifies the titles as being true PMD games. The game also borrows graphics from "My Pokémon Ranch," so I was already disinterested. Mii-fied Pokémon just doesn't work.

Really? Oh, well, didn´t know that. I agree with you here: "Mii-fied Pokémon just doesn't work." That´s not Pokemon! I don´t even like to see Miis on Pokemon games (Pokemon Ranch? Pile of s***). I don´t like Miis at all... :P

Nope. I have the feeling that they are all the same: the same body, the same clothes, the same everything! That´s why I don´t like Miis, they should be more customizable. Example: Change the damn color of the pants, hats would be nice too, maybe different types of clothes (dresses, disguises, etc...), and the list goes on... :P
Oh that's right, Kirby Mass Attack is coming out for the DS September 19. I would like a 3DS game though too. :|

WARIOMAN98´s EXCITING NEWS REPORT:
Hi! I´m WarioMan98 and this is my exciting news report! Are you curious about Nintendo´s conference this September 13? I bet you will after reading this (http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/08/23/nintendo_september_announcement/)! According to andriasang (http://www.andriasang.com/e/), Nintendo is preparing BIG announcements around that time. It´s not confirmed that those announcements will be released on September 13, but it´s the most likely option, though. Additionally, other sources say that Nintendo is planning on announcing an EXTREMELY BIG TITLE! Yeah, kaboom! Another AAA title besides Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land and Kid Icarus: Uprising! Could we see Captain Falcon or Rick Wheeler again racing on Big Blue´s circuits? Pikmin 3? New Zelda or Majora´s Mask 3D? Pokemon R/S remakes? Metroid Prime 4? New Mario? Or... Perhaps AN ENTIRELY NEW FRANCHISE!?! :o
Stay tuned, and don´t forget to check out Nintendo´s conference! 8)

Wow, that was a really fast reply... I´ve just finished writing it! :D
Nah, there's way too many Pokemon spin-offs. I'd like to see more of the under-appreciated Nintendo franchises get some more games (not ports). Star Fox needs an original game, I'd like more Pikmin besides just Pikmin 3, I've never played an F-Zero game, and there's quite a few other series too.
That said, I'm excited about Mario Kart 7 and SM3DL (despite the strange names), Skyward Sword, both new Kirby games, and Star Fox 64 3D. I'll wait to hear what others say about Kid Icarus before I get it and Luigi's Mansion is still too far off for me to get really excited about it.

I totally agree with you there. The PMD games were very good at implementing the legendaries to create a plot, and I can almost already see something like the "world's balance" being put askew by a conflict between yin and yang (Zekrom/Reshiram). Unfortunately, I this series probably can't qualify under the term "Extremely big title".
OH god, imagine if the big final boss (Rayquaza, Dialga) was a double battle with those two holy shit

Me either. I'm not gonna buy it. My brother is; if he likes it I might consider it, but there are too many things I need to buy that are more important.

WILL 3 BIG GAMES WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON SEPTEMBER, 13TH? 100% RUMORThis anonymous rumor has been running around 4chan a while ago. Please note that it´s anonymous, 100% speculation!
Anyways, here are the news:
Nintendo plans to announce 3 big titles on their press conference this 13th. Supposedly, these are the games:
1. Monster Hunter Tri G
2. Mach Raider Unchained
3. Baten Kaitos Silence of a Mechanized Son
It´s disappointing, since I expected a new F-Zero or something completely new, instead of that "Mach Raider"... thingy. Monster Hunter Tri G sounds nice, though.
My perfect list would be: New F-Zero, Pokemon Colosseum 2 (XD sequel with 5 gen pokes) and Pokemon Trading Card Game 3DS (very unlikely, though :P).
I can´t say anything on Baten Kaitos because I don´t know the series, so... :-\

MONSTER HUNTER TRI G CONFIRMED AND 3DS SECOND CIRCLE PADThat´s right. Moster Hunter Tri G is confirmed in this week´s Famitsu magazine. The first blurry (http://nintendo3dsblog.com/first-blurry-look-at-monster-hunter-tri-g-on-the-3ds) scan proves it. Could that mean that the other 2 games from 4chan will also be announced? Also, details about the 3DS second circle pad were released. According to the same magazine (http://nintendo3dsblog.com/first-look-at-second-circle-pad-attachment-for-the-3ds), the second circle pad will be put in a cradle, along with a new button, R2, but no L2. It´ll be placed towards the right of the ABXY buttons. It´s pretty useless to me! But we´ll have to wait until we have more info about it´s functions. What do you think? :(
UPDATE: Capcom has no plans on releasing Monster Hunter Tri G outside Japan. Anyways, here you have the official site (http://www.capcom.co.jp/monsterhunter/3G/index.html), in case you´re interested.

lol A voice. Weird... :o
The second circle pad seems unnecessary and it's making the 3DS look awfully clunky and ugly.
Nintendo realised only having one pad was a giant mistake, and the whole deal with the 3D focus was also a giant mistake. This is just a solution for early adopters and they're going to rebrand and rerelease the handheld next year with a new model and focus on games rather than 3D.

Quote from: triforced1 on September 03, 2011, 10:05:17 AMStar Fox 64 3D is coming out in a little over a week. Any thinking about buying it? I never played the first one so I probably will.
I just bought it today! I never played the original so I'm excited to try it out. I believe that it's been getting good reviews so I'm confident that I'll turn out fine. I hope it does well because I believe that it's been said that if it does poorly, they might shelve the Star Fox franchise. I bet this'll reinvigorate interest in the series though, and maybe Nintendo will actually make a true Star Fox game for the Wii U.
As far as the rumored Mach Rider goes, that would be cool. I hope Nintendo revives more of its old franchises like that. They've got plenty of IP's to work off of, they don't need to be making new ones. They just need to update their massive backlog and act like they're new.
And the second circle pad. I hope that's entirely optional. I don't care how cheap it ends up being, I'm not buying it unless it comes bundled with a game. One Circle Pad works just fine and really should not be this big of a deal. I think the 3DS will do just fine this holiday with Mario, Star Fox, and whatever games are announced at the conference. I think everyone was just disappointed at launch and with the price. Now that games are coming out and the price is lower, everything should be fine. Apparently, Nintendo reported a 260% sales increase since the price drop, so the huge fiasco will probably be dropped by E3 next year. Unless this circle pad bombs. They better handle it well.
Quote from: Sekter77 on September 09, 2011, 02:08:13 PMI just bought it today!

I haven't even beaten Black yet... Grey can wait. Also, didn't they say they had no plans for B/W sequel anyway?
Gamefreak announced that and then Masuda was like "Where in the world did that come from, please disregard that announcement"
Quote from: Jub3r7 on September 11, 2011, 01:17:29 PMGRAY/GREY IS STILL NECESSARY.
No it isn't. Black and White just came out, and you should just get one of those and stop waiting for the remake. I don't even know if I would get the remake. It sickens me that they might make one so soon.
I am personally hoping for a Ruby/Sapphire remake. It wouldn't have to be for the 3DS, the DS might actually be better because of connectivity with BW. Plus they did say they would be "pushing the DS as well as 3DS", and we haven't seen a DS game announcement this year yet. Something new would also be nice, as long as it's moderately good.
Even if it were on the DS, the Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza thing would still be awesome. Think of the Reshiram/Zekrom cutscenes in BW or the Ho-Oh/Lugia cutscenes in HGSS.
so yah RSE remake has my vote.
I'm also hoping for a new PMD game.
It's a family tradition that me and my two brothers each get a different version of the generation.
My two older brothers got Black and White. It would be disappointing if I got a duplicate. :P
I wouldn't mind an RSE remake or a different game.
Anyways, how long has it even been since B/W came out? Saying that it would "sicken" you seems a little overboard.
Serebii says it's most likely the announcement of a Mewtwo event, so don't get your hopes all high up.
I'm still excited, though. It could be something awesome.
FireRed and LeafGreen came out before Emerald, but Platinum was released before HGSS. This could be either a remake or a third version - and both sound equally fantastic. We know that either one of them will be announced some day, that could be next week or in a year. We'll see.
I hope it's not. We need decent game news because we all know no one's going to get Pokemon Rumble Blast or whatever it was...
I'm still in shock from the sheer thought of a RSE remake :DDD
Pokemon Ruby was the first Pokemon game I played, and I played it nonstop for a month. It took me FOREVER to catch Groudon. I loved that game. THEN MY FUCKING SP BROKE. I dropped it while it was open and the hinges snapped. GRAAAHHH
So yeah, I'm hoping for a remake.

Quote from: SlowPokemon on September 11, 2011, 01:55:08 PMso yah RSE remake has my vote.
Makes sense. It's the only Pokemon RPG region that's not on the DS.

True, but I'm talking about the 'original' RPG Pokemon games.
Quote from: fingerz on September 11, 2011, 03:21:53 PMTrue, but I'm talking about the main series.
Fixed? lol.
Yeah, that's what I meant. The others are just branches.
Well, I'll add a poll with the possibilities so you can vote the one you would want, and let's see what option wins! Poll closes September 18th morning, before "Pokemon Smash".
My vote goes to a third installment on the Colosseum series, we NEED a game like that with 5 gen AND 4 gen (those weren't included on XD either) pokemon with the models from Pokedex 3D. R/S remakes could be released at the same time and connect with the new Colosseum.

Except PokePark was actually incredibly fun. I don't know why people are always so quick to judge everything. Usually in spinoff games the second is even better than the first anyway.

For what? Lol for Masuda to change his mind? I would say this was just a rumor, but typically if Serebii or Bulbapedia supports the idea it's true. I just hope it would be for the 3DS.
no but
The "shocker" is supposed to be announced on the 18th. Corocoro released details for PokePark 2.
...I don't think it's the big new game...
We'll see. :) I believe it will be that game though. I hope I'm wrong, but I think it will be.
I hope it's not it. @_@ It should be for the DS I hope.
If it is Pokepark 2, it would make sense, as it would be a great way to use the 3D models seen in Pokedex 3D.
Pokepark 2 is for the Wii.
I've heard Pokepark 1 is really good, so I hope this one lives up to everyone elses expectations. :P
Yes, DS fans are getting a little blood-thirsty for a new Pokemon game. I know I am.
Pokepark is, well, to put it nicely, kid friendly.
Don't get me wrong; it's still a fun game, though.

ANIMAL CROSSING EEEEEE
Animal Crossing is top on my list.
Nintendo's releasing so much great games this year. I don't know if I can get all of them :p
Also oh shit my idiot self never pre-ordered Super Mario 3D land
welp that's going on the hanukkah list
Super Mario 3D Land will be the greatest ever. Luigi's Mansion 2 will be if Super Mario fails.
I can sense it's gonna be good. I just can.
Quote from: SlowPokemon on September 13, 2011, 04:58:48 PMSuper Mario 3D Land will be the greatest ever. Luigi's Mansion 2 will be if Super Mario fails.
Luigi's Mansion 2 FTW! ;D
EDIT: Also, I want to comment some thoughts on this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ndC83JkuXY
1-
At 0:12: Tanoombas? Not bad.
2-
At 0:15: Return of propellers blocks, great! Also, something perhaps ignored by most of you, the blue P button on pixelated Mario's ear! Weren't those the ones from Super Mario World? Another reference? I have the feeling SM3DL is a mix of all mario games in one. Think about it.
3-
At 0:20-0:21: Flying goombas are new, great! But what's that green thingy? It seems to be a clock, maybe a little extra seconds to the countdown? Oh! And the red coin ring at 0:21! Same thing as New Super Mario Bros Wii? Hope so!
4-
At 0:34: Very intelligent form of using the 3D for something useful! Glad they put effort on creating original ideas.
5-
At 0:35: A lot of things to say: The 3 big golden coins in each level return. Not happy with that at all. The level select is very (almost exactly the same) as the one in Galaxy. I'd rather a nice hub world, or at least something similar to the map from Super Mario World or Super Mario Bros 3...
6-
0:40: Another great use of 3D. Reminds me A LOT to those rooms in Wario World where you had to turn the camera to proceed. Another reference to Wario World? Maybe... Or maybe it's just that I want a Wario World 3DS so bad and I see hints everywhere... :-\
7-
0:52: Looks a lot like the bowser battle from the original Super Mario Bros., but in 3D (graphics, I mean).
8-
1:07-1:12: The flag at the end of each stage is back, but now without the little castle or fireworks. Instead, Mario celebrates his victory and some confetti is thrown over him. Nice level ending, but I wonder if it's the same in all of them...
That's it. Some things I found interesting in the new Super Mario 3D Land trailer. :)
Tanoombas are not just in the beanbean kingdom. They also appeared in partners in time as well as some smb games.

Yeah, they appeared through out the Mario and Luigi RPG's. The red ring wasn't the first to appear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, though. I'm not sure which game it did started.

Probably, since they shouldn't change the release date. I do think you'll get them for Christmas.
Quote from: Roz~ on September 21, 2011, 05:22:46 PMProbably, since they shouldn't change the release date. I do think you'll get them for Christmas.
If Nintendo didn't release them for Christmas... they would be very stupid.
If Nintendo released incomplete games for Christmas... they would be very stupid.
They did that in the past, releasing incomplete games just because it was Christmas. I don't think it's going to be the case with those two games though.
Yeah, they've probably been working on them since 3DS was thought of
I mean, these games kind of set the stage for the 3DS for Mario! I think they'll be great, like SM64 DS and Mario Kart DS. (Actually, I think they'll be better!)
Super Mario 3D Land...oh jeez it looks so awesome.
I decided to put a list of my already preordered games:
- Zelda Skyward Sword (w/ golden wiimote)
- Super Mario 3D Land
- Mario Kart 7
- Cave Story 3D
- Sonic Generations (3DS version)
- Professor Layton and the Last Specter
I haven't bought a lot of games this year, only Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D, DOAD, Pilotwings Resort and Starfox 64 3D, and maybe 1 or 2 for the Wii, so I have some saved money. ;D
I'm not sure about Pokemon Rumble Blast and Kirby's Return to Dream Land. I fear it has a similar style to Epic Yarn, which I didn't really like. I want good ol'Kirby from Amazing Mirror and Nightmare in Dream Land, not a pink yarn thingy. :P
Well, resuming... My 3DS will be on fire this winter! ::)
Return to Dreamland is classic Kirby style. Yeah I didn't like Epic Yarn much either...
Game I'm probably most excited for: Luigi's Mansion 2.
Quote from: SlowPokemon on September 24, 2011, 07:18:01 AMReturn to Dreamland is classic Kirby style. Yeah I didn't like Epic Yarn much either...

Well, I'll just wait a bit for more info...
And of course, I didn't list Kid Icarus, Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing (yes, I like it a lot), Paper Mario, the Wii U... :D
Also, I loved the first, and Luigi's Mansion 2 won't be an exception! More than one mansions... when I heard that, I was immediately sold! ;D
Maybe I'm just the only person in the world who is more excited for LM2 than if I were with those bloody FPS like Call of Duty and so (I think they are some coming out this winter too). I don't really like those war games, and it's one of the reasons why I don't have a PS3. :P
PS3 = RPGs.
XBox 360 = FPS.
Anyway I still have to buy a 3DS. One day.
Animal Crossing has always been great in the past, but I'm not expecting much with the 3DS installment. Looks kind of stupid tbh. I mean, swimming? Really? And your character is the mayor of the town? Nah, I'll stick with Wild World unless this is one of those ZOMG THIS IS AMAZING games in the eyes of people that aren't just AC fanatics.
The multiple mansions thing is also what I'm most iffy about. The first was great, I think the more similar this game can be without making it a carbon copy, the better.
Wait, multiple mansions? o_O Eh?
Do you know anything about the game? XD just asking. :)
Yeah, there are multiple mansions.
I've only seen a few trailers. XD I know you can swim. That's my main knowledge about it.
Your character as the mayor... but what about Tortimer? D:
We're talking about Luigi's Mansion 2. XD lol yeah if they do the mayor thing, what will Tortimer be? :P
Should I get Mario 3d land first, or mariokart 7?
Mario 3d Land comes out first...but its only for one player...mariokart 7 is multiplayer...but comes out later....

It is for big franchises like Pokémon.

There's still time? The game doesn't come out until november.
In other news, 4 Swords 25th Annniversary came out today for download on the eShop and for DSiware. It's free, so I don't see why you wouldn't get it.
I've already got Four Swords on the GBA, I'm pretty sure...
It's a new game that includes the GBA version if I remember correctly. So it's worth downloading.
Oh, huh. I'll grab my 3DS in a bit, then.
Oh my... I haven't played 3DS for more than 5 months now... When will they release all the good games? O.o
looks like november :P
...I am really not surprised that only few people bought the 3DS. Not a single good game has been released yet :/.
Ocarina and Star Fox are the only ones, and they're remakes.
Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars is an awesome game if you like turn based strategys.
I like DOAD.
Never played a DOA game before, but this is pretty cool! It's my only 3DS game that keeps me giving messages on outfits updates, challenges and so. Also, there are some characters very difficult to unlock and a secret one, Shiden (took me 100 tries :P). I love fighting on Sector 3 from Metroid Other M... Ridley looks great in 3D! ;D
Super Mario Land 2:6 golden coins is now available at eshop.

nope.
Quote from: Roz~ on September 28, 2011, 06:35:48 PMIt's a new game that includes the GBA version if I remember correctly. So it's worth downloading.
Actually, it's the same as the GBA game, but there's some new levels based on older Zelda titles like the original LoZ, Link to the Past, etc. The trailer on the eShop demonstrates a few of them. But anyway, it's free so there's really no reason to not get it. I think the free download ends in February so don't procrastinate!
Quote from: Olimar12345 on September 29, 2011, 01:31:00 PMSuper Mario Land 2:6 golden coins is now available at eshop.
Oh my god, yes!!!
This is one of my favorite games ever! Maybe when I get 4 bucks to throw away I'll download it.
So I changed the topic name again to "The 3DS and Wii U Topic", so we can talk about both 3DS and Wii U games, news, questions...
I had this idea because this Friday I bought "Pikmin 2" (New Play Control!) for Wii, and in just two days, I'm in love with those little cute creatures! Never played a Pikmin game before, so I said: "They say it's wonderful, let's try it then". Did you know that the name "Pikmin" comes from Miyamoto's dog Pik?
... ... ...
Oh! Yeah! I wanted to know your ideas, or thoughts, on the upcoming and elusive Pikmin 3 for the Wii U. 5 types of Pikmin aren't enough. Maybe black, orange and dark green should be included. Also, 100 pikmins? No way! I want to control up to 1000 at the same time! I want to throw them all to giant monsters and see my screen full of colors! ;D
I don't mind waiting a little bit more for Pikmin 3. At least, I'm sure that they'll have better ideas for the Wii U controller and that the HD graphics will make the Pikmins look awesome! I wonder why Olimar (and maybe Louie) return to the "Pikmin Planet" (we all know is Earth) now? ::)

I never said i hated him, but Waluigi would be pretty pointless in a Mario platform. Playing as Yoshi with no Mario on back is kinda boring. And even Wario in SM64DS was a bit silly.

Agreed! If they include Wario or Waluigi, they should create a backstory about why do they join Mario. I bet Wario doesn't mind at all if Peach is kidnapped... :-\
Iwata Asks interview (http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/3ds/super-mario-3d-land/0/0) is up for Super Mario Land 3D. All the stuff they talked about has got me really excited. I was definitely loooking forward to it, but now I'm pretty confident that this will be one of the best Mario games. There's a ton of polish behind this.
And for anyone concerned, Tanooki Mario still has the Statue ability! Strange that they never mentioned it before.
The statue ability is kinda useless... I mean, it wasn't included in any Mario game until now, and personally I don't think it's necessary. They could add a new Mario move or something... :-\
Actually, it was one of the attributes of the Tanooki Suit in SMB3. A lot of people were upset that the Tanooki Suit couldn't fly or turn into a statue when the first info about the game came out. But now we know that both things are in the game. The P-Wing is an Assist that helps players who die a lot by helping them fly around and Tanooki Mario can in fact turn into a statue.
Another reference to SMB3 is the Boomerang Suit. You could get a hammer suit to throw hammers in SMB3, but now in 3D Land, you get to throw boomerangs instead.
Turning into a statue might be useless, but it's still nice to see it return with the Tanooki Suit. Nostalgia is a powerful force. As far as new moves go anyway, there is the new roll technique and the Propeller Suit Block is coming from NSMB Wii. That's still fairly new.

The thing is that Luigi is playable after all... Who cares when? :)
Oh! And WTF, NINTENDO??? Seriously, QUEEN BEE ON MARIO KART 7?!? It's not that I don't like her, but instead they could have included a more epic character! :'(
They have K Rool, Fawful, Dimentio, King Boo, the Koopalings including Bowser Jr, Funky, Diddie, Dixie and Candy Kong, Princess Shroob, Petey Piranha and even some of WarioWare... How about Mona, Jimmy T. or Dr. Crygor? >:(
But nooooooooooooo... It had to be Queen Bee... -_-
Anyways, It's good to see Wiggler, Metal Mario and Lakitu. Just hope they include more chracters... :P

Here's an article. (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/28270) It cites Nintendo Power as the source so I'd say that's pretty trustworthy.
Metal Mario is an extremely redundant character and Wiggler/Queen Bee really is a goofy decision. I just want them to announce Dry Bones again! Waluigi would be a good choice too. Lakitu was kind of a cool surprise I suppose, but I hope that doesn't lead to some slippery slope where we'll be able to play as Goombas, Thwomps, or other random Mario enemies. (Though a random Mario enemy is my favorite character...)

What's wrong with the goal pole? This isn't Mario Galaxy 3 you know. It's supposed to be a continuation of NSMB and the like, but with a more modern Mario flair. The flagpole is just as integral to the Mario franchise as the star is. Also, Star Medals add a lot more replayability because it encourages you to explore the level. I'm really excited to aim for 100% completion on this game. Really, I don't know why these things are so detrimental to the game for you.

Cause searching for a hidden star is about 10x the fun of a bunch of straightforward flagpole ending levels. NSMB is fun but SM64/Galaxy is far superior.

I agree with you that finding a star is more fun. SM64 is probably my favorite Mario game because of its non-linearity, but I don't want every Mario game to be that way. I think it's pretty cool that they're doing a mix of 2D and 3D stuff and am glad that they're both trying something new and old at the same time. Really, if they had just put a star at the end of each level instead of a flagpole, it would've only been an aesthetic change. But hey, everyone's got their own opinion.
Of course! I was just hoping this to be more of a Galaxy type game. It's sort of a mix between 3D and 2D isn't it? I mean, 3D world, but powerups and flagpoles. XD either way, it's going to be tons of fun.

Wiggler in Mario Kart? It better the one from Super Mario Sunshine. Doesn't even need a kart, does not slow down by petty obstacles or used items, but is also dang hard to control and almost impossible to slow down. Would be epic.

there's a 95% chaunce of me never getting the Wii U. I was disappointed with the Wii which has tainted my relationship with Nintendo. There are making up for it with 2 Kirby games on the system(both of which a AMAZING) and finally releasing a new LoZ(I consider TP to be a GameCube game since it was 2 million times better on the GameCube).
But unless their game line up can truly impress me, it just ain't happenin. Perhaps with a Monter Hunter game? MH 3 was probably the best 3rd party game on the Wii besides MadWorld (which will never get a sequel since it was so commercially unsuccessful, unfortunately).
I will get the Wii U solely for Super Smash Bros 4. No questions, hands-down.
Wii U for Pikmin 3, SSB4, Mario Kart (you know it will happen), Kingdom Hearts III (hopefully), Zelda, Pokemon, Metroid... Well, all the reasons why I buy a new Nintendo console! :D
I don't know why a lot of people was disappointed by the Wii U! Ok, the name is not "that" appealing, but c'mon! It's revolutionary just like Wii! I can see a lot of VERY COOL AND AWESOME possibilities with that controller! And they did say that they were focusing on Wii U's launch and online, so... Why all the disappointment? I loved the Wii U since I first saw it's controller capabilities! What would you like, then? :(
It's rumored that like the other KH games, KHIII will only be on PS3. I'm glad I have one.

I don't think you're dumb. I love all the NSMB games, but all of them are extensions of the exact same material. So it's not really worth getting an entire console just for a game you could essentially play on the DS, Wii, or 3DS.

I am too. I'm enough of a Nintendo collector to buy the Wii U no matter how awful it is. Even if Pikmin 3 weren't on it, I probably would still buy it for the collector value. Who knows? If no one buys it, then it may become the next Virtual Boy, and those things sell for hundreds on eBay.

I won't have enough money to buy the WiiU at launch, but I'll definitely buy it when there's a price drop. Hopefully there are gonna be good JRPGs for the WiiU.

I feel like I should actually give the series a chance- more than 1/4 of the first game. Does the storyline work to start with Pikmin 3?
Unfortunately, I haven't played Pikmin 3. :P
I actually figured that you had researched the pre-release reviews intensely and knew everything there was to know.

Well there's not a lot of info on the story yet, but here's what I know:
There are four new characters who come to the Planet of the Pikmin for currently unknown reasons, and explore the depths of the planet after having become lost. Olimar and Louie are absent from these four for reasons unknown, but supposedly for a good reason.
Congratulations, you now now as much of the story as I do. :)

If someone is wondering, the "Deluxe Digital Promotion" consists in a 10% discount on every digital download from the eshop until December 2014, 500 free nintendo points and some extra points per download (I predict 25 or 50). Abbreviation: Nintendo Network Premium.
With that much of an increase in storage there's no reason somebody shouldn't get the premium version. However, it's still an abysmally small storage capacity considering that individual games Wii probably average from 2-5gb. Though perhaps they are still going with the whole primitive online route and arent' going to have anything but wiiware esque titles... even still it's a tiny amount of storage....
At least it's expandable but ehhhhh too much about this is just disappointing.
EDIT: And now i just read that they're going to be using blu ray discs storing up to 25GB for games, but taht they will only have access to 1GB of system ram.... that's pretty lousy. Greatly reduces the ability to use large environments or better quality texturing for one quick example. And the fact that they only give you 32GB of storage at max when games are going to be up to 25GB is just silly... They have no good reason to not throw in a 120gb hard drive like the last generation competition. They're going to get burned for mistakes like that and the non-multitouch gamepad display.
I am pretty impressed that they are fully supporting external hard drive though, they must be pretty confident that piracy won't be an issue for a long time because that really helps opens up the door.
I just preordered my wii u from toys r us after seeing how they went so quickly from gamestop and best buy.

I am pretty impressed that they are fully supporting external hard drive though, they must be pretty confident that piracy won't be an issue for a long time because that really helps opens up the door.
They really should release the Deluxe in white, though...
Quote from: BlackDragonSlayer on September 16, 2012, 11:17:31 AMThey really should release the Deluxe in white, though...
And the black in regular (did they do that?)
The white is ugly though
Quote from: KefkaticFanatic on September 17, 2012, 06:28:46 PMThe white is ugly though
But... but it must color coordiante with my Wii... :(
I suppose, however, that we can do a DS/3DS; my old DS Lite was white (now it has a rad Zelda shell), but our 3DS is black (I don't mind the cake layering, actually).
So right now I have a bit of cash saved up.
Here's my plan of action...
October 2 - get Dark Shadows on DVD, even though it's not phenomenal I want to watch it again with my brother and don't want to leave my Tim Burton collection incomplete (I think currently I'm only missing the two Batman films)
October 7 - get Pokemon Black 2. Probably won't get White 2, at least not for a while.
October 23 - get Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward (the sequel to the amazing 999)
October 28 - get Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
Now with Subs!
But I really can't wait for this game, it's at the same standards of the others by the looks of it.
^Same. I'm just glad Phoenix is back, I didn't really enjoy playing with Apollo.
To tell the truth I still haven't finish Apollo's game. I really don't find him as much of an engaging character.
It took me a while to finish the game for that reason. The game is fun, but Apollo... Meh.
Dat doublepost
Now I want it even more ;-;
hAHAH! i can't wait for professor layton and the Miracle's Mask after watching that vid
All of my want.
Why must you tempt me
omg want so much
so much
omg
Also that music sounds very much like the work of Tomohito Nishiura, it would be cool if the two game composers collaborated (though I have to say I greatly prefer Layton music to Ace Attorney music)
Hell yah! Although I pre-ordered the game as soon as I could, it looks like Aksys, the developer, was selling special edition versions of the game that had watches like the ones in game similarly to pre-orders of the previous game, 999.
Sad day for me :<
^YES
That music is a remixed version of the previous soundtrack's opening track :D which is awesome
I need this sooner than later! :<
Going to buy 999 and Last Reward this week or next week probably. Can't wait to play those games!
Quote from: Roz~ on October 23, 2012, 02:24:32 PMGoing to buy 999 and Last Reward this week or next week probably. Can't wait to play those games!
HOLY FUCK THAT COMES OUT TOMORROW!!!11!!1one!!!!eleven1!!!
I might get it, because it turns out there's a good chance I won't be able to get Layton this Sunday :< The only thing is, I found out there are at least 24 endings in the second game, so I doubt I could finish it in a short period of time. So maybe this weekend I'll just play Black 2 some more.
i have a question: Can u put wii games into the wii u console and play them????
Yup, you just move over to the Wii menu and do it.
But you have to transfer your save data with wi-fi, right?
I mean like mario kart wii or super paper mario
Yeah, that's what I said.

I know, that's what I was asking Wariopiano. :P
ok........say u put a wii game disc in the wii u, could u play it on the wii u?
for the third time, YES.
oookkk!
i guess i should get wii u!
^You should. It's very good. Also, get the black version because it comes with Nintendo Land. And that is one of my favorite games ever now.

Holy shit I have a good story about FSM that involves a situation like this. XD
I don't know should I tell it.
No.
i always try to be honest towards my wife.
Good man. Women can smell lies. IDK how, but they do.
Pardon the bump, but WiiU owners: Did anyone else unexpectedly have the wii sports club installed recently?
I downloaded it myself.
same
If you have SpotPass enabled, it gets downloaded automatically.
Saw a trailer for Super Mario 3D World, and damn. It looks good enough for me to want a Wii U. Considering saving up for one.
Right now, Nintendo has a few Wii U holiday bundles in case anyone didn't know about them, all priced at $299.99: one with New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U, one with Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD, and one with Skylanders.... I really want the NSMB bundle, imma try to save for it
I bet my sweet ass that the price drop will come after Christmas.
idk since the mario games combined should be $90 that means I'm essentially paying $210 for a Wii U so I'll take it
Nice, Slow! I think you won't regret it. Wii U is way better than it seems at first
The WWHD is out for the holidays?? oh man i might get it
^When I bought my Zelda WiiU they said they still had plenty of them in stock. You should be able to get one this Christmas!
Well, I know where my holiday money is going!
I broke my Wii U LCD screen and i found out you pay up the ass to Nintendo to replace the unit, so I thought I'd let you all know if it happens to you, you can easily take it apart and replace the screen if you feel confident. it's less than $50 if you do it yourself. just need a $5 screwdriver and the screen.
I'm sure it doesn't apply to any of you, but thought eye'd share.
The wii u sports just randomly appeared in mine
same o.o
Along with a lot of other things.
lol today it downloaded Wii Karaoke U. Uninstalled it as soon as I saw it. :P

DonValentino...I love your sig! =3
but don wii karaoke u is the bestest game ever
omg yugi...I LOVE YOUR SIG!!!
OMG NO...THIS IS SOO NOT RELATED TO THIS TOPIC... IM SORRY PEOPLE
So starting today my 3DS randomly shuts off in the middle of gameplay. It was fine all day but just started this near the evening. I tried to make it shut off by shaking it, thinking something was loose, but whenever it turns off I'm holding it completely still. A quick google search doesn't give much of a solution besides sending it to nintendo, so I was wondering if this ever happened to one of you guys? I want to be sure it's unfixable before I throw in the towel and put an XL on my Christmas list
This started happening to my DSi a couple months ago, but it's worth noting that my DSi is well over four years old. I'd email Nintendo about it and ask.
How regularly does it shut off?
I'd say talk to Nintendo. You'd be surprised what they'll do for you over there, and an expensive fix is almost guaranteed cheaper than a new XL. Plus, this is the OoT3D bundle one, yes? I wouldn't lose that if I could help it, if only because it's worth more than average.
So I messed around with the SD card a bit, and it stopped turning off! I only played it for an hour or so but it stayed on the whole time. I'm really relieved since I love this 3DS :D
:D

Well worth buying. The level design is really creative. Just don't go in expecting Super Mario 64 or anything. It has a bunch of linear levels within an overworld map. That works very well but some might be disappointed in the style as it is pretty much a grander version of Super Mario 3D Land.
It also looks really good and the soundtrack is enjoyable as well.
Yes I think the soundtrack is very well done as well :P
slightly aspects from SMG don't you think?
Yeah the level designs have been pretty thought out well.

http://m.ign.com/articles/2014/01/30/nindendo-ds-games-heading-to-wii-u-virtual-console
What do you all think about this? Good, bad?
Personally, if I had the chance to play Professor Layton in HD, I would do it in a heartbeat. Those games are drawn at 1080p and scaled down for the DS hardware. It'd be awesome to play Ace Attorney on the big screen too, and there are a bunch of other games that would look great.
However, when DS games are already playable on the Nintendo 3DS, I'm not so sure that it's going to sell a Wii U for anybody. IDK what to think about it
Yeah it might not sell a Wii U for people... but I'm interested in the idea.
I get that they're trying to do more for the Wii U, but I think that they'd make a decent profit putting GBA games on the Virtual Console, for either Wii U or 3DS. Nintendo DS games are a bit too recent to really make sense putting on a virtual console, but there is an audience in both younger gamers that never got to experience the big GBA games as well as older gamers who have experienced them and would like to again.
And I mean, a lot of modern series had their beginnings on the GBA. For instance, the 3DS game Mario & Luigi Dream Team is the fourth entry in a series that started on the GBA, and there are a surprising number of references in there that only someone who played the first game would understand.
I think if they did GBA games, it'd sell way better. I'd be more than happy to play GBA games on the Wii U, considering there's a lot I never played that would be nice to play. I can only find so much while hunting for older games...
Now that I think about it, why didn't they do that? It'd make good ties as you said for other games.
Wynaut GC and GBA
Yeah Gamecube would be good too, even if people still have their Wiis and Gamecube systems. I mean, they remade Wind Waker, sooooo...
Ahaha, that reminds me of Luigi's Mansion--a sequel that came out 12 years after the original? If they remade or re-released the original for Wii U, I'm sure a lot of people would buy it.
IDK, I mean I'm excited about the Nintendo DS on Virtual Console because the Nintendo DS had some of my favorite games of all time, but I don't think it was that smart of a company move.
Yeah. I don't need to play DS games on virtual console, since, you know, they all work fine on my 3DS.
I could see their reasoning being that having DS games on the Wii U promotes the use of the Gamepad, something that they really want to do.
Also, based on Iwata's presentation here
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/140130/index.html
it appears that Nintendo is well aware of the issues the backseat-CEOs have been throwing around on internet comments. The question is, will they actually do something about it.
I'm not too hot on paying for any VC with the whole garbage limited by platform and you have to pay to upgrade thing (for Wii to Wii U). Perhaps they'll get a grip for their next console, but given precedent I am hesitant.
Plus you can buy Nintendo games used for faaaaar cheaper than they will likely ever sell them. One of the most annoying things about Nintendo is how they refuse to lower prices of old games.. I wish they brought back the "Player's Choice" titles. I just don't want to have to pay $40 for a freaking 3DS launch title years later (hi ocarina of time HD), so I will end up buying less Nintendo software.
Yeah, the mulitplatform NNID sounds good but from what it seemed from the presentation, that might only happen next gen.
It's weird how Nintendo is doing some interesting ideas with downloadable games but their system has weird flaws that ruin the whole thing.
Quote from: Pit0010 on December 20, 2013, 05:28:27 PMYes I think the soundtrack is very well done as well :P
slightly aspects from SMG don't you think?
Hahahaha! That's an understatement! The same warping sounds and many others that are used in this game's soundtrack are straight from the SMG series. As much as I love the Galaxy music, I get sick and tired of Nintendo pulling out pieces and just shoving them into yet another game. If they're gonna do that, make them a DAMN good remix or something vaguely interesting! For example,
THIS! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0aIHWhkd40&list=PLz5gUls4mkX_A1TnwyJKqRY2yQVKfMmYF) The Mario music redone for this game is INSANE!! I haven't played this game at all and I don't think I would, but this music just makes me drool... Nintendo should follow in the SEGA music team's footsteps and take it up a step! :D
Actually Super Mario 3D World featured almost no music carryovers from other games, and there were no direct ports (unlike New Super Mario Bros. 2 and New Super Mario Bros. U, which feature basically the exact same soundtrack as New Super Mario Bros. Wii).
Be that as it may, the soundtrack for Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 was much better.
Agreed. I thought the music for SM3DW was perhaps a bit too complex? I kinda cringed when I heard the Hands-Off Hall music (traditional Japanese music)... That in a Mario game? What, is he going to wear a kimono now, too? I find it very hard to actually imagine where a lot of these tunes would actually fit it. I also find it difficult to imagine playing a game with that kind of music playing in the background, too... I did like Bowser's theme, though. That made me laugh. ;)
Hahaha! As you know, I'm not a fan of the Galaxy series at all, but I do LOVE the music from the games. At least I have something positive to say about them. :)

They all fit the game very well. Hands Off Hall is a hidden level that's set up like a traditional Japanese home, it's very very cool.

Although not liking the Galaxy series makes me wonder if you're beyond all hope tbh
Oh, okay then. I take it back. In my mind they just don't serve as a good representation of what they ARE trying to represent.
Hahahaha! Games don't receive praise from me if they have shitty controls that I can't use properly. :P

I thought that was clever! the Hands-Otte...I MEAN Hands-off Hall music~ Imagine...something else on top of that...it would feel slightly wrong if u know what I mean? Coz the stage was based off by an japanese enivornment...why not put a japanese music sense behind it?
The music usually has to be based of the environment....just like the same concept of the art style has to fit the overall gameplay and characteristics.
argh...I mumble jumble Joey xD
Hahahaha! I had to think there too when I went to type it. XD
Well, I take it back then! I haven't played the game and therefore can't dictate. I did like the music for the game, though. Some of it sounds a bit weird without a face to go with it. ;D
haha xD >:] Ish means U MUST BUY WII U! or come to my house XDDDDD
I obtained the Super Mario 3D World OST, so if anyone wants it just PM me.
The quality isn't that great but it will do.
I have some news that might give you hope, Slow. :P
So, I went to the Melbourne EB Games a few times last week and they had the demo of Super Mario 3D World there, so I had a shot at playing it and all of the demo levels. MY GOD THAT GAME IS BEAUTIFUL!! The levels were so well-crafted and there was plenty of puzzle-solving to be done to get those Green Stars. I really loved it, actually! The Japanese-style level was playable, too, and that was HEAPS of fun! The game has raised my love for Mario to a whole new level! However, unless I see that game shrink for a smaller screen and go handheld, I still refuse to get it. :P
And, me being me, I was very critical of the controls. Funnily enough, they were MUCH better than the super-shitty Wii ones for the Galaxy series. Maybe if I had a Classic controller for the Wii, I might be more inclined to play those games... XD
Oh, I also beat Super Mario 64 DS and got all of the stars! I've never played that game before, so I thought I'd better do it so my friend Torben would stop calling me a false Mario fan. WELL, THE CONTROLS FOR THAT GAME WERE CRAP-ASS!! I stuck by it though and beat everything. I guess I have a lot more tolerance for something on a handheld than on a TV. :P
It's been my experience that only very rarely will controls for a Mario game, or any other Nintendo produced game for that matter, to be anything less than superb. Compensating for degradation of the controllers over time, of course, I find most older games hold up very well against modern one these days.

^This.
Especially with the Galaxy games. I don't mean to sound rude, but how dumb do you have to be to not understand the controls? The Wii Remote + Nunchuk combo works exactly the same as any of the other controllers. That series is one of the most fluid, easy to play, and downright fun I've ever had the pleasure to play.
Yeah, I didn't have any issues with Galaxy either. Are you sure the remote was pointed the right way?
And I do mean to sound rude, but only a dingus has issues with controls in a main series Mario platformer.
Are you a dingus fingerz? Are you? Don't be a dingus. Becuas ethen I'd have to call you "dingus fingus" and then you'll look like a straight up goof bucket.
I agree! I don't usually have a problem with most games! I don't think it's the actually GAMES themselves, it's the controllers that annoy the heck outta me. I hate the Wii nunchuck with a vengeance because it doesn't respond in the way that I want it to! It's bloody hard to keep my thumb on top of that sucker and it's precision is appalling. Great for Brawl and not for much else. XD
The mechanics in Super Mario 64 DS annoyed me a little, like the fact that the turning circle for a character was insanely huge and that if you held down the run button for too long, you'd get a boost which I wasn't prepared for and fly off the map... I did like the lack of momentum in terms of coming to a stop after jumping. I'd be able to stop on a 5 cent piece and not worry about flying off an edge. :P
@Slow: IT'S NOT EASY!! If it were, I wouldn't be hating these games because I can't play them properly! I can play Mario on any other console and not have trouble except for the Wii. I also think he was way too many moves... I lose track on which is which and how to use it! XDD
I've never heard someone complain about Mario having too many moves or power-ups. Are you sure you're a Mario fan?
XDDDDD
I get confused, that's all! The power-ups I'm fine with, I just think all these jump-related moves mess with my brain... Long-jump and somersaults confuse me... XD
OH! I just realised something that may have been potentially screwing me up... I've been using the Wii remote in my left hand because I'm left-handed. And it just occurred to me that the controls are set up for right-handed people like if you were playing it on a handheld... Maybe I should go and play the game again. XDDD
That's a real dingus thing to do fingus.
Oh! Now look at what you me do.
God, Maestro, not on the carpet.
Fingus should now better than to get me angry and start throwing my dinguses out there are willy-nilly.
I don't like the Spring Suit very much in Galaxy, but the other power ups are fun
Oh yeah Spring Mario is a bitch to control no matter how clever the design looks. I'll give you that
Yeah, figured it out! I had the remote in the wrong hand and it was stuffing me up... XDDDDDD
DON'T GET ME STARTED ON SPRING MARIO. I was lucky that my bro was helping me with that damned level, otherwise I would've never beaten it. >:(

That reminds me though I should keep playing SMG

I started hero's mode on Link between worlds...it's soo hard...knowing that you are gonna be killed instantly after 2 hits...=_=
Have you tried not getting hit twice?
Well I can't let my wisdom go to waste, now can I?
Why yes I've tried! =_=
But I'm so pathetic xDDD
Hahaha! It's great! The actual game is FAR too easy to beat without dying. The Master Quest for Ocarina of Time was quite hard at first 'cause you'd be killed by literally anything in a shot or two. Still, I'm glad they're doing this with newer games. Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D on Mirror Mode is BEASTLY!! I just beat Thugly on that mode and I really need a break now... XD

haha exactly :D That's why I preordered the WiiU version (y) XD

Oh. My. Fucking. God.
Just looking at those Retro Courses for Mario Kart 8 makes me want that game. But that means I need to buy a Wii U... I think I'll buy the game and put it away for later years. :P
God forbid you buy a console to play a game you want. ::)
Dun dun dunnnn

Don't worry fingerz I'll refrain from buying a Wii U for you :P
I won't, just tell me where to send it.
Hahaha! I'm not even joking. I'm THAT close to walking out the door and picking up a Wii U just to play that game. IT'S EYE CANDY, I TELL YOU!! XD
They're so damn expensive, though. I'm not forking out $350 for the just the white one with no extras included. So, I'll buy the game and play the waiting game with Nintendo. :P
It's worth it. Be sure to pick up Super Mario 3D World as well.
I also recommend The Wonderful 101.
Yeah, I really enjoyed playing the demo of Super Mario 3D World. The puzzle side of things really made it interesting... And yes, I remember seeing the demo of The Wonderful 101 at the E3 exhibit last year or the year before and it looked really good. :D
Does anyone think New Super Mario Bros. U is worth it? I'll probably get it anyway. XD
But yeah, I'm not buying that console 'til it drops in price. I wouldn't hate it so much if it didn't cost about 5 weeks of pay...
I doubt it'll drop in price anytime soon. Isn't it bundled with some games now anyway?
Not here. In Australia they like to sell you something at the highest price possible with the least amount of extra content available. I'd be lucky to get a cleaning cloth with it if I asked for something extra. :P
bro...get the deluxe if yah buying it...it's much more worth it...and plus we get like 2-3 games added on for free!! D:

The EB Games stores down here in Melbourne are super-stingy when it comes to deals, I tell ya. >:(

live OST by people from T-Square and similar bands!! (name of alto sax 2 is the biggest troll I've ever seen)
At some point I WILL arrange
I sincerely cannot wait to hear the rest of the themes. Moo Moo Meadows is sooo much improved! I love Dolphin Shoals too btw :J
I really wish we can get a soundtrack eventually, like with 3D World.
As for the Direct in general, it was original and stuff, but at some points it was a little too cheesy.

They changed Moo Moo? It's still the same theme right, just fixed up a bit? Not completely different? D:
It's the same as the one from MKWii but with live instruments and some little tweaks. Still, sounds great. I always liked that theme a lot, and now it's even better!

So happy about the Mario Kart 8 promotion. I'm gonna get a free copy of Pikmin 3 and finally try out this series :)
Start from Pikmin 1.
I'd also really recommend you to play Pikmin 2 too if you like it, because it's a lot better than Pikmin 3. The worst part of it is that they sacrificed content to include pretty graphics, and left the game very empty compared to Pikmin 2.
But start from Pikmin 1.
Nah I'd rather get the free one than hunt down an out of print game I have to pay for. If I like it enough I'll play the others.
Nononono.

Pikmin 2's intro explains perfectly what happened in Pikmin 1 without having to play it. I think it just depends whether you want to play one game or two.
The story is ancillary to what the games are.
Pikmin 1 will teach you far more about how the games work than the sequel ever will.

I never would have had the motivation to finish Pikmin 1 if it weren't for me seeing the masterpiece that is Pikmin 2.
Maybe this should be moved to the "Which Pikmin game should I play first?" thread.
Pikmin had that great feeling of being alone in the world. Making discoveries and learning things without someone else's guidance was part of what made it great. Slow, you shouldn't skip it because of the difficulty curve. Blue's experiences are unique to him lol.
Blue's just a big ol' baby.

This is a nicer way of putting it then I expected. That's pretty accurate though, I will admit.
Unless I happen to see Pikmin or Pikmin 2 in a store before then, I'm playing Pikmin 3 first. Thanks for the tips though :)
Fine I'll track down Pikmin 1 first
Oh and Blue I'm not disregarding you; you have a legitimate suggestion, it's just that if Pikmin 1 is that much worse than Pikmin 2, I'd rather play it first so I can appreciate Pikmin 2 more. I promise no matter how much I hate Pikmin 1 I'll still play Pikmin 2.

I think that by the end of 2014 Wii U sales will probably be closer to Sony and Microsoft than they are now. Yes/no?
If I'm buying one, yes. :P
Probably not simply for the fact that Nintendo has a far smaller target audience. The casual fad audience they captured with the Wii has moved on, so now they have the remaining casual + Nintendo core.
It's not bad by any means; they just don't really compete in the same way that PS4 and Xbone compete with each other.

HEY EVERYONE WITH A 3DS. THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT.
From December 25 to January 4, all of Level-5 IA's titles on the eShop are discounted, which includes all of the Guild titles down from $7.99 to $2.99.
Why do I make such a big deal about this? Because two of the Guild titles are among my favorite period on the 3DS: Crimson Shroud, a Dungeons & Dragons style JRPG with a neat plot, and Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale, an amazing bit of nostalgic slice of life adventure in the style of a Studio Ghibli film. The Starship Damrey, a bite sized sci-fI adventure, is also really cool. It's awesome that you can get two for less than one is normally, so I implore you to take advantage of the opportunity! :J
Cool, I did want to give The Starship Damrey a try, but I wasn't going to drop $8 on it. Thanks for the heads up, Slow!
Starship Damrey is worth a try, but definitely get it at the discount. It's not worth the 8 bucks honestly.
Looks like mega man games are also on sale. II, III, and IV for the GB are only $1.49. Ikachan is only $1.99, Cave Story fans!

Crimson Shroud (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
The Starship Damrey (mildly recommended)
Weapon Shop de Omasse
Liberation Maiden
Aero Porter
Bugs vs Tanks
In addition, for anyone who wants to jump on the Ace Attorney train, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies is on sale for $22.49 until January 2.
Liberation Maiden is short but the graphix and the 3D usage are really cool and worth three bucks
I actually just watched the trailer and it looks really cool
These games are all pretty short though. The longest I've played is Crimson Shroud and that was 8 hours and then new game plus I think.
Do yourself a favor and get Attack of the Friday Monsters though, it's so good.
Okay so I left the holiday season with $25 in Nintendo eShop credit. I spent it on:
Pokemon Trading Card Game (Game Boy Color)
Liberation Maiden
Shovel Knight
I'm very iffy about Shovel Knight but it's supposed to be one of the best games of the year. When I get around to playing it I guess I"ll find out :o
yes I know I probably could have used some of this on my Wii U
but who's got the motivation
edit: now that I think of it though, since I haven't actually bought Shovel Knight yet--what's more worth it, Shovel Knight or the Mario Kart 8 DLC?
Well neither are going anywhere, though I've heard that Shovel Knight was best suited for the Wii U.
fuck yea pokemon tcg
I don't even really know if that game was actually good (since I played it when I was like 8 years old and everything was ""good""), it just has nostalgia all over it.
I just realized I have $10.00 in vouchers I haven't used.
Any recommendations besides the Guild games?
edit: just got FE for the Wii U VC.
I'll probably get Guild title with the leftovers.
HarmoKnight is expensive but it's good. There are a few other gems like Pokemon Battle Trozei too.

Ahaha yeah I'm feeling that right now, everything from the 8-bit music to the "only Gen I existed at this point" mentality is really lovely and nostalgic.
Xeoracer or whatever looks pretty cool
So yesterday I had an interesting little incident with my 3DS.
Apparently I dropped it at some point (don't really remember doing this), and at some point during the day it started crashing 5-10 seconds after being booted up. I'd get a black screen telling me that an error had occurred, and I needed to hold down the power button to reset the console and contact Nintendo's support network. Welp, after ten or so tries of starting it up and resetting it, I couldn't get my 3DS to stay on for more than 10 seconds or so.
So I dug around a little bit online and I found other people who had similar issues, and the problem is apparently caused by my Wi-Fi card popping out inside of the system. I tried turning off the wireless after starting up my 3DS, and, sure enough, it was able to stay on for as long as I needed it to.
I followed the instructions in the guide and gave my 3DS surgery (which involved getting the smallest screwdriver you've ever seen to undo Nintendo's super well-made hardware) and just popped the Wi-Fi card out and back into place. This solved the problem.
Pretty easy fix, actually. I was just worried that my console was done for. Anybody else ever have a problem like this?
With my gameboy where the flextape for the video input had popped out of place but that was an easy fix with a jewellers' screwdriver. Similar, but not quite :P
The last time I took apart Nintendo hardware you needed a tri-wing screwdriver to get very far, did they stop using those?
you need both philips and tri but you underestimate the power of a jewellers' driver
I'm late to the party but
Am I the only one who's upset we're not getting the regular New 3DS in America? I don't like the 3DS XL and have always preferred the smaller model. Plus you can customize the smaller model. I'm pretty bummed out about this. Was considering buying it when it came out, but I guess I'll have to wait and see if NoA stops being dumb as shit one of these days. Honestly, releasing it in Europe + Japan and not NA because "it's not gonna sell" is pretty stupid.
I just don't feel like the extra $80-100 it would end up costing me is worth it unless they come out with a substantial amount more exclusive games for it. I'm just going to treat this like a DSi and ignore it until the next actual new portable comes out.
I have a question for those of you that have upgraded to the New 3DS and transferred your data from a previous system.
I just bought a New 3DS today and tried to transfer my data, but my puzzles in StreetPass didn't transfer over. All the Miis in my Plaza did and so did my progress in Find Mii 2, but I only have the original seven puzzles completed and I can't take pieces from anyone else. I've tried updating the plaza to see if I was missing anything, but that didn't seem to fix any problems. Does anyone know how to fix this?
That's kind of weird. Either everything should show up, or nothing at all. :P
I have never heard of that happening yet.
Streetpass data is stored on the SD card. It should transfer if you copied that over.

You need to put the old SD card data on a new SD card, or if you're already using a micro SD card, just insert it into the new system.
Man, they should really go back to this kind of advertising, Nintendo's 1990-2005 TV ads were just epic.
Also, yay, DKC. Hopefully this means Nintendo is finally starting to acknowledge Rare's DK legacy. Just Dixie Kong in TF is not enough :p

Reviving and renaming this topic to a general Nintendo discussion thread, since I believe we don't have one.
So, reading Nintendo news, I came across this site (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/150508/03.html), which has details about how Nintendo has done in the last fiscal year and some plans for the future, including their partnership with Dena or how they will test the waters with mobile apps before going all out with the NX.
Definitely an interesting read, specially now with the drought of news because of the E3 just a little more than a month away.
Also, Rhythm Heaven The Best Plus, y u no announced here.
Most interesting thing imo is the fact that they claim to be really, actually trying to make a modern online infrastructure and user account system.
I won't be holding my breath but it would be great to see them actuall pull online off for once.
Indeed, Nintendo Network and Miiverse were a huge improvements over the Wii and DS, but there's still a long way to go. I really wish they upgraded everything to a Steam-like community, with achievements and a much more robust online experience overall.
Hopefully the "play across more platforms easily" part also means you don't have to buy twice a game for the Wii U if you have it for the 3DS or viceversa. A universal Virtual Console would be really sweet, heck, we get GBA games on the Wii U instead of the 3DS, what difference would it make making them available on both?
Quote from: DonValentino on May 09, 2015, 04:05:40 AMA universal Virtual Console would be really sweet, heck, we get GBA games on the Wii U instead of the 3DS, what difference would it make making them available on both?
I think it's' quite a bit harder to port them then it seems. All the ambassador programs operate like DS games without a sleep function. Shutting the system just turns the screen off instead of putting it in some sort of standby. And you can't access the home menu without closing the game entirely, similar to how DS games play. Trust me, I have them.
There are so many examples of emulators on various platforms with all sorts of that kind of functionality. It's not a matter of it being beyond the capabilities of the system, just how much time/money they're willing to spend developing what is probably seen as a near zero-effort source of income.
So Splatoon is pretty fun, gamepad control is a little wonky, but I think you should be able to use a pro controller instead. Definitely going to pre-order it.

I have them too, but why should it be hard? We can perfectly have GB games, and my guess is that the only reason they didn't implement a proper emulator for GBA games is because they were already planning GBA games for the Wii U, so they didn't even bother. Besides, play Wario Land 4 on the Wii U, play it on the 3DS, the control setup is exactly the same, there's no hardware limitation to do it, just

Well yeah, I know Nintendo ain't no charity, but for how long are they gonna make us pay for the same Super Mario Bros. over and over just in different consoles? It's kinda frustrating... Why not something like the the transfer system between Wii VC and Wii U VC? Say, they finally do unified accounts, and if you have Super Mario Bros. on the Wii for example, they offer you to buy it for a special prize on Wii U, 3DS, NX... If you take the Wii to Wii U VC transfer as reference, it isn't too far-fetched when you think about it.
NX could be region-free. (http://nintendoeverything.com/nintendo-thinking-about-what-steps-need-to-be-taken-to-make-nx-region-free/) Welcome to the 21st century, Ninty. This is so depressing...
This is a sad day for gamers everywhere, for sure.
It is truly an understatement to say that Satoru Iwata changed the face of Nintendo. He changed the entire world of gaming.
The man has had a hand in some of the most successful and beloved games of all time. Games like Earthbound, Kirby, Pokemon, Super Smash Bros have and will be cherished by gamers for years to come. When Iwata stepped up to be CEO of Nintendo, things changed even more for Nintendo. Because of the innovations of the Nintendo DS and the Wii, millions of people who had never played games before could now experience the magic that Nintendo has strived to deliver since the days of the NES. While segments like Iwata Asks, and the now ever-present Nintendo Directs brought the company and its developers closer to Nintendo's fans than ever before. Despite the shortcomings of the Wii U, Iwata still believed enough in it and the company that he cut half his pay in order to provide more resources in developing more great experiences for now and the future.
In an industry dominated by publishers generally more inclined to value money over experience, Iwata still ran his company with the belief that a game company should provide players with fun and memorable experiences. For this, he will be dearly missed by many gamers around the world. Even though I may be some guy posting this in a random corner of the Internet, I know that my words of appreciation, as well as many other gamers, will be sent directly to you in the afterlife.
Rest in peace Iwata. You will be missed.

These are screenshots from the end credits of the Hamtaro games - the very same series I have been obsessively arranging for a few weeks now. Nobody knows these games, and even fewer know of Iwata's (and Miyamoto's, who's also credited) role in their creation. But this is why those games were good - great - and why they are some of my favorite games that I own.

I want to do this but I don't have the space on my SD card ;_;
Back up some save data and delete the game??
Wait explain to me what any of that means I did not follow that or know what any of the involved things are
So like emulators, region free, and homebrew games and apps.
That's pretty much it. Iirc there will be a save extractor for games that don't allow it to be released soon by the same guy who is doing this exploit!!! So save hacking will be possible too maybe!

Nintendo filed a patent for a new type of console.
http://www.gamnesia.com/news/nintendo-filed-a-patent-for-a-home-gaming-console-that-doesnt-use-discs
It's actually pretty substantial. At first glance, the part about the "no optical drive" sticks out, but, upon further examination, it appears that you may be able to save games to SD cards and play them on other systems that way.
Either way, it's hard to make sense out of.

Tatsumi Kimishima named president of Nintendo (http://www.destructoid.com/tatsumi-kimishima-named-president-of-nintendo-310672.phtml)
And Shigeru Miyamoto is now, officially, Nintendo's "Creative Fellow (http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/09/14/nintendo-assigns-new-roles-for-miyamoto-takeda)." Makes sense, I guess?
I'm just concerned that, because he's not head of a department anymore, Nintendo has the ability to ignore what he says. I mean, that's the absolute worst-case scenario, but I'm curious to see how much his input is actually worth now. Takeda's in the same position as well.
From what I understand about it, they're more or less joint second-in-command under Kimishima, who's primarily there to handle the actual business stuff. They're more or less the ones actually running the game production stuff now.
Well Star Fox Zero (Wii U's only major holiday game for the year) got delayed to 2016, adding to yet another of Miyamoto's many dumb mistakes. Now there's nothing major coming out this holiday for the Wii U, which is incredibly frustrating since first they made the dumb choice to delay Zelda earlier this year, and now Star Fox to a period where the series is guaranteed to stay dead when it could have finally earned a chance to shine. Hope you like your Mario Party clone, and Mario Tennis HD!
Stupid things like this is why Miyamoto needs to retire right now, and let someone better take his place. From Paper Mario being butchered, NSMB being created, to F-Zero getting abandoned in favor of stupid Mario Kart, I'm surprised that it seems I'm the only one who thinks he has lost his ability of greatness as he got older...
Honestly While Super Mario Maker is great it should have been loser to the holidays for better sales. NOA did a good thing making Yoshi's wooly world a fall release, but there's nothing for November. Xenoblade is too niche to sell well in December and Devil's Third is trash so I really worry about the Wii U. Don't even get me started on Japan where the only holiday games are Amiibo Party and Mario tennis... The ONLY way Wii U could possibly sell well in November is if they made Xenoblade a Nov 21 release in the U.S. For the best sales, but even then it would be too niche.
At the very least, the 3DS has a good lineup... Argh, they go from making me very happy to very frustrated sometimes...

I wouldn't say that. Miyamoto himself has claimed that it's better to delay a game and use the time to make it better and bug-free, than rush it to release and have it be a piece of crap (like so many other game companies are doing nowadays).
^Yeah, I'd prefer waiting if it means the game will be better off. Does kind of leave Nintendo dry this holiday season, with the exception of the remaining amiibo which aren't games : /

I adore Miyamoto and I don't think you're thinking things through. You sound like any 12 year old complaining about Nintendo. you're just an enormous nintendo fanboy. Nintendo doesn't have any games coming out this winter and that's just how it is.
Yep, Starfox was going to be their big game :/
What I don't understand is why they make the lame excuse "oh we're making it better" instead of just saying we couldn't get it done in time cuz we're bad
But who would seriously ever say that.

While I hate using the word "Fanboy" (I think it's rude and not necessary) I agree with Nocturne. There's no big holiday games for Wii U now and that's BAD, all because of two stupid delays, one without a reason until E3 (Zelda, and even then they wouldn't show us footage so we know how the game is going) and the other for a stupid reason made by a person who lost his skill over the years. (Star Fox because it seems they want to focus on stupid gamepad gimmicks instead of adding things that would help like a longer story, more content, more replay value, pro controller support and online multiplayer). If it was well planned like the DKCTF delay where Mario 3D world took its place, I wouldn't be as angry but right now there's literally NO GOOD GAMES COMING IN NOVEMBER/DECEMBER FOR WII U. It's frustrating and the Wii U won't sell well because of it...
Such anger for Miyamoto, and I'm failing to see how he's "lost his touch." He'd have only done so if he starts making bad games. No, not game "I didn't like", but outright, honestly bad games. Not to mention that I have no doubts this new Star Fox is going to be the most insanely awesome Nintendo game ever made, being co-developed by Platinum Games, and I've never been a big fan of the Star Fox series. While I agree that Nintendo needs to step up the game development part of their business, I'm not going to right off one man for actually caring to not put out garbage.
You also have to realize that they're probably focusing a lot of their resources to this NX thing they keep teasing us with, whatever it may be.
I guess what I'm confused about is why you're blaming Miyamoto for Star Fox being delayed and for Nintendo not releasing any big games this winter. And why you seem to hate who many consider the single greatest game developer of all time.
I don't care much about Star Fox either way, but there are a few games for Wii U I'll probably get anyway this winter--notably Splatoon and Super Mario Maker. I can't afford to buy every single big name Wii U game that comes out when it comes out, but I guess you can?

he actually can because he gets free copies of games and whatnot. I actually don't have my Wii U anymore, so it pretty much doesn't matter to me, but that doesn't mean nintendo isn't falling behind schedule.
Quote from: NocturneOfShadow on September 18, 2015, 03:14:15 PMhe actually can because he gets free copies of games and whatnot. I actually don't have my Wii U anymore, so it pretty much doesn't matter to me, but that doesn't mean nintendo isn't falling behind schedule.
Actually I currently don't get review copies from NOA just yet, so I do currently have to buy every game released from them that I'm interested in. Also even if I did it wouldn't impact how critical I was of Nintendo, as I would give my honest thoughts either way, but I still stand by my opinions on the fact that this does hurt Nintendo's Holiday season for Wii U quite a bit. The 3DS is fine. (Well, not the NEW 3DS but that's for another time)
Miyamoto I just don't trust due to the fact that his ideals are incredibly outdated and hurt his newer projects for the worse, like how Paper Mario Sticker Star was made to be incredibly basic for a casual appeal, how he can't seem to think up any ideas of a new F-Zero, how Dinosaur Planet was made into Starfox (Indirectly starting its temporary downfall), the rehashing of NSMB, it goes on and on. I'm not saying he never ever was good (I love his games that he helped out with up until around 2002 or so), it's just that he lost his luster when other nintendo devs can do just as good if not better than him, like Aonuma for instance. I blame Miyamoto for the delay as he was the one who essentially announced it, so it's clear that he had to at least approve of it. I just don't want this to be delayed for something stupid like a casual experience or a Gamepad heavy game filled with gimmicks. I don't want a rushed game either but they needed a backup plan if they were to delay it, which they don't. That's what worries me...
Platinum, in the two games they made for Wii U, actually used the Gamepad brilliantly, so I'm sure Star Fox won't fall into the category of "gimmicky".

Quote from: Altissimo on September 18, 2015, 08:05:00 PMWhy do they need to get the Christmas market? Why is it bad if they don't?
Because people feel entitled to have companies release all the current planned games at Christmas ::)
Sonic Boom and Sonic 06 were both Christmas releases
Not sure what release date has to do with their quality. *shudder*
Let me rephrase: They were rushed for Christmas.
That's not the only problem those games had (at least for Sonic 06...).
The reason most people are upset is because the Wii U isn't going to have many good games released towards the end of the year (only other game I can think of that most people care about is Xenoblade Chronicles X); if there were more games being released at the same time, people probably wouldn't be upset, but Star Fox Zero was one of the few games that was being released.
i think you're missing my point. sonic 06 and sonic boom sucked as bad as they did partly because they were rushed out the door for christmas.
I have this mixed sense of satisfaction and irritation because I have collected all of the blue puzzle pieces in streetpass but now I have nothing to use my coins on and also am still missing like 8 of the pink ones
sonic 06 is a classic tho

The light tears were boring as shit to collect, but... is it me, or does it really not look like an HD update at all?
It's not just you; I thought the same thing. Though apparently GameXplain did a side-by-side screenshot comparison and saw that the textures have been totally redone and not just HD'd, so maybe it'll look better in person?
Hopefully, because this game really should look stunningly beautiful.
Quote from: Nebbles on January 13, 2016, 03:18:59 PMThe light tears were boring as shit to collect, but... is it me, or does it really not look like an HD update at all?
TP didn't really look that bad to begin with, so an HD update won't be as noticeable as Wind Waker (I believe they even said they considered TP back in the early days of the Wii U for the HD remake but they found Wind Waker to be the better upgrade) I did go to a friend's home the other day and played the Wii version on his HDTV and I could easily notice some fuzziness and whatnot. The Wii U screenshots on the other hand seem crisp and sharp, which is nice.
So really TPHD is less of a visual overhaul and more of a game "smoothing" that makes everything nice on the eyes. Skyward Sword HD would likely be the same way if that ever happened. I'm actually excited to see the Twilight Realm in HD, since having it be crystal clear would be a very pretty sight indeed.
pretty sure the game was supposed to be slightly blurred in the twilight areas, it's how they made it harder to see
zelda TP HD: Now featuring even more twilight, everything is harder to see, no more auto target, good luck
alternatively: Zelda TP HD: zelda toilet paper in high definition

I mean, to be fair, that's the only point of HD remakes, especially for games that are ten or fifteen years old. Like they're marketing it to people who weren't around (or old enough) when it came out the first time and people who liked the original so much they'd pay money to have an upgraded version. they should probably fire the guy responsible for making names like "New Nintendo 3DS XL" and "New Super Luigi Bros. U" and "Super Smash Bros. For Wii U and 3DS" to see if that helps
It's just called New Super Luigi U, no bros. involved.
To be fair, strange titles are one of my favorite things about Nintendo as a company. (Suddenly having numbered Mario Kart games is one of my favorites)

I hope the NX uses Bluetooth connection. That'd be cool
Picked up Fates today, enjoying it so far.
Fates arrived yesterday, but I haven't played it yet...
...but I will soon!
(P.S. Conquest is better)
That's the route I'm going with first, but I did also get Birthright.
I know you guys are biased, so I'll ask what's so good about Fire Emblem? It LOOKS interesting, but I'd like to know what's under the surface.

It's a solid SRPG series, and each game varies in story, difficulty, etc. If you wanna jump in, you can either start with Fates, but Awakening is the best one for beginners since it's rather easy and introduces you to the mechanics in a good way. Fates is more difficult, and there's a bunch of the older games as well, but those are more difficult. Sacred Stones is the easiest out of the older games.

...Awakening's pretty overrated, actually. Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance, and Radiant Dawn are much better in my opinion. Sacred Stones is a good starting point to the series.
Also, how is Fates more difficult when you have the automatic win button Phoenix mode?
Sooo... Either Awakening or Sacred Stone, eh? Thanks! I'll look into it!

You don't need to choose Phoenix mode, it's optional.
And I love Sacred Stones much more than Awakening, but I'm just offering it as the best introduction into the series. My personal favorite games are either the 7th one, just called Fire Emblem, or Path of Radiance.

Uhhh, Star Fox Zero + Guard, new Kirby game, Monster Hunter Generations, stuff on Federation Force, Bravely Second, Splatoon updates, Mario Maker upates, uh... other stuff I don't care about.
It was 70% handheld stuff, 10% Star Fox, 15% stuff we already know about.
It's Kirby with mechs. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

I ENJOY THE KIRBY SERIES OF ELECTRONIC GAMES
...I know what I'm watching tomorrow!
Starting tomorrow, a bunch of Wii U and 3DS games are becoming Nintendo Selects, available for $20. These include Ocarina of Time 3D, Super Mario 3D World, and Pikmin 3, among others: https://www.nintendo.com/nintendo-selects
>:( I have all the games I want from that set already. That's not right...
So Nintendo is finally getting around to trademarking the Mario coin sound. (http://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-is-attempting-to-trademark-the-mario-coin-sound-350675.phtml)
I wonder what's finally prompting them to do that. Have they ever tried to do this before?
Occasionally in bball games, if a free throw is made, they'll play that sound. Maybe that?

Yooooooo XBC on the VC
Awesome! More people need to play Xenoblade.
My Nintendo rewards still suck
yippee
People on Zelda Universe won't stop predicting Nintendo's demise. Yay...
(I wonder why a Japanese company is trying to appeal to Japanese audiences...)

Eurgh... I still regret losing 10 hours of my life to that game. Never again will I ask my grandmother to get me a video game based on inflated metascores for Christmas ever again. Maybe it gets more challenging and engaging down the line, but for me outside of filling that collectopedia I didn't enjoy it much at all. Felt too linear and the battle system was too automatic for me,
IMO. (Something I needed to emphasize because I got banned from one site for daring to have a differing opinion, but I digress. I do plan to get Xenoblade X one day to see if it's decent though)
...So since this topic doesn't mention the investor news, I guess I've give my thoughts on that briefly.
NX in 2017? Fine with me, make the launch lineup great, just as long as you don't focus on American AAA developers like with the Wii U launch. Zelda in 2017 though? Sorry, but I'm going to be firm and say that's the shittiest idea ever. The stupid delay to 2016 was already dumb, but
barely understandable with Triforce Heroes coming in 2015's holiday along with 2016 being the 30th anniversary and a great time to release it and give the game minor polishing touches.
But 2017? There's NO reason the game should be delayed that long, not the Wii U version at least. It's clear as day they are just doing this to milk NX sales despite sacrificing the 30th anniversary and the holiday season to do so. The fact that there isn't a bigger outrage over this yet folks are flipping out over minor censorship of panties in Tokyo Mirage totally baffles me. What's with priorities nowadays?
In slightly more positive news, I am hopeful for the 3DS holiday lineup this year. Great RPGs coming our way. Just wish they'd make a new 3DS exclusive title that shows the true power of the system. (Unless it's the NX all along or something crazy like that)
Wait, what RPGs are coming to 3DS? I get most of my gaming news from GameXplain, and they're mainly doing Planet Robobot at the moment.
Someone said that the NX would fail just like the Saturn did because it will be released in Spring. Make of that what you will?
I only realized today that the rectangles on Mario's coins are concave.
Wait, when will the NX be released? ???
The 3DS is definitely my favorite handheld, as it has a TON of great games! But nothing could replace GameCube. :P
March, apparently.
Speaking of the GameCube, I'm going to be basically converting my family's Wii we don't use much into a GameCube soon! (Because getting a controller and a memory card and using them on a Wii we've had for years is cheaper than getting an actual GameCube.) I've decided what games I'm going to get, but you people will have to wait and see...

Dragon
Ball Quest VII/VIII, Shin Megami Tensei IV Final, 7th Dragon, Pokemon Sun/Moon, Kemco eShop JRPGS, and a few more as well. A decent amount of excellent games (Barring Kemco's games as those could be hit or miss, but they sure do port a lot!)

Forgot about Sun and Moon. Pokémon doesn't really come to my mind when someone says "RPG", and I grew up with it. XD
I didn't know about most of those other games.
(Are we ever going to get substantial info on those games...?)

October comes, My Nintendo rewards are still sucktastic, what's new
The entire service is abysmal worldwide. I'm honestly unsure what's going on in Kimishima's head right now considering how NCL turned into a Berlin Wall of sorts just like the Yamauchi era when he took over. At first I was convinced he was a grumpy old businessman (and the E3 announcement confirmed that, at least until it actually happened and blew away everyone) but now I'm unsure. Is he making sure that Codename NX is Nintendo's ultimate weapon and therefore every single detail must be 100% perfected, or is he simply only working as the leader to shut up their boneheaded investors who make stupid requests every quarter? (Though with them essentially OK'ing the idea of Super Mario Run which was an idea investors nagged them for ages they could be preparing to turn into sellouts.)
Thankfully I could care less about the NX as of now, unlike the folks who seem to be losing sleep over it and acting as if they'll die if they don't get info soon. (as evidenced by the immature spamming on Nintendo's social media.) I just hope the launch games are a mix of good first party, indie and Japanese third party developers and that'll satisfy me just fine.
HOLY SHIT SO I JUST STAYED UP TOO LATE TO FINISH KIRBY PLANET ROBOBOT AND WOW SO FUCKING GOOD
I still need to get that game. >:/

I only sold because it's getting restocked in a week. I'll buy one for myself then, and enjoy an impatient man's $200
I'm probably not going to get an NES Classic, to be honest. I'm not interested, and I don't think I can afford one.
According to the local news, best buy and game stop aren't even sold out, it's just amazon
