Slam Shuffle

the piece uses swing 8ths not dotted 8th 16ths.
measure 1-18 - in the left hand, the notes in the first and third beat should have a fifth above them.
needs a key signature.
measure 22 - in the left hand, there's a triplet rhythm pattern on beat 4 that leads into the next measure.
measure 26-28 there's too many rests. delete measure 27.

formatting needs to be changed. take a look at this thread. (http://www.ninsheetm.us/smf/index.php?topic=481.0)

I knew it used swing 8ths, but is there a way to make it like that on Finale Notepad besides just writing it in text?
I also need help with the key signature. I wanted to change it in the middle, but with Finale Notepad I can't.

I think you can change the playback function to Jazz playback, which will swing the eighths. Notepad used to have that, I think.

I don't think it has that anymore :/
I'm on a Mac, I don't know if that makes a difference or not though.

I had the same problem trying to arrange Treasure Town. :/ no swing option.
Title: Re: triforced1's Arrangements
Post by: triforced1 on August 01, 2011, 08:13:18 PM
Damn. Then should I just keep it as dotted 8th 16ths or should I redo it and just put "swing" at the top?
And I can't get the metronome marking to come up. Any suggestions?

Post by: SlowPokemon on August 01, 2011, 08:14:25 PM
Well the second option wont affect the midi. Get someone to put swing at the top in finale (full version) for you.

Ok. Any takers?
And key signature help please.

the key signature(s) might be wrong but here's something.

It sounds good to me. Did you use Allegro? I'm thinking of upgrading.
Title: Re: triforced1's Arrangements
Post by: Shadoninja on August 01, 2011, 10:26:17 PM
I used finale 2011. I wouldn't recommend allegro for nsm arranging. get songwriter or printmusic.

I probably won't get Finale, just because I don't have 600 dollars to spend right now xD
I'll probably get Printmusic. Seems pretty reasonable.

looking at the compare features on the site, songwriter is all you'll need. the only disadvantage is that you can't open any 2011 files.

Added new song. I need a PDF for it, if anyone is willing to make one for me.

You said you use a Mac, correct? Macs are able to save as PDFs.

Just straight from Finale?

Yep, just click print, open up the drop down box in the bottom left corner, then say "Save as PDF".

Just for a quick project, I'm rearranging "To Zanarkand" since the old one has quite a few wrong notes and rhythms.

Hey everyone, I'm re-arranging Gerudo Valley since G-Han did a pretty crappy job with the one. If anyone else is currently, doing it, please let me know.

Olimar and GoronsOrchestrated. (I think.)

Have they submitted them yet though?

As far as I know, no. But you should probably talk to them.

I like GoronsOrchestrated's version better that seeker's. The version that I cleaned up for him, that is.

Deku already did it (99% sure). We were going to put it up when the Fixing the sheets project begins working on TLoZ. Should be the next one, according to the poll. You can dispute that with him though. I haven't taken a look at any of the three.

Just a question on Gerudo Valley:

Several times throughout the sheet, I encounter measures where the right hand notes tell me to hold a key throughout the measure. The left hand notes tell me to tap that same key repeatedly. What do I do then?

Also, I'm a little unsure on the punctuation there. It doesn't always sound quite right, as if the notes are just cut off too early.
Title: Re: triforced1's Arrangements
Post by: triforced1 on January 07, 2012, 02:47:23 PM
I was kinda sceptical about that part... I don't know if I should move the right hand up an octave or move the left hand down.

EDIT: Fixed. Lowered the left hand down an octave.

Alot of this applies to yours.

Quote from: Olimar12345 on November 30, 2011, 09:05:30 AM-The title of this piece is "Gerudo Valley", not "Gerudo Fortress"(as seen in the official soundtrack)
-The 1st measure does not sound right-Too many wrong notes
-I think someone already mentioned that your missing the url, tempo marking, a ["], and "composition" is misspelled.
-Measures 8-11 dont need 8va
-The rhythm at 8 (and throught the piece) is written incorrectly:
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg805.imageshack.us%2Fimg805%2F6429%2F49860720.png&hash=335fcee7c4551fdf314dccd588375753cc068082) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/805/49860720.png/)
-the 32nd note "trill" thing that starts at 12 is unnecessary-Remove it.
-The rhythm that starts at measure 16 is written incorrectly, look:
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg846.imageshack.us%2Fimg846%2F4656%2F55551987.png&hash=27cd551a206cd1356a65fc054e3ffce726b10249) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/846/55551987.png/)
See how your able to see all four beats of the measure this way? much easier to read. Anywhere you have this rhythm you must apply this.
-At times You have multiple 8va's that collide-Fix it.
-Measures 16-23 don't even need an 8va.
-Measures 12, 22, and 23 are wrong-
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg577.imageshack.us%2Fimg577%2F7451%2F80891947.png&hash=f0aa959322ea1217b99a94251f744c3ae8ee1627) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/577/80891947.png/)
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg525.imageshack.us%2Fimg525%2F5185%2F86886169.png&hash=7a21ed8e8059288aa3babfb635186027a2f95454) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/525/86886169.png/)
Compare.
-The whole piece has two double bars in it, and both are in useless places
-Measures 24-29, and 32-43 have incorrect rhythm notation, see my 7th comment.
-I'm not totally sure about your choice of octaves throught the piece. I'd give that a good look through if I were you.
-I'd try to incorporate the bass line into the left hand, say have it play on beats 1 and 3, or 2 and 4. (if possible all 4 beats). Its quite a driving force to have a syncopated rhthm fight a simple bass line like this.
Also, those lowered bass notes are impossible to play.

Title: Re: triforced1's Arrangements

Any measure with the rhythm at 32 is written wrong. Use ties until you can see the start of each beat. Also you have note collision in alot of places.
Title: Re: triforced1's Arrangements
Post by: triforced1 on January 15, 2012, 09:07:24 AM
I thought I had changed the note collision... can you be more specific?

Also, does this look about right for the rhythm at 32?

That is the correct rhythm! See how much easier that is to read? You can break down each beat and see where the attacks are.

As for the collision-the #F on beat 3 of measures 28 and 29/measures 4-7. Compare yours to this (http://www.mediafire.com/?kp4940nfgra842u) version. (the one that I cleaned up for GO.)I like the left hand better this way. Thats just me tho.
