What is this I don't even
Help please?
I'll be arranging this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMFCM0SKbnY) for Orchestra, and since I have no idea how to do percussion or viola, it might be a bit difficult. Also, if you can pick out some instruments that would be delightful.
Can't say I'm familiar with the clef either.
Violas are written in the alto clef (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alto_clef#Alto_clef). (A form of "C" Clef)
It's known as a "C" Clef because it marks middle C. (Right through the middle)
The order of sharps is as following: F5, C5, G5, D5, A4, E5, and B4
The order of flats: B4, E5, A4, D5, G4, C5, and F4
Ohhhh, that makes more sense. Thanks! I still need a solid instrument list though.
Well, any instruments you're unsure about, look 'em up on Wikipedia.
I just looked up the trombone and it said it's usually written in the bass clef though sometimes in alto or tenor.
Just find your instrument on Wikipedia, and look under "Notation".
Give me a sec, and I'll try to put a list of the most common instruments.
It's not the notation, I need the actual instrument list for the song :P
Thanks though!
What do you mean? Do you need to know what instruments are in a certain song?
Yeah, It's the link I posted in my first post.
Oh, yeah. Guess I missed that...
Well, you've got your strings, maybe a synthstrings track will do the trick.
Add a timpani to that and you've got the intro.
There's also a little Tubular Bell up there on the single timpani notes.
Right at the end of the intro you've got a really loud flute or whistle (not quite sure which).
Then possibly a clean electric guitar that strikes that super-loud chord.
And you add brass to those strings.
And of course your cymbals...
That higher drum shortly after would be a timpani playing higher...
Then voices with a really quiet drawbar organ...
Organ plays bass...
Then your snare drum going really fast (8th, 16th, 16th, 8th, 16th, 16th, etc...).
A crazy flute going wild.
Then it carries on with voice, organ, brass, strings, snare, cymbals, timpani, and flute.
Then there's that cute little organ solo..
Then male voices on the off-beat and the snare going..
Then the timpani going up and down and up and down...
Then carries on again with previously listed instruments...
And back to an organ solo.
Well that's all I have time for now, maybe I can finish later.
For anyone else moving forward I've finished at 4:00.
If you have any more questions Triforced, go ahead and ask.
Instrument List (to 4:00)
Strings (Track 49-52)
Timpani (Track 48)
Tubular Bells (Track 15)
Flute (or Whistle) (Track 74 or 79)
Electric Guitar? (30 or 31)
Brass (Track 57-64)
Cymbals (Channel 10)
Voices (Track 53-55)
Drawbar Organ (Track 17)
Snare Drum (Channel 10)
That should keep me busy for a while! Thanks a bundle!
EDIT: Actually, I have one quick question. I have an awful ear for string instruments, so do you think you could pick out which ones there are? I've already got contrabass and violin, but I'm not really sure if there's a cello or viola in there....
The vast majority of orchestral scores have Violin I & II, Viola, Cello and Bass parts. This one is no different. The fun comes in trying to work out which one plays what and the voicings of each chord :P
