Title: Composer #40's Arrangements (Updated 7/10) It's a Miracle Matter!
Post by: Composer #40 on April 19, 2008, 03:26:10 PM
Hello everybody, long time no see. I have been studying music and composition so arranging does not take priority. Today, however, I was looking through my unofficial Kirby 64 soundtrack and found "Miracle Matter." Two hours later and BAM! Here you go.

I haven't been around in over a year so I don't know if most of this list have been done by someone else.

Wow, impressive list of songs you got there. "Awake" sounds great, although I personally don't adore the Circle of the Moon soundtrack that much. Also, the upcoming Final Fantasy-songs are from my favorite FF-games, haha!

There are new songs that need to be rated, especially the ending theme to FF6

I also put copyrights on them G-Han!

No, it's directly from FFVII.
EDIT: KHII version has different lyrics, possibly the only difference.

Yeah, mine has a lot more chords, but i think i left out a part, but its not that big and its toward the beginning, but its also sorta weird cuz im doing it on notepad, so i don't have what you have to work with, such as key/time signature changes in the middle of the song. It only really changes the song when i have the time signature, but i've sorta found ways around it. Im rambling, i'll email it to you when i finish.

OK, im finished, here's the link to mine.

(I might come off rude and a jerk but here me out.)

First, I suggest you upgrade to PrintMusic or higher so you can edit the time signature. Second, (@admins, correct me if I'm wrong) our goal is to make the sheet as close to the original as possible, what you have is something that sounds of a remix, or a version I've never even heard. Third, check for playability and readability, these must be in balance with each other, some mistakes are the program's fault but you can fix some things.*

Lastly, we are a group of friends who can help each other out with our sheets. That's what I did with some of my early sheets.

This is coming from a guy who spent a lot of time working over the sheets you see on the list to reach the site's standards and a general neatness.

* squashed notes may be fixed by selecting all, copy and re-paste it, and it should spread out the notes.
Use layers, the numbers at the bottom-left, two shove two parts onto one staff.

take into consideration, i don't do this for a big hobby, so why pay money when i can just have the free app. Also, that was my first arrangement. ever. never even attempted any other music or anything of my own creation. cut me some slack. I guess i was sorta goin for a remix, kinda.

New Songs including Pokemon!

Battle! Champion
Battle! Team Galactic Admin
Drake's Theme
02
In Winters, There is a Genius

It's obvious that I need some help in the two battle themes because I can't pinpoint the key sig.

In Winters, There is a Genius is basically the song Snowman from SSBB was arranged from.

No more crap in the works section, there will be actual songs that are near completion.
The first song is "Dialga / Palkia Battle at Spear Pillar!" from SSBB. Please comment so I know what to change or if it is just as good as it is.

AS for the key; it seems to go in-between the many versions of the C scale (it's just a theory).

Good arrangements, I give you a smiley face!  :)

On to business; I've just added Bramble Blast from SSBB. Other stuff today are the two songs from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones.

Comments help keep the sheets in plausible condition.

I'm sorry if someone else was making Bramble Blast but this is one of my instantaneous arrangements.  :-[

looked at truth, despair etc, galactic battle admin battle, champion battle... all three are playable and in good condition from what i've seen...

i like seeing people arrange stuff from FE...

anyways, your bramble blast arrangement was also good and accurate... however, bars 16-24 just don't sound quite right on piano (not that the notes are incorrect, it just sounds odd, to me at least...)
also from bars 25-32, the eighth notes on the C don't sound quite right...

but good job on those arrangements!

It's awesome, btw.

P.S.: I am sightly inept at key signatures so I might not get it right the first time around. If you are certain about a key signature that I got wrong, double check your sources and then tell me. This is not intended as an insult to anyone's knowledge because you possibly know more than I do.

To be honest, those were made before the site crashed the first time, meaning my stuff was crap back then. It's the main reason why I want the FF 1&2 section of the site deleted right now so I can do a better one.

Hey Composer, since you know quite a bit of final fantasy music already, did you want to take the entire final fantasy section in "the "fixing the sheets " Project? It would really help and would be greatly appreciated.

I've finally done something productive and it's some of the best music made by Nobuo Uematsu. I'm not done updating all of my songs to the new standard but I'll get right on it as soon as I can prevent myself from playing Fire Emblem and napping. (It's gonna take more time Brassman, sorry :-[) Nice pile of work I got myself into, huh?

How long have you had your Sonic 2 boss battle up?  I added mine a few months ago, but I didnt see it on the site.  if yours was on first then I'll take mine off.

My Sonic 2 boss was there since the 14th. However, my old arrangement was on the site before the site crashed but was crappy anyway. That's why I decided to fix mine up to look and sound better. You need to fix your arrangement up because there are noticeable mistakes around the beginning and the end with the chords. Take yours down if you want but I'm leaving mine.

I'm sure there's a nicer way to write that climbing part in the O2 arrangement.  Those little doublets or whatever the hell you're supposed to call them look messy.

One way is to turn them into dotted eights and sixteenths but that looks confusing. Another would be to change the time signature to 3/4 time but then that turns the bass to triplets in which the current 6/8 time was for.

In regular news, small updates but most of the efforts have been into fixing my sheets. Final Fantasies 4-6 have been updated and some of them have changes. "Kefka" I hopes is better and "Battle with Gilgamesh". If it concerns anybody, the last movement in "Dancing Mad" really needs to be examined by a time sig specialist. Most of it is inconsistent with the current time sig and makes it look terrible. If anyone knows how to fix this please tell me.

I fixed Dancing Mad's last movement. I tried to make it in the correct time signature but Nobuo Uematsu likes to mess with music. (3rd movement ::))

If you're wondering why I put Hiatus on my subject is because I'm going to but my sheets at the mercy of my professors, so everything I made has to be up to a new layout and playability standard. Just what I needed, more homework

Dancing mad what.

*goes to download finale reader*

EDIT: Eh, it's alright.  It would have had to beat the Fantasy Reborn (http://www.squaresound.com/arrangements/file.php?id=306) version for me to really like it though.

Okay, I have returned with seven new songs. :) I also see we have new members and our updaters are as lazy as I am!
What the subject header says is true. Besides the new songs, some stuff, like the Final Fantasy songs, have sat on my thread for more than a year. :'( Well hopefully, I'll do some more Nintendo classics (I know Dragon Quest is by Square Enix) when I get the inspiration to do so. Anyway enjoy DQ and an usually overlooked game.

Well, Tetris Attack, I used to play that all the time, so my opinion.

Water Stage came right back, as far as I remember, it's like perfect. Easily makes me want to go play the game again.

I only faced bowser once or twice, so that one doesn't remind me of much, I do recognize one melody out of there though. :)

The Forest Stage comes right back too :)

Good work!

I finally updated, but only in parts. Right now I am uploading from a school computer that had Finale 2011. I had to use it to make the sheets I just posted. I hope to upload more during the week.

Also can anyone figure out how to have "Commander Yammark" swing in sixteenths so the beat doesn't have to be in cut-time.

I would double the note durations with a tempo of around 200. an easy way to double durations is to select the entire score, go to utilities -> change -> note durations -> 200%

if you want to use 16ths you could try this http://makemusic.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1463/~/swing-16th-notes.

I believe in the Time signature pop-up box there is an option to set a different time signature for display. So you make it in cut time, but have it display as 4/4.

What I'm really looking for is to cut the note durations in half so sheet doesn't take up so many measures for the sake of swing. For some odd reason Finale did not want to swing the eighth notes when I assigned the tempo to the quarter note, no matter what I did. It only worked when I assigned the tempo to the half note. I'm going to have to try your advice tomorrow.

Now on the real subject: I've decided to post my Megaman X6 stuff. It needs some retcon before submission however. Part three is hopefully the some Final Fantasy VIII stuff that need attention.

Okay, I updated again and the new songs posted are why I needed Finale 2011. Have fun with 10/8. Meanwhile, it will take longer than I though to fix a few of the sheets I posted yesterday. "Commander Yammark" will break itself if I try to use the editing tool so sit tight. "Infinity Mijinon" had a repeat error I fixed and "Bilzzard Wolfang" need some staff crossing in the first measure. This is what I know so far. If you find any more mistakes, please tell me.

Ohai. Didn't know you were a composer (hurrr)

Neat piece. Why'd you choose 8/16? I feel 2/4 all the way.
Title: Re: Composer #40's Arrangements (Updated 7/10) It's a Miracle Matter!
Post by: Composer #40 on July 11, 2012, 01:07:39 PM
The 8/16 rhythm in the left hand is dominant while everything else is not. That's why gave that time signature because that is what is on the sheet. The 2/4 you were feeling was kept by the drums in the original, which I can not replicate on the piano, not for lack of trying.
Title: Re: Composer #40's Arrangements (Updated 7/10) It's a Miracle Matter!
Post by: pumpy_heart on July 11, 2012, 05:42:12 PM
I've never heard the original. The notated rhythm in the left hand is common in all duple meter and would just be easier to read in 2/4. 8/16 doesn't divide the beat any differently than 2/4.
