Avanti!
I'm signing up to host!!! I posted my game a while back as a preview, but due to inadequate wifi access at the moment, I will post my game when I get home.
"TWG XXXV: Professor Layton" coimg soon to an NSM near you!
I didn't like the game I just made so I just deleted everything.
Is anybody up for a game like SBURB except more balanced, with possible wolf combinations?
Jub, I liked it! I only had a few Q's I was gonna ask later.
As much as I liked SBURB, I like fresh themes and playing concepts more.
I have an idea for a game, but I think it might require more than twelve players for it to be successful.
Seeing the difficulties we've had filling up even 12 Player games, I'm afraid that any more will be very difficult to fill. However, I may be able to help you balance the game for 12 Players, if you would like.
Ok, I joted down the notes for it back home, I can send you what I have later.
TWG XXXIV: File Island.
In this game the color of a player's role is always representive for his team (in which wolves are red and humans are green and blue).
In-Training Digimon:
Koromon
Tsunomon
Tokomon
Tanemon
Rookie Digimon:
Agumon (Digivolves from Koromon, vigi, cannot vigi during the first night phase since he has digivolved into this role, and cannot vigi during the first night phase of the game.)
Gabumon (Digivolves from Koromon)
Elecmon (Digivolves from Tsunomon)
Penguinmon (Digivolves from Tsunomon)
Patamon (Digivolves from Tokomon)
Biyomon (Digivolves from Tokomon, guardian, if he guards a player, he cannot use his powers during the next phase.

Shellmon (Digivolves from Penguinmon)
Angemon (Digivolves from Patamon, seer)

However, he cannot post in the tread, nor vote, nor PM, nor be able to speak in the chat. The phantoms he'll get do not count towards the number of votes against him. Whenever he gets a 3rd phantom he'll die and always (even if Jijimon is dead) be reborn as an In-Training digimon)
Mamemon (Digivolves from Leomon. Can PM the host in order to be modified)
MetalMamemon (Has a 50% chance of being modified from Mamemon, can target one player each night phase, that player's power cannot be activated untill the next day phase)
Giromon (Has a 50% chance of being modified from Mamemon, whenever he is targeted by a power, that power will fail and that player will lose his power untill he digivolves or dies).
Andromon (Digivolves from Angemon, role seer, instead of recieving the color of the player he seer'd he recieves the role of the player he seer'd).

Digitamamon (Digivolves from Nanimon)

Machinedramon (Digivolves from Digitamamon, wolf vigi, can vigi up to 2 times per night phase)
Jijimon (Does not digivolve, as long as he is alive any digimon that dies (exept for himself) will be reborn as an In-Training digimon (this power cannot be negated). Any player may PM Jijimon if they want to be reborn, together with the digimon the want to be reborn into. If Jijimon recieves such a PM he may forward it to the host after which the player will be reborn).
The game will start with the following players:
Agumon

In-Training digimon have 2 digivolved forms. They have a 50% chance of digivolving in eighter of them (25% when digivolving at the end of the day phase, because then there is a 50% chance of digivolving into Kunemon).
The chance of digivolving into a digimon whose description says: (Digivolves from: ...) is equal to 100%-(the chance of digivolving into any other digimon possible).
You may not make any action that will hurt your current team. If you make an action that might hurt/seems to be hurting your team you should PM me why you do that. If you don't, I'll PM you ASAP to tell you that you have to send me your motivation. If you still don't send me, I'll send you a warning. If you have allready recieved 2 warnings you'll be kicked out of the game. You may nog make an action that hurts your current team just because you're going to another team anyway.
Obviously, this doesn't count for Numemon, Sukamon and Nanimon, because they don't know on which team they are.
I'll try putting my game up, see what happens because why not.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time Mafia!
A couple rule changes:
All roles will be revealed after each nightkill and lynch.
No safeties. You must vote or vote a "no lynch"
Mafia will know each other.
I think that's about it for rule changes.
Roles:
(I need at least these roles, but I can easily make more)
Innocents:
Link (Cop- Checks alignment of a player)
Zelda (Jinx. Messes up or corrupt's another player's role)
Navi- Normal
Saria (Doctor- Can protect someone from the kill at night)
Darunia (Roleblocker- can choose a player to make them not use their role (doesn't work on the godfather)
Ruto (Inspired Innocent- Can take place of the Cop, Doctor, or Roleblocker when they die)
Impa (Will sacrifice herself for Zelda is she was supposed to die)
Nabooru (Tracker- can find out who a player used their powers on. Also, Miller, appears as mafia under cop checks)
Rauru- Normal
Mafia:
Ganondorf- Godfather (sends in the kill, leader)
Twinrova- Cop (Instead of checking alignment only, Mafia Cop will find out the role of the player checked)
Lizalfos- Yakuza (Can kill themself to convert a player to the mafia)
Iron Knuckle- Roleblocker
Frankly Spyro, I would rather see you play a few more games, since I wasn't able to see your skills very conspicuously in the previous game. To add to that, your game is unbalanced, because everyone would just claim their Roles and whomever counterclaims would be a Wolf. Furthermore, although the Zombie idea was a neat concept in the previous game, I would rather we not have any more conversion Roles (in this case, the Yakuza) in future TWGs, because they're unfair to the converted. Sorry again!

Innocents:
Link (Cop- Checks alignment of a player)
Zelda (Odd Numbered Nights- Zelda: Hypnotist, can redirect the role of another player. Even Number Nights- Sheik: Jinx. Messes up or corrupt's another player's role
Navi (Public Speaker- Votes count double)
Saria (Doctor- Can protect someone from the kill at night)
Darunia (Roleblocker- can choose a player to make them not use their role (doesn't work on the godfather)
Ruto (Inspired Innocent- Can take place of the Cop, Doctor, or Roleblocker when they die)

Although I like the idea of your game, I think it is
very human sided. With all the special roles, the humans can easily set up a six player alliance, and with the card-flipping, they'll also know if the player they've lynched was a human. That way, the humans will only need 4 lynchings to find out who two of the original three wolves were, not even calculating the fact that Link can easily find them. At that moment, there are still three humans alive, and the yakuza, who can infect one player leaving the game with two humans and one wolf, and with so many powers, it should be easy to find the infected, not to mention that this is the worst case scenario for the humans.

Does that also mean that you don't like the alignment changes in my game?
I've sort of given up on hosting on NSM...
Davy, I feel as if your game is a little over complicated. I liked your other one more. You know, the one with the 2 worlds.

Yeah, I added the Yakuza to try and balance it out.
Here, let me edit my post and change a couple of things.
EDIT: I changed all of the following:
Navi is now normal
Made Zelda only the Jinx
Added Iron Knuckle, a Mafia Roleblocker
I've only given your game a cursory view, frankly, but the alliance changes in your game are slightly different in that there are particular ways to determine whether an alliance change has been made. The Yakuza and Zombie are different in that anyone (even a completely random Player) could become a Wolf and there would be no way of knowing. Not to mention that the converted Player may not have even wanted to switch sides. At least Players are given the choice in your game.
The only recommendation I have for your game is to have a cardflip of the Role at death of the Players so that Players don't need to guess which Digimons are remaining.
And blueflower999, you just have to keep trying! In a worst case scenario, I can find alternatives for people like you by imitating LLF's idea of retro TWGs (in which we permit those who desire to host but haven't been able to host TWGs of the past) or even having separate Host Sign Ups. Until then, you should continue trying! It took 4 or 5 Sign Ups for one of my friend's game to be selected at LLF, so just be patient and maybe your game will win!
Also, Spyro, your game is still unbalanced. Humans would just need to claim and lynch any counterclaimers or those who claimed Human even still. And, as I stated before, I would rather see you play a few more games before hosting, to be honest.
The goal I had set for myself when I started playing was that I would have to read all of the past TWG's on nsm and play three games before I hosted myself. XD
I did learn the basics of TWG through that, though.

Yeah I figured. That's why I don't get why I'm supposed to reveal the roles to everyone. It makes a much better game if you can claim your role when no one knows the roles.

Card flipping is not a bad idea. However, I will think about what kind of impact it'd have on the game before I add in. Also, I don't think you have realised what jijimon's power means for the game. Also, players are not given any choice in my game, unless they know which player is jijimon, or vigi themselves.

Just a question, have you read my game in the original sign-up topic for twg XXVI?
Anyway, my chrono cross game lost 4 host sign-ups in succesion (not counting the I want to be a princess host sign-ups because I lost that befor I even posted my game) and two of them were against way more complicated games than itself (Disability and SBURB) while the other two were against a manhunt (the end of zee waurld) and a basic game (black and white). I don't like manhunts, and I also prefer hosting more intricate games over basic games so I thought if I made a game that was of the same level as Disability girls and SBURB I had a greater chance of actually hosting (although the game looks more difficult than the other two, that's mainly because the post is so large. More than half of the roles will eventually not even appear in the game, and the digivolution system is mainly a problem for the host)..
TWG XXXV: Professor Layton
To my dear friend, NSM,
What we witnessed in that small village of Ellivflow may have been one of the most intricate and curious cases the professor and I have ever been through. Although I never forget any of our adventures together, I'm sure that the professor and I will often look back on this case as one of our greatest.
It all began when the professor received a mysterious letter in the mail...
"Professor Layton, help! We have identified eleven rogue residents in our village and we know that three of them are confirmed criminals! However...we can't quite seem to tell which ones are the outlaws!
1. Master Wolf – Don Paolo (seered Green)
2. Wolf Painter– Jean Descole
3. Wolf – Villager
4. Miller – Stachenscarfen (is told he is a villager)
5. Seer – Granny Riddleton
6. Guardian – Barton (cannot guard self)
7. Human – Villager
8. Human – Villager
9. Human – Villager
10. Human – Villager
11. Human – Villager
12. Human – Villager
(NPC's: Layton, Luke, Chelmey, Flora
Items:
-Reviver Item: Only given out on night phase 2 & 4, must solve special puzzle distributed day phase 1 and 3. The reviver item will revive ONE player for the follwin day phase. The player may give his/her opinions and vote.
- Psychic item (x2): One psychic item will be distributed to the first two players who correctly answer the puzzle distributed during the day phase. This item will tell how many wolves are left.
Both psychic items will be distributed randomly on night one ONLY. Items will be only usable the Night phase you receive them, so i suggest you use them when you can! You snooze you lose.)
Our village may be in serious danger, so we are in dire need of your help!
Sincerely, (and helplessly),
Mayor Paolo Paul"
So, unafraid of what may lie ahead, the Professor and I set out to help the village of Ellivflow...
Kman96.
Layton sounds fun, but too typical for me right now. I propose a manhunt, because those are always when I have the most fun. But someone else has to host.
TWG XXXVI: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

But I said it's for XXXVI!!!!! :(
I want to have one more special game before the manhunt.
I'll vote for Kman
Has everyone posted his/her game? I'll put up the poll at 9PM EST today if that's the case.
it is unfortunate to tell you all that i should not host this game. i have irl things that need to be done, so i would not be able to be an attentive host. i am so sorry...because i really wanted to host this game, but unfortunately, i believe this is the right decision for me.
I'll host for you if that game wins.... :o
Quote from: SlowPokemon on June 30, 2012, 12:07:07 PMI'll host for you if that game wins.... :o
thank you, slow, but i want to host this game. i really would like to. some other time, i guess.
OK I'M BACK IN. I CAN'T GIVE UP THIS OPPORTUNITY!!!
...but I need a temporary co-host. I will be gone the week of the 15-21 for Boy scout camp, and if I can't be there to host, I need someone to be there in my stead. Slow, would you care to be my temporary co-host? I'll do all the work, I just need you there in case I can't be. Please please please???
I'd rather play the other game and wait for you to return, to be honest
I'd do it, if you really need someone, Kman.
I'll co-host. I've been wanting to host forever D:

Thanks you two, but let's see the result of the poll first.
By the way, the poll is up, everyone.
nevermind. i cant do it. hosting right now would be a very bad idea at the moment. i hate parents and i hate school. and i guess ill be taking a break from TWG for a while because i have too much shit that has to get done. im really sorry everyone.
and im not settling for someone else to host this game- im gonna host it...eventually. :'(
Well that settles that then.
davy, you may make Player Sign Ups now.
