New Zelda
3DS
Link is
Paper Mario Chalk Art
Hammers
Is your body ready?
EDIT: Okay fuck it I'm not going to try to get that video to work.
Thanks.
That wall thing looks kinda odd. I never played the original, so I suppose I should do that.
Other than that, I'm excited. New Zelda FTW!
This honestly looks like it could be the best top-down Zelda game since...well...A Link to the Past. Almost makes me want to get a 3DS. Almost.
oop. xD So there is a topic on this...LOL...accidentally said we should talk about this in that other zelda topic that someone bumped...
I'm not impressed by the game so far, but I will play it and I will love it. That's how Nintendo-games normally works for me, even though this one seems to have the same puzzle solving as Super Paper Mario
Don't know what to do? Go into 3d!
It worked for SPM, but I don't want it again
Got Link to the past 1 for the GBA.
Let's see what's inside.
Bump.
So according to EB Games, this game features
- A daring adventure awaits Link in Hyrule, where he can use his new ability to become a "drawing" and merge into walls of dungeons and fields. This opens up new ways to explore, and puzzle elements that give Link access to locations he could not otherwise reach.
- The game brings this top-down, 2D world to life with elevation and depth enabled by the Nintendo 3DS system's 3D visuals. The stunning 3D visuals are made possible by the constant frame rate of 60 frames per second.
- Using the touch screen, touch and drag the item from the items window and switch the item assigned to the X and/or Y buttons.
Are you hyped yet?
I'm sure it'll be a great game, but Nintendo really hasn't given this one much publicity. My hype level is pretty low right now, and that's rare for a Zelda game :o
It looks great so far, but I want some more info on it.
Oh, hello. *Posting for notifications*
Also, I'm excited for any zelda game! This one looks like it won't let me down!!
Lol maybe this will be the second Zelda game I will complete. :P
fuck you kefka
Wow. No one's said anything about this one in a while.
BUUUUUMP!
So. This guy? Ravio.
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.wikia.com%2Fzelda%2Fimages%2F6%2F68%2FRavio_zelda.jpg&hash=fd852af677e8ed6651cef07bc08f8c64797b7d30)
I couldn't tell until I saw this picture, but as it turns out, he's human! The bunny thing is just a mask. But, under that mask...
It has been revealed that Majora's mask is hanging in his shop for a currently unknown reason, but I think that Ravio is really...
...the HAPPY MASK SALESMAN!
y/y?
OMFG
I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING
Oh hell yeah I'm down with that headcanon.
I should actually BEAT alttp before this comes out, but I'm still stuck on the second boss haha woops
aLBW/MM theory time!
So, Aonuma said we'd know about Majora's Mask by the end of a Link Between Worlds.
Here's my theory (beyond Ravio being the happy mask salesman)
Spoiler
Lorule is Termina.
That's right.
Think about it.
In Majora's Mask, Termina was presented as very similar while very different from Hyrule.
The same as Lorule.
In addition, what is the condition of the Mountain in Lorule? Permanently winter. Also, have you seen the video of Link entering Lorule? It look very trippy, doesn't it, with the black background and the bright colours mixed together?
Just sayin'
Ooh. Interesting. Possible sequel, then?
Quote from: Nebbles on November 03, 2013, 09:59:04 PMOoh. Interesting. Possible sequel, then?
I was thinking more of a prequel, perhaps explaining a bit more history behind Termina? I don't know any more about the story than I directed Shadowkirby to, but perhaps this game might conclude in the renaming of Lorule to Termina (EVEN THOUGH LORULE IS THE CLEVEREREST NAME EVURR).
we shall see.
So it'd take place before OoT? But if memory serves, attlp is from the "link fails to beat ganondorf" timeline... so yeah, it'd be hard placing it in the "link succeeds as a child" timeline.
I guess we'd just put it after attlp in the timeline, but where exactly? I gotta look again...
Dammit Nintendo get your timelines together
A couple things:
I believe ALBW is stated to be several generations after ALttP, based off of what the old man says in the beginning. Also, a couple sources reported Aonuma discussing how they were removing that annoying hand-holding thing, like in Skyward Sword. It's going to be a lot like the earlier Zeldas, where you don't really have to do everything in order. And what I think is funny is in order to make it 3D, they had to literally tilt everything in the game 45 degrees away from the screen :P
OHHHHH SNAP. DEM IMAGES.

My reactions
1. IS THAT A GORON?! No wait...it has pointy ears...BUT DAT BELT THO
2.What the hell is that. Is that a wannabe Zora?
3. A castle guard! Stuck as a painting! Nailed it!
4. A soldier painting? Will painting link have to fight enemies in his new form?
5. Okay. This is a river zora. a river zora and Ruto combined. dayumn. New merpeople.
6. Looks like a darknut! shweeeet.
7. SHADOWWWWW LIIIIIIINK AWWWWW SHIIIIIIIT!
8. Another castle guard painting. he doesn't seem too worried. maybe he's in on it.
9. A sage? This dude doesn't look evil- there's a triforce on it's sash...Okay, shit, I can't tell if it's a dude or a chick.
10. MOBLIN! AND IT LOOKS LIKE PORKEY!
11. I'm guessing this is the new Impa!
Spoiler
Shadow link awwwwww yeah
Spoiler
Can I please not be alone in thinking that the Nintendo is just making Zelda games that hint at each other and have a few direct sequels, but don't actually follow a timeline. Sure, there's no debating that Spirit Tracks comes after Phantom Hourglass and Majora's Mask comes after Ocarina of Time, but I see this timeline stuff that connects Wind Waker to Zelda II and it just looks like people are making a timeline in which they find what they're looking for.
Of course, now I'm remembering that Nintendo actually mentioned a general idea of a timeline, but I want to see what they actually think.
Nintendo has released three official timelines so yes you are alone
Really? I need to get back on all this stuff. Nevermind.
Yeah, an actual timeline got released ages ago. It's in the Hyrule Historia.
Best exposition I've ever seen on the timelines:
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D 11 MORE DAYS ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I'M SO EXCITED
It's me again!
Okay, so I have a quick question: I preordered the sexy golden 3DS XL bundle, which comes with a download code for the game. Problem is, I REALLY want the boxed version. So, would anyone be interested in buying the download code of the game from me AT A CHEAPER PRICE than the game is normally, so I can buy the cartridge? The boxed edition really is worth the extra bucks to me.
Yes, send me a message about it when you get the code ^^
I love you Winter.
Suggested price?
I'm not sure, what's retail value?
Okay so I saw this theory on zeldadungeon that lorule is in fact
Spoiler
TERMINA
Or at least what it would have been if
Spoiler

Spoiler
HAS A PARALLEL CHARACTER IN LORULE
just like
Spoiler
MAJORA'S MASK
Thoughts?
Isn't that what shadowkirby just said?
Whoops you're right. Well I agree with him wholeheartedly in that case. Also the portal looks a bit like the MM one too imo.
Winter, I believe $39.99 so.... maybe $25-30?
Sounds fine to me!
SPOILER ALERT
Looks like somebody managed to play the game and gave a couple early game tidbits.
Spoiler
You can explore most of Hyrule even before going to the Sanctuary.
The Lantern does not use the Energy-Meter. Only Ravio items do.
In Kakariko you can buy a bottle from the merchant and get the Bug-Catching Net from a bee guy, similar to A Link to the Past.
The bar in the southeast part of town is now a Milk Bar and the owner looks like Talon.
The shop in Kakariko lets you buy a shield, the Foul Fruit and the Scoot Fruit. 50 Rupees each.
The Foul Fruit stuns enemies in the environment or scares them off (haven't tested it).
The Scoot Fruit warps you out of dungeons.
You can sell bees for 50 Rupees each to the bee guy. Bees are easy to find in Kakariko, so this is a very easy way to farm Rupees. Bees are stored in bottles.
Hyrule Castle walls get "graffiti" of the cursed soldiers.
From Ravio you get Ravio's Bracelet. It generates the Energy-Meter and is used by all of his items.
Rented items have purple bunny ears on them.
9th item in Ravio's shop is the Sand Rod. Nintendo already released an artwork of the item, it's the one that looks like a golden shovel. However, it was rented by one of the descendants of the Sages, who then gets abducted by Yuga. So, you're not able to rent the Sand Rod in the beginning of the game.
You can, however, rent all other items right after the Eastern Palace. Prices are between 20 and 100 Rupees for renting. Fire Rod and Ice Rod are most expansive with 100 Rupees each. But I could easily afford renting all items at once.
The small bird creature next to Ravio takes the items back, if you die (never happened to me though).
Eastern Palace is quite non-linear in design, also has some optional parts.
Yuga turns Link into a painting at the end of the dungeon, but Ravio's Bracelet saves him.
After the boss fight you can explore the outer walls of Eastern Palace.
There are purple Energy Jars (similar to Magic Jars), which instantly refill your Energy-Meter.
The mother from the smith family is looking for her boy at this point in the game. He seems to have disappeared at the Flute Boy's Meadow, where you can only find his Pouch (it lets you equip items with X).
You can merge with the wall behind Majora's Mask in Link's house. This makes it look like Link's actually wearing the mask.
Irene, the witch, acts as your teleport system. You can call her with the bell and she will transport you to any of the bird statues.
The bird statues need to be activated and they also act as your saving points. You can't save the game at any time, only at the statues.
The witch hut offers four different potions: red, blue, golden/yellow and purple.
Red Potion only costs Rupees and heals eight hearts.
Blue Potion heals all hearts, but requires some blue stuff from monsters in addition to Rupees.
Golden/Yellow Potion makes you invulnerable for a small time. Don't remember the requirements.
Purple Potion damages enemies in the environment. Requires those purple monster guts.
There are 100 Maiamais to collect. The map shows the total number of remaining Maiamais per region.
Maiamais feel like a mix between Secret Seashells and Gold Skulltulas. Can be found behind houses, in trees, in pots, under water...
You can only upgrade Ravio items and only, if they were bought, not rented.
You have the choice between two dungeons at this point: House of Gales and Tower of Hera.
House of Gales is the windmill dungeon on Lake Hylia, which Nintendo already showed us. It requires the Tornado Rod, but also the Zora Flippers.
You can get the Zora Flippers from the Zora Queen, but you have to bring back a gem, which prevents her from becoming fatter (I won't spoil the surprise here).
House of Gales has some very clever puzzles with the wall merging. I got stuck two times...
Boss of House of Gales is a giant pillar with an eye on top. It tries to push you into an abyss. Very fun and creative fight.
Tower of Hera requires the Hammer, but also the Power Glove.
You get the Power Glove from a guy, who lives at the old lumberjack house and lifts rocks.
The Power Glove only lifts small rocks. For the big ones you need the Titan's Mitts (according to Hint Ghosts).
Death Mountain is full of rolling boulders. Spectacle Rock is now an active vulcano. The Deadrock enemies make a return.
You dodge the boulders with the wall merge or destroy them with your Hammer. Some of them are covered in Rupees.
The Tower of Hera dungeon appears to be the same as in the demo (I stopped playing it in the middle).
East of Tower of Hera you can use the Hookshot to enter the top of the other mountain. However, you will be stopped by Lynels, which can easily kill you. Yes, this games uses enemies as a boundary.
The Desert is completely shut off. No way in there. It's probably the opposite to ALttP, so have to get there from Lorule, I suppose.
The sparkling rocks from the GBA version of ALttP return. They drop Rupees, when you hit them.
There's another new minidungeon next to the graveyard, similar to the one at Eastern Palace.
There's a bottle to find with a message in it.
I was able to get 15 of 20 items. Probably missing two more bottles and the Sand Rod. Two remaining items are completely unknown at this point.
Nintendo sends some early copies to famous reviewers, if I recall.

I suspect that he's Lorule's Link, partly because we haven't heard any mention of him, and also because in ALttP, Link would turn into a bunny when he went to the Dark World. Plus it would make sense as to how he got all those items to rent out, since those items could just be from his own adventures.

so they request spoiler tags for everything so that they can make their own guesses and connections while playing the game, etc.

I can't wish for anything without you complaining, can I?!
If it turns out Ravio is Lorule-Link, it sucks because a plot twist was taken away from me.

That was just Echo's theory, hence the word "suspect" (I could say "I suspect that Ravio is actually the King of Hyrule in disguise," but that doesn't mean anything; in fact, Kman did something similar (http://www.ninsheetm.us/smf/index.php?topic=5531.msg231190#msg231190)).
Yeah, but making me think the same is the difference.
Yay I'll get it so soon
I saw some spoiler vids
i was very disappointed with how it ended. It was nothing like I predicted, and Majora's Mask is basically just an Easter Egg.
Also, Echo was right.
GOT THE GAME YEAAAAAH.
MAIL IT TO ME YEAHH
This game is so great omg
Baaaaaaaa I'm picking it up after school today! ...at about 9pm -_________-
Haven't opened the game yet... I'll start it soon.
If I feel like it, I'll post about my (horrendously slow) progress.
I bought it a while ago but I'm waiting until I finish something else special until I start this!
I gots it. Now I just gotta wait for my 3DS to get here -__-
So after about half an hour of playing I already beat the first dungeon.
For a handheld Zelda game, this is superb.
Got to Lorule last night. The enemies are much harder omg.
I think I'm going to hold off on starting this until I finish the wind waker HD. I'll never finish it if I start a new one :/
progress update, open this spoiler only if you've made it to Lorule
Four sages left! Ice Ruins had one of the most amazing 3D effect usage I've ever seen.
Got the two first pendants so far. This game is a joy so far - it controls so nicely and I love the music a lot.
This game is so good, get it.
Also, just found the X pouch XD
Got all three pendants earlier. Will be heading to the Lost Woods soon.
Also, I was so amused with myself after I found out I could rent all of Ravio's items at once from the moment he shows them to you... I feel so powerful now.
But with being able to rent all the items, it makes exploration... easy. It's an open-world Zelda game. god bless
pfft renting
I already bought them all.
I need to buy 'em all soon. Gotta get some money.
Quote from: Waddle Bro on November 23, 2013, 07:38:31 PMI already bought them all.
Do you get to do that later on in the game or what?
Still have not ventured into the Lost Woods, but will as soon as I shower. Which will be momentarily.
You should be able to buy them after getting the Master Sword.
Aaaaand beat the game. Now to 100% the Hero Mode.
Edit: Linky-poo = best name eva 8)
How fun are the sidequests? Or are they more like Skyward Sword where Fi tells you where they all are?
Help needed. Only read if you've gotten to Lorule.
Spoiler
So, with the whole seven dungeons thing, I ended up at the Theives' Hideout (or whatever) first. I already got stuck in that B2 room you can see from the beginning, the one with the one person locked in a cell. Wat do?
Thank god the Maiamai are swordproof, or else I'd have killed the vast majority of them by now.
Somewhat related:
Spoiler
Just upgraded my fire rod. Excuse me while I go kill everything.
Oh, and masterprox:
Spoiler
There's a cell near the top left of that room with a crack in the top wall of it. Use the bomb enemy in there to break it, then once you go through the hole, walk to the left, then down. That'll get you into the bottom left cell with the switches and the platforms that you can raise.
It seems like a bunch of people have beaten this game pretty soon after it launched... is it really that short? Or are people just nolifeing it :P
A combination of both.
Also, thanks Fierce... I dunno how I didn't notice you could go left in that small alcove. I swear I'd tried it already before asking for help...
Anyway, one dungeon down, six more (presumably) to go.
omg how good is this game! I just picked it up yesterday! :DDD
did you guys get this chest with the preorder and when it opens...it goes DUN DUN DUN DUNNNNNN!
and it can store 5 games? :P
Chest? Was there a special GameStop pre-order thing or something I missed?
You're making me disappointed now.
Not in America. I was fakin pissed :/
Yeah, the chest was a European thing only... I'm incredibly jealous.
You're pissed? I didn't even fucking hear about this.
My brother bought this on the eShop :0 I think he likes it so far??? He's a big Zelda fan.
This game is everything a Zelda game should be. Although I was hoping for a more longer adventure, but hands down the best handheld Zelda ever. Yes, I think even better than OoT3D.
How many hours would you say it was to complete?

Personally I think all the handhelds have had rather short adventures. Minish Cap really felt like a backstab :/
And obviously their new "method" or approach to the Zelda games is working...
I really wish I had this game D;
Minish Cap was a great game wat r u talkin aboot
And I was worried it was something like 10-12 hours for the first playthrough with how fast people were finishing it, but it sounds like its more like 20 which is alright. I'll probably still wait for a sale though as I know I can easily get many more hours out of Pokemon o;
...yugi, why did you change the name of this thread? ???
Second dungeon (Desert Temple) has been beaten. Yay.
what u guys didnt get it?? oh dang!
It's pretty neat! :D But you guys a lucky getting the ganon figurine for wind waker HD...Australia didnt get =_=
I got dat chest even though I wasn't planning to buy this game at all. Gamestop guy just recommended pre-ordering it so I was like "ok" (I am an easy customer).
Gary, I can buy that chest from you if you don't want it. Cuz I believe we're both Finnish. :3

<3 u2 Gary
I feel nintendo.fi should have informed about this preorder chest. They get lazier with the updates and events more and more.
Beat the Turtle Rock and Dark Palace dungeons just now. Three more to go.
There's another small thing I need help with though.
Spoiler
In the Dark Palace, there's this one room on the first floor (I think) that I don't know how to get into. It's the room below the one where you have the rising and descending platform in the middle, that you have to use to throw bombs on the switches on the sides of the moving platform.
Masterprox, I'm at that part right now, actually.
Spoiler
I've yet to figure it out either. I initially assumed that, seeing as bombs are the main ravio item in this one, you had to blow a hole in the bottom wall, and so I have set bombs on literally every inch of that wall, to no avail. I tried consulting a hint ghost, but it literally told me exactly what I'd suspected, that it needed "a well placed bomb". So, yeah, I'm kinda at a loss here, as well. Which kinda pisses me off, because I'm 99% sure there's a master ore in there.
Quote from: Yugi on November 27, 2013, 12:42:32 AMThis sounds pretty cool.
I personally prefer the Dark World theme.
Also, Fierce...
Spoiler
You're supposed to put a bomb on the bottom of the moving platform, when it's all the way down. And unfortunately, the only thing in this hidden room is a fairy spring. The real good stuff was that Master Ore from the secret second floor room, which I'm assuming you already found...
Quote from: MasterProX on November 27, 2013, 12:51:20 AMI personally prefer the Dark World theme.
Could you please give me a (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ft3.gstatic.com%2Fimages%3Fq%3Dtbn%3AANd9GcTsRS0WdVGEVRhadHN0ZctbizUGBOi5TpxoMQWQOsKs4fmUJPVRCA&hash=a8adf722d925b3716a7cff48d09fca8c9a257ffd)
So, I just beat the game, and to say that I shat myself in awe would be an understatement, so let me elaborate on that a little bit.
Don't read this unless you've finished the game
When Zelda gave me the bow of light, my intestines started to quiver.
When Ravio turned out to be Link's Lorule counterpart, my stomach started to emit a low, rumbling sound.
When Link and Zelda used their wish to restore Lorule's triforce, the seat of my pants started glowing with a bright light, and then my bowels released a river of shit the magnitude of which Andy Dufresne had to crawl through in Shawshank Redemption.
Needless to say, I was completely awestruck by how great that ending was.
Detailed shitting metaphors for my feelings about this ending aside, I am in love with the soundtrack for this game.
not really a spoiler unless you don't wanna know how the music develops
Having attempted to compose video game music, I'm so amazed by the way that they developed the music in this game. It seems as if they managed to find the perfect balance between repetitiveness and maintenance of interest. Orchestration of songs from A Link to the Past aside, they did some amazing things unique to this game; for example, the changing of the themes of Hyrule Field and Lorule Field in subtle but significant ways. What really blew my mind, though, was the theme for the very last dungeon. At the beginning, it was already amazing. But then, what's this? I beat a boss, and it gets a little more complex and variant. I beat another, and the pattern continues, and WAIT IS THAT GANON'S THEME HOLY SHIT. I beat the third, and the fourth, and I literally hold off going to the final boss so that I can listen to this final development some more. I cannot overstate how happy that made me.
Also, completely unrelated side note, but masterprox, I forgot to tell you I figured out that room in the dark palace.
Spoiler
You have to set a bomb on the bottom of the platform that raises and lowers so that it goes off when it's lowered, and it'll break a hole in the wall right beneath that. Which, I could have sworn I had tried already, but apparently my bomb hadn't been "well-placed" enough.
I too beat the game earlier... it was awesome.
And I already found out about the room in the Dark Palace... I even posted it for you in case you needed my help.
So, I just need a couple more heart pieces and ~60 more Maiamais, then I'll have completed the game 100%... on Normal. I'll start working on Hero soon.
Whoops, yeah, didn't see that haha.
I just remembered something that seemed kinda ridiculous about the ending, though.
Spoiler
It was way too goddamn easy to get the blue tunic. I mean, what the shit.
The red tunic was awesome to have before the boss fight.
On the topic of tunics...
Spoiler
I find it kinda stupid that you're stuck wearing blue/red once you get it, and that red is the final color you can end up wearing. I just don't think it looks nice. I mean, the Level 2 Master Sword and Red Mail would've matched and looked nice, or Level 3 and Blue Mail, but this... this is not cool.
I don't mind it all that much, actually. I mean, since they used the same two colors for each, they might as well have paired it, but it still looks cool imo.
Oh God... so I was on my old file just now, looking for the last of the Maiamais and heart pieces before starting Hero Mode... and I found the pouch. You know, Gulley's pouch, the one that lets you assign items to X instead of just Y.
...how long has this been here?
@MasterProX
Quote from: Waddle Bro on November 23, 2013, 02:07:36 PMAlso, just found the X pouch XD
I found it when I just had one Sage left to be found.
It seems like an item that'd be available from around the start of the game, after Gulley disappears...
Hahahahahahaha it is XD I hardly even remember not having it at this point.
Yeah my brother got it really early in the game
