What is the "Replacing the Sheets Project"?
The "Replacing the Sheets" Project is an organized effort brought to you by Olimar12345 and Myself to bring each and every sheet of music on Ninsheetmusic up to the current standard. Some of the target sheets were submitted before any quality standard was required. As a result, some of those sheets are abhorring. Most of these arrangements are up to date and great quality. I've made a list of sheets below that need replacing/editing.
In no way does this project forbid replacement submissions from other games/franchises. This is simply a united, organized effort to deal with the substandard sheets one game/category at a time.
We will be focusing on Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. Not just Banjo-Kazooie.
What you need to know:
-If you begin work on a sheet, post here letting me know so I can edit the target post (the next one) with the updated information. This keeps multiple people from working on the same song at the same time.
-Can't arrange? No problem; critique other sheets that either have not been looked at yet, or have just been revised. Olimar said he will be giving most of the feedback.
-There is no limit to how many sheets one may work on simultaneously but I would recommend no more than 3 and strongly dissuade any more than 5. Whatever is great though :)
-If you fix a sheet, your name will appear on the song list (on the Target Post) as the sheet modifier; however your name will not be listed as the arranger on the main site. Nor can you change the original arranger's name to your own on the sheet itself. This may only be done if the sheet was so dramatically changed that it counts as a replacement.
Altering the original arranger's name on a sheet without just cause is considered plagiarism and is strictly prohibited.
For more information on replacements, refer here (http://forum.ninsheetm.us/index.php?topic=6238.0). :)

If there are any other Banjo-Kazooie sheets that you think need replaced/edited and are not above, please tell me :)
Happy Replacing!!!
I guess no one likes Banjo-Kazooie...
The sooner we get done, the sooner we get an update and can move on to Castlevania then, Donkey Kong, etc.
It would be nice if I didnt have to do it myself.
I'll do these from Banjo-Kazooie:
Click Clock Wood (Spring)
Spiral Mountain
Also, here's (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFA7714E316F2CB06) a playlist for the ost.
Wow! Great! :)
I'll get the Ost in the Op.
Replacement:

Ooh ooh ooh I do! But I've got enough things to do around here so I don't think I'll be able to contribute much.
I'll upload my treasure trove cove fix when I eventually get on a computer.
I'll try to contribute but I honestly doubt I can do much. Banjo Kazooie seems like an odd choice to begin the project with, which explains the lack of...enthusiasm
It's just going alphabetically down the list of series.
Quote from: Deku Trombonist on December 30, 2014, 04:13:19 PMI'll upload my treasure trove cove fix when I eventually get on a computer.
Great!
Olimar said he's about 0:40 seconds through with both of the ones he claimed.

As Deku said, were going down the list alphabetically. Hopefully more people will be more enthusiastic when we get to their neck of the woods :p
Any contributers would be great! Even if you do just one song, that is very helpful.
I'll see if I can finish up my two this Saturday, and maybe take another depending on how this project looks.
Also, as a suggestion, perhaps you could add a poll with popular options for the next game to replace? That might bring more traffic this way.

Great idea!
Ok! i'll put the poll up soon!
First 5 people (Arrangers) to suggest a game gets their idea in the poll! :)
Go!
Perhaps later on/in a different thread would be a better idea. One thing at a time :P
I'll tentatively take Mr. Patch and Weldar. It will be a unique experience, replacing one of my own arrangements :P

Got yours in the OP, Olimar.
Also, Deku told me in a PM he is doing Treasure Trove Cove.

We're only waiting on 2! Huzzah!
Glitter Gulch Mine:
-You've left out notes in some of the RH chords from bar 5 onwards but it's really inconsistent. They should all be triads and then just take out the note that's clashing with the LH melody. Eg in bar 5 it's ok, but at the end of bar 6 the chord is missing the B, instead of missing the D which clashes with the melody
-If you listen carefully, the three chords in bar 8 are held for different lengths but this is not indicated on the sheet. And listen out for when this figure reappears
-In general the melody is quite bouncy with a good deal of separation between notes but none of this is indicated on the score
-The use of slurs and staccatos from bar 25-32 doesn't always match the actual note lengths in the original
-Bar 33 is missing the last note of the previous melody on beat 1 in the RH
-Use a double bar line on the key change
-The notes you put in brackets should be the accompaniment notes because they are less important than the melody
-Have a closer look at the harmonies from 43 onwards, they're not all right
In general, try to capture the 'feel' of the song more through your notation.
I've got URL changing covered for this project, just letting you know.

Either I can't here it or it's not there...
The chords on beat 2 and 3 are detached (more like crotchet with quaver rest) and the chord on beat 4 is held for it's full length all the way to the next bar.
Forgive me. Im not familiar with European terms. Could you take a pic or fix it yourself?
lol crotchet
Maybe one day I'll crochet a crotchet.

Sure thing
Ok.
If thats everything with Glitter Gulch, the you can put it under accepted int the OP.
How is coming Guys?
I'm still going ;)
Also, can you add King Sandybutt's Maze to the list? That really needs an overhaul.
Yeah! I'll get it on the list.
What's your status? ( last time you were up to freezeeezy.)
Would ANYONE like to do King Sandybutt's Maze?? It's the only one not taken! We'd be very grateful! :)
I can't seem to find the post so I may be imagining it, but did someone request a replacement of Mad Monster Mansion a while back? Or maybe it was one of Petpetfood's other arrangements?
Does it need a replacement? Cos, I can bash one out real easy if you need one.
All of Petpetfood's BK arrangements are severely "meh" in terms of quality, to be honest.
I dunno, I skipped looking over that one momentarily because I couldn't remember. I'll take a look and get back to you.

And he told me to put it under Accepted in the OP.
Yep, that's cool.
I haven't got to any of the arrangements in the thread yet anyway. I was going through the ones that aren't on the list but I got sidetracked with general submissions.

Ok
Olimar and I are regularly going through these on the thread (he's also teaching some basic music theory). You can go through the site ones on site and Olimar and I got the ones here in the thread :)
Ooh excellent, you actually made Mr. Patch playable (well perhaps the old one was too, but it was ugly)
I might try some of these out if I have free time this week (and I probably won't, but eh)
Cool! When we get the youtube thing up and working you can play some! :)
Olimar and I looked over "Grunty Industries (Inside)."
He told me to put it under accepted in the OP.
And Olimar and I just finished looking over "Targitzan - despotic totem god."
He also said put it under accepted.
ALPRAS and I have been pming back and forth. He is taking "Isle 'O Hags."
Also, Bespinben and Deku looked over "Terrydactyland" for me. I put it under accepted.

Mr Patch - Strange Wobbly Inflatable Thing:
- BPM is 170. This is a good tool for getting it correct everytime: www.all8.com/tools/bpm.htm
- Measure 1: I'd recommend accents instead of staccatos on the right hand notes.
- Measure 2: Beats 1 & 2 same as measure 1. Also, the 4th bass note is D adn E natural.
- Measure 3 & 4, I would put slurs in the right hand.
- Measure 5: The 6th and 8th eighth notes are C and E flat. Not C and F.
- Measure 6: The 6th and 8th eighth notes are D and E. Not E and F.
- Measures 5-11: I'd put staccatos on all the eighth notes.
- Measure 8: 6th and 8th notes are D and E. Not E and F.
- Measure 9- 10: Same as 5 & 6.
- Measure 12: 2nd and 4th eighth notes are C and E flat and C and D.
- Measure 13: Eight notes 5 & 6 are missing the articulations.
- Measures 13 - 16: I'd put the left hand 3 octaves. The bass there is too low and grumbly or
put those fast notes in like you did in measures 3 & 4. (I prefer the latter).
- Measures 17 - 19: I'd put those fast notes in the right hand..... You also neglected to put staccatos on some of the eight notes through this passage.....
- Measures 22 - 29: Same as Measures 5 - 12.
- Measure 30: Slur from the first note to the 10th note (with a staccato)
- Measure 31: ^
- Measures 30 - 33: Again, I'd put staccatos on all the eighth notes.
- Measure 34: Instead of mf, maybe an mp
- Measure 42: Instead of an ff, maybe an mf
- Measures 34, 38, 42, & 46, I'd put G flats and F flats in place of the F Sharps and E naturals (right - hand).
- Measure 37: Left Hand: Change the D's to C's (Eight notes 2, 4, 6, and 8 )
- Measure 45: ^
- Measure 50 - 54: Neglected to put staccatos on some of the notes.....
- Measures 55 - 62: Same as 5 - 12.
- Measure 64 & 66 & 68: 3rd and 4th eighth notes are E and D.
- Measure 70: 1st eight note is E flat and C. 2nd eighth note is D and E.
- Measures 71 - 74: Same as 30 - 33.
- Measures 75 - 78: Only staccatos are needed here.
- Measures 88 - 95: Same as 5 - 12 (except for the ending of course)
Nice ending btw :)

Weldar - Visually-Impaired Welding Torch
- Measures 35 - 42: Maybe some Staccatos in the right hand.
- Measures 57 - 78: There's a bunch of notes notes throughout this passage. Listen really carefully.
- Measures 69 - 78: I'd get rid of that bottom note.
- Measures 79 - 86: Staccatos in the right hand would be nice.
- Measures 79 - 86: Bass needs to come up an octave.

So, Updaters, are we gonna get a move on this? :)
*Ahem* What.
I had been working on this the past few days, but now I see you've beaten me to it! I have no problems except for the glaringly obvious errors of not having Grant Kirkhope as the composer, having Nintendo as the rights holder (it is and never was rights/copyright holder. Rare is) and the release date, which is 2000, with the re-release in 2009. I think you have gotten this confused with another game.
And you got rid of my outro :'( Otherwise, thanks for that! *puts feet up and sips drink*

Some quick fixes, and should be good to go:
*A little too much unused whitespace on the bottom of page 1
* M. 43+ should be in key of F (1 flat), not Bb (2 flats as it is currently). This is clear from the C7 chord in m. 42 beat 4, acting as a secondary dominant.
* M. 47, beat 4 ~ Remove the F from the bottom of the RH chord to prevent note overlap. Sharing the note with both hands (via parentheses) is not good here because of how the F moves chromatically upwards in the LH on the following upbeat.
* M. 52 ~ That Eb and E natural in beat 4 has a non-functional relationship (and very discordant), but listening to the original that actually is how it goes. Technically you could think of it as a C7#9 chord, but the fact that the #9 is in the bass makes the arrangement of tones very off-putting. Personally I'd remove the E natural from the top of the RH chord since you get both the Eb and the E natural in the bass melody.
*M. 54 ~ There's a slur that is colliding against a staccato. Also, you might want to take out the F in the RH 2nd layer to make the little response figure from the clarinet more pronounced. That Ab needs to be G# also in beat 4 & 2/3's.
*M. 55 ~ The G of beat 4 & 2/3's in the RH should be G#.
*M. 64 ~ In beat 4, add a B natural to the chord. The 3rd of a dominant 7th chord is the second most important ingredient in the chord's makeup, next to the 7th itself. (There's a B natural in the OST anyway, but it's good to know WHY it's there)
Thanks you super duper much! :)
I'll get it when I get on my computer :)

All fixed! Link in Op is fixed
Glitter Gulch Mine is now Accepted.
Excellent! Updated it in the op.
Only 8 songs to go! ( to be "feedbacked")
Wonderwing - Banjo Kazooie
*Measure 1, beat 2 should be a triplet{quarter+eighth}, not a dotted eighth+sixteenth, from what I hear in the OST
*The whole left hand is always in ledger line territory. Consider using ottava (8vb).
*For some reason, the clef change marking at the end of m. 11 is invisible :o
*Measure 13, beat 1 ~ Eb's should be D#'s (chromatic neighboring tone)
Good sheet. Also, the sheet seems just a little smaller than it needs to be. Play around with the page formatting some; maybe use some of that extra whitespace at the bottom for another system? Normally I'd recommend the whole "4 measures per system" route, but that would make you need to shrink everything more :P

I gave this a very thorough lookover. Excellent arrangement. The presentation could use some sprucing-up though. I reformatted it as follows:
*Margins adjusted; page sizing down by 5%; measure distribution primarily at 3 per system; whitespace optimized
*Measures 21-29 ~ Bass notes should be written in ottava, but to avoid constantly writing 8vb then loco (repeat ad infinitum), I split the LH into two separates staves (for a total of 3), the bottom being solely the bass notes written in 8vb.
*Removed all slurs over staccato. I realize you intend these as phrase markings, but it could easily be confused with the notation for "portato".

Would anyone mind giving me a hand looking over the sheets that aren't on the list? (Really, unless they're deemed ok by an updater, every sheet needs to be on the list for these projects). I've got Banjo-Kazooie basically done, but the other three games are gonna take a while.
Ok!
Actually for this project were doing Banjo Kazooie and Tooie (not the other 2)
So, you want ALL the songs from Banjo Tooie (on the site)
In here to be replaced?
Okay, from Deku's replacement of "Jolly Roger's Lagoon", I only have one gripe, and that is in two spots. m21-28 and m93-103
In both of these spots in the right hand where the rests are placed, there is actually clearly a bass note that varies in that spot. I'm not sure about an easy way to notate them, but it would make it more accurate.
Also I've looked over Hailfire Peaks (Icy Side) and I'll say that's Accepted :P
From mariolegofan's replacement of "Race with Mary", on measure 19, the harmony from the intro is introduced. I think that should be moved up to the right hand so that it can make room for continuing the bassline in the bottom staff. Should be good to go other than that.

I left them out because I thought it would make for a bit too much clutter, in terms of sound. But I can have a fiddle with it some time. I haven't had a chance to look at either of my B-T sheets again yet which I'm planning to do.

You need to check some of those chords in the left hand. I'm pretty sure some of them are to big to be playable, at least the part from measure 22: since the right hand plays octaves, it can no longer grab notes in the bass clef to aid the left hand. A simple solution might be to just octavate the highest note in those chords one ocatave down.

You're right. I have a big hand so I didn't really check.
Those chords are so cool and I don't want to take them out so I think I'll make a note in there and have it say something like this:
"People with small hands roll left hand chords."
You could just make those chords glissando'd and put the gliss in parentheses. If that's possible.

Edit: I uploaded all the Banjo fixes I had.
Yes yes yes yes yes! Thanks and welcome back!
Is there anything you want me to do concerning this project? Anything :)
Awesome! All the on site Banjo Kazooie sheets are fixed (except for the finished replacements on the op). All we have left is Banjo Tooie.
There are still 5 or 6 Banjo Tooie sheets that need fixed so any help with that would be great since my finale is super slow. Since Deku is gone I'll be doing it myself.
I could use some help with the Credits (https://www.dropbox.com/s/jl9duswp8msp1mu/Credits.mus?dl=0). I have almost everything done, i just need measure numbers and the title needs to bolded (I don't know why it's not already...). I can do those myself.
The problem is with the ending. I'm trying to skip measure 57 during the first iteration of the song. I'm trying to make it work using a volta, but Notepad is not cooperating. Or maybe I'm just using a volta wrong. No idea. :P
The song repeats itself several times. It's basically a chorus, and it takes almost 2 pages for each individual repeat. And it plays this chorus 3 times throughout the entire song. So, I've been working to reduce that so that it only shows once on the sheets, but you go back and play it over again. I've got that all worked out.
The sheets work exactly like I want them to; every jump and repeat follows the order of the original song. With the exception of the ending, which plays no matter what I do. I could just put it at the end of the sheets, but then the pianist would be jumping from the middle of page 3 to the end of page 4. I would rather not have that happen. But, if that's what's necessary, then I'm fine with it.
Any tips?
Great! I'll give you some help when I get on my computer :)

Wait, what about Credits - Banjo-Tooie and Treasure Trove Cove - Banjo-Kazooie that you mentioned above?
Whoops. I forgot to put Credits on th OP. I did that one.
Treasure Trove Cove Deku did but I guess he forgot to post it :/
Would someone like to do it?

What happened to Brawler and his version that he was working on?
He pmed me and asked me to look over it. I did and showed him the changes (I left his name on of course). Then he pmed me back saying he liked the changes except he didn't want his name on.

Was this a revised version of the one on the site?
ummmmm
I don't know. The one on site is AWFUL. It needed a ton of work: Many notes missing etc.
Brawler, were you revising the one on the site, or were you start it fresh?
I was revising Sam Waetford's version that was on the site already.

Ok. I guess we can keep Sam's name on then......even though I did a ton of changes to it.
I dunno. I would let Olimar be the judge. As you said, you've improved the sheet by a great deal. I'm not against MLF being given credit for the sheet. For my part, however, I do not believe that my contribution warrants ownership of the sheet.
Why not "Arranged by Sam Waetford, edited by mariolegofan"? You've done more for the sheet than I have. :)
Yes, put:
"Arrangement by Sam Waetford
edited by mariolegofan"
Oke doke^
I'll get it up tonight when I'm on my computer.
Ok Olimar my boy!
Credits is in the OP.
I think that Treasure Trove Cove is the last sheet here? If so, I can take it. Anything specific that needs to be done? So far all I see is that the key sig is G Major(I think?), as well as some formatting.
MLF, would you give us all an update on how the project's going? I know there's been at least some progress that hasn't been documented publicly.
Sure! 47 songs have been accepted and 26 songs have not been accepted yet that have been arranged. 1 song not arranged yet.
72 of 73 songs have been arranged. Treasure Trove Cove has not been arranged yet but has been claimed by Nacho2420.....however, since he claimed it a long time ago, go ahead and do it brawler :)
Treasure Trove Cove (https://www.dropbox.com/s/osjz9kxaban55kv/Treasure%20Trove%20Cove.mus?dl=0). Simple changes. Made it G Major, fixed the formatting, and moved the cleft change closer to the notes.
An Alternate Version (https://www.dropbox.com/s/kke1v9npwsav7c5/BanjoKazooie%20-%20Treasure%20Trove%20Cove%20Alternative.mus?dl=0). This version is the exact same as the version above, but I added some voltas and repeats to make it shorter. It saves a page, roughly.
I'm happy with whichever version is chosen. :)
MLF, what's the last song to be arranged? Is anybody doing it?

Treasure Trove is the last song. The only thing left for the project is for them to be reviewed by Updaters. Right now we have 47 accepted and 26 not accepted yet.
Uhmm...Why did you change the key to G major/C Lydian?
Kirkhope hardly ever uses modes rather, he sticks to major and minor keys, so it is unlikely, given the context of the song, that this is in C Lydian. I think given the compositional and atmospheric style of the piece, that it is in C major. Kirkhope keeps his music melodically simple, so I think its more likely he intended C major over Lydian.
I can see how you thought it needed C Lydian, with no F's in the theme and occasional F#'s, however this is due to the chord changes Kirkhope employs. Banjo-Kazooie was written using the chord progression I - #IV since it sounds "kooky." (Analyse "Mumbo's Mountain's" main theme to see this). "Treasure Trove Cove" also does this during its B and C sections. Kirkhope also uses a I - bVI progression he uses in other songs, (e.g "Grunty Industries.") in the main melody. In this case, rather than an F#, it should be a Gb, given the change in chords.
Sorry if I got all technical on you, but this is a key signature we're talking about. Nothing could be of more importance.
I agree with Clanker, change the key back to C and just use accidentals. C is tonic.

Actually, that's exactly what I was thinking. :P

No problem! And I agree, hence my decision to change it; it always worries me when I see an older sheet with a bunch of flats or sharps, but in C Major. I generally assume that the previous arranger didn't put in the proper Key Sig due to laziness.
Fixed (https://www.dropbox.com/s/osjz9kxaban55kv/Treasure%20Trove%20Cove.mus?dl=0)!
Any Updaters wanna review some songs?
I decided to do Treasure Trove Cove from scratch:
