Here's the song

There are some things on the requirements I didn't meet because I have a demo version on finale and am incapable of doing these things.

Sounds pretty good so far!

The main thing that I see so far is that "arrangement" is misspelled. And NinSheetMusic has capital letters.

If you use MuseScore, you can fix most of the formatting stuff, which really helps in the submission process!

Layers are your friends. For example, with the section with the chord arpeggios in the right hand, it would make the music more readable if the melody was written in layer 2.

Personally, I would rearrange the passage so that the melody is played by the LH, transposed an octave lower so it wouldn't overlap with the arpeggios -- but that's just me. Either way, it's best written in separately rather than merged into a single layer.

Ok, I didn't know about layers, I'll try that out.

I changed it, but I cannot add layers because I'm using the free 2012 Finale Notepad. I'm afraid I won't be able to get a full version until probably Christmas. :P

Click the 1, 2, 3, or 4 buttons in the bottom left hand corner to change the layer that you're entering notes with.

Well then, the Finale website isn't very helpful.

Okay, I fixed it. Is there anything else you'd recommend?

Really study out officially published sheet music, and you'll get the feel for how things should look:

*Measures 5-10: The stem direction of the lower layer should point downwards, and the stem direction of the upper layer should point upwards. You can flip the direction of any note by highlighting it and hitting "L". (Yes, Notepad can do that)

*Measure 9-12: Pedal markings should ALWAYS be below the bottom staff, not in between.

*Measures 1-4: There are incorrectly spelled accidentals here. The way to know how to spell them is to identify the chords. Measure 1, beat 1, is an F minor chord, so it will be F Ab C, while measure 1, beat 3, a Gb minor chord, must be spelled Gb Bbb Db. You currently have m. 1, beat 3 spelled as Gb A Db, which doesn't follow the formula. Try and work out m. 2-4 yourself as well.

So that's what the double flats and sharps do. Okay, haven't used those yet in my lessons :P Anyways, I hope I put the stems in the correct direction, and I "numbered" the measures for you  ;)

So, I went through all of it.

[MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/wy94oyz8u2e0gqs/Zelda%20Four%20Swords%20-%20Sea%20of%20TreesDon.mus?dl=0)

Aside from fixing inaccurate notes and passages, I'd like to remark how I gave top priority to the main melody and the bass while adding the rest of the harmonic material in a playable, clean and clear way; which I think is very necessary when transcribing in a piece like this (that is, with harmonies an 8va+ up the main melody and such).

What do you think? :J

Okay, now I see why Bespin said put the arpeggios in bass. I'll try to re-make it a little differently, but I want to make sure I can play it. I'm going to write the song based by my ability to play :P

*Also I can't do 8vas or change right hand to bass clef.... SO ANNOYING!!!

**I hope I'm doing good. As you can tell, I'm not a very experienced song writer.

Hmm well if you so wish... However, don't limit yourself to only arrange things you can play, it's also good that you pick sometimes harder songs so you get more arranging abilities.

Don't worry about that, you'll get better eventually. :J
We're also here to help with those issues too after all. In any case, you can always keep the one I did if you want.

Yeah, I'm thinking of arranging Gungir Mix from Halo 2 Anniversary, I'm pretty sure I cannot play that at all XD

*Woah! Found some wrong notes and my measure counting was off :P

It was arranged by you, I just corrected the mistakes and cleaned the sheet a little. Following your logic, what are we here for? xD
However, if you want to do it again yourself, go ahead, but it would be nice to squeeze it in this update nonetheless. I just say it for your own benefit, so you don't have to wait for the next one, but it's up to you after all :/

And here's where we come with a big problem. The laptop I've been using to create music is not charging so I gave it to my parents to see if they can fix it, they probably won't be able to send it to the store for about 3 weeks or so. So I can't work on music until then...

Dunno then :/

Edit: now to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't want my efforts go to waste either, specially when I did it practically from scratch. In case you finally do want to fix it yourself and do your own version, could I keep mine for myself? Don't worry, I won't replace yours (when it's on site) with mine in the future. Nothing, nvm.

Cash has some really nice ideas for the texture of the arrangement, but I must heavily concur with the previous statement:
Quote from: cashwarrior1 on October 10, 2015, 04:47:26 AM*Woah! Found some wrong notes

That said, I have some strong suggestions for improving your sheet, while still maintaining the sense that it is yours, and yours alone:

1.) Measures 1-4 --- This section is made up of open fifth chords, meaning they do not have any 3rds. While I took the opportunity to help you properly spell these 3rds, they simply do not exist in the song:
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1111.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fh475%2FBespinben%2Ftree1.1_zpslca2s1lq.png&hash=c6ab2f06caa929ce9d350c710b7269f4c1af1d0b) (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/Bespinben/media/tree1.1_zpslca2s1lq.png.html)

The accurate transcription would be as follows:
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1111.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fh475%2FBespinben%2Ftree1_zpscvkbhwdo.png&hash=415943ca84c7b907a7f30adf884d168ce67b45c5) (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/Bespinben/media/tree1_zpscvkbhwdo.png.html)

2.) Measures 5-8 --- You need to fix the rhythm of the bass, and properly transcribe the 3 voices in the treble. There are tones in your version that don't exist in the song. Compare yours to how it should be:
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1111.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fh475%2FBespinben%2Ftree2.2_zpsnfzkzwuj.jpg&hash=4e0a7ba5c38e3b4aac218c69f97549458208bb50) (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/Bespinben/media/tree2.2_zpsnfzkzwuj.jpg.html)

...and:
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1111.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fh475%2FBespinben%2Ftree2_zps4m0o931h.png&hash=7c9afd4c1c43cff111957aeeb36413ef94472012) (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/Bespinben/media/tree2_zps4m0o931h.png.html)

3.) Measures 9-12 --- You have a great idea for the texture of this section, but it is poorly executed because the harmonies do not reflect the original at all:
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1111.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fh475%2FBespinben%2Ftree3.3_zpsac0vdpmd.png&hash=b459fec4a3c48227d4e3b91609f2558c08772f1d) (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/Bespinben/media/tree3.3_zpsac0vdpmd.png.html)

Adaptation of your ideas to the correct harmonies:
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1111.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fh475%2FBespinben%2Ftree3_zpsfw57nyhv.png&hash=0e2b81c9d5e2efe3f620b29fe80ded65c0fcba32) (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/Bespinben/media/tree3_zpsfw57nyhv.png.html)

4.) Measures 17-20 --- Harmonies are back on track (somewhat), but you still have extra voices that don't exist in the original. The bass rhythm has specific cut-off points as well which need to be notated:
(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1111.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fh475%2FBespinben%2Ftree4.4_zps6savz5oh.jpg&hash=33712eedd509ba41d2684390952dadcdd3036e0c) (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/Bespinben/media/tree4.4_zps6savz5oh.jpg.html)

Properly:

^This is like, the most epic method (format) of correcting I've ever seen on these forums. Just sayin'; must've taken forever.

Well, I can't work on it at home, but I now realize that I could possibly download finale at my Mom's office, because they have computers there and I'll work on fixing it (and re-listening to the song)

EDIT: I can't work on it this week, but hopefully next week :P

So, at my mom's office, the computer won't let me download finale notepad because it says the connection is unsafe and won't let me continue onward.

I think it's about time we closed shop on this one. It's too bad it had to come to this, considering how much effort had been put into this submission.
