I was digging around and couldn't find one because I just read an online thing about the Metroid storyline
WHY IS NINTENDO GIVING UP ON THEIR DEEPEST STORY
The only reason I can think of is because it doesn't sell. Which is bologna, because if they released a new game now (note: not Federation Force, it may be okay but it's not Metroid), it would be an instant goldmine with proper hype buildup.
I just can't believe they'd rather release the same Mario game 3 times than try to make another Metroid sidescroller
What I'd really like is a Metroid II remake. If done right, it would be amazing.
is there anyone who can give a general summary of each of the games without it being too in-depth? I been looking online and reading lore, which is great, but it doesn't make much sense when you only know alittle bit about metroid
What do you want to know?
everything
just a storyline of the games without going too far into backstory stuff, so that I can act like I've played them all
Just play them all, you'll thank me later. You can grab Metroid Prime Trilogy from the eShop or maybe Zero Mission if you want to start with 2D before trying 3D. :J
Zero mission comes first chronologically anyway.
Where does metroid fusion and metroid prime come in? Those are the only two I've played enough to know what's going on
when u take 0.2 sec to google http://metroid.wikia.com/wiki/Metroid_timeline
The Metroid timeline is nothing like the Zelda timeline. It goes in order and doesn't fuck up as much.
Still hoping that we eventually get a Metroid 5...
Bump. It's not metroid 5, but jfc I'll take anything at this point:

nice to know they remembered this is a series
*sniff*
I know metroid is a 3D game now but I really wouldn't mind another sidescroller

I take it you're not much of a fan of the Prime series?

Incorrect. Prime 1 was fantastic. Didn't care much for 2, but 3 was okay. The thing with the prime series that is meh is that timeline-wise, they are all shoved between Metroid and Metroid II, so it doesn't advance the series' story (wtf happens next, nintendo??). Another 2D game would be much appreciated, too. Those games have the meat of the series' story.
yeah if the first prime was released today it would still be awesome (even though I can't get past the chozo ruins ._.)
ISN'T THIS JUST WHAT I ASKED FOR 30 MINUTES AGO
suddenly AM2R's shutdown makes more sense

It's also what people have been asking for for like 10+ years.
ITS GETTING AMIIBO TOOOOOO
https://www.destructoid.com/that-metroid-2-3ds-remake-it-s-getting-two-new-amiibo-one-is-squishy-442475.phtml
yeah I'll buy that soundtrack
I... I'm not gonna cry... I'm not gonna... ;_;
METROID'S BACK. AWWWWW YEAH.
In case you don't have a 3DS already or just want another one:

That is beautiful. If I didn't already have the Majora's Mask one I'd pick it up
I didn't see a price included
I actually need another 3ds since mine is scratched and my brother broke the top right corner off. Might as well get this
I wish the samus decal was flipped around. As it is now, it would appear upside-down when playing or charging it in the cradle, which is lame.

WE BACK ON THE MAP BABY!
Really though, that's hype.
Metroid??
What's everyone's favorite games? Mine's a tie between Super Metroid and Fusion. Both had such a great atmosphere and soundtrack. I think Fusion was the first game I played that I turned off because I was so scared.
Prime 1 is a close second though. It captured the exploration and tone aspect almost as well as the 2D ones, but the controls were a turnoff for me (at least on the GC).
I'm almost done with my collection of CIB Metroid games. I'm only missing NES Metroid, Metroid II, and Prime 3.
Fusion, definitely
Super Metroid, with Prime 1 at a close second.

This. Metroid 3 is a classic and nothing short of a masterpiece. Metroid II is really fun (to me, at least) and is finally getting the remake it deserves imo. Also zero mission did a fantastic job making the original more accessible/approachable imo.
