This site is lacking in Elder Scrolls discussion, so post here & let's talk!
So my favorite elder scrolls game is Skyrim and my second favorite is oblivion. I'm not too happy about elder scrolls online really. It's just so different from the other elder scrolls games and I highly dislike it. I'm a Breton in the games due to my liking of all things magic. I rarely use Regular weapons and when I do, they are a magical weapon of some sort. I also love the dark brotherhood and the mages guild(in oblivion)/college of winterhold (in Skyrim).
Zelda is strictly better
Well I won't disagree. I think Zelda games are amazin, but my favorites are still the elder scrolls games :)

Breton, huh? I mostly go with an argonian, that way I can get away from enemies easier due to their ability to breath underwater. Plus they look REALLY cool!
I just get a spell of water breathing. I consider it better to just get a Breton due to the natural magic talent then I can use spells to just make up for the attributes the other races have ;)
I thought I ended this thread
Well apparently at least two people on nsm appreciate the elder scrolls ;)

Noc don't be a jerk.
Anyways, light armor or heavy armor? I personally go light armor since it doesn't weigh as much and I really don't feel like waiting so long before I can make it weightless. Plus some of the light armor looks amazing.
I guess I typically go with light armor. Specifically I wear different Mage clothes to increase my magicka ;D
Oh yeah, you prefer magic over swords and bows. Isn't that harder?
Yes it does require a little more skill and strategy since magicka runs out and takes longer to regenerate in battle but it's really rewarding being able to summon another creature to fight for you and also have a follower helping at the same time! Once you get strong the possibilities are endless especially in oblivion since you can make your own spells :D
Really? I didn't know oblivion could do that!
Yeah it's really amazing! You can create as many spells as you want. I really love it! :D
Like any spell you want or can you just pick based on certain limitations?
There are some limitations. It's based on what you already know for one instance. So say you know a healing spell. You can heal yourself 15 points every time you cast it. Well with the spell maker you can adjust the spell to heal you or every bring 15 feet around you or a certain target, then choose how many points you can heal, or if it's a instant spell or a spell that last for a certain amount of time. So a example is a spell that heals everything 20 feet around me, fifteen points every second, for 15 seconds! There are limits but still it's quite convenient compared to only having what spells are in books in the game like in Skyrim! ;D
Oh, sounds rather complicated.
Not really. It's just a lot of options to make your spells extra unique and useful for a ton of situations. What makes it complicated is you can't make spells till you get to the mages guild in the imperial city. To get in you have to go to every other city with a mages guild and assist with something to get a recommendation from each one! ::) ;D
How many are there?
There are 7 you have to help to get into the mages guild in the Imperial City. So 8 total mages guilds if you count the one in the Imperial City but only 7 you have to help to get into the one in the Imperial City.
I'm glad you don't have to do something like that to get into the college in Skyrim.
I agree somewhat. I don't get as much satisfaction out of the magical stuff in Skyrim though. In oblivion since you had to do stuff for seven mages guild locations in different cities and the main missions for the imperial city mages guild, it felt like a much longer and in depth experience than your experience through the mages college in Skyrim! ::)
I see your point in Skyrim the only thing you have to do to get ini the college is use a fireball spell, which the person you have to show the spell to can sell to you.
It actually changes every time you restart the game usually. I've had to perform a variety of different spells through my Skyrim restarts to get into the college! 8)
They still sell the spell you need, right?
Yes but that doesn't mean you will be able to use it. You may need to be leveled up more in that type of magic :o

Shush pleb. Dismissal of entirely different genre is only indicative of a failure to enjoy gaming.
If you're willing to burn a day or two on configuring weird scripts and downloading files, I recommend trying STEP (Skyrim Total Enhancement Project)
It has a giant collection of mods in every category (graphics, landscape, equipment, charcters, sound, etc.), giving extended functionality while still staying true to the original atmosphere and gameplay of the stock game. Great if you're itching for a fresh playthrough. There were some similar types of overhauls for Oblivion & Morrowind, but I've lost track of them.
how resource intensive is it? I might try this once I get Skyrim
More importantly, is it compatible with the console versions of Skyrim?
I already have the pc edition since I'm guessing that's what it works for. But I don't know much about that stuff on computers ::) It sounds amazing though and I'd love to give it a try if I could manage it!

None.

If you go big on the graphics mods it would be pretty heavy, but you can either skip them or get the "slim" versions of the mods that use much less VRAM with lower res textures or lower poly models. If you've performance constrainted, there's generally a certain set of visual mods you'll want to either avoid or get gimped versions of, but there are a ton of other gameplay and other tweak mods that are still great to have and won't have a performance impact.
There are a few benchmarks out there (like 3), but they're compiling a larger set for future release reference...
That sounds amazing!
It is, but it straight up takes a whole day to install
rip that idea for a few months then
Quote from: K-NiGhT on June 20, 2016, 09:34:35 PMrip that idea for a few months then
I agree! Considering this takes the average person a day to install, it would probably take me a month to install it :P
Why is that?
I am not particularly good at doing anything like that. I can install dlc stuff and packs from the skyrim workshop on the computer and that's all ::)
Just an opinion question in case I decide to get Skyrim: what's the best armor/clothing?
Well ;D if you're using magic you use cloak type clothing that enhances magicka. Or you can use regular clothes that just cover you up but do nothing. Then you can use different kinds of armor. Lighter armor protects you well enough and I'd suggest using with swords or bows. But also with bows you don't have to worry about it cause you will be far away. Heavy armor is usually for maces and great swords due to them being used for slower attack and you need more protection. :P
I'd say I'd go with lighter armor then. Although I'm not sure if I'd pick the bow/arrow or sword. Then again, the whole "magic" idea sounds cool! :P
Most people use weapons. They require no training and you can just start off pretty good. I immediately liked the magic approach and it's a long hard path. It requires much training and use to get good at it and to become powerful. But I think it's worth to due to the fact that honestly you become more powerful than any other kind of character. Magic allows you to summon powerful creatures that do the fighting for you and for you to heal yourself at the same time as attacking with fireballs and frost ;D it's quite exciting indeed!
Hmmmm... If I had the time, I'd most definitely pick magic, but I'm not sure if I would even have the time to build up strength like that
Well :-\ you must consider I've been playing the game for 5 years and have put in well over 500 hours into the game :o so I have a little experience
O_o whoa. I haven't put NEARLY that much time into Sunshine.
Well ;D I've spent a few summers dedicating hours of my time a week to the game 8) skyrim is just fun!
Agreed
Even Brainy agrees that it's fun 8) ;D
I play it whenever I getthe chance. I'm a dedicated member of the Dark Brotherhood after all.
Thankfully you can continue on with the darkbrotherhood on skyrim. In oblivion you run out of missions then can only once a week visit the night mothers statue and talk with her. At least in skyrim you can keep getting little missions 8)
Yep. I would have hated to run out of missions.
Honestly same. The dark brotherhood and mages stuff is always my favorite missions :P
And why is that?
Edit: I had to share this...
I totally forgot to watch that video and then respond. Oops. Band Camp kept me busy. :P
Look who's not dead! XD
I may have been on a extended adventure in skyrim clearing out some Nordic Ruins :P but I am back now!! And not dead!! ;D
Ahhhh Makes sense
I am very excited about skyrim remastered ;D it's supposed to be released in like October I think
(https://www.technobuffalo.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Skyrim.jpg) I am back from my extensive adventures in Skyrim!!! I was doing some inportant research but then I may or may not have taken an arrow to the knee :P :P :P
Surely it's about time ES VI comes out? I need a new big game to play... Zelda + Zero Horizon Dawn are the only games interesting me at the moment but they're on consoles that I don't have. Where do you guys want it to be set? I'm pretty pumped for Valenwood, myself.

That's what I'm thinking. It really should be about time for the next one to come out. I think they are putting too much focus into elder scrolls online and not really even concentrating on a new game, and personally I don't like the elder scrolls online much at all. I haven't put much thought into where I want the next game to be at though :o
They call VI "breath of the wild"
I decided to play The Elder Scrolls Online today on my PS4, but since I haven't played it in like over a year, I instead get to spend all day waiting for 45 gigs of update to download ::) ::) ::)
FORTY FIVE GIGS???
Say, you know what that reminds me of?
What?
I'll have 2 number 9s, a number 9 large, a number 6 with extra dip, 2 number 45s, one with cheese, and a large soda.
Yes you heard me right, 45 gigs. Which actually I am done downloading now and playing. I forgot how fun this is :D
That's the problem with harder classes & such: less time to play video games
Well unless you are like me and pretend you have no work till the very last second :o
Also I was very fascinated to find out today that they started developing The Elder Scrolls Online in 2007...they first released it in 2014...7 years of development
So how good is it with THAT MANY YEARS of developing?
It is the largest elder scrolls game so far :o But also they just keep adding on to it since it's online
I honestly want them to add the Black Marsh to the game. I've always wanted to explore it
Quote from: BrainyLucario on August 18, 2017, 07:29:28 AMI honestly want them to add the Black Marsh to the game. I've always wanted to explore it
Maybe the next Elder Scrolls game will be Black Marsh :o Its on Elder Scrolls Online so you can go explore it there if you want!
.....what. Well, there goes $60 I had in my wallet.
