This song is amazing!
Before the forum crash, several people were working on this.. but no one seemed to finish. Brian got about halfway through, then quit...
Here's what he got done:

Come on, lets finish arranging this song! It's amazing!

do you have it also in midi file?

i just wish i could help :(

I wish I had it in MIDI format. :P I'd definitely arrange it.
doesnt like VGmusic.net have midi's of a bunch of games or something?

it does but it does have this song....
before the site was down
several ppl were on this awesome song
i wonder what happened to them
dekudude, you should try and contact brian (if hes back....)
I was working on it. I'm about 2/5s done, i forgot, but i have to find it...hmm.
I can't recognize it from the game, only some parts of it.
do u think its really in the game? maybe thats why we can't find the midi.
but actually i don't want to let this song down
It's not in the game. Dekudude just wants the music to it, because it is a cool arrangment of it ;)
It's a remix of the Stone Tower Temple. ;)
Dekudude, what about the one I showd you? After Brian's part?
This is SOOOOO awsome! The best remix of Stone Tower ever!!!
Ya, I can play the whole thing, but not on Finale...
Piano Masta - I kinda lost Brian's half too. :P Also, yours still has to have some work done on it... could you post it here, so people could help out?
wasnt leftie the other working on it, he has quit nsm....

what do you mean?
It's like the Morning Theme someone was working on before the server crash. Everyone could play it, but the timing was impossible on Finale.
is it not able to make it for once a pdf file maybe?
What he means, is that he can't figure out how to write it in sheet music. :P He can play it, though.
I could make a video to proove. But my keyboard isnt in the room with the camera anymore.
We don't need proof. ;) We just need someone to make the sheet so WE can play it.
IM BACK YAY! (my last username was luke2460...i think)
i was about to give up on nsm since it was down for so long.
But im back now and craving for some nothing set in stone (long since mastered the first half of the song Brain arranged, i can play it blindfolded and deaf if i wanted to)
Its a shame im not good at those things but its great to be back!

A MIDI doesn't have to be the real thing.
My mp3 software program MIGHT be able to change it into one though.
i saw a $60 one that could import and export lots of things including MIDI's. A little better than mine.

yeah but to have it on midi is very handy, i mean u could hear better the notes, if u want to use ur ears for playing it.
but u can also find somekind of program that can show u the notes :)
It's beautiful!
I would like to play it too. Is there anyone who can arrange it? The irony is that this is NSM, and there's no arranger who can do it. O_o I doubt there's a midi for this song.
About this brian guy. Is he connected someway with vgsheets? Cuz he made a really cool arrangement called "Dark Overworld" for SMB. I pmed him, but I haven't gotten a reply from him yet. He said in his post that the sheets will be available in May or June. I want to learn how to play it before school ends :-\ Can anyone transcribe it? I posted it in the request forum.
Yes, that is the guy. :P He used to come here, and while he was here, he arranged about half of the song, then decided he was too busy. :(
QuoteDo you have the link to his old sheet? I kinda lost it.
I dont have the link for it but i DO have the sheet music for it. The thing is i dont know how to send it to you.
Visit www.mediafire.com. Upload the sheet there, then post the link it gives you. :)
http://www.mediafire.com/?3m8bytjmdmt
There ya go everyone! Thats the first half of the song that Brian arranged.
Great... I pasted it on the first post of this topic.
PianoMasta: Do you think you could show us what you have done already?
I cant because I dont have what I've done, meaning, I haven't done anything on Finale. But, I can play the song so good, I'm playing it in different key signatures. :)
Do you have a metronome? That could really help you arrange it.
So....what happened to Brain anyway? If he came back we could get him to finish it off (with nagging since i remember him not being too excited about arranging it). Anybody know him personally?
I have his IM address, but I'm not going to bug him. :P
Hey, PianoMasta: Do you think you could arrange the song using ONLY 8th notes? From there, we could reset the durations.
Ill just make a MIDI of me playing it.
Note that I cant play in Perfect 4/4 Time Signature...So...If you Import it to Finale, it wont look right.
MIDI
http://www.mediafire.com/?ommtzittjtj
After Made:
This is not a very good version of me playing it. Theres not many mistakes it just sounds bad for some reason.
How come you didn't just put a MUS?
Some parts of it are choppy, ...I don't think you actually played that, it doesn't seem like someone playing...
I played it. Do you mean it sounded like a Finale MIDI?
No, there could be multiple reasons why it's like that.
No MUS? Just upload it, it doesn't matter if all the notes are screwed up.
I told you, I dont know the timing on Finale.
http://www.mediafire.com/?ywyvc569zw5
This is what he made, but on Finale. It is a bit... of-timed. ^_^;
What PianoMasta has is pretty good... but still wrong at a couple of parts. I emailed Ice (the arranger of this remix) asking for help... lets wait for a response.
Ive ben e-Mailing him for a while, lol. He's making me a copy of it. And We're both working on a remix for a song I'm not telling you people! So...HA!! lol
Oh, he's making you a copy of the sheet? Awesome!

Holy crap.
How come there is one note playing on the treble clef when It should be on the bass at the beginning?
It looks a little to me like a converted MIDI, or mp3 converted to MIDI and the MIDI converted to MUS.
As far as I know, he made this using his MIDI keyboard... which could quite easily screw up the timing.

"It's a learning experience."

;D
I still have Brian's version ya know. I could send you guys that see if you can work off that. Although I can already play it as you can tell...
Ive already sent in what Brian has done so far (first half of song) and ive mastered it and now wait patiently (;)) for the other half.
Hello, my name is Ice (I also went by SecondChance for awhile on the remixing scene), and I'm the author of Nothing Set in Stone.
I had no idea there was so much demand for this particular remix. I can't promise a timeframe, but I will make an effort to put this remix into sheet music form for you.
The difficulty is that it was 100% improvisation. I basically sat down and decided to do a Zelda remix, and Stone Tower was the first thing that came out. One take for the piano, one take for the string section, and then I added the "monster" sound effects for good measure. With it being an improv, I'm not quite sure what I did, but I doubt it'll be difficult to figure out.
I have a couple more songs I tried my hand at lately, and I wonder if you'd enjoy them. Links are below:
http://www.warehouse17.com/windmill_jazz2.mp3 (http://www.warehouse17.com/windmill_jazz2.mp3)
http://www.warehouse17.com/z2_intro.mp3 (http://www.warehouse17.com/z2_intro.mp3)
And finally, it actually means a lot to me that people enjoy listening to my work. The feedback is great, and encourages me and others to keep remixing (which is often a thankless art).
Thanks for listening,
Ice
Haha, 100% improvisation? Wow. =P Looks like you're one great pianist. :P I just listened to the Windmill Jazz. Very nice. ^_^ The Intro was also nice. Good job! I look forward to your arrangement of Nothing Set in Stone, and your kindness in helping us make it.
Ice, out of curiosity, are you going to remain active on NSM? It would be really awesome to have you as a member.
I agree! it would be aweseom to have you onboard! Im just glad to see that its actually going to get finished! Cant wait! :D
Thank you for the warm welcome. As time permits I'd love to stick around.
-Ice
Do you have a section somewhere that I could find all of your awesome remixes?
It would be really nice If you had some more that I can listen to, especially since I got the power of an mp3 player <_<
Good news, I was able to get a good start on the Nothing Set in Stone sheet music today. I hope to have it completed in a couple of weeks.
Akiro asked about some of my previous work. I don't have a website currently, but I do have some tracks you can listen to sitting around on an old server. Please keep in mind that these are improvs or demonstrations and not final "release-quality" remixes =)
This is a fairly "esoteric" remix I did of the Fairy Fountain theme: http://www.warehouse17.com/fairy.mp3 (http://www.warehouse17.com/fairy.mp3)
A fairly dramatic Zelda 4 remix: http://www.warehouse17.com/79-mix1.mp3 (http://www.warehouse17.com/79-mix1.mp3)
I did the Kakariko Village theme as if it were from an 80's TV show: http://www.warehouse17.com/07-kakariko_demotake.mp3 (http://www.warehouse17.com/07-kakariko_demotake.mp3)
Just a real sombre piano piece featuring the Zelda 2 main theme: http://www.warehouse17.com/02-z2ow_demotake.mp3 (http://www.warehouse17.com/02-z2ow_demotake.mp3)
The song that plays before you get your sword is the feature of this piano remix: http://www.warehouse17.com/05-z4exp_demotake.mp3 (http://www.warehouse17.com/05-z4exp_demotake.mp3)
Thank you for listening!
Haha, wow.. these are really nice! =D I look forward to seeing more from you.
Do you have a video camera? It would be great if you could make some piano videos. GameTrailers.com is a good place to post them. YouTube works too, but you'll hardly gain any recognition.
Oh Sweet, those are da best man, seriously.
Those are all very nice. I still like 'nothing set in stone' the best, i cant help but notice that most of your songs dont have the 'livliness' that nothing set in stone offers.
The Jazzy Song of Storms he posted earlier is pretty nice too, though... but the ending was flat. :P Did you see that one?
I musta missed that one. I tried them out and they're actually quite good. I quite liked the intro, the main one kinda took some time to actually get started but when it did i enjoyed it. Keep em coming! I wish i could do stuff like that, im just not as talented.
The Jazzy Song of Storm was the one that PianoMasta7 helped with.
Then in that case, I must say I look forward to seeing what else they come up with. :P
Hey, Ice. It's Me,
What did you think about the Remix of Zelda II's Palace theme I made?
Also, The school Talent Show is coming up, and I plan on Playing this song. Is it alright if I do. I'll obviously say, "Original Composition by Ice Sycle."
PianoMasta,
Your Z2 remix turned out pretty well! The instruments sounded good, the arrangement had a nice mix of tension and release, dynamics were good, and stereo work was good. Keep it up!
I just played the first half of 'Nothing Set in Stone' for my Half-Yearly exams!
I didnt make any mistakes ;D
Ill tell you how i went when i get my marks back.
Piano recital?
Was there a sheet thrown out in the middle of this?
If so, I didn't see it.
P.S. Dekudude, check your private messages!

...but didn't you just say you didn't make any mistakes? ::)
I didnt, but its not all about playing the correct notes. Its also about how i played them. Dynamics used, maintain steady tempo etc.
Pearcinator,
I'm flattered that you chose Nothing Set in Stone and excited that you played it well for your exam. I'm sure you'll get a great score!
-Ice
By the way ... does anyone have any remix or sheet music requests?
Nothing Set in Stone is great for the time being, but if you ever have time, I'd love more sheet music. :P Anything you've got would be awesome.
Nothing Set in Stone also sounds good if you play it as different key signatures. I play it; You know Dire, Dire Docks? Well, I play it at that key signature.

Check it out everybody. I put a video of myself playing this song on Youtube.

Pretty Good! Just make sure it's, "A-----C-----B-----
G--A-C-B-A-G-----E-----"
By the way, nice pants! lol
I don't know if you realize, but you have a note wrong and you play it like 3 times.
Well i was bound to get a note wrong or two cos i was recording it and well yeah nervous lol.
Whats wrong with my pants Pianomasta?
I did make a few minor adjustments to the actual sheet music (for instance i cut a whole bit out if you noticed). ;D
Think you could also upload to GameTrailers? My dad installed some stupid content filter on my computer, so YouTube is blocked. :(
Could you use a Proxy?
I could, but I don't want to risk it.
So, you can't even put the <embed ...> in? It still won't play?
Its just that i dont have a Gametrailers user account and i couldnt be bothered re-uploading.
<embed /> won't work either... nothing will, except a proxy, which I'm NOT going to use.
Pearcinator: Okay, that's fine. ^_^ I was just asking. I'm sure you did a great job, and I would give you 4-5 stars if I could. :P
Hey Pearcinator,
Just watched the video ... good job on the performance!
And BTW, I don't know what's up with the comments about your pants - I like 'em =D
-Ice
LOL im wearing the exact same pants now.
Those pants are awsome!
I just noticed that theres a hole in the back of these pants :(
A hole in the back of your pants? You just "opened yourself up" to all kinds of jokes and innuendo, now =D
Oh yeah - for that guy who requested some of my music, here's a version of Brinstar I did for someone else on this board: http://www.warehouse17.com/brinstar.mp3
Is there already a sheet of Nothing Set in Stone, or..?
No, not yet.
Ice: Progress?
Ice,
*rolls eyes at extremely lame joke*
how is progress coming along anyway? Cant wait to see it!
I'm about halfway done ... I may post my progress so far on Friday if I don't have any more done.
-Ice
Are you further, or not, than the sheet Brian made?
A little farther ... I fixed/added a few things also.
Nice. ^_^ At this rate, when do you expect you'll finish?
Hard to say! I'm hoping to get some time on Sunday and might be able to cap it off then. If not then sometime during the next week isn't out of the question.
I'll see what I get done Sunday and post on Monday instead of today.
Awesome. :) I can't wait!
Hey Ice, is there a left hand to the end part? This (http://www.mediafire.com/?bo1zm4yenyx) part.
I just need to know those notes and I can play the entire thing right.
I've got a preliminary version of Nothing Set in Stone for you to download and play around with today. I'm just calling it version 0.2 right now because there's still a few things that I have to smooth out!
http://www.warehouse17.com/nsis_0_2.MUS
Enjoy ... and remember, it's just a rough version =)
Sorry to give you more work, but can you write out the sheets for your "Ballad of the Windfish" piece? I really liked that.
just for the record on the peice "nothing set in stone" there are trills in the third note in measure five, seven, seventeen, and nineteen,
Nice work! I see you changed Brians copy slightly but you didnt change it that much. The new half you did sounded spot-on to me. The first half (the half Brian did as well) sounded different in some areas but maybe thats just because im so used to playing Brians half and listening for it on the actual song.
Im not good at listening to things and then arranging. I wish i could do it but im just not that talented. You need to add the tempos in cos i know for a fact the the second half starts slower than that. I like trills and such so i might actually give yours a go fully (i was going to merge them, Brians first half then your second half but i might change my mind since its not hard to re-learn the first half to your notations).
I know its not finished so im going to wait patiently until it is...HURRY UP! ;D
It probably sounds different from Brian's because when I did the first half, I didn't have his on me so I started from scratch. I also didn't have a copy of Nothing Set in Stone on me so I did it from memory ... for that reason, the area that I call the "solo" ended up differently than it was recorded. I don't know whether to leave the new improv in, or go back and notate it exactly the way it was originally recorded.
I'm also not sure if I should go back and add in tempo marks. It may sound smoother just playing it through with all the same tempo, even though that's not how I recorded it.
I think we're probably going to end up with a couple different versions =) Which is totally ok! Music is something that is very personal, and if you ask me, each pianist that attempts it should add their own little touches to it and make it their own. If you want trills and tempo marks - go for it! It'll sound great. If someone likes the new solo and wants to play it with a steady tempo, go for it, that'll sound great too. If someone wants to change the chord to eminor, and the f chord to a c chord, go for it ... it'll sound pretty good.
Well said, and great job! I really appreciate all of the work that went in to making this. I look forward to seeing this finished!
Hey HugoMeister - I started on the "Ballad of the Windfish" one - no ETA at this time though
Ha ha sweet. Take your time. :D
I put most of the basics of the Windfish arrangement in this file: http://www.warehouse17.com/79-gameover.mus
There's really not much more to it than that - just lots of repeats of those phrases.
Lol I didn't see this! Thanks! Its good enough for me! :P
Hey Ice, is that the final song. Because i really want to learn the rest of the song. If its done, great, but if you're still working on it, hurry up ;).
i just checked rthis thread
dude ur awesome :o :o :o
lol
i cant wait till the final version !!!!!!
I actually... dont see why this is seen as ''amazing'' personally I find Crystal Stars [GCN] from Paper Mario 2 much more amazing...
But its a good song, dont see why people are tryin so hard to arrange this but... Id be happy if Crystal Stars would be done...
Why on earth isnt there a Midi for Crystal Stars ´~`
But good job there, got pretty far, keep it up
I can almost play the entire right hand to NSIS. I feel so proud of myself. ;D
Oh yeah, btw, when is the final version going to be put up? ::)
I can play it...I'm playing it during my School Talent Show!!
Sweet! I almost got to play it for arecital this Thursday...but I couldn't get it down on time. :'(
Oh well. I'm still trying to learn it (I put Ice's and Pearcinator's arrangements together). It's a cool song.
Well, apparently the version you have is abbreviated because I found a longer one.

Also, here's the piece that I was going to play for my Recital (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zvnzmyokmqg).
The recital piece was slightly edited (I took out the long middle part)
my recital went well, by the way.
Note: Near the end, you'll meet a measure that is cut in half. I can't change Time Sigs halfway through the song. (I think it's supposed to be in 3/4 time, and then back to normal somewhere. :-\

No idea. If it is, I don't know about it. :P

Oh my god, i can't believe i forgot this song! Definately one of the best songs in MM!
Agreed.
So, if this is version, 0.2, how is the final copy coming? anyone know at all?
I printed off the draft last night and started to play it. My parents came out of their room and asked what the name was and said it was really cool sounding. My parents are sticklers for good music. Kudos Ice!
No, we don't know how it's coming... As far as I know, no one is working on this song. It's in complete shut-down.
The two parts(Brian's and whoever-elses) can be seen in one of my posts near the bottom of this page... I just put Brian's part first, and then pasted the second part after that...the song sounds complete to me.
i think i'm going to try and play this on violin when i can get it printed out.
i hope someoen is working on a "complete" version however.. i really like the song
Hey guys,
The version I posted IS complete ... as in, it has all the notes. The changes I'm going to make only involves dynamics and the smoothing out of a few passages.
I did make another version recently with a slightly different solo and with a few parts that I thought I was smoothing out at the time, but didn't sound very good to my ear.
Also, glad to hear that some people are enjoying the sheets ... Majora's Mask is full of all kinds of musical gems.

Can you make a new Mp3 link? this one hath expired
Also: Does anyone know exactly what the status of this piece is... related to the game?
what dost thou meanest by thine remark "Status...realted to the game". It doth not comprehend well with mine mind.
By the way (and without the Elizebethian scripting), I want to do a full symphonic arrangement of this, so im gonna attempt it on Notepad, but would much rather to do it on something like '07 or '08 if someone happens to have a safe torrent of it. I'll post it up when i get done.
New MP3 Link (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?3drmimjgafj)
Look at "Stone Tower Temple" in LoZ: Majora's Mask on the site. This song is a remix of that song.
Both are awesome. ::)
True. I find this one so very much better than the original and also more easilly played.
So, i started working on a Symphonic Band version of this (added a little, the entire piano part is still there) But i am not close to being finished yet. I made a MIDI of how it is goin so far (couldn't add in some instruments because im only on Notepad and i haven't finished the parts even up to this part on some of them).

Pretty good Gooch. It really picked up at around 52 seconds. Its a good idea to keep the piano there as it provides the melody while the rest of the accompaniment are use to bring more life into it. Want to see an mp3 version that includes all the instruments.
thanks, i'm a little restricted right now, so it might be awhile until i can pick back up, but i'll post the next section when i can.
anybody have a current working link to the nothing set in stone notes or a copy?
THREE YEAR NECROBUMP
ER... what.
Lol?
Did anyone ever actually finish the transcription of Nothing Set in Stone? I remember we had parts, but did we ever have a complete score for the world to access?
lol i read through the entire thread and it sounded like it was complete but all the mediafire links are dead. :P
Sounds to me like nothing was set in stone.
¬_¬
I've got Brian's half-finished version of this sitting around somewhere, so I started working on where he left off. I'll start back on it in a month when the semester finishes.
If you can find it you should upload it somewhere there are no traces of it ?
Edit: wait is this the version you have?

From memory, I think the one I have is basically the same with a couple of small differences in places.
As for uploading it, that would entail me finding it first... :P I think someone uploaded a picture of the sheet in another request thread about this song, you could go thread digging and find that in the mean time.
Hey guys! What's the progress report on this? I'd love to see a finished sheet.

Fancy colours and everything ;)
Awesome!! This looks really good. Great job, DekuTrombonist, and thanks!
WUT. A POST FROM DEKUDUDE?
WHERE'S THE MUS?!
...no really, where is it?
Omg, I made an account just for this fucking thread. I'm gonna necro the shit out of it.
The creator of this song said on page 4 that their name is Ice, and they went by Second Chance for a short period of time.
They linked a website called warehouse 17 and said that the entire song was basically improv. I need to buy all of their music, but I have been struggling for years trying to find them. This is my only lead. Ice, if you're here, please let everyone know who you are and confirm that you are not dead please! A link to a soundcloud, youtube page, etc. would be AMAZING.
Thanks and sorry again for the necro.
It's 8 years later. A grand total of 1 person who posted on this thread back then is even remotely active. If we lost touch with previous arrangers, how much harder must it be to get in touch with a person who posted on a single thread?

I'm hoping that me sending him/her a PM will notify his/her email. Or maybe this thread updating, if (s)he had subscribed to it, perhaps?
Emails change. I think that might be your biggest obstacle. PMs send email notifications by default maybe. You can check your account to make certain. But if someone's email changed in the past 8 years, as it might very well have, you are probably out of luck.

I'm aware, but the risk vs reward was too high to not try.
