Poll
Question:
Most exciting game announcement?
Option 1: Super Smash Bros.
Option 2: WarioWare Gold
Option 3: Dillon's Dead Heat-Breakers
Option 4: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Adventure
Option 5: Okami
Option 6: Sushi Striker
Option 7: No More Heroes
Option 8: Captain Toad
Option 9: Undertale
Option 10: Crash Bandicoot
Option 11: South Park (really?)
Option 12: Luigi's Mansion
So Smash is obviously amazing, but I figured maybe some other users would like to talk about the other cool things announced (there were a LOT, in my opinion).
Oddly enough, my number one exciting announcement is actually the Luigi's Mansion remake for 3DS. That was the first game I got for GameCube and it's a personal favorite that I haven't touched in several years.
I'm also really pretty hyped for the Captain Toad ports, since that was imo the hands down best game on Wii U. It was one of those that the beginning was kind of iffy, but as you got into the more challenging things it became really fun. As odd as this sounds, I think I'm actually going to opt for the 3DS version rather than the Switch. I really do just enjoy the handheld gaming experience more (Switch is handheld, yes, but it's different).
I of all people am not really hyped for the Bowser's Inside Story remake, honestly. That's mostly because I'm a little irritated that they skipped over Partners in Time, which is really just a fantastic creepy adventure that I feel like even fans of the series overlook. Also, even though Bowser Jr. is one of my favorite characters, the Bowser Jr. mode looks like a rehash of the Bowser's Minions mode from the Superstar Saga remake. That mode wasn't bad exactly, but idk I don't want to play it again just for cute Bowser Jr. scenes. Of course, it won't be released until 2019, so by the time it rolls around I may feel ready, haha.
Also, Undertale on Switch, anyone? Hell yeah!
To be honest, I'm kind of amazed and excited for all this 3DS support this late in the console's lifetime. It's true that it's mainly remakes of other games, but damn they're first party and presumably high quality, right?
Did you really just create a nintendo direct poll and include the shit sushi game over the octo expansion
I listed every new game announcement my dude

Incorrect. You're missing the Splatoon Octo Expansion, which is a newer game than undertale, Luigi's mansion, and South Park, to name a few. And if you're going to say that DLC doesn't count, you left out mario tennis, which isn't dlc.
I think he meant "new for the Switch". And I believe Mario Tennis was announced last year.
^Um, several of those are 3DS games. Also he left out Dark Souls HD. And the Octo expansion is new for switch. It was arguably the second biggest announcement they made, second only to smash, and it's placement in the stream should have tipped that off.
I saw some people arguing that the Undertale port is the biggest announcement, because they would port Game Maker Studio (Undertale's engine) to the switch, and a lot of games that use it could then be ported easily.

Mario Tennis has been announced. I listed every game that was announced for 3DS and Switch that had not previously been announced for those consoles.
...except for Octo Expansion. It hasn't been previously announced.
what kind of poll includes no splatoon news
biased
(sings wearily) "Octo Expansion is not a new gaaaaame it is just DLC"

"This full-on single-player adventure spans 80 missions starring Agent 8, a new character who awakens without her memories on a dark subway platform. Navigate this mysterious underground test facility in a desperate battle to reach the surface of Inkopolis. Escape from these twisted depths, and you'll finally be able to join multiplayer matches as an Octoling!"
More of a game right here than bullshit captain toad.
think of it like this
it mirrors normal splatoon content so well that it basically is a new game
This is like saying shovel knight plague of shadows is not a new game
PS the poll title says "most exciting announcement" not "most exciting arbitrary game I put up" so you should inlude splatoon DLC and Arms open
Not to mention the chosen poll library is mostly ports of older games.
Oh sorry fixed the poll
most exciting game announcement is clearly splatoon octo thing
just like plague of shadows is the most exciting game
like you're forcing the answer to this poll to be smash bros when I'm infinitely more excited to play as agent 8
Poll should read: "Slow's biased opinion on dlc somehow not being 'game-worthy'"
someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed and is really making me feel like shit
the poll is for new games as a fun thing that I almost didn't even doand there is nothing stopping you from posting in the thread about what you're excited about
but whatever I'll just leave this alone for a while so I don't feel so terrible
I gotchu fam: http://forum.ninsheetmusic.org/index.php?topic=9904.0
lol how on earth did this thread turn into Olimar's Salty Splatoon Crusade, chill out bro
Also, SMASH HYPE
It happened when an "oh shit sorry bro, I'll add that in" was replaced with a "fancy new dlc isn't worth this poll but here's another cookie-cutter captain toad clone along with more games you've already played."

I mean, you just seem really dismissive about everything else that got announced in favor of the Splatoon DLC. It's exciting, I get it, I'm also excited about playable Octolings and that giant single-player expansion, but I'm
also excited that some really incredible games that didn't get a whole lot of life on the WiiU (including Captain Toad, which I've always wanted to play) are getting ports or remasters or sequels on the Switch (and the 3DS). Could you possibly show excitement for Splatoon
without shitting on the other stuff? That would be nice.

sorry I can't because it isn't in the poll

Also Okami touch painting controls yes!
I'm just glad I get to play as Gooey in Star Allies. Alti, where you at?
Not having a Switch so not caring about most of this yet lol

wait
did olimar really create another topic
wow
Btw sushi striker was announced at E3 last year, making it not a new game.
And DLC isn't a game, Olimar
Depends on what your definition of a "game" is. Dlc can sometimes encompass a new gaming experience, such as how octo expansion is its own game mode and story etc, while sometimes dlc can be less, such as added in-game items or features. This case is definitely the former.
It may be a new gaming experience, but it's an expansion pack, not a standalone game. Unless you can play it without already owning a previously released game, it's nothing more than new content.
It in and of itself is a game. What you need to play the game is an irrelevant point to make, because all video games have some sort or requirement to play. You must own the console, have controllers, etc. Just because you have to buy the rest of the game to activate it doesn't disqualify the experience of an expansion game as a game itself. If anything, it's better than having to buy a second cart and pay more for either a physical release or a digital sale that would have to include more of the original game.
I once again bring up the shovel knight point
Yeah, but equipment costs are not equivalent, it's like saying you need to buy a car in order to drive it, or have a phone to make a phone call. Like, of course you need the console to play video games. The thing is with this you're essentially spending $80 to play it, when if was a standalone product you'd only spend $20, maybe $30.
You're missing my point pretty hard there. Requirements to get the game running do not add value or devalue the content of the game itself. Octo Expansion still will include its own extremely extensive story mode that is separate from the current splatoon 2 gameplay. Yes you need to own Splatoon 2 to own it (just like you would need to own the console to boot it) but it stands as it's own game.
is minecraft a game
I mean, it's more like something that lets you play other games isn't it
luigi's balloon world is my favourite game
^still better than captain toad
what
also rude
Sorry, I just really, really don't like Captain Toad.
I like Captain Toad :(

Can we actually talk about the Direct now

I agree with all of this; though I loved the SS remake, them waiting so short just to skip over a game has me skeptical. I'll still give it a try, though.
