My friend told me they're making a Mario movie. I also heard that Universal might be making a Mario-themed section. Anyone know about this?
The bar's set pretty low from their previous attempt in the 90s. Not much has been confirmed about this though.
I've heard about this, too; not sure what to expect, though.
I've learned that video games and movies don't mix...or shouldn't mix at least.

There is no amount of correctness greater than this.
The Mario movie was confirmed a while back, and is being produced by Illumination Entertainment (http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/02/mario_is_heading_to_the_silver_screen_with_help_from_the_studio_behind_minions). You know, the Despicable Me guys? And yeah, the Nintendo/Universal Studios thing has been confirmed for a while now. (another article, if you're interested) (http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/02/miyamoto_explains_why_illumination_was_chosen_for_the_upcoming_mario_movie)
Personally, I don't think it'll be bad, but I doubt it'll be all that great, either. I think it'll play things pretty safe.
Time Link could've just Googled that to get the same information, but I guess I appreciate that he felt the need to consult the NSM community. :P
Hey guys, thanks for the information. I just wanted to get some backup from the pros, y'know? Anyway, if the movie's being done by Illumination Entertainment, those guys are probably just going to goon up all the characters and the like.

Yeahhhh I'm interested to know how badly they'll mess it up. Slightly unrelated, but one of the composers for To The Moon has confirmed a film adaptation:
What's "To The Moon" about? Let me guess, does it have something to do with astronauts or space? For some reason, the clip you posted wasn't playing.
It has little to do with them, despite that being a central point of the plot iirc.
Yeah. Basic overview is that this dude is dying, two pseudoscientists use fancy fictional brain technology to delve into his past memories, figure out his greatest wish, and let him "live" that wish before he dies.
Thanks for the info. Sounds like it might be an interesting movie. By the way, does anyone know if there's a release date for the Mario movie?
No, I don't think one has been confirmed yet; all we have is a confirmation that it's being worked on.
Thanks. Btw, I love your saying, "Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience."
Thanks! It's a Mark Twain quote.
My hopes for this movie are 50/50. I like the idea of seeing Mario (thankfully cgi this time) on the big screen, but as far as I've heard Wreck-It Ralph is the only "video game" movie to do well, and except for some character cameos, the games in that movie were created for that movie.
If Illumination is making it, I'm sure it won't be too bad, but I doubt it will be great.
The best video game movies tend to be anime, like in the case of Professor Layton and Persona 3.
Of course, Pokemon reigns as "Most Popular" video game show.
Has anyone else heard about this new "Sonic Movie?"
The one where Jim Carrey is voicing Dr. Eggman/Robotnik? Yeah.
Do we have any idea of when it's coming out?

Huh; did not know about this. I checked the IMDb page and said "Woah! James Marsters is gonna be in this!?" But then I realize it was James
Marsden. :P
I first found out about this when I went to Subway and saw the little toys they give out. I was thinking "Why are they making Sonic toys now?" Later, my friend told me that this Sonic Movie was coming out.
