Title: NinSheet Community Trivia!
Post by: Time Link on July 15, 2018, 02:52:36 PM
Hello all,
I liked Levi's Snippets of Game Trivia, so I asked him if I could do something like that, too. He said it was alright, so I thought I would start a community trivia thing. If you come up with some interesting game information, put it here. I hope you all enjoy!

Okay, here's some Zelda stuff that I found interesting:

1. Shigeru Miyamoto has said that he borrowed Zelda's name from the wife of the author F. Scott Fitzgerald, Zelda Fitzgerald.
(Why her, though)?

2. The first Zelda game was planned to use Maurice Ravel's Bolero, but since it was not yet a public piece of music, Koji Kondo composed original music for the game. (Koji's composition sounds better than Ravel's).

3. In every Zelda game, Link has used the Master Sword and the Hylian Shield. (Link's protection of choice).

uh

Also they kept the drumbeat and tempo of the bolero, fun fact. (It was on the title screen)

Here's a quick fact: Dance Dance Mario Dance Revolution was the only Mario dance game ever.

And the most significant role Waluigi (the antagonist) has ever had, which isn't saying much.

Two quick facts:

1. Wario first made his appearance in Wario's Woods, a NES game.

2. Waluigi wasn't even created by Nintendo. (They only had him made so that Wario would have a partner in Mario Tennis).

Not sure where you're getting your facts from, but neither the master sword nor the Hylian Shield are usable in Majora's Mask.

Also Wario’s first appearance was definitely Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

Well, for the Majora's Mask thing, Isn't the shield that you start with the Hylian shield? It just looks like a different variation of symbols. And as for the Master Sword, when you get the Fierce Deity Mask, the sword that you get is like the Master Sword (i.e. it shoots lasers). I know it's not that in every game, but that's kind of what it's known for.

About that.... you definitely have a point there about Wario having a role in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. But he was first created for Wario's Woods as you see him on the front cover.

Wario Land also came out before Wario's Woods and Wario is literally the main character in that game.

I looked it up and Wario's first appearance was definitely Super Mario Land 2. He was originally created to be an archnemesis of Mario, but ending up getting his own spinoff series (Wario Land) which then ended sprouting a completely different spinoff series (WarioWare). Wario's Woods came out sometime after Super Mario Land 2 and they decided to reuse Wario for the game, but he was not created for it.

EDIT: Looked it up again and found that Wario's Woods came out two years after Super Mario Land 2. Super Mario Land 2 being 1992 and Wario's Woods being 1994.

Time Link probably concluded that since Wario was in an NES game, it was his first appearance, but failed to notice that the game had an upgraded port on the SNES, or to find out that Wario's Woods was among the very last North American NES releases; it entered the market in 1994, 3 years after the launch of the SNES.

Funny enough, Wario isn’t even the main character of Wario’s Woods; he’s the antagonist. You actually play as Toad throughout the game. Hell, Wario gets about as much screen time as Birdo, sans a few cutscenes.

Some actual trivia:

The PC version of Arkham Asylum includes some code that means if you play a pirated copy of the game the bat glider doesn't work correctly and as such you cannot escape a poison gas trap part way through the game, effectively ending your playthrough.

I did consider posting something blatantly untrue, but I thought that would be a bit harsh.

Fun fact: Link's original name was Fred, but Reggie Miyamoto had it changed to avoid putting his mother's name in the game.

Okay guys, sorry I made that mistake. It's just that you don't know what's really true from what you here, huh? Anyway, Reggie Miyamoto... that's hilarious. That is so fake and everyone knows it unless..... is he really Miyamoto's son?

Also, one more thing. Libera, I was wondering if you are British or Australian because in the Octopath Travelers update you spelled  the word "realize" like "realise."

Also, I think you'll find I spelled the word 'realise' like 'realise'.

I'm sorry if I weirded you out, Libera. I live in the U.S.A. and read a lot of Roald Dahl as a kid so I assumed since you used the English spelling that you were English. (Your Discord tag gives it away though). :D

E. Gadd Industries lives in and is from Kentucky, but he spells words the European way. I also pronounce data the Australian way, yet I'm from Rhode Island.

We should turn this into a thing where one person says something completely false, and everyone else counters it with related, true trivia from reliable sources.

That’s the Hero’s Shield and it has a different (though similar) design. That sword is officially called the Fierce Deity Sword and it does not look like the Master Sword (also, the Master Sword only shoots beams in some of the 2D Zeldas).

Yeah, that's a great idea! And you're right, Slow Pokemon. I didn't realize that until now. Anyway, here's that is definitely true:

1. Oracle of Ages and Seasons were the first Zelda game not made by Nintendo. It was closely overseen by Nintendo, but the work was done by a studio called Flagship, which is part of Capcom.

2. When Twilight Princess came out, there were rumors that grown men cried at the press conference where the game's first footage was shown.

3. After Twilight Princess came out in 2006, a number of handheld Zelda games were released, and it wasn't until 2011 that another console Zelda game was released, Skyward Sword.

Serious advice for Time Link: google your theories before posting them. The gif I posted comes from one of three Zelda games that Nintendo did not create, all of which came out years before the oracles.

Here's something cool: The original mascot for Pokemon used be Clefairy, but after Nintendo changed it to Pikachu, they tripled their income from the Pokemon industry.

Seems to be a spoof of his "proper" identity, T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas, labeled in the 1993 Nintendo Character Guide. Though, if you're looking for canonicity, don't look for it here.
