Hey, welcome to NinSheetMusic! Let me be the first to say "well done!" on your first sheet. You clearly have the basic formatting and engraving aspect down. The only recommendations I have would be to move the "mf" up a little so it's not colliding with the notes. Also, maybe move the copyright info and arranger/composer names down a bit. A haven't compared it to the original yet, but you seem to have a wonderful start! Can't wait to see more : )

Also, since you seem to have a good understanding of the guidelines, don't hesitate to submit this one (You can do this by going to the NSM Panel tab).

Thanks to both of you for the feedback! I've moved the elements you suggested, Sebastian.

Although this is my first piano arrangement I have done a fair bit of arranging for various ensembles, including an orchestration course with a prof who was very strict about notation and engraving. The music on this site has been very helpful to me through the years so I'm happy to contribute if I can!

EDIT: Just wanted to add recordings of the first two songs I arranged so here they are!

Awesome! Yeah, arranging orchestrations and ensembles is much more complex than arranging for piano, so I definitely see where you got your skill. : )

Two new arrangements from two new games, including my first non-Harvest Moon arrangement! (Though it's not far off...)

Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town - Summer
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/iv10o3eqyz6bcyt/GBA_FoMT_Summer.musx?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/eepolr4k420pg8a/GBA_FoMT_Summer.mus?dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/7x2ijlfmwkwlr26/GBA_FoMT_Summer.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/p8xwqfe505kshcz/GBA_FoMT_Summer.mid?dl=0)

Like most of this soundtrack, this is actually a song from an earlier game in the series (Harvest Moon: Back to Nature) but it's been re-arranged for the GBA's sound capabilities. For that reason, I credited both the original composer and the composer/sound designer from Friends of Mineral Town since I'm guessing they were the one to do this arrangement. (Let me know if that was the right thing to do!) This one might be a little tricky to play because of the repeated accompaniment in the B section... I'm open to suggestions on that!

Stardew Valley - Piano Solo (Elliott's Theme)
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/9mhpx8kb8dnl1oz/MUL_SDV_Elliott%27s_Theme.musx?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/byzz4d5p9wwj02i/MUL_SDV_Elliott%27s_Theme.mus?dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/o4419vazaftr6zs/MUL_SDV_Elliott%27s_Theme.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/o4419vazaftr6zs/MUL_SDV_Elliott%27s_Theme.pdf?dl=0)

I was pretty surprised there weren't any Stardew Valley sheets on-site so this is my first contribution to that! I tried to keep it as faithful to the original as possible so let me know if there are any added or missing notes. Also, I would love some feedback from a piano player on some of the stylistic things in there (grace notes, pedal markings, etc.) and whether I notated those correctly. Are there any places I should add slurs?

Feedback is welcome!

And another new series!

Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Unite! - Acorn Shrine
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/swfjb53e9hg01j3/GBC_Ham-Hams_Acorn_Shrine.musx?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/aqm6v1fh3ue4j94/GBC_Ham-Hams_Acorn_Shrine.mus?dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/btf89tj1kdafv7y/GBC_Ham-Hams_Acorn_Shrine.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/1h0pp286o43vaeh/GBC_Ham-Hams_Acorn_Shrine.mid?dl=0)

This one was pretty straightforward, just something simple I did to work on my ear. I didn't have any issues with it but as always, if something is a bit off feel free to point it out!

I just had a look at your Stardew Valley sheet and it looks pretty good, just a few comments from me about things that I noticed.

-The E in the LH of bar 9 is actually an A I think.
-I was going to make a bunch of comments about the spacing of articulations but then I remembered that you're using v26 so that's why they're out of whack.  We can always fix that later if you submit this.
-Personally I'd have the slurs on the graces always above the notes (that way they are oriented correctly for the main note rather than for the small note.)
-You could hide the pedal markings after the first two bars, say, and write 'simile' in the interest of saving space, but up to you.
-The margins a bit wonky: you want to have 0.5 for the top, bottom and right margins and then something a bit larger for the left margin (in the interest of hole-punching etc.).  I usually go with
0.75ish but the exact value isn't exactly important.
-I think it might look a bit nicer if you made more use of the page by going to four systems rather than two.  I tried 2-3-3-2 (with the pickup not counted) and that looked pretty good to me.

Thanks for sharing, it's a nice little piece!

Hey thanks for checking it out! I'll definitely fix those formatting things when I get the chance!

I think I've heard about the v26 articulation spacing before but I'm not familiar enough with Finale to recognize it, is there any way to work around that on my end? I do usually import from an XML and clean it up myself if that makes a difference, maybe something is going wonky in the transition?

Thanks for the feedback, it's helpful as always!! :)

v26 has it's own special articulation placement scheme that corrupts when opened in previous versions of finale.  It's a massive pain to fix manually, but luckily people who have v25 (like myself) can fix it very quickly using the 'remove manual adjustments' which brings all the articulations back to their original positions.  It's not exactly perfect, but I'm more than happy to do it for anyone who submits using v26.  Though since it'll get corrupted every time you make an edit to the file, there's no point me doing it until the very final step of the process.

Bravely Default - Beneath The Hollow Moon

I've been playing this game on and off for over a year now and I fell in love with this song when I heard it in a cutscene about a week ago (though I'm not sure if it was the first time I heard it or just the first time I noticed it). It also stood out to me as being potentially simple enough for me to transcribe which I'm pretty proud of because not too long ago this would have seemed like an impossible task. That being said there were still a couple of parts I wasn't too sure on (especially the 8 bars leading up to the repeat) so any corrections are welcome!

Harvest Moon - Winter

I'm returning to the roots of my favourite series with this seasonally-inappropriate theme from the original Harvest Moon! It actually shares a lot of similarities with the winter theme from the later Harvest Moon 64, such as the waltz accompaniment and the key (A minor). I decided to leave out the bass voice in the A section because it was very difficult to play, and made it seem particularly cluttered compared to the more sparse B section. If anyone has suggestions on how to incorporate it somehow I'm open to hearing them, but I think it works just fine without it.

This was actually one of the first arrangements I started, but I've held off on posting it until now because it needs some work still. I'm mostly unsure about the pitches used in the rolled chords, so please feel free to point out if you're hearing something else there! I also wasn't sure how to incorporate the pizzicato strings on the second repeat of the original, so there is currently no difference between the two repetitions according to the sheet. I would love to polish this one up since it's a lot of fun to play, so please feel free to offer feedback! (Oh and sorry to list so many composers - I really did look for more specific soundtrack credits but there weren't any I could find for this game.)

EDIT: New video because the old one got taken down; this is from the "Cute" version of the game but they are essentially the same game, soundtrack included.

What a sweet piece to arrange, it does look like it's fun to play. :) Just thought I'd drop by to help with a couple of your queries:

• I think it would be worth including the change in accompaniment that occurs in the second repeat. Removing the repeats, adding more measures, copying over the right hand melody and changing the left hand to play staccato quarter notes/chords on each beat should do the trick.
• The bottom note in the first 4 rolled chords sounds like an A. More often than not, chords form a simple triad, so if the chord sounds pretty normal (ie. there's no dissonance) then checking if it contains a root, a 3rd and a 5th of a key is a sure way to spot any missed notes. Also, I believe there should be an A in the rolled chords on bars 10 & 12.

That's all I had for now - good luck with the rest of the polish, I'm sure it will come out splendidly.

Thanks so much for the feedback, this will be very helpful!! I hadn't thought to totally change the left hand for the second repeat so I'll see what I can do with that. Might take some time to work it out but I'll post here when it's updated. :)

I'm pretty hyped for the upcoming remake of this game so I'm working on a few arrangements from it in the meantime! And with fall just around the corner, this seemed like the perfect song to tackle next. This one was a little challenging arrangement-wise, but the only part I'm unsure about the notes is the left-hand chords in the last 8 bars before the D.S. I also decided to use octaves for the melody echo to emulate the stereo separation in the original mix.

Happy October! I put together this arrangement partly for the Halloween update, but also because I think it's one of the most interesting songs in the game. The instrumentation is pretty unique, and there were definitely some parts that were a challenge to adapt to piano but I've tried my best to reflect the sound of the original as much as possible. There might be some missing harmonies in the intro because I couldn't quite pick those out.

Here's a collection of the four puzzle themes from Nintendo's video board game, Anticipation! These are all short, non-looping themes that play when you're solving the appropriate colour of puzzle, and they all have a similar bluesy sound to them. I think they adapted really nicely to the piano so I don't have too much to say about the arrangement itself. Fun fact: the soundtrack to this game was composed by David Wise as he was the only composer employed at Rare during the time this game was developed! (I unironically love playing this game with my friends send help.)

This piece was pretty easy arrangement-wise, but I did run into a few other issues while working on it. First of all, I have exhausted every resource I know of and haven't been able to find the composer for this game listed anywhere, not even the in-game credits. Also, the track for this song is mislabeled as "Winter" in the linked OST, but it is definitely the Spring theme as heard in this let's play (https://youtu.be/ufKRxfeSxsI). As for the arrangement itself, I switched some octaves in the accompaniment to make it more idiomatic of a ragtime piano piece, as that's the style this composition seems to be emulating. I'm not sure about a few of the left hand dyads (particularly in bars 3-4 and the last 4 bars), as well as the chords in the last 2 measures, so let me know if there's anything weird there!

(The composer currently listed is Tsuyoshi Tanaka, which is an educated guess based on the preceding games in the series. I have been unable to find conclusive proof of his involvement, however.)

This is one of my favourite songs from this game and has been perpetually stuck in my head since I was about 9 years old. The formatting on this is a little messy since it's my first time trying to add a percussion part, so it probably needs some work in that department. The stomping rhythm in the second half might be a little unwieldy, so I'm open to simplifying that if necessary.

This is a very special arrangement because it's my first collaborative arrangement! It was quite an experience getting this put together and neither of us could have done it alone, so a huge thanks to my good friend (and fellow Persona fan) Samusthedude, who has had as much of a hand in this project as I have. There are probably some issues because it was a challenging venture for both of us, but any feedback can be left in the submission topic (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/index.php?topic=11076.0). Hope you enjoy this arrangement of a classic Persona song!

RollerCoaster Tycooon - Title Theme

This sheet marks an important milestone for me: it's the first arrangement I've created from scratch in Finale instead of importing from a MuseScore XML! I had already partially transcribed this song for an orchestral arrangement I was doing a while back and I figured it was the perfect one to try from scratch since I had a lot of the notes already. Well, when I went to do it I found out that not only had I missed a lot of parts the first time, but some of the notes I had were flat-out wrong! So it ended up being a fair bit of work but it's good to see that my ear has improved since the last time I attempted this song.

RollerCoaster Tycoon was a staple of my childhood, not the least because my siblings and I spent an entire summer playing it when we had chicken pox and weren't allowed to play with the other kids on our street. This title theme is probably the most recognizable piece from the game, and it remains one of my favourite pieces of video game music to this day. There was a point where I nearly gave up including the French horn line in the third section, which would have been a shame as it's a great melody, but with a few compromises I was able to fit it in. I've tried to write out the articulations and dynamics from the original as meticulously as possible, and because of that I think this may be my most polished sheet yet. All the same, let me know if you see anything I missed!

I should mention that the note about skipping to m. 52 is because there is an extra section that is added to the theme if you have the expansion packs for the game. Skipping to m. 52 preserves the original loop while continuing on follows the extended version.

Ahh I'm so glad to see someone do this! Roller Coaster Tycoon was also a huge part of my childhood. I had so much fun building parks and designing custom roller coasters! Unfortunately all my old files are gone... :(

Just a few thoughts as I take a quick look! (This has actually been on my to-do pile for a very long time and I've written out just a bit of it haha)
- I think the dotted 8th + 16th rhythm in m. 2/6 is just two eighth notes
- The B in m. 4 is natural (very important!)
- I imagined the first section working better with the RH layers swapped (i.e. the one you have on the bottom is what I think of as the main melody and would prefer on top). Would have to play around with it more to compare with what you have, though
- I really like how you wrote out the middle section :D
- The way you wrote out the third section is interesting! I hadn't thought about doing it like that. The large intervals look like they could be troublesome sometimes when trying to articulate the melody, but maybe it works really nice haha, I'll have to try it

Again, super happy you did this one :D

Thanks for taking a look at it! I went back to take a look at some of the things you suggested and here's what I changed.

- Fixed the B natural (oops!) but I'm still hearing the m. 2/6 rhythm you mentioned as dotted 8th + 16th. Maybe I'm wrong but it sounds a little too off-centre to be two eighth notes?
- For the first part, I totally agree that the main melody is the bottom layer but had written it like that to keep the melodies in the original octaves. I tried flipping the top voice down an octave to put it below the main melody and it actually worked really well, however, so I went ahead and did that. This let me add the first four bars of the second melody (now measures 9-12), which I had left out because it clashed too much with the main melody in the original octave but works alright down the octave.
- The third part was definitely a challenge, I thought about it a lot because I wasn't sure how to fit everything in! I thought I had play-tested it but when I went back there were definitely a couple of places where the intervals were unwieldy, so I made some edits there. I think I ended up with more complete chords this way anyways, rather than doubling one of the melody notes an octave down.
- Because I added four bars in the intro and took out the repeat, I couldn't get it to fit on three pages without it looking cramped. So I respaced so there wouldn't be only one stave on the fourth page, which gave everything a little more room.

Another food-themed sheet, and another opportunity to sneak in a sheet from my favourite series. I've never actually played this entry, but the entire soundtrack is quite beautiful. This one is a fun little tune that plays when you're cooking recipes in the game. It's sometimes titled "Master Chef" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ox2qjENZiA0) in YouTube OSTs, but as I couldn't find any official source to back this up I went with the more descriptive title of "Cooking".

Finding the composer for this track gave me a bit of trouble (as is often the case for this series). The closest thing I could find was someone with the title "Sound Artist" as can be seen in the end credits (https://youtu.be/4mgy8pJPSGQ?t=256), so I hope that's close enough. Not sure what role the people from "Delfi Sound Inc." who are listed directly after played, but "Sound Artist" seemed like the most important title so I went with that.

There are a lot of food-inspired titles in the Stardew Valley OST so it would be a shame if I didn't tackle at least one of them for this update. I find that this OST always presents an interesting arranging challenge due to the unique instrumentation, as well as the use of reverb and delay effects. This song is the theme for one of my favourite characters from the game and plays during one of his heart events. Hope you enjoy!

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life - Quiet Winter (Song of Silence)
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/twcz6b68u5lov25/GCN_AWL_Quiet_Winter.musx?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/t33ss896zei0soc/GCN_AWL_Quiet_Winter.mus?dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/1hqmp6avvptzkpq/GCN_AWL_Quiet_Winter.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/9db3z20ep5wece6/GCN_AWL_Quiet_Winter.midi?dl=0)

A Wonderful Life is the only game in the entire Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons series that doesn't have separate seasonal themes for each season. Instead you have a record player on your farm which you can use to play several unlockable records, most of which are arrangements of songs from past games. This song is one of the two records you start the game with, however, and is original to this game. It's official English title as stated in-game is "Quiet Winter", but it is also commonly known by the translated Japanese title (https://vgmdb.net/album/2762), "Song of Silence".

This arrangement is in decent shape (it sounds like the song at least), but it still feels like there are some missing harmonies that I'm struggling to pick out. Also, there's some pretty confusing instances of voice crossing in the right hand that could maybe be cleaned up, but I'm not sure how to do that while keeping the original melodic contours intact. Any feedback on these points (or anything else you see) would be greatly appreciated!

A case could also be made for this song being in 6/8, but there were some instances in the melody that leaned very strongly towards 3/4 (the eighth note triplets for example) so that's what I went with. Though the bassline could easily be 6/8 in the second half, I'm hearing it as more of a syncopated pattern. In case like this where it's kind of ambiguous I prefer to go with 3/4 anyways because it's easier to represent typical 6/8 rhythms in 3/4 than vice versa.

And this marks the milestone of my 20th arrangement here on NinSheetMusic! With it, I've returned to the game that got me started arranging with a longer and more challenging sheet that I could only dream of attempting before starting this arranging journey almost a year ago.

Whenever I hear this track, I can so clearly picture the iconic title screen of this game with the awkwardly worded "Push the Start" and the typo in the publisher's name. It's actually a pretty neat composition, with the repeating bass vamp and the flute solo that sounds like it could be improvised. The translation to piano was a little awkward for this one, as some parts of it were quite dense, but I hope it came out alright in the end. I think something's off with the grace notes formatting-wise but I'm not really sure how to fix them, so please let me know if you have any suggestions!

It's not looking like spring anytime soon here, but I thought I'd tackle this one up anyways. This arrangement was started very early in my arranging days, but I only got around to finishing it now. It's pretty simple, with the main flute melody over pizzicato strings, but I like the way that other little melodies come in to fill the spaces at the end of the main melody's phrases. Edit: Since I accidentally made this post while browsing on mobile, I thought I'd take the opportunity to say that I have updated the files for my two latest arrangements (Harvest Moon 64 - Title Screen and Harvest Moon DS - Spring) with some quick note fixes and formatting edits. Let me know if anything else in those two arrangements need fixing!

REMAKE HYPE!

It's been a little while since I've done anything new. This one wasn't too difficult to transcribe, but it was a little tricky to adapt to piano. I had to make some compromises with the counter-melody especially, and there's some annoying voice crossing that makes some parts difficult to read (any suggestions?).

Nice! This doesn't really help with the small intervals that are created between layers, but when there are triplets and swung eighths being played together, the spacing for the swung eighths should be adjusted so that it's clear the swung eighth coincides with the third triplet (not floating in the middle).

Oops I saw this earlier but forgot to reply. I've never heard of that before, and I'm pretty sure I've seen published arrangements that don't do that; however, it makes a lot of sense since it would make it more clear where the swung eighth notes line up. How does one do this in Finale? I have another sheet that would probably benefit from this as well...

Thanks for taking a look! :)

Take it with a grain of salt - that's just what makes the most sense to me ^^ You can change the horizontal positions of notes under Special Tools > Note Position Tool (the first one).

I did some digging and still couldn't find any examples of this, so I asked some more knowledgeable people than I (a jazz pianist and a jazz drummer) and neither of them had seen notation like that in swing before. It'd probably be pretty clear even if it's not standard practice, though, so I wouldn't say it's necessarily wrong to write it like that. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that swing feel isn't strictly a triplet subdivision and can change depending on context (tempo, style, time period)? That's just me hypothesizing though, I really have no idea lol. Anyways I'm always open to hearing other opinions so thanks for pointing that out regardless!

I decided to finish an old attempt at one of my favourite tracks in the Harvest Moon 64 soundtrack! This one plays near the Harvest Goddess's spring hidden in the forest and I used to go there when I was a kid just to listen to it. It turned out to be a little tricky to adapt to piano, and I'm not totally happy with it yet, but this is what I have. As always, suggestions on how to improve it are welcome!

(Also yikes, it's been over a month since I posted my last arrangement! I'm going to try to spend more time arranging than I have been.)

I've been meaning to do this track for a while, and decided it would be a fairly easy one to tackle today. This is the theme that plays on the name entry screen for new animals, as well as at the very beginning of the game when you name yourself and your farm. It's also an arrangement of the Spring theme from the same game (aka my first-ever arrangement), which I think is neat because it brings to mind the "new beginnings" vibe that's usually associated with spring.

I finished this game for the first time a few weeks ago (loved it by the way), and haven't stopped listening to the OST since. The opening fanfare of this track in particular grabbed my attention as a trumpet player. It was a bit of a challenge to arrange, but it actually went a lot smoother than I expected. That said, there's probably some improvements that could be made. (Note: this track doesn't loop in-game, since it's from a cutscene; instead there's a repeat and fade-out on the last 4 bars.)

This is one of the new tracks that was composed for the Friends of Mineral Town remake, and plays on weekends and festival days as an alternative to the original fall theme. Interestingly enough, the localization team went with "Autumn" this time around instead of the usual "Fall" for the in-game calendar, so I've titled this track accordingly.

More Persona 5! This is the theme for one of the item shops in the game. The organ solo from m. 25-40 was a pain to write out, and is probably also a pain to play so I included an optional ad lib in case someone would rather improvise their own solo (I know I would). There's also quite possibly some transcription mistakes in that solo, so let me know if anyone catches any!

This is one of my favourite dungeon themes from Persona 4, and you can probably guess what the theme of the dungeon is based on the track alone. I think it turned out pretty good, though I'm still not sure about the chords at the end. Hope you enjoy!

Innocent Life is an extremely underrated spinoff in the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons series. Featuring a science fiction setting, an android protagonist, and all kinds of neat farming gadgets, it's a shame that this spinoff didn't grow into its own series like the more popular Rune Factory. This is the track that plays outdoors on your farm, otherwise known as the Easter Ruins, and it's quite a beautiful piece. Hope you enjoy!

Happy 25th anniversary to the Story of Seasons series! I worked on a collaborative arrangement (https://youtu.be/d6-wWCFjo5w) of this theme with some other fans of the series in celebration so I decided to do a piano arrangement as well. One thing to note, there are some really dissonant notes at the end of the loop so I used a combination of guesswork and cross-referencing with the Gameboy arrangement of the same track (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5vkRwmoUtQ) to nail down those pitches.

First arrangement of 2022! I fell back into Fire Emblem Heroes for the 5th anniversary event (five years, wow!) and remembered how much I love this theme. It was pretty challenging to arrange, but I'm happy with how it turned out. There are a few chords in the left hand that I'm not sure about, though, especially around m. 17-20/42-45 and 25-29/50-54. I also wasn't sure what key signature to use so if anyone figures that out feel free to let me know.

Two arrangements from some of my childhood games today!

I used to play this game all the time with my brother, each of us controlling one side of the flippers. This was our favourite table from the game. There are a few tracks in the linked video; this arrangement is the first one. It plays before starting a game, aka the music that would play while the table was idle if it were a real pinball table. (The original panning of the Amiga sound channels is preserved in the video below, check out this one (https://youtu.be/vgr2OhzQAKw) for an equalized version if preferred.)

Snowboard Kids - Rookie Mountain/Ninja Land
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/g7r3uochx5rists/SBK_Rookie_Mountain.musx?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/56cci6w2imnu5ug/SBK_Rookie_Mountain.mus?dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/c2z6dhaonhppkgb/SBK_Rookie_Mountain.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ugp6j82b52c79lh/SBK_Rookie_Mountain.mid?dl=0)

This is yet another game that I played with my siblings when we were young. The soundtrack for this game has always stuck with me, with its soaring melodies over driving rhythmic accompaniment. This track in particular is one of my favourites, and I actually started it all the way back when I was still going to school in person (which feels like forever ago now).

These are my two sheets for the Space Travel project, as well as one unrelated arrangement I finished up today.

Tetris (GB) - Rocket Launch (Ending)
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/3u2z44yq4akckrh/Tetris_GB_Rocket_Launch.musx?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/js8py4tn25ntyl1/Tetris_GB_Rocket_Launch.mus?dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/mpod3ryu5xowz18/Tetris_GB_Rocket_Launch.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/waei6guz1jdnqmv/Tetris_GB_Rocket_Launch.mid?dl=0)

Super short track that plays during the rocket launch cutscenes that occur after scoring a high enough score.

Persona 5 - Star Forneus
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/plm9yuu4ygz27ow/P5_Star_Forneus.musx?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/3jvdcnr7lit0sz7/P5_Star_Forneus.mus?dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/fklyt3ed2es1asq/P5_Star_Forneus.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/4zojfa444qj4uaq/P5_Star_Forneus.mid?dl=0)

This track is from one of the retro-styled minigames that can be played on the console in the protagonist's bedroom, in this case some kind of spaceship shooter. Each of these minigames has its own unique chiptune theme, which is a really nice touch.

Harvest Moon 2 GBC - Winter
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/n9umy1k7112w65h/HMGBC2_Winter.musx?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/aqhq7lm6jt4j6rk/HMGBC2_Winter.mus?dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/6ukn2b8s5fdey5j/HMGBC2_Winter.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/5rbvhutz23dp8pq/HMGBC2_Winter.mid?dl=0)

This is an arrangement that's been in the works for a long time, but I was having a lot of trouble hearing the middle channel and ended up shelving it for a while. Thanks to Atcero's lovely tutorial (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/index.php?topic=12269.0) on channel splitting, I was now able to finish it! My previous arrangement for this game listed the composer as Tsuyoshi Tanaka, but after more research I'm still unable to confirm this - which is odd since he was clearly credited for the previous games in the series. I'm not sure if I want to continue crediting him and potentially spread false information, so I haven't put a composer for this one yet.

(Collaboration with Samusthedude)

The Rune Factory series originally started as a Harvest Moon spin-off with the subtitle "A Fantasy Harvest Moon". It combines the farming and social sim elements of Harvest Moon with a fantasy RPG world and story. My friend Samusthedude and I have both been playing Rune Factory 4S, so we decided to arrange this track from the haunted house dungeon for this year's Halloween project.

Tomodachi Life - Letter

Tomodachi Life is the second-most played game on my 3DS, and it holds a very special place in my heart. I used to play it a ton in high school and I still pull it out occasionally to see how my Miis are doing. I saw a request for this lovely track and ended up arranging it. Hope you enjoy!

First arrangement of 2023! I actually started this last year and did the bulk of the work then, but I finally finished it up now. I remember watching the Nintendo Week segments on this game when I was a kid and eagerly anticipating the release, and I greatly enjoyed playing it when it came out. The OST is also really beautifully orchestrated, and hearing this song again I had to arrange it.

Post by: Code_Name_Geek on February 04, 2023, 08:48:46 PM
Big project announcement time! I've been working on finishing up the rest of the Tetris (GB) tracks that are missing from the main site, which mostly include some fanfares and lesser-known multiplayer tracks. The arrangements themselves are mostly done but I'm still working on formatting the medleys and confirming song titles (mainly the 2-player tracks, since I have to wait for a friend with a Gameboy and Tetris to come test those ones with me). I've learned some interesting facts about this soundtrack while working on this, though, which I'll elaborate on below. (I'll also put the videos for the last three sheets in spoilers since there are multiple per arrangement and this post is already going to be lengthy.)

Tetris (GB) - 2 Player Danger (Toréador Song)
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/8cr95ixcon1jodd/Tetris_GB_2P_Danger.musx?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/wbnjry00uuwe0x9/Tetris_GB_2P_Danger.mus?dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/u1clvey6xnjavd3/Tetris_GB_2P_Danger.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/6anpay8j15p9k8j/Tetris_GB_2P_Danger.mid?dl=0)

This is an arrangement of Toréador Song (https://youtu.be/4DNGMoMNLRY) from Georges Bizet's opera, Carmen. It plays during 2-player matches when the blocks get close to the top of the screen. This arrangement of it incredibly fast compared to the original, which suits the way it's used in-game but it would definitely be a challenge to play it at tempo on piano.

Tetris (GB) - 2 Player Results
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/h22h9ad0oqdwm20/Tetris_GB_2P_Results.musx?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ycihauiras1ymvm/Tetris_GB_2P_Results.mus?dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ya8eb9i60ner4m2/Tetris_GB_2P_Results.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/9q84s9d13qantmz/Tetris_GB_2P_Results.mid?dl=0)

The first track here, "2P Match Results", plays on the results screen between matches in multiplayer mode. The second track, "2P Final Results", plays on the final result screen when one of the 2 players wins the best of 5 series. One thing I noticed about the second track is that it doesn't actually loop in-game like it does on every rip of the OST I've found - it ends on the second last note instead (leaving out the last note entirely). It also bears a passing resemblance to the guitar intro to the Guns N' Roses song, Sweet Child O' Mine (https://youtu.be/1w7OgIMMRc4), but I doubt the two are actually related in any way.

Tetris (GB) - B-Type Fanfares (Trepak Variations)
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/qi5r2p98megcwjv/Tetris_GB_B_Fanfares.musx?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/fb032vdla001cv5/Tetris_GB_B_Fanfares.mus?dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/vvt1ub896ok11lb/Tetris_GB_B_Fanfares.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/7g0p1iqicnq5f4m/Tetris_GB_B_Fanfares.mid?dl=0)

These six tracks have a really interesting story behind them. They're all variations on a theme from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker ballet, specifically from the Trepak (https://youtu.be/z2ISRMSIyX8) character dance. They play when the player beats the B-type game mode on speed level 9, with increasing complexity depending on the height level selected (0-5). However, every OST rip and wiki I could find listed five variations, the first four for levels 0-3 and the last one being used for both height levels 4 and 5, with a sixth variation (https://youtu.be/w10w8lXVSsI) labelled "unused" that only had one voice. This sixth variation was distinct from the first variation, which also only has one voice, but it was longer than the first four variations and shorter than the fifth so it didn't fit into the scale of increasing complexity. This intrigued me enough that I got out my Gameboy and Tetris and beat all of the level 9 B-type levels to see what was going on, and what I discovered was that this track was actually a unique variation for height level 4 with some of the voices missing. I was able to track down gameplay from an emulator that supports what I confirmed on actual hardware, which is linked in the spoiler (it's the only one with a different thumbnail). It's fascinating to me that almost everywhere I looked said the same thing about this track being unused when the real problem was that it's an incomplete rip. I also wonder whether all of these incorrect sources originated from the same rip, or if there's something weird about the game files that has resulted in multiple incomplete rips of that track in particular.

Tetris (GB) - Game Over/Stage Clear
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/x51cov7m8nbgoxa/Tetris_GB_Jingles.musx?dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/nqdyy9vff33w1b4/Tetris_GB_Jingles.mus?dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/foqaal72ef5h9dq/Tetris_GB_Jingles.pdf?dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/baxemw0rbyw7w41/Tetris_GB_Jingles.mid?dl=0)

This set of 2 jingles wraps up the last of the Tetris tracks. The first one, "Game Over", plays whenever a player tops out in any mode. The second, "Stage Clear", plays when a level is cleared in the B-type game mode (and potentially a few other places as well). The interesting track here is the second track, "Stage Clear", which is listed on the VGMPF wiki as being based on the fanfare "Charge!", commonly played at sporting events and used in many other games (http://www.vgmpf.com/Wiki/index.php?title=Charge) as well (and is therefore attributed to the composer of that fanfare, Tommy Walker, on that wiki's page for Tetris). Comparing the Tetris fanfare to the "Charge!" fanfare, however, reveals many differences between them - the Tetris fanfare is missing the characteristic three-note arpeggiated pickup, instead being two repeated notes; the interval between the two main melody notes is a perfect fourth rather than the minor third of the original fanfare; and the melody ends on the root of the major key while the "Charge!" fanfare ends on the fifth of the major key. Therefore, I believe this is a mistaken attribution and the Tetris fanfare is original to the game (or else is so generic as to not be worth attributing to anyone in particular).

Well that's it! This was a fascinating project and I'm looking forward to submitting these in the future. I hope someone else finds some of my research on this topic interesting as well!

~

EDIT: I've decided to pair the two 2-player results themes ("Match Results" and "Final Results") together under the title "2 Player Results", and keep "Game Over" and "Success" together under the title "Game Over/Success!". I think this makes more sense and will make those individual tracks easier to find. I've gone back and edited the sections accordingly.

EDIT 2: Updated the name of the "Success!" jingle to be "Stage Clear" based on common usage.

Just adding the arrangements I did for the Too Hot To Handle project, but I'd also like to say that this marks 50 arrangements that I've posted here! Can't wait for the next 50. :)

Final Fantasy VII - Costa del Sol
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/5xwsrslmcn6t6pxmn86gw/FF7_Costa_del_Sol.musx?rlkey=q383qku0czvqa7k6qwam81bke&dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/464j7ocm55cdkx94kbfws/FF7_Costa_del_Sol.mus?rlkey=osv3pdmf9tqlqdknvic5spssz&dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/2zyjvegredqb110qpuxvi/FF7_Costa_del_Sol.pdf?rlkey=wm4rpdq7ujhu7zgak6cfzfi36&dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/f5i13hy0571kv5ppowsgd/FF7_Costa_del_Sol.mid?rlkey=gqmgg3gob5ljs4oy79g96tc66&dl=0)

This is a beautiful bossa nova–inspired piece from Final Fantasy VII that I was surprised to see wasn't on the site yet. In-game, it's the theme for the sunny resort town of Costa del Sol. I'm really happy with how this arrangement turned out and I can't wait to play it myself!

Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak - Sandy Bay
[MUSX] (https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/jpbbzcp62qmvgf2v07lyh/HHH_Sandy_Bay.musx?rlkey=2bmyzmcqwpl62qjcwp81cm6ih&dl=0) [MUS] (https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/lnwvqxtqlje724ln3x3u7/HHH_Sandy_Bay.mus?rlkey=nh7sjlvlgkcvvb3zyc1oilsh5&dl=0) [PDF] (https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/cposo6e8tg5qpuet7n8d1/HHH_Sandy_Bay.pdf?rlkey=9n98f8vxuba10afq04jgrrqy1&dl=0) [MIDI] (https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/zkrpl75goarhwias2pwtk/HHH_Sandy_Bay.mid?rlkey=8opvc9vjeaoxv6z34z64iiz86&dl=0)

Here's a fun little surf-y piece from one of the Hamtaro GBA games! I never got far in this game as a kid but I finally played it to completion it last year and enjoyed it a lot. This track plays in the beach area.

I've never played this game, but someone requested (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/index.php?topic=12790.0) this track and I liked it a lot so I went ahead and arranged it. Having heard a bit of the rest of the OST there's a chance I may arrange more from this game in the future. I'm not too sure about the title on this one - most English uploads seem to call it "Goemon's Home" or similar but the VGMDB tracklist (https://vgmdb.net/album/3692) has "Lost Town Travelling" (or "Hagure Town Travelling" depending on how it's translated) as the official title. (Edit: It appears the track did get an official English name on a vinyl rerelease of the soundtrack in 2020, "Sentiment of Travelers in Hagure Town".)

Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible Special - Opening

This is an extremely cool song from an extremely obscure game. The Last Bible series is one of the many spin-offs of the larger Megami Tensei series, but other than the first game (localized as Revelations: The Demon Slayer) they haven't been released outside of Japan. I don't know much about this particular game myself, but apparently it's set during biblical times which isn't something you see often. The soundtrack is quite unique and this song in particular gets a lot out of the Game Gear's three channels, so it's taken some editing to get anything remotely playable on piano (no thanks to the blistering tempo). There are two possible composers for this OST, with one credited for "Theme Music" and one for "Sound" - I'm not sure who did what or if they worked together so I've put them both. There is also a really cool intro video (https://youtu.be/LaFUMU0aBhA) (warning for a lot of flashing lights and colours) that goes along with the track.

Another from Legend of the Mystical Ninja! This one stuck out to me while going through the soundtrack in order to find the title of my previous arrangement. The intro sounds heavily salsa-inspired, and the bassline in the B section is also very typical of that style of music. The B section melody, however, keeps the pentatonic sound and harmony that seems to be prevalent in the rest of the game's soundtrack. Very neat fusion of styles here!

I played this game over the summer and really liked it, and this track stuck out to me in particular. A neat detail I noticed about this game's soundtrack is that most of the tracks that aren't named after story chapters or Somnium puzzles have a two-word title starting with the letters A and I, which ties back into the game's title as well as some of its themes. I took some arranging liberties with regards to octaves in this one, taking almost the entire right hand up an octave to distinguish it more from the left hand.

First arrangement of 2024! I used to play this game all the time as a kid, and had to re-install the game from disc often enough that this theme is burned into my mind (since it also plays during the entire lengthy installation process). It's a surprisingly short loop that feels kind of abrupt, but I double-checked with a playthrough of the game and that's just how the track is.
