Title: Quackertree's Accordion Arrangements (or: "Easy Piano")
Post by: Quackertree on June 17, 2019, 03:23:11 AM
Hi everyone!

I promised this thread a while back in the introduction thread. I've been slacking a bit, but here it is, finally! Below is a little "spoiler" which contains some additional information. If you don't care, you can jump right into the pieces below!

Spoiler
As an accordeon player, I love the pieces on the site, but often I find that they simply cannot be performed. This is sometimes through sheer difficulty, but most of the time because it's just not possible to play on the accordeon at all! To still allow me to play the pieces, I rearrange sheets I like and in this thread, I'm sharing them with the world! :)

If you don't play the accordeon, you can still have a crack at these on the piano, as these pieces are most of the time a much easier version than the originals.

I always try to stick to the original as best as possible, but sometimes this simply cannot be done (e.g. Pyrite Town is a fantastic example) and the pieces end up being "remixes" of some sort of the original piece. This means that, at times, certain sections have to be cut entirely. I try to make up for this by adjusting the sheet as best as possible to make the transition go smoothly (again: Pyrite Town) but it's not always a 100% fit. As a result of this, not all tracks can be rearranged.

This thread will only contain rearrangements of sheets found on this website (for now, may change this in the future). This is so I can properly credit everyone, as several of my other rearranged sheets (e.g. I have one for Cuphead) has no original arranger named on it and I'd never be able to retrieve their names.

I don't have any .mus files sadly. At the moment I use MuseScore. Instead, I offer a "high-quality" piano .WAV file. Hope that makes up for it. :P

As a final disclaimer: I just play the accordeon. I have never had classes in music theory or anything alike. I know what chords are, etc., but there might be some "obvious" issues with my piece that I simply cannot know are issues. I'd love to hear some feedback from you guys, though! :)

If you are the original arranger of one of these pieces and would like your arrangement to be removed, let me know and I'll take it off the site.

For now I've only done a bunch of Pokémon pieces. Some of these are quite old (specifically the Pokémon Ruby ones), but they should all be correct! I'm planning to do the Professor Layton series next!

(New!) Professor Layton

Although the accordion is part of its soundtrack, not all pieces were as straight-forward as I expected; Expect "remixed" parts and/or variations of the original! These pieces are the harder pieces of the ones listed on this page, though far from impossibly difficult.

MASSIVE thanks to Bloop for originally arranging 99% of the tracks here! Without your work, I would've never been able to arrange these for the accordion!

Just one of these. I originally wanted to do many more, but sadly these cannot be rearranged for accordeon most of the time. :(

Wow, these are pretty cool! Having come from a solo piano background I honestly know just about nothing about accordion notation, but I think it's awesome our arrangements help you do your thing. Much of what we do is try and write things down so that they're specifically tailored to piano, but I'm glad you're able to piece together something that's workable for the accordion.

Thanks for sharing! Do you intend to post performances/recordings of any of these? I see the sheets but I'm curious how they might actually be played o:

Hi Latios! :D

Thanks for the positive words. :)

Recording one or two of these pieces is in fact on my list of "things to do before I die" but just like the other 5000+ things on it, I might not get round to it. :P I'm gonna try and see if I can squeeze out some time for it for sure, but I can't guarantee anything. - Do you have a preference for one of them?

I also wanna try tomake a recording of me rearranging one of those pieces, showing a little behind the scenes and the process of it all and such. That's yet another point on the infamous todo list though... :-X

An update has arrived! And it reminds me of a puzzle...  ;) :P

Just now, I've added 8 new sheets, all from the Professor Layton series. Specifically, from Professor Layton and the Curious Village.
These pieces were very interesting, as I expected them to be much more straight-forward. Expect some remixed parts and/or variations in these pieces, which were required to make them playable! (Also tons of fun on the piano!)

Have fun and keep on puzzling!

P.S.: I might drop some random other sheets later. I found some game related ones lying around, like Cuphead and Yooka-Laylee. They need some "touching-up" to do first, however, so I'll see when I get round to it.

P.P.S.: I'm still planning to make a video showcasing how I create these sheets, but it's not happening anytime soon. Someday... someday...  :-X

I love the accordion! It's also an instrument that I've wanted to learn, but haven't found the time and energy for. As Latios212 said, it's great to see pieces being "re-worked" for the accordion; Professor Layton is one of my favorite video game series. Seeing music (arrangements) for the accordion is fascinating to me I really want to learn more now.

Great to hear! :)

The pieces I've arranged aren't very useful for beginners (unless you have some foundation in piano, so you won't have to learn how to read notes first too), but they're definitely worth playing once you're able to! Each piece has something unique to teach you and I often specifically rewrite certain sections to "enhance" the learning part of the song.
Feel free to ask for tips if you need any!

Btw, I'm still willing to make a video of the creation process of an arrangement, but it's such a time sink... I'll find time for it some day, though. ;D

Have a great christmas and happy early new year.

P.S.: Sorry for the late reply; Apparantly the notification ended up in my spam box??? - Anyhow, at least now I have an idea of how few times a year I check my spam mail... :P
