well, for me... probably majoras mask
Trauma Center Under the Knife 2 eventhough it just came out last month XD
come on, the X missions are pretty daunting... I just need to get faster to XS the Kyriaki when it isn't slashing the patient's lung to pieces... and Pempti's being a PITA
yes I did say that... Pempti is a type of bread
Advance Wars, Megaman (NES), Megaman Zero, and Phantasy Star Online Episode 3
Pokemon Pearl Competitive Battling... defintly takes the cake for me... especially your trying to make a OU team composed of your favorites... but if not then then probaly metroid prime 2: echoes... it probaly took me the longest to beat the game...
Quote from: Composer #40 on August 12, 2008, 09:17:58 AMAdvance Wars, Megaman (NES), Megaman Zero, and Phantasy Star Online Episode 3
Definitely the very first Mega Man, though you suck if you thought Mega Man Zero was hard.
Halo 3 Legendary >__> was a bitch to complete but me and my friend tried it and it's very fun when you yell at your friend WATCH OUT!! lol and Call of Duty on Veteran I didn't even start on Easy the fricken game said I should go in Veteran and I did the first levels were pretty easy lol but when my sis wanted help on that game on veteran it was FREAKING INSANE!!! @_@ but I did it thank goodness. every thing else was a piece of cake.
A lot of people say Halo 3 on legendary is hard but I played it through with 2-4 people depending on the level and it wasn't that hard, just somewhat challenging. I thought COD 4 on veteran was MUCH harder (I only beat the first two levels)
The first Mega Man has only one difficulty and it's "Being Fucked in the Ass by a Blue Whale".

One word. Pain.
100% Majora's Mask
The Battle of Olympus for NES
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES)
Megaman (NES)
Ninja Gaiden (NES)
Battletoads simply for how fast you have to start inputting the button combos. It's definitely the hardest if you've never played it before, as most of the challenge is memorization. Ikaruga also kicks your ass.
Original Legend of Zelda.

Not hard, just rediculus how long it is with no clues of where to go.
If giudes are not allowed, Majora's Mask. Best game, as well.
Megaman and Ninja Gaiden 2.
Ninga gaiden 2 was hard but awsome. Probably more awsome than hard.
Im thinking of two, but i cannot remember the names. Having a hard time, actually, just remembering facts. Never completed either, but here are the basics of them, tell me the name if you can.
Game #1: One name, Little Mac. Never could EVER get far, at all.
Game #2: Maze game by Nintendo designed to be "unbeatable". Had time limits to finish in, last 2 were supposedly impossible but still done.
Help me out here, im tired and can't concentrate.

No. The correct reply would have been " Thankyou Captain Obvious". :P
Hello, 'twas running of very little steam at the time...
Whats with speaking like your from the elizibethian era in all of your posts all of a sudden?
Nice topic ;)
For me it's The legend of Zelda 2 - The adventure of Link. Extremelly hard and cool, a huge and extremelly hardcore quest and a very exiting battle system.
Notable mentions: The legend of Zelda NES, The legend of Zelda a link to the past, Sonic The Hedgehog 3, Shinobi,Golden Axe, Banjo Tooie,Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3,Donkey Kong 64, Metroid Prime, The legend of Zelda Majora's mask, Pokemon Red, Pokemon Stadium,Sonic Chaos, Super Mario 64, Mystical Ninja,Mischief Makers, Shadowman and Super Smash Bros Melee.
Yeahh, there are a lot of notable mentions of really hard games, but Zelda 2 is the game that I "really" had some dificult problens when playing it.
The Original LoZ was harder though.
are u kidding me i beat the original megaman in 1 day and it was the 1st time i played it. the hardest game for me would be.......uh ...ff3 or advance wars but they were not impossibly hard only mildly hard
LoZ doesn't stand for Megaman.
The Impossible Quiz.
Still never beat it. :P
But for cereal, I would say Majora's Mask.
one game that wasnt really hard... but was really tedious, so i guess it fits here- DK 64- heres a list of stuff that you had to collect:
bannanas- 3500
coins- not really sure how many
golden bannanas- 201
bannana medals- 35
a RARE coin and a NINTENDO coin- one each
the battle... crown... things- 10
fairies- 20
so... uh yeah. thats alot of stuff to collect and im pretty sure im forgetting something
so, like i said- its very tedious
Hmmm...
I'm thining if there's a harder game out there.
Hmmm...
dekuduke the brave
Land of the free and the home of the Whopper.
Definately Majora's Mask.
...how is any Zelda game hard? The only real hard games I can think of would be original Mega man, Alien Hominid, and shooters like Ikaruga
Alien Hominid wasn't that hard. (The original flash version was though)
For me it's ninja Gaiden on the xbox. You know that the game is difficult to a level of unfair when you have a sword and your enemy has a rocket launcher.
Here's a link to what I find is a good list, and an enjoyable watch
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/38283.html (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/38283.html)
:P
Super Mario Sunshine - not impossible for me, but has a difficulty curve that requires use of a guidebook :-[
Twilight Princess is near impossible without a guidebook, too, and Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts is a bit tedious and irritating
I didn't use a guide book for Twilight Princess. It's nothing compared to OoT and Majora's Mask.
Now that I think about it... Super Mario Bros. 1 and 3 were pretty annoying. As was Super Mario World.
The Hardest game I played was... the first Mega Man. I hated the Yellow Devil, and those disappearing blocks :o!
The first Megaman was really hard. It took me forever to beat but with lots of perserverence and LOTS of expresso I finally beat it.

@Nintendo4life: For the love of Nayru! Final Fantasy 3 is not very hard.....until you get to the end game. Holy matrimony batman! Six FRIGGING BOSSES IN A ROW WITHOUT SAVING OR HEALING!!!! DANG! I died on boss #2 last time I tried. He took my whole party out in one hit with his mega lightning attack thing. All my party members are in lv. 60s to!
@Wiiman: L.L Twilight Princess was by far one of the easiest Zelda games I've ever played. It's just so freaking long! The easiest was Phantom Hourglass, but still. I'm a Zelda Veteran though.....maybe that helps, because most zelda games aren't that hard for me. Exceptions would be Zelda 2. Link to the Past and Majora's Mask are on the hard side, but I don't need a guide....well....A guide helped a bit trying to 100% Majora's Mask. I can get the masks without help, but all the other little junks is hard!
Well I may have a new one and it is Sonic Unleashed OMG! That thing was so freaking hard! but I'm happy I beat it :) very enjoyable.
hmm.... Revenge of Shinobi, Theme Park World, Super Mario World 3, Batman Forever, Super Mario 64 and Sunshine, Rolo to the Rescue lol. oh well, most of the games that didnt had a Save system...
Metal Gear Solid 2 on European Extreme difficulty. All the other difficulty levels were easy, but it took me weeks to get past the first boss, and I gave up when I got to the second one.
Fire Emblem games are hard...or at least stressful at times...especailly since I won't let even one of my guys die...screw that. RESET!
Zelda games aren't hard for me.

Fire Emblem is only hard if you're trying to do a perfect run! (Nobody dies, all chests, etc.) then it's mind numbing. That and trying to get through the stupid Lagdou Ruins 5 times in a row without losing a character....well, that's more time consuming than hard, but still.
Exactly how I play my Fire Emblem. :P
Quote from: random_goldfish on December 28, 2008, 03:30:41 PMExactly how I play my Fire Emblem. :P
Whenever I play through a FE game it's:
Nobody Dies, All Chests, Rout Enemy on Every Map, Get as many possible support bonuses as I can, and Make sure every single house is not destroyed by bandits.
i'm surprised no one's mentioned Devil May Cry 3 lol... that one was brutal...
btw the hardest fire emblem in my opinion is FE4...
Fire Emblem is evil. I always want to make sure nobody dies, because if they do die, you're fucked later on.
I think there are some characters you could seriously do without...but for the most part yeah, better keep them up and running...that and I just like saying no one died.
Quote from: random_goldfish on January 03, 2009, 03:17:35 AMI think there are some characters you could seriously do without...but for the most part yeah, better keep them up and running...that and I just like saying no one died.
Especially in Path of Radience. There were a few characters that I found almost useless. Especially since there was not a skirmish system like in Sacred Stones. If there had been, than you could have trained some of the low level characters that you got at the end of the game!
path of radiance was easy at the end lol... just give ike aether and let him solo the last few maps lol...
all the gba FE games could be really easy if you wanted them to be lol... arena abuse in fe6/7 and the stupid tower in fe8...

Well, that's just if you wanted to do it that way though. But, yea. The last few maps in Path of Radiance were pretty easy. My Ike wasn't too great my first run through, so I just sent in my tanks. (Oscar, Titania, Stefan, Maurim. and Rolf) they cleaned up....Then add Tibarn on the last level.....
Sacred Stones had a decent difficulty level if you didn't use the Tower of Vahlni. I rented Radiant Dawn, and the first 6 chapters had a pretty decent difficulty level. I need to go buy it so I can finish it.
In terms of recent games I finished yet and found difficult (it took three hours to complete the first two mission on Halo 3 - at normal), I would go for Final Fantasy IV on the Nintendo DS. It's harder than the original one, especially towards the ending.
FFIV DS kicks your ass. So does Castlevania OOE on the boss fights. Damn.
DAMN YOU GIANT ENEMY CRAB.
I haven't played a lot of diferent games, but I'd say the OOT Masterquest...
Yea, I forgot about Final Fantasy IV DS...It's difficulty was pretty medium and then all of a sudden it was like, What the heck? and then everybody was getting their rear ends whupped! I haven't beaten it though....took a break and been working on Splinter Cell/Lost Odyssey.
If it was a computer game, I Wanna Be The Guy.
You can not play that game without dying 70 times, probably.

A lot of bosses were hard. Especially Greed.
Right now I'm playing mad world and the second boss in Mad Castle( A.K.A. Frank) I still cant beat and it's really pissing me off.

Metroid and MicroMachines 64
I didn't have a controller pak so I couldn't save MicroMachines! ;(
Contra (1) (NES/DS)(I've only played it on DS)
FF2 (the gameplay and monsters weren't hard, it was the (fill in the blank) storyline which led me around the world about 27 times)
DnD (not what you guys would expect to see, but, it's true, depending upon your DM/GM)
once again maplestory
I Found a new insanely hard game. Well, maybe not hard to beat, but insanely hard to enjoy. Maybe i should've expected this from the other five or so, but i didn't. It's Tekken 6
It's easier to beat the first megaman(which I've done) than it is to enjoy a game of tekken(which I still can't do).
Basically any Touhou game.
I've attempted I wanna be the guy, I felt like punching a baby. twice. in the skull

neither can anyone else on the planet. you're not alone. i'm not sure why they keep making tekken games, or why people keep buying them. it's the same bullshit over and over that nobody liked in the first place.
Any game with puzzles, that is, all the home console zeldas (ive never finished one...oot mm ww tp none, but i have all of them)

cod waw on xbox after having played it on wii (DUDE I CANT AIM...)

Idk whats wrong with me. When I was really young, like 5, my brother would make me watch him play RE1 on the PS1, and if i didnt want to, hed tie me to a chair. Any game with some thriller or suspense scares me, however, it is my favorite genre to play.
oh and i finished it, which is rare...i really never finish games, i get bored and play them again like 6 months later
I love Luigis Mansion. One of the best mario games on gamecube, i agree, but also one of the shortest too...Ive played the game when I was about 12, and I really enjoyed it. ive finished the game about 5 times and I could make it it again.....But Ive sold my Gamecube and my Wii is broken....great
Time Splitters 2 on hard is impossible on single player mode.
I Wanna Be The Guy is tough, and it's near impossible to beat the original Tekken with Jack. :P
Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Realistic Difficulty.
Yeah, but Rainbow 6 isnt as bad 2-player, which is what I usually what I do.
How about hardest boss I've ever fought? Cuz just the other day I got into a boss fight in FF6 which took more than 1 hour!!!
Magic Master: my levels under 30, (note: was just getting my lvl 3 spells, firaga, blizzaga, thundaga, and curaga) so I climbed the tower w/out actually getting reflect rings(I never had enough money to go shopping anyways, and they didn't really catch my eye) so it was a challenge getting up the tower especially near the end part, those last few mobs were taking several minutes a battle, so I figured this stuff was in lieu(replacement) of the boss...I was wrong, so when the boss appeared I was like...crap, lemme go look up an FAQ, they said stuff like how to beat him, and then "In his dying breath he casts ultima...you die, game over" but there are ways to avert this(none of which I had...of course...) so I knew I had to never give him the chance to cast ultima, ie drain ALL his 50000 mana...so for 40 mins, I fought, trying to keep reflect up, trying to keep my one-shottable characters alive,(I think I had a total of 9 deaths in this time) and he was using about as much mana as I was draining...(note: I also had to heal him so he wouldn't die before he was out of mana) so, I went online and looked at his list of immunities to see if I could get him to stop ******* casting, so he was not invulnerable to beserk...too bad only one party member knew how to cast that...10 mins later, he is beserked and the magic boss can no longer cast magic, problem over, finishing the battle took about 20 mins
nub, you have to get reflect rings and levitate rings on everyone and it's a piece of cake.
Yeah, it's one of the easiest fights in the game if you know what you're doing.
Magic Master was plain fun. I made sure my three party-members (plus Gogo) had Ultima. The first two would cast Ultima, the third one would be able to cast Ultima twice and then Gogo would mimick it: two more Ultima's. I still love that battle.
Wow, i just found the hardest game in the world... to enjoy.

^ Me too, but I got it with 9 or 10 :P
Ah good times, I didn't quite get that high(partially because we didn't actually own the game).
And for Magic Master, yes, I did not use walkthroughs and such. Anyhow, my second time thru, I had to use Reraise, and the battle took under 2 mins. Anyhow, Kefka was weird, for him, you gotta kill him fast or he'll kill you fast. I just shred with Ultimax4(with Quick and Osmose) have Gogo mimic, and everyone else cast Ultima...Ultimax8 which for most parties should kill him in one turn, however, for my guys it was only about 60k dmg, but no biggie. Was it just me or was most of FF6 easy?
The hardest game I've played is Final Fantasy.
I'm not much interested in this game that's why I have a hard time finishing this and playing it.

Hardest game is probably "Touhou Chireiden ~ Subterranean Animism" or "Touhou Fuujinroku ~ Mountain of Faith". Both are extremely difficult on the highest difficulty and on the last stage.
Actually, I think Mountain of Faith might be harder, since I still haven't beaten the last stage on Lunatic, whereas I have in Subterranean Animism.

After over a year of collecting and 82 NES games played... it's still Battletoads.
I think that one of the hardest games I've played is Super Meat Boy: and the thing is, if you die, it's pretty much entirely your fault; there's not really a lot of "fake difficulty" (e.g. extremely faulty mechanics; completely unreasonable obstacles, although some are just really frustrating :P).
EDIT: One example of fake difficulty would be an obstacle that pops out at you, and you have no way of knowing that it's there unless you've played the game before... and then, when you die, the game starts you out at the beginning of a giant course of death traps you already got through before...
Super Meat Boy is such a great game. Getting 100% complete on it is basically impossible though.
