Title: What sheets do you recommend for someone starting with both hands?
Post by: Glittergulch on May 26, 2021, 12:26:03 PM
Hey everyone, I'm really glad to finally join you. I'm looking to learn songs here but most are really advanced ;D

For context I could learn and play Mario 64's Jolly roger bay. For exact level, Im practicing Alfred's level 2 piano book from the adult course. I'm looking for something around that level or a bit higher to shoot for.

I've looked at several Zelda Ocarina ones but find them too simple, I want to combine both hands a bit. Which ones have helped you or do you recommend?  :)

Unfortunately I don't remember much about the standard piano levels, but I'll give it a shot anyway :)

Here are a few relatively simple sheets I always like to recommend:
"Pokémon League (Day)" from Pokémon Diamond/Pearl: https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/browse/series/Pokemon#sheet656 (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/browse/series/Pokemon#sheet656)
"Kakariko Village" from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past: https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/browse/series/TheLegendofZelda#sheet1670 (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/browse/series/TheLegendofZelda#sheet1670)
"Grass Land" from Kirby's Epic Yarn: https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/browse/series/Kirby#sheet3243 (https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/browse/series/Kirby#sheet3243)

A few questions:
- How comfortable are you with sharps/flats in the key signature?
- Any particular series/games you're looking for things to play from?

Oooh yeah Pokemon League Day is a good one i forgot i learned that one too! Lol.

I'm down for anything in that level, don't mind sharps or flats, it'll help the skill in the long run.

Yeah I played mostly Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Donkey Kong, Banjo Kazooie.

Big thanks for your reply I'll look up the others you mentioned

Song of Healing/clocktower from Majora's Mask is an easy pick.

Calling the Four Giants can be good, but you may need to remove some notes from the chords and slow it down because the LH crossovers can be tricky.
