Would it help if you looked for all of the Pokémon arrangements on this site and listed them? I wanna do something and that seems like a good job to do for me.

That'll be one heck of a job. Just looking at all those will take two-three hours of consecutive downloading and playing. I can give you a couple of tips, though:

The SM64 "Slide" .mid is severely broken. Two thirds of the song is just the heavily overdone second hand (honestly, it sounds like someone dancing polka on the piano). The sheet is fine, though (NOTE: I'm a noob. It could in reality be wrong as heck).

The SM64 Final Bowser theme is a duet, yet piano 1 has the primary tune all the way through.

The SM64 Medley needs a little polishing.

Outset Island Duet from LOZ:TWW could need a look too. It's hard to keep track of what piano plays what.

Good luck, all of you. Wonderful that you take the time to do this.

You know...you don't have to do all of that, you should just focus on one section. for now anyway. Then, when we get more people to help then it won't be so much to handle, But, of course if you feel compelled enough to do it, then by all means go ahead. and thank you.  ;D

I can put it into one piano.  I can take care of the Banjo Kazooie section and maybe I can help with some of the SM arrangements?

no, no, no, no, no, no... not that it's a bad idea, but then that would destroy the authenticity of this site. and at this point, we can't afford to lose anymore rep points, just because "NSM is lazy" and it would destroy all that i have worked, in order to get this project back alive.

so, sorry..but no.  :(

I'm not saying upload that, I'm saying use that.  It's going to be far superior than anything anyone else is going to make.

As in, don't bother making a new one, just go there to get it.

I agree with Gamer4250. Other sites have great arrangements many songs already. Why not make this site the place to go to find (or at least be directed to) the best quality (fan made) sheet music for video games?

Nice. I was just thinking how a lot of the sheets on the site need some work. Since this site has more than just Nintendo music (e.g. Halo, Final Fantasy, etc.), maybe the new domain name should be more general than "Nin-"

Do I understand correctly that this thread is about polishing the already posted sheets to be more accurate and such?

If so,

Help! I need someone to change the last measure's lower clef (left hand) back to the regular bass clef instead of the treble clef it is up until that point! here's the file: http://www.mediafire.com/?j3wntzvyzzy

If you could just change the lower clef to a regular bass clef on the last measure, I could continue working on the piece from there, I think

I'm not gonna be doing anything until our extension is done- cuz then we finally have a proper study and I can link the keyboard up to my PC. I tried it before but the link install CD deleted the bootup drive, meaning our computer couldn't start. Sixty times worse than a virus.

By the way the extension should be done within a few weeks, but we'll need to decorate etc. and that could take a while cuz we are are all lazy.

Well, as stated in another topic on this, I have noticed a couple of songs that may need a little love:

Pokémon RBY's SS Anne has some weird chords here and there. The song sounds nice in Finale, and OK in reality, overall, but when you play it, something sounds a little wrong.

Super Mario 64's Rainbow Ride/Slide/Tick Tock Clock. That .mid is weird, it has the song for about a minute, then there's two minutes of solely the bass (doesn't sound good). Also, I think the bass line in the sheets could need a major revamp.

Some Kirby sheets are in desperate need of a revision:

Aboard the Halberd. Someone please, have a look at the layout of those sheets. Page 3 and 4 are crammed with tiny notes, page 5 is just one line. Of tiny notes.

The Green Greens theme drowns in its own bass.

Someone needs to fix the volume of Float Islands, it's barely hearable in Finale.

City Trial is extremely cramped in places, but there is only one line on the last page. Someone should expand some measures (I won't list them, you'll see which when you view the sheet), it won't increase the page count.

On the contrary, I think some measures in Angel Valley could be shrinked a bit to make room for the last measure, which is the only thing on the second page. Saves printer ink and sheets, you know, keeping it to one page.

Marx's Theme has the "Microscopic content but plenty of room for expansion on the last page as there is only one line there"-problem as well.

There are a bunch of unnecessary empty measures at the end of Floria

Same goes for Dynablade, but there is only one empty measure. In return, it's the only thing written on the second page. Too bad to waste an entire A4 sheet just for that.

That was all of Kirby. Have fun, whoever!

I'll fix my own, as I have said before.
The problem with SS Anne is not necessarily that the chord is wrong..it's just missing the tonic focus of the chord, therefore, sounding weird.

Tales of Phantasia

-Fighting of the Spirit
-Sakuraba Solo

Tales of Symphonia
-A Wood Carving Star In Progress
-Fatalize - Already reworked and uploaded to the site
-Final Destination
-The End of a Thought - See my submission thread
-Kratos Theme
-Last Battle (Will)
-Lloyd's Theme
-Presea's Theme
-Sylvarant

I have a question.

It's both irritating and inconvenient that Brassman won't be here to answer this, but I'm sure there are people here knowledgeable enough to respond anyways: Why do people claim "sections" of music to fix? Some people "have dibs" on say, Earthbound, and others on Super Mario World sheets. I don't see the benefit in this. I have an improved version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's "Zelda's Theme", but I'd rather not have to claim a section to be able to post it.
Title: Re: "Fixing the Sheets" Project II

You don't have to claim an entire section; people just say what they're going to do so that two people don't work on the same thing.

And Brassman may or may not be able to get on now b/c he's able to use a library computer. (Right?)

It's an entirety whether you want to do the section, It's just an option. If you feel that you need to do just one song, then by all means go ahead. As long as we move forward toward something getting done. Sound good?

You, good sir, have an ego problem.

When I first started coming to the site (August of last year) I had little to no knowledge of music theory. I just went on there, downloaded the sheet, and played it through my keyboard to learn it. The arrangements I wanted to play at that stage, and the sheets I enjoy now, were yours. Your SMRPG, Paper Mario and Animal Crossing songs.  :P And I can assure you, there are tons of sheets on the site that need updating before yours.

That's the main point that he wanted to get across, who cares if he constantly refers to his own sheets? All we want is progression. No need to point out useless and trivial things over a simple post that's supposed to mean a simple gesture. Calm.

No, efforts are never wasted. Just check the song and see if it needs work, if it does, then work on it. But if it's perfectly fine, then no need for a revision.

We should make this easier for Nintendude by getting all the fixed sheets on one post or is there a way I don't know about already?

I think most people are just submitting the fixed sheets as normal.  Next week I think I'll let people submit as many revisions as they want to, plus their 2 new sheets.

I added a revision of Final Bowser" from Super Mario 64.  The one already on the site was a "duet" or "four-hands" arrangement and was 11 pages long.  Also, I'm pretty sure the actual name of the song is really "Ultimate Koopa."  I mostly just reduced it into two hands and added a little.

ok, this might be a little off-topic/ a little retarded to ask, but, why not just use MIDI notations or MP3-MIDI notations? is that just not true to actually creating/making the sheet music?

Some people like formated sheets instead of having just the notes. I prefer sheets.

LOZ: MM - Swamp tour

The sheet needs a pick-up bar and shift everything to the left by half of a beat. The left hand G should be removed when the right hand plays 16ths. also it's key signature should be in G (1#, F#). I would do this myself but I don't have a version of finale that I can save files with.

Yoshi's island- Hop Hop donut lifts- the measures after 42 is just the same piece repeated, there's nothing significantly different so it there could be a repeat on bar 3 and 42. also, bar 3-10 could be repeated and bars 19-26 could use a first and second ending repeat. bars 35-42 would also have a first and second ending.

My dad is a music major, and I had him listen to the song. He thought either 6/8 or 12/8. The reason he said was 6/8 was because most people don't like 12/8. Iunno

All except Golden Sun. I claim this whole section. I've been updating them for a while now, as many just need a format change. They will all be uploaded simultaneously and in a huge batch. Shall all look amazing like it should haha. :)

I'll reformat everything in the Banjo-Kazooie section, and any that Olimar hasn't done in the Kirby section. These will just be format fixes. I don't even want to mention "The Halberd" from Kirby Superstar. >.< Is that acceptable?

But just for now, is what I mean.

So I'll reformat them, make a nice-looking PDF and upload them, then later on I'll work on fixing the arrangement as whole for each, and re-reupload them. It's just a suggestion.

'Kay. I'll convert the BK and Kirby songs that can be, and I'll fix all the Banjo Kazooie songs and Kirby songs that need doing so.

Herm. It doesn't appear as if the Kirby section was readily fixed by anyone who claimed that they would... I however have started. I shall not let my uneducated arrangements look embarrassing to the site, lol. I started with Bubbly Clouds and Marx' Theme (as I enjoy those). I'm double-checking the format for font and whatnot to ensure success. Also, I'm adding dynamics and all that jazz. I don't have all the free time in the world however, so it'll probably take me a month or so to clean them up and arrange some new ones hopefully. ^_^ It wouldn't really take long to just do quick clean-ups. But, I feel as if they deserve more effort than that.

In the olden days, you could really really get away with just copying MIDI tracks. xD I've learned a lot about music theory and composition since then though. Ahaha, I don't think I knew anything about cadences or chordal voices or any of that jazz a few years ago... BUT, planning on a music major, I've taken the liberty of learning, or trying. ;D

So anyway, yes, I will clean-up Kirby. My arrangements at the very least. And as DekuTrombonist said a while back...many of them need a bit more than a little reformatting...lmao

EDIT: Finished, just gotta upload now, TOMORROW, maybe ;)

"Something Peculiar" from Pikmin 2 is incomplete. The original song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZGJXxw-8ko) is about 45 secs.

Also... Do we have a wiki?  :o
I really care on the quality of arrangements, and I can convert any printable file into PDF easily... Sign me in!  :D

EDIT: I have some replacements on my submission thread. I've replaced so far:

"Baby Park" (Mario Kart: Double Dash!!)
"Minish Village" (The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap)
"Story" (The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap)
"Temple of Droplets" (The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap)
"Impa's Odd Arrival / Fairy Fountain" (The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages & Oracle of Seasons) - Under the name of it's original arranger.

Just updated my submission post to include my Dragon Roost Island from WW replacement I plan to submit whenever the next update is...  :P

Quote from: Shadoninja on October 02, 2011, 09:58:35 PMIt’s time that this thread is active again.  This project needs some focus and this is what I’m going to attempt to do. I have compiled a list on our abandoned wikia of every sheet currently on the site. Click here (http://nsm.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Fixing_the_Sheets) for the link.

The list on the pages are formatted in the following way:

Song Name: The name of the sheet as it’s listed on the site
Arranger: The arranger of the sheet as it’s listed on the site
Status: Whether a sheet needs fixing or not.
Good: No fixing is required.
Fix: Fixing is required.
N/A: The sheet is awaiting review.
Comments: If the sheet needs fixing, notes about what’s wrong with it E.g. lack of/improper formatting, missing notes, impossible chords, etc.
Editor: the editor of the sheet.

If I could get every arranger who is currently working on replacements, list all of their replacements currently in progress or currently not submitted so that we may get the editor sections up to date and then we’ll be able to see which sheets are available.

Even if you can’t arrange then you can help with checking sheets for errors so that arrangers have an easier job.

Every week or two, I will post either an entire series (E.g. Mario, Zelda, Etc.) or a selection of games within a series (E.g. Super Mario Bros., Link to the past, etc.) or an assortment from the “More…” section. Those will be the focus for the week.

I’m not going to impose a limit but to maximize accuracy and keep the energy and momentum strong, I’m going to suggest only working on a few sheets at a time.

If you would like to help, please sign up for Quality Assurance and/or Arranger.

This sounds like a good excuse to start arranging again. I only have one replacement in progress (I suppose technically it's done), though I am planning on updating my Super Mario Land 2 Arrangements. (Along with G-Han's 2 arrangements there) My In-Progress post just has a list of songs I'd like to work on, but haven't begun yet.

For now, I'll take The Tunnel theme from Metroid II and the Theme of Super Metroid. I'll claim more in a few days.

EDIT: I'm going to go ahead and critique the rest of the sheets for quality. I'll make notes on playability, formatting, etc. Unless anyone else was really interested in looking at these, I'll get the commentary put together by the end of the week. Then I'll pick out any songs I want to re-arrange.

A few other notes: the arrangement of Tallon Overworld on the site is actually an arrangement of this piece (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHM27NOPbmw&feature=related) (the second version of the Tallon Overworld). Also, the link that should go to the Metroid Prime 2 Main Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLOkc9MwFHs) instead goes to the Hydrodynamo Station.
