Title: It is done!
Post by: Jamaha on June 15, 2009, 11:38:14 AM
I'll proudly inform, that the long-awaited sheet uploader is ready.

Updates can now begin. Please bug the updater crew (Which seems to consist only of Concerto at the moment) instead of me now.

I'm sure we could find volunteers to help him if we need.

Concerto: When can we expect an update?

You can't just be an updater.  You have to check that the sheets are properly formatted, aren't ridiculously sloppy, etc.  You have to make sure they're playable, and tell them what they need.  It's not as simple as just sticking the files into an ftp.

I know, don't I do that anyway? Other than the formatting stuff.

You don't believe me, go take a look at my arrangment thread. Better yet, ask the people that I helped.

Look

Brassman's sheets (http://www.ninsheetm.us/smf/index.php?topic=1392.0)
Gamer's sheets... oh wait he doesn't have one!

All I want to say is that Brassman works his ass off for this site, makes (one of) the best sheets that NSM has, is always helpful and takes so many requests. He earns a little respect and I think he's the most competable candidate for this position.

And personally, I think Gamer has no right to talk.

I'm not an ass, my only problem is you seem to not like the fact that Brass is the guy for this job and not you. Because Brass does so much for this site. And I never underestimated the updater position, but a little trust in Brass would be good.

And sorry if I said you don't have any sheets, I must have overlooked it.

I never thought that anything was easy, I just want to help the site out, that's it. If you personally don't think that I can do it, Just say so. Quit attacking the idea of someone being an updater.

Other than that, your negative views get annoying after awhile, calm down. Not everything has to be trivialized to the brink of annoyance.

If you have a problem with me, just say so. I have no problem with this.

Hmm, I'll have to look into this new uploader...  See if it's time for a comeback.  If you guys would have me back, that is. ;)  (I don't even recognize half of you, actually.  Nice to meet you all.)

Gamer, quiet yourself, you're just making yourself more unpopular.  No, updating's not easy.  But that doesn't mean that people besides yourself and other vets are up to the task.  More than anything it's just incredibly boring. :P  Hopefully the new uploader lowers the boredom a bit.

Nintendude: Your incompetence is your weakness!  If you simply do it as you did before NSM will end up as a shitpile of awful arrangements like it used to be.  You have to actually STUDY them to make sure they are PERFECT.  We cannot taint the site with key signature-less sheets, ridiculous unplayable songs, ones that don't match the originals whatsoever, and absurdly messy arrangements that don't use proper notation.  NOT AGAIN.

That is all.
Title: Re: It is done!

Excuse me?!  How do you have the NERVE to say something like that?  Yeah, NSM has had rough times, but you can't blame me for all of the crap sheets that were up before I even started as an updater.  I spend hours and hours of my time looking through each sheet, listening to it, making adjustments and formatting, and you just write that off as incompetence?  You have said some things to make me hate you before, but this is just outrageous.

Write back soon, love and kisses

That wasn't all srs you know.  I didn't say that YOU caused it all.  But it IS serious that we need to make sure that we don't have a mess like that again.

Also, you made it sound like you weren't going to pay attention to the sheets, so you asked for it.
Title: Re: It is done!

Yo relax.  I can take a look at some of the sheets if you want, and I'm sure others can too. That means the real updaters will have less work to do editing submissions...assuming we just don't make things worse...

Umm... just a question. Where is the borderline between "riduculously hard" and "unplayable" songs?
For example, I'd say that Break The Targets (SSBM) is crazily hard to play, not to say that it's impossible. Can someone on the other hand point out an unplayable song on here, so I have anything to compare to?
(I know, measure 39 in Master Hand Battle (SSBM), but an entire song?)
Title: Re: It is done!
Post by: Nintendude73 on June 18, 2009, 06:22:03 AM
Unplayable generally means, from my experience, that there are impossible reaches in the song.  Someone wise told me a long time ago that anything that asks you to play over more than an octave with one hand is impossible.  I can't think of any unplayable songs off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are some on the site that still haven't been fixed.

Like the Sam Waetford's Banjo Kazooie theme where the right hand played fast 16th note arpeggios over 2 1/2 octaves(without 8va not to mention) and polka style left hand parts with eighth notes spaced almost two octaves apart.  I think it was fixed, but THAT was impossible.

Octave is standard reach limit on songs. Some people can reach farther than that, but we can't be hating on them tiny-handed little people. Octave is a good standard, which is why we use it.

And welcome back Nintendude.

The Rachmaninoff prelude just has overlapping chords, nothing too unusual, and I third the notion of it being a great piece.

Don't you just love how people compare impossibilties to Rachmaninoff and Liszt?

Overlaping chords arent hard... a bit of pratise, and its done :P

According the musicologists, Lizt and Rachmaninoff were the greatest pianist of all time. As you know, they've composed their musics, according to their piano skills, which is almost impossible to reach. Liszt's Music requires a great technique to play his music. Rachmaninoff's Music requires a huge hand, and also a lot of technique (even if his musics are easier)...
Thats why we, musicians, compare impossible musics to rachmaninoff and Lizst: because their music is also almost impossible to play too.

You're not the only one...
I never played Lizst, Mozart, Prokofiev, John Field, and almost Chopin in my life...
But Im starting to play Hungarian Rhapsody and Transcendental étude "Les Harmonies du Soleil" (Lizst), Concerto No. 27 in Bb major (Mozart) and Nocturne No.4 in F-Major (Chopin)...... Ill not be killed by dahans today! muahahah xD
