Post by: Swordomar on July 30, 2009, 10:33:48 AM
When I first created my username I thought it was awesome. It flowed, it was unique, and at the time, it seemed relatively not uncool. Now however, a good 10 years later, I am actually kind of embarrassed by it. I keep it only because that is what I use for everything, and that is how everybody knows me. Plus it is also somewhat hard to... decipher.  I will not reveal it's origins in this post, but if you feel like guessing, go ahead. I may even let you know if you guess correctly.

Umm, I guess it started with runescape, but that was so many years ago I have no idea why I decided to go for "Translator", nor why I decided to deliberately spell it wrong. I guess it was because Translator sounded cool, and I wanted to be imaginative and change it a little.

Your name is Omar? and you added sword?

@ALPRAS
6 names? Are you counting your surnames aswell? And how do you get 3 surnames (considering that after Rodrigues they are last names, you know, rodirgues is one, alves is 2 and da silva is 3)?

I would be FDGA: Francisco Daniel Gutierrez Alonzo. (I don't like Francisco because none of my friends in the US can pronounce it correctly and Gutierrez is too common. I've never met another Alonzo outside of my family)
There was only one thing i didn't like when I lived in the states, my official name there was Francisco D. Gutierrez (which sucks cause I hate that combination) so I always asked people to give me nicknames.

Oh and coincidentially, when I did research for my name, Alonzo has italian heritage :D

And I ask because it's pretty interesting how other people are named in other cultures. Sorry about the rant, but if there is something I love is languages and culture. (and italy and italian is among my top five)

Just because you live in a country where diaries are stereotypical of women, that doesn't mean Holland (where I believe GG is from) has those stereotypes. Or maybe he just wants a diary, big deal.

It's not stereotypical for women, It's just 'girly' when men have them.

In the U.S. we bottle up our feelings and vent them in many different ways. A majority of women use diaries and men use violence.

Back on topic; I also use Commander6.

Commander I got from playing too many strategy games and Battalion Wars directly refers to you as Commander. The six thing I got from the brief Viewtiful Joe cartoon (insert random object 6!). Found it kinda catchy :-[

Mine is actually one of old childhood friends made up. Although unfortunaley I don't remember what the part of it meant.

Pal | Age | Rini

Basically my friend said that I got along with people pretty well and that she always use to say that i'm like an old man stuck in a little boy's body. That was in elementary school and even to this day, people still think i'm like in old man stuck in a teenager's body.

Dang I really wish I remembered what Rini meant. =/

And musicians express them selves in the music, but also in other type of things. Greekgeek for example, in a diary. We (musicians) are supposed to be more flexible and sentimental persons, and our brain isn't so limited as the other insensible and rude people that only express them selves with violence. We are better than them.

Ok, I bet you guys have been wondering about mine:

The first time I ever played an online game (Guild Wars), I had recently finished playing FFIII for the first time. I therefore wanted my name to be 'Sir Ingus' after the game's knight, but some other player had already taken it! I was trying to come up with another name, when my dad came and wrote 'Bingus' after what I already had. I've been Sir Ingus Bingus ever since.

On most other forums, I'm known as Pokemaniac (Yeah, I still like Pokémon). However, on a game related forum, that would sound a little too nooby, so I took a username from my other big hobby: Roller coasters.

The Cobra Roll is an element compromised of a half loop, going into a corkscrew at its apex. The corkscrew changes direction (often giving a sideways jolt halfway through the element) back to the side it came from, and when it's back to the apex, it goes into another half loop. See my signature and avatar for illustrations.
For the record: the coasters portrayed are:
Avatar: Incredible Hulk, Universal Studios Island of Adventure, Florida USA (http://rcdb.com/m/id557.htm)
Sig: Left: Superman / la Atracción de Acero, Parque Warner Madrid, Madrid Spain (http://rcdb.com/m/id1366.htm)
Sig. Right: Katun, Mirabilandia, Savio Italy (//http://)
All of these are coasters built by the Swiss manufacturer Boliger & Mabillard (B&M for short). Many other companies also include Cobra Rolls in their layouts.

And it looks awesome. Propably rides awesome as well, but I've never tried one. This baby (http://rcdb.com/m/ig1412.htm?picture=5) was closed when I went to the park this Easter (It's also, by the way, the coaster in the world with most iversions (times going upside down), tied with a clone model in China with 10).

The Cobra Roll is by some manufacturers called a Boomerang. And I should probably stop this lecture now.

Let's be girly then, but sometimes I feel like writing poems and stories and if you don't understand that, then you should never come to Holland. And btw, diaries are better than diarreia ;D

Back when I was in marching band, me and my other two other counterparts were referred to as the "Men in Brass". We were also dubbed with surnames alone with our titles. Mine of course, was Brassman.

The "388" Part comes from the Metroid games (hence my avy) and is referring to the plane that the metroids originate from; Planet SR388.

There is a coaster in Mexico's Six Flags called Boomerang. (before it was a Six Flags it was a different company, but it was bought around 8-9 years ago). Anyway, this coaster in particular has a Cobra Roll (which I most certainly love) but what makes it special is that this was the first coaster in the world (or so the park claims) to have a Reversed chain lift, it drops you, you do the cobra roll, then a loop, just to meet another chain lift and go back the way you came. The cobra roll part while backwards is my favorite.

Lol, I'm such a coaster noob, me and my friends go there at least every two weeks, and I even have an annual pass so I get in for free.

^What you are describing is a stock model Boomerang coaster. Including inverted versions, there are about 70 of these worldwide (43 of which are operating). The very first one was opened in 1984 at Morey's Piers (New Jersey USA). In other words, they are the most common type of coaster around. Still, renowned for their reliability and affordable price (about 1,500,000 USD), along with a small footprint, they are popular among parks. 6 inversions are also a plus. However, the Boomerangs (or the manufacturer in general) are known for being exceptionally "rough", and shaky, putting them far down the list in various coaster polls.

My username is just something I came up with 7 years ago when I first had to make an internet alias. I simply combined the word "Bespin" (a planet from Star Wars) and my first name "Ben" to create "Bespinben", which I liked because the repetition of the B consonant between the two words formed a nice alliteration.

I like wolves, but just "wolf" as an username would be lame (okay, "Terrawolf" isn't that much better). I thought about "Firewolf" as an username, but I didn't really like it, so I tried the same with Erd- (earth), wild-, Regen- (rain) and Icewolf, also with Pyro-, Aero- and Aquawolf and after that I came up with the name "terrawolf". I liked it, and now I use this name already for about four years.

Backstory: I knew that I wanted the HoMM II Paladin as my avatar. :P

Explanation: Paladins, and their upgrades, Crusaders, attack the opponent twice. They are often more numerous than other Level Six (most powerful creature in their castle) creatures (since they're a bit weaker than other Level Six creatures, I think), especially Black Dragons (I believe you only get like one or two per week; plus, they're expensive).
This makes Paladins and Crusaders excellent for combat against Black Dragons: they have higher numbers and attack twice, meaning that they essentially deal double damage, not factoring in spells, luck, and morale.

They're no longer safe...

'Kman' because my first name is Kelsey, and although it is highly thought to be a girl's name, I added the extra 'man' on there to prove otherwise.

Oh, and '96' because I was born in 1996. Unoriginality is unoriginal.

JDMEK is the first letters of me and my siblings names in order from oldest to youngest.

It was originally done for video game files we shared.

But I soon found out that I was the only one using them anyways.

So I adopted it as my own.

And the "5" is there because the're are a total of "5" of us. ....... Creative, I know.

I came up with the name with the red color in mind.  Mashi's accurate in that it's supposed to refer to Vulpix.  I don't know where that paint store's getting vermilion as a green color.  Maybe that color's the opposite of vermilion on the color wheel or something.  If you google "vermilion," all of the results are red!

Tobbe is my nickname. I had fun with my first account name on youtube and named it Tobbe999999999999999, which is my name Tobbe and then filled in the rest with 9's, just fun having a really high number. After a while I thought a bit more seriously and thought it was too silly as a username so I cut it down to 2 9's, so it became Tobbeh99 (I added the h there, because Tobbe99 was often already taken).

Well, TheMarioPianist itself is pretty self-explanatory...I'm a pianist...that likes Mario games. Big surprise, right? Oh, and I guess it also comes from my Youtube channel, where I actually thought of a decent name the first time around. Speaking of which...I should really learn a song well enough to post there. Gotta learn Delfino Plaza a little quicker, I guess.

However, if you go back to my original username before Jamaha let me change it (thanks again!), that one was cqk328. Not much story, really. CQK is my initials, and 03/28 is my birthday. Maybe I decided a birthday in the username wasn't such a good idea...also cqk328 doesn't have a cool/efficient abbreviation as opposed to TMP. Oh well. So uh, that's that.

Flashback to around 2008 or so. Little ol' me was messing around on the Mii Maker on our Wii. I ended up making a bunch of random pointless Miis because I was bored. One of which, I just started building from scratch. Brown hair, stubby nose, a mustache, and... hey, aren't those are the same eyes Brock from Pokemon has? Sure, let's put that onto it. Make everything brown. Why not?

Then I needed a name. Okay, well... he's a guy? Hey, why don't I just spell guy backwards? Yug. Yug Guy. Sure, sounds decent. Yug Guy eventually became the Mii I'd use for online modes throughout my Wii years, and even into the 3DS/WiiU era. And eventually it just became my username online (except for reddit, 'cause it was already taken). If you've ever wondered why I have a Mii as my avatar, it's because the name and the Mii are practically inseparable.

Fun fact: The version of Yug Guy I have for my avatar doesn't look exactly the same as the one I originally created on the Wii. I was too lazy to use the original for reference, so it became kind of a cross between the original Yug Guy and how I actually look.

Because 9/10 people just add numbers at the end of usernames, I can have this username almost anywhere! Except for Steam. "Insig" is short for "insignificant", just like how "Sig" is short for "significant" in the term "sig fig". Insignificant because there isn't anything special about me. I'm just another guy exploring the world of art, science, Pokémon, and dank memes. The way I deal with life is to go with the flow instead of fighting the current. Nothing is going to change because of me, and I'm okay with that. Essentially, it represents my acceptance of my limits of what I can be and I can't be.

"Turtle" came along because a guy in my math class told me, "You know, you're kinda cute. You remind me of a turtle for some reason. I don't know why."

This bit in particular strikes as particularly stoner-Hippie, "like, we're all part of the same, like, system, maaaaan." From a non-American point of view, I can agree that I associate these things with California from the representation of California I have seen in texts, despite having never visited the place myself.
