Title: Performances of game music
Post by: Cobraroll on September 22, 2009, 05:53:28 AM
I think we need a topic like this on here. Basically, a topic where you post videos or audios of people who play game pieces, be it any instrument (mostly piano, though).

For overcomeability's sake, don't post more than five links unless the links are closely related (ie, same guy playing, the same song on different instruments, etc).

Guess I'll start, then. Here are videos of a guy nicknamed AndrewPlaysPiano, who plays... piano. Check out these songs:

Rainbow Road, Medley from the Mario Kart Series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coklPXfJQqk
Tetris themes A and B: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tw7xuJja-Fc&feature=related
Gourmet Race, King Dedede's Theme, Green Greens, from the Kirby games: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pc_T-oTWaSw
Gerudo Valley, from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dm5sVr-OJOI&feature=related
Chrono Trigger Medley: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_X-6ksvwxWw&feature=channel

Have fun!

We used to have an entire forum section for this, except it was for people that did it themselves.  Just share this stuff in the pictures/videos topic in the off topic section.

I didn't know where to post that, but I think this is the right thread for it.
I have to play a concert on November 19th and my teacher wants me to play Super Mario, but I am not sure what I should play. Could someone help me? A Super Mario Medley would be great. THX

Hmmm... a medley I've always wanted to do is the "base hub" themes from the 3D Mario games. That is, Inside the Castle, Delfino Plaza and the Comet Observatory. While these may be far below your skill level, it may be worth checking out. If you're feeling confident, do all the Athletic themes (that is, SMB Overworld, SMB2 Overworld, SMW Air Theme, SML athletic and Hop, hop, Donut Lifts).

And to stay on topic:

This guy, Tom Brier, really knows his stuff. All these videos are sight-reading:

SMW: Athlete's Rag: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZMroQOtS_U&feature=related

I think we found someone within MaestroUGC's target group. Too bad he's so good that he can improvise the same result from a lot simpler sheets.

Slightly off topic but we used have Space Junk Galaxy on the website. It was one of the first songs I properly learned and I've still got the printed sheet of it. The funny thing is it's still in the database... here (http://www.ninsheetm.us/sheets/SuperMario/SuperMarioGalaxy/SpaceJunkGalaxy.mus).

well, no offense, but this song is way off from the original, and I could probably play it better in that case. There were several wrong notes. If you want to see an almost perfect score of it, it's here:

once again, I don't mean to offend anyone.

So I don't know if this is really a performance of music, but I love the Super Smash Bros. Brawl arrangement of the Luigi's Mansion Theme. Great song, great game.

Here's the remix (y'all have most likely heard it before):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dm2YfKjU9yI

And, just for the heck of it, here's the original. Had Luigi humming the tune rather than instruments. Horrible outcome, but I think it's kind of funny. Adds to the whole "creepy mansion" part, though:
