Title: "Groups" in FN2008? And layers?
Post by: universe-X on March 01, 2010, 06:20:23 PM
Hey everyone! I need some help on how to make... groups? of instruments in Finale Notepad 2008. What I mean is, I don't want it to sound like one cello, but a group of cellos without having to add it over and over, which doesn't work either. Also for layers, do you need to start on Layer 4 and work your way up? Because my Finale rejects any notes that I try to add when I use Layer 1 first, and then try any other layers...

Thanks :)

First off, you can't do really anything soundwise with finale. What it has is what it has. You could try making two layers, having one with a solo cello, and the other with a string ensemble. Adding volume where it would make it sound better. Don't know, never tried it before.

Secondly, It's better if you do start with the first layer on top and work your way down. That's how finale designed it. You do it any other way and the whole sheet just will end up looking silly.
