File ==> save as ==> instead of "mus" choose "midi"

It is a good arrangement :D. Needs some improvement but it's too late xD. What's your next project?

First arrangement. Gratzzz.
Did you try using a sharp key signature? Sometimes, it looks like D or E would help a lot.
Also, be sure to format it correctly. The title and composer and all.
Sounds accurate though. Welcome aboard.

I'm doing Folsense right now (how conceited is that, arranging my own requests) and I think I'm formatting correctly... I just don't what to put at the bottom for copyright things... Can someone explain that?

Nah I would never get made. Why should I get made? You can arrange any song you want. Even if it's already on the site. We're rivals now ;).
BTW the mus file is broken.

Sry that it took me so long to comment on your arrangement^^.

I think it's a really good arrangement. Really accurate and nice. BUT :D I think you could be a bit more creative! Try to develop your own arranging style :D!

Anyway, thanks a lot! I know it's not all that great; I'm still only a beginning arranger... I really, reaaaaaallly, REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY want to try my hand at some of the Black and White stuff; perhaps that will make me a better arranger!

Yeah, but you have it listed as Route 3 on your post and your OP. You might want to change it to Route 4 to avoid confusion.

Listening over the songs, I think I like Route 2/Route 3 better...but this is a nice one, plus the sheets for Routes 2 and 3 are already made!

I realize that my arrangements don't sound as good as some other peoples'... but truthfully there are a lot of people who like to make theirs "sound" good.... that's not why guests are here. They want to LEARN the songs. I try to make mine as accurate as possible, but most importantly, PLAYABLE, and at a reasonable difficulty level...

dahans, I have not been able to play one of your arrangements so far because they are ridiculously hard!! xD xD xD I hope you are not offended!.

His Name is Fawful

needs the game title under the song title.
I'd make it two measures per system but you couldn't do that in notepad.
otherwise it looks good.

Route 6

it's a bit odd that you would put a repeat on measure 2 instead of measure 1(i'm not counting the 2/4 pickup measure)
at measure 9 have you considered using F# instead of Gb?

also wouldn't it be gamefreak 2010? it was released in japan in 2010. it's a minor issue though.

Exploration team theme

needs moar in the bass.
at measure 5 and 11 is it necessary to have those dotted half notes?
measure 31 - that right hand part would be unnecessarily difficult to play accurately. have you considered removing the dotted halfs?  you're already playing C octaves in the bass.
measure 43 - I think that dotted half note would work better if it was in layer one with the F.
measure 52, 55 60 - are those tied notes necessary?
Title: Re: SlowPokemon's Arrangements--NEW Pokemon Black and White Musical Hall
Post by: SlowPokemon on July 11, 2011, 03:12:41 PM
His Name is Fawful - yeah I realized that when I printed it out :P It also needs the title bolded.
Fixed MUS:
http://www.mediafire.com/?cuo54bjzuusura0

Route 6 - yeah, originally I had the two beginning notes as grace notes, so I couldn't repeat back to the first measure. I'll fix that. I guess I could change to F#, but I don't see the purpose, I think it doesn't look too bad as it is. And also, sorry about the copyright, I used the NOA release date. xD I don't think I'm going to change it though, as I did the same with my Route 4 and Musical Hall already on the site.
"Fixed" MUS:
http://www.mediafire.com/?pdhudczq13l1c0v

Exploration Team Theme - Yes, I really struggled with the bass. It's very repetitive, especially in that last section. I just don't know. Maybe I didn't put enough effort into it. :P
Measures 5 and 11, I tried it with the dotted quarter rest, but it just looked sloppy because they were virtually on top of the dotted half.
Good idea about measure 31, I'll just remove the top dotted half, leaving the C that's an octave lower, that's playable.
Measure 43, do you mean make it a dotted half in itself? Unless you do, I don't know how to make that in the same layer.
Measures 52, 55, 60, I suppose they're not necessary.

Post by: Dudeman on July 11, 2011, 05:18:45 PM
I've noticed several note errors. First of all, Measure 4: those last 2 notes should be an E natural and an F sharp. Measures 5-8: That whole section should be in G Major instead of Gb Major.
Title: Re: SlowPokemon's Arrangements--NEW B/W, PMD, and M&L
Post by: Shadoninja on July 11, 2011, 05:51:54 PM
exploration

5, 11 - what I mean is that since layer 1 is playing the same note as layer 2 you could take out the dotted half note completely.

31 - it'd only be playable if you had freakishly long fingers because you hold the C for 4 beats. there's two options here.
1)leave only the first C. that part is actually playable or
2)remove both C's

43 - I mean change the D dotted half to a dotted quarter and then put it with the F

I know exactly what you mean! I ended up adding more bass in the beginning that's in the actual song, because there is very little bass in this song. It's mostly some of the more contemporary percussion instruments. Very interesting to arrange, though.

A Sinister Smell (Team Skull's Theme) (http://www.mediafire.com/?4ney4erbr7czg61)

I'm almost finished (that is, I have the arranging part down), but I have a few limitations because of Finale Notepad. Would you mind helping me with the following issues?

A) Starting from measure 18 till the end of the piece, could you change the key to Ab Minor? The notes are right, but the key signature is wrong. (Also, how do I make the measures numbered?)
B) Could you also save the midi for me, since repeats won't listen in the midi in Finale Notepad?
C) Maybe fix the formatting issues...? The only reason I ask is because I realize you have a newer version of Finale than I do, so I wouldn't be able to edit your file.

If you help me, that would be fantastic!

Anyway update and stuff.

I arranged Anville Town (I know Dr. Pamplemousse's is already on the site but I really am kind of a perfectionist in some things and there were some things I didn't care for in his arrangement. Even if this isn't accepted, I still wanted this for myself, so I could learn it.

Also, props to Dr. Pamplemousse. Please don't be offended that I rearranged this, yours was good and actually helped with mine. In a couple measures it helped me with framework/bass clef notes and such.

Of course xD there are two reasons I didn't:
Anville Town, the Finale Notepad 2008's piano sound is very meh compared to Finale 2011, I wanted the midi to sound good.
The End, at the time I posted it, I thought I would have to change the tempo, which I can't do in notepad.

It was tons of fun to make, but there are several problems (I mostly made this as a test):

A) I don't know how possible this is to play

C) I don't know why there is a random violin staff amidst everything

Celadon City Orchestrated was pretty cool overall, with the trills fitting nicely with the music.

The number and length of the solos made it sound, well, less of an orchestra.
Other than that, all you need to do is check for ranges and playability, and you're all set!

edit: I think I just had trouble with the fourth and fifth pages. I felt like some instruments were left out a lot, but that was mostly due to the random violin staff. :P

Title: Re: SlowPokemon's Arrangements--NEW Professor Layton "A Quiet Town"

It's high, but any collegiate level player could play the basoon part. We can play up to the E above solid. Sometimes the F#. However, I would suggest swapping to tenor clef there.
It's odd to have the random trumpet. The violin line could be removed by a higher version of finale. If you changed the trumpet part to an oboe line, that would make more sense in the instrumentation. A wind section, piano, and mallets is not too improbable.
Definitely playable for a small ensemble. The absence of other parts doesn't necessarily hurt in this situation. However, it would be nice to hear them all playing besides just the last note.
Also, you could give more instructions with ornamentation throughout the piece. The last note has an accent in the pianoforte line, but no where else. Any experienced player would know to hold out that last note for a quarter note duration even if they had an accent on their parts.
Sounded great and accurate. Good job. :)

I arranged part one of the End Title (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ashha-whm6U) from Nightmare Before Christmas, could you guys look at it and tell me if it's good or not so much? (That link leads to the whole song but I only arranged the first minute and a half or so, "part 1")

Do you want a PDF?

If you want, it's not necessary though. (Since it can't be accepted to the site) :) It would be nice though.

I LOVE YOU FOR THIS!!!!  I'm currently arranging Corpse Bride Piano Duet. It's going good, but I LOVE THIS ARRANGEMENT
EDIT: Danny Elfman rocks, just saying :P

Danny Elfman's a genius. He's just awesome. He's pretty much my favorite composer actually.

I might make the rest of the song if I feel like it. It was a lot of fun.

Also, I have the official sheet music for the corpse bride piano duet. :D

The piece was thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks.
I don't think measure 17-18's second layer are inherently necessary. You could add the A to the 4th beat of measure 18 and still be fine. It would also make that section playable.
The only other odd thing I noticed was in measure 38. You had been using the correct notation of Cx thus far, but in the treble staff, used a D natural.

Ahhhhhhhhh remember, that's a nice theme.

Alright, your arrangement seems to be totally accurate and playable. Just one thing.... why is the bassline soooooo loud? I know it's not your fault, but it would be nicer if it were a little more quiet.

Staff Roll

Measures 1-2 - The Marimba notes have harmony notes that are about a third below. Beats 1 and 2 of measure 2 should be reversed so it'd be dotted eigthth sixteenth(repeating the same notes), quarter. I think beat 4 should be a dotted eighth sixteenth to lead into the whole notes with the harmony being an Eb below (I could be wrong about the harmony)

Measures 3-4 - there are missing harmony notes and there needs to be bass there. I believe the harmony notes to be Eb and D Respectively.

Measures 5-6 - 7 beats of silence is too much. I'd remove measure 5. Also, measure 6's rests should be simplified to a half rest and quarter rest in both hands.

Measures 2-4 - beat 4 to measure 4 need to be 8va'd. Optionally it could start at beat 2 so there's no large leap in eye movement.

(measure numbers from here on are listed under the assumption that measure 5 has been removed)

Measure 10 - the rests should be simplified.

Measures 11-18 - you're not going to add those offbeat notes? I think they add a lot of the marching characteristic. they're fine as is if you don't want to add them.

Measure 19-32 - I'd consider splitting the quarter rests on beat 2 to two eighth rests. I'm not sure if it's musically incorrect or not but it helps the performer visualize where beat 1 and 2 are in my opinion.

Measure 51 - 52 - right hand needs to be 8va'd

Measure 53 - simplify the rests.

Measure 78, 80 - split the eighth note on the a of 3 into two tied sixteenths, similar to measure 79 and 81

Measure 82-89 - you did a great job with the rhythm in the bass at Measure 78-80, I don't see why you over simplified this part. The right hand needs a reduction in unnecessary rests.

Measure 94-101 - like in measure 11-18 I think the offbeats here would add a lot of that marching feel, especially since this part is towards the ending of the piece and helps it drive until the ending.

Measure 95, 97 - the second eighth note in the right hand needs to be split into two tied sixteenths.

Measure 98-101 - in the right hand, I think you should make the rhythm of the first two beats dotted eighth sixteenth tied to an eighth eighth.

Measures 102-105 - I think the bass should imitate the timpani part which plays an eighth note on the and of 4 in measures 102 and 104.

Measure 106 - Needs rests to finish the measure in the left hand. It sounds like there's a note that repeats itself in that sixteenth note run. I believe it's the top F.

I love this tune. So simple, but I could loop it forever.
Besides formatting fixes, the only change I see that needs to be made is the dotted quarter rest. Don't use them unless you're in a compound time signature (like 6/8, 9/8, 6/4, etc.).
Good job!

Lol yeah, I have dozens of barely-started or half-finished arrangements... :P

I was trying with the ensemble version to get it as close to the game's version as possible. Of course, with no pizzicato strings in Finale, that part had to be taken over by the piano, but I still think it sounds nice. The violin was my main focus there anyway.

You would use the Staff Tool and add a new instrument. Once you've done that, change the name of whatever instrument you chose to Pizzicato Strings. After that, go to the instrument list under the MIDI/Audio drop-down menu and change the GM of the instrument to Pizzicato Strings. There ya go  ;)

there's a way to make it so that you can have pre-existing strings play pizzicato using layers. you don't need to have a separate staff for pizzicato playing and I think that would make the score look messy anyway.

I will write the tutorial on how to in a moment.

Thanks! XD It's super hard to play the two hands together in the third section but I practiced for awhile and can do it at a slower pace. I am guessing that the giant long accordion run is probably not perfect, but it's as close as I'm getting...lol...

I don't see why you omitted the 2nd-layer countermelody played by the horns in measure 11-14. In fact, there are quite alot of places I where I think you could incorporate a few more parts from the original, just as a suggestion.

Hmm that's a good idea. I might keep this one as an "intermediate" version and make an "advanced" version with more parts from the song.

In that case, I think you should play my "Misthallery's Many Canals" ensemble arrangement, just play the accordion part with violin :) it's really pretty and a lot easier than Layton's theme.

My first Black 2/White 2 arrangement (hopefully the first of many) and, unless I'm mistaken, the first on the site (besides the one that was done of an unofficial battle theme). I loved this theme, it uses the original creepy part first then breaks into a carefree, happy theme that is apparently meant to remind the player of the protagonists from the original game.

Very nice.

In measure 12, there's a chromatic descent in the right hand. You would notate that with flats, not sharps. The left hand there is fine though. Also, I believe if you shrunk the page to 90% and fit 3 measures per system, you could fit the arrangement on one page.

Post by: Olimar12345 on August 16, 2012, 04:15:51 PM
It's...less complete than I thought it would be... There are still several problems within this sheet:

-"Score" in the top left-hand corner needs to be deleted.
-LH part for measures 1-2 and the first note of 3 should be down an octave.
-I literally just transcribed the bass line-but for piano there can be so much more added.
-No dynamic markings.
-Measure twelve's C# should be a Db, because the figure is decending.

I told you I could do more to it, I was just busy last night with my friends. :P PM me or something.

This is one of my favorite Pokemon pieces ever, in any game. So I decided to try to make an orchestra arrangement, as similar to the original as possible. I actually made this over a month ago, but didn't post it as the parts aren't formatted correctly for some of the instrument. But looking back at it, it actually sounds like a higher quality version of the original, and I'm proud of it. So maybe you'll get some enjoyment out of this as well.

BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG THANKS to Shadoninja, master arranger, who arranged this song for piano per my request a while back. His arrangement served as a great help to make this.

While I like the enthusiam put into this, labeling as an orchestral arrangment is not quite accurate. This is more of a chambe ensemble, as an orchetra usually features a full string section in addition to the winds, brass, etc. A chamber orchestra is strings plus few other instruments, so I think it can be better worked into that form.

Also, A Bass' lowest note is E1 (E under the staff for them), and while they can have drop tuning to the C below that, your lowest note has them playing a low B. While it is possible (but rarely used), it's generally good practice to use it very sparingly when you do.

Also also, why is there a violin part in the bass clef? It looks as if that's supposed to be for a cello, Is that clarinet part supposed to be a bass clarinet, because that is too low for a standard Bb Clarinet.

I do like the arrangment, very Mozartian in approach, but it looks like you need some more practice with orchestrating; though it's become apparent to me that you know what kind of sounds you want, and it's lead you in a positive direction.

This is from the bonus Animal Crossing-like RPG that was included in Professor Layton and the Last Specter. There are a total of nine pieces from this bizarre yet charming RPG, and I think this is easily the best. It has no official title, and after deliberating between "Main Theme" and "Title," I chose the latter, as it clearly distinguishes where the song plays.

I had a lot of fun with this simple waltz piece, and I hope people have fun learning it.

How about something like "London Life: Title Screen" or "Title Screen (London Life) and subtitle "Professor Layton and the Last Specter". I don't think it's correct to put "London Life" as the game, since it's just the mini-RPG-minigame of a bigger game, don't know if I'm explaining it right.  :-\
Awesome arrangement, btw.  :)

Hmm, no I get you but it's actually a different game that has nothing to do with Last Specter. Think of it as two games in one package, like how Mario Bros was put with the Super Mario Bros Advance series. At the title screen, you select whether you want to play Last Specter or London Life. It's not even included in the European releases, and has a totally different staff than that of the actual game. So I hope you understand why I listed it like that :/

And thank you, it was far easier to make (and to play) than I expected

Yeah I see what you mean, but I disagree with the "two games in one package" statement. While I agree that Mario Bros. from the Advance series is actually a full game that released before it, I wouldn't consider London Life as a standalone game, instead I just see it as an extra, not that it was released on other platforms. And yeah the staff is different but I don't think is really relevant with this. Well, in the end is the same I guess, both options could be considered correct right?  :)

This arrangement is three firsts:
1. The first song I've arranged from this game.
2. The first arrangement from this game on the forums.
3. The first song I've arranged from a 3DS game.

This song is lovely. I recommend you listen to the original, because the piano can't do the string part justice. It's a very pretty piece, fun and lively but also very lonely. There's something lovely and sorrowful about the way this piece spins around and around.

Anyway, it's a really simple waltz arrangement that should be fun to play as well, so have fun with it.

I know the Layton soundtracks by heart, and the only thing I would possibly see as being similar in Curious Village is Deserted Amusement Park, and that's only because it's a waltz. The town theme and everything else in that game have totally different chord progressions/themes, although all of the games have a decided French/European sound. Maybe that's what you were referring to? :/

This is also my first sheet that I think looks close to 100% professional and could be played by a group with little to no confusion.

It's a handsome sheet, one quick thing with the arrangement itself.

The strings should be:
Solo Violin
Violin 1
Violin 2
Violas
Cellos
Basses

Yes, you could argue that there's nothing wrong with the way it is since you don't break any ranges, but if you want it to be played by a string section, the Violin 3 needs to be a Viola part, and the CB 1 should be the Cellos.

I will definitely make those changes, thanks for the information. I had the two double basses as cellos originally, but changed both when one was outside the range.

Yeah, I can't help but notice that your typical string section in your original comps are composed like this too. Is there any reason why?

Mostly because I've had no formal training and therefore until very recently had no idea how a string section is set up.

This is one of the catchy songs it plays in the background on the anime. It's a fun piece, doesn't sound as good on piano but relatively simple and very fun.

Also I forgot to format the title and don't want to reupload it. Deal.

HEY!!! why the fuck haven't you told me about this??

Great arrangement - I actually started on an arr. of this song some time ago, but i never got around to do much on it :)
The only critique I have is the at last measure, because the melody is a bit wrong here.
Also, wouldn't it be better to title it as the original Japanese title "Yareyare Oioi"? I mean, there isn't exactly any official english names on the soundtracks..
But really, this thing is amazing! awesome!

Yeah that's probably true. I have them saved as the literal English translation on my iPod. I can change the name if you want.

And yeah it's nowhere near as good without percussion. It's ridiculously catchy though and I think I did fairly well for the piano's limitations.

Don't bother changing the name if you don't want to.
You did well for a piano reduction! It was catchy even without the percussion

This is one of my favorite arrangements I've ever made. It's my favorite piece from Miracle Mask, "Monte d'Or: City of Miracles," arranged for a full orchestra. I have included two MP3 files of the song if anyone wants it on their iPod--one contains no percussion (I think it sounds a bit more elegant without the random bongo drums, but it's also nice with them).

Please give this a listen! Even if I notated the MUS entirely incorrectly (I'm fairly sure most of it is correct, even though the instrumentation may be odd), I think it sounds beautiful and I'm rather proud of it.

Finale is wonderful, but it's unforgiving and takes a long time to learn to use. The ending was so I didn't have to rewrite that slow section again, mostly, but I didn't think it was overly abrupt.

Excellent. I really appreciate you doing this for me. It turned out very nice. The only thing I find questionable is your "poco rubato" and later "rubato" expression markings, as the actual piece doesn't use much rubato until the ritard at the very end, which you correctly signaled as a ritard. It's probably fine, though, as it will only have the pianist put more of their own expression into the piece.

Thanks a LOT for this, Jompa. I've been meaning to finish it myself but I'm glad you did the second part for me (which was definitely the more difficult part). Thanks. :)

Probably my favorite piece from the game. Anyway, in order to make it a piano solo I was forced to move the main melody an octave higher. It still sounds fine. Other than that it's perfectly accurate, however strange or awkward the chords might sound that's how it is in the original XD Or at least, I think so! An oboe cannot play below Bb under the ledges, and and oboe is rarely used at that low range anyways - if you change it into an english horn, which basically is an oboe tuned in F, then there should be no problem, as the range the oboe part demands fits perfectly for the english horn.

The bass clarinet is an instrument that can play from the C, one octave below the written middle C, and up as good as into eternity (but there is this unofficial rule of not writing above the Bb over the ledges - which you do) - the thing about the bass clarinet is that it is not made to play the high melodies, its role is very similar the tuba's and the baritone sax's.
My point here is that one is not supposed to give a melody like that, or anything in that kinda register, to a bass clarinet, but the register you have written it in is actually ideal for a normal Bb clarinet. It couldn't be more perfect.
I suggest changing it into a normal clarinet.

Even though I don't play strings and percussion, I still wanna pick on this:

The timpani part is weird, there are usually two timpani being used at a time, and the normal maximum is four - but to play what you have written, one would actually need eight timpani! I don't know what you think about that.
The timpani part is also a bit high some places, but that really shouldn't be a problem as long as you have eight timpani.

The contrabass is at one place very high - the only problem this would cause, is the sound - but it is being pizz'ed, so it shouldn't be too big of a problem.

I don't really see why you chose to use four cellos, I mean, the higher parts in Cello 1 & 2 would probably fit better if played by a viola - and like with the contrabass, the cello doesn't exactly sound best in the heights. But of course, that's your choice.
I also feel a bit sorry for Cello 3 - he doesn't seem to get much to do.

This arrangement will not be subject to critique, because I don't intend to do anything else with it. It took me a half hour, I was experimenting with Finale's percussion soundfonts and nothing more. If someone wants to use this to make a clean version, be my guest, but for now I just enjoy the sound of it.

THIS one, on the other hand, I would love to see some critique concerning. I enjoyed making this, as awkward as the time signature is, and hope that everyone enjoys this arrangement as it is my best arrangement from the PMD series thus far. (Which isn't hard COUGH COUGH)

I haven't played Explorers of Sky, nor have I heard the original piece, but this is good.  Aside from the awful Finale playback, I like it a lot.  The subtle dynamic changes add a lot of texture.   And the pan flute is one of my favorite instruments ever.  The only thing I would suggest is not changing the time sig on measure 20; it's not worth it.  Confuses things more.

 But nice job!   :D

Updated versions of "Title Theme" from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and "Monte d'Or: City of Miracles" from Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask.

Changes to "Title Theme":
-Changed the rhythm grouping in the right hand of measures 11, 15, 16. This is only an aesthetic change.

Changes to "Monte d'Or: City of Miracles":
-Changed the final note in the right hand of the final measure from Fx to A#.
-Formatted the measures so that the piece would fit in four pages, making it more convenient for the pianist.

If you haven't yet looked at the soundtrack to Level-5's new crossover Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, I would do so. I am bummed about this game having no plans for an American release, but I must say the soundtrack is excellent. Nishiura's orchestral interpretations of older themes, as well as great new material, make for an awesome album.

This one is quite reminiscent of the Monte d'Or theme, while slightly more historic. I really enjoy it and I hope you like my arrangement, even if it is a bit simple.

I included an MP3 because I think it's a great arrangement to listen to--I worked hard on it, and I think I did a very good job. I didn't include a midi for that reason, and I didn't include a PDF because I figure that on the off chance anyone actually wants to see the piece, it's going to be someone who has full use of Finale.

I was taken aback by how much I loved the anime Penguindrum (thanks Jompa!), and since I couldn't find any decent sheet music for its score, I made an arrangement of this short, lovely piano piece.

Enjoy, everyone!

Post by: SlowPokemon on August 19, 2013, 06:50:19 PM
Trust me on this. It's right. The nature of the chord dictates that it's a D#, not an Eb.

Post by: FireArrow on August 19, 2013, 07:48:46 PM
I don't mean to turn this into a debate, but I don't quite understand, are you trying to keep accidentals away from the dominant?

Unless your dealing with chords, my understanding of accidentals is that flats indicate downward motion while sharps indicate upward motion (at least, according to my counterpoint book.) Notating that as an e flat would be telling the player "we're going down a half step" while a sharp is just confusing. If there's some theory rule I'm missing, please tell me.
Title: Re: SlowPokemon's Arrangements--NEW Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon (August 18)
Post by: SlowPokemon on August 19, 2013, 07:51:42 PM
Hmm. Well I'm using it because it's a tritone chord.

A tritone in A is A-D# not A-Eb. Just like how a C tritone is C-F# not C-Gb. The fourth note is raised for that chord, the fifth isn't lowered.

Post by: FireArrow on August 19, 2013, 07:58:18 PM
Oh, I see! Gee, that's kinda trippy, you have to see that chord (wouldn't that just be A diminished though?) with only two of the notes there. I'm impressed, good job!

Post by: FireArrow on August 19, 2013, 08:01:56 PM
(double post cuz im coll)

Wait a minute, what's the different between a tritone chord and a diminished chord, because A diminished would be notated with an Eb.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like it was a hard question. It's a great way to see how the guys at the top come up with stuff. That's why I do it too! :D Thanks for answering. :)

Two updated Last Specter arrangements for you today, one of which is completely reworked!
[NDS]Professor Layton and the Last Specter
A Quiet Afternoon - [ZIP] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/c0aeufnyzwzyt2o/A%20Quiet%20Afternoon%20Piano%20Solo.zip?dl=0)
Misthallery's Many Canals - [ZIP] (https://www.dropbox.com/s/2cmco3rikfg040j/Misthallery%27s%20Many%20Canals%20Piano%20Solo.zip?dl=0)

"A Quiet Afternoon" has simply been edited slightly and fixed for formatting issues, but "Misthallery's Many Canals" was completely redone from scratch since I really need a quality arrangement of this piece and my original was so lacking. Enjoy!

I like the new arrangements! A lot! But, only Quiet Afternoon I wish to mention today:

(https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1111.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fh475%2FBespinben%2FProfessorLaytonQuietAfternooncorrections_zps72250d7f.jpg&hash=3dd986b22dcdfb72e165cb187d07b1340a730566) (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/Bespinben/media/ProfessorLaytonQuietAfternooncorrections_zps72250d7f.jpg.html)

This is a formatting change I thought you could implement. I feel this distribution of the measures better reflects the overarching hypermeter (that is, 4-bar phrases).
You'll just have to make the page like 75% size and widen the systems, but that's no sweat!

Another thing worth considering is that, after listening to the original song (very cute, btw), I think you could make contrasting senza pedale and con pedale sections, from m. 1-18, and m.19 to end, respectively. This would better reflect the addition of the harp backing starting at m.19. (Really doesn't have to be that way, but just an idea that would incorporate that).

Ah that's a good suggestion about the pedal markings but I don't think I'll be implementing it as it would stray farther from the original piece. The pedal isn't a substitute for the harp.

I also won't be changing the formatting as it's already on two pages without being so cramped, and I don't think it makes the sheet difficult to read at all.

However I did notice that I put my repeat sign in the wrong place in the original arrangement so I wihave to update the files anyway, haha. I made this arrangement a couple years ago and I didn't change very much except the formatting yesterday. If/when I submit it to the site, I'll look at it more in-depth.

I'd try not to go below the 85-80%. Keeps it from getting too tiny.

Great arrangement!
First: There are still Pno. markings in the files.
Second: Measure 45. You don't need to take my advice or anything, but I feel that changing the time sig is unnecessary there. I booted up my copy of the game, and there isn't really a break that warrants a rest with a fermata.
It's pretty good otherwise.

Thanks! That damn Pno thing gets me every time, idk why it's necessary to remove it. And you're right, I agonized over all of the timing stuff since the intro and ending are sort of played in direct correlation with what's happening on screen. I'll change that.
