Title: No .mus option?
Post by: Dudeman on May 03, 2011, 05:56:24 AM
I use a program called MuseScore for composition, and it doesn't support (or make) .mus files. Can I still use it?

you can export a midi file and someone else can import the midi into finale.

If the base is any higher than a middle C everything gets messy. :S

I meant that. :P
Usually. Most MID's I look at that have high bass' make them jump up to the treble.

NinSheetMusic requires a .mus and a .mid file for submission.

Can a midi file be transferred into a .mus file in Finale somehow? I've never used it.

Yes it can. Make a MIDI and anybody can change that into a MUS for you.

finale takes midi data and converts it to notation. sometimes it's clean and other times it's a garbled mess.

Then it's up to a very nice person to clean it up for you. :P

Yeah, it transposes MIDI and XML files into MUS.

I'm not sure of anything else.

XML? I didn't know that... but now I do. What a valuable piece of information.

People will probably be willing to do that if you just post midis into the submissions threads and explain your situation.

I'll be willing to help with a few, but I can't guarantee I'll be able to do them all or in good time.
Just let me know what it's called, what game it's from, send me the midi,
and I'll see what I can do. (If I can't finish one, I'll let you know so someone else can take up the torch. :P)

I also can't guarantee that it will be that clean, because I only have finale notepad 2008, but it will be good enough for the site. :D
