I guess according to this Dell is ranked lower, though in a recent report I can't find at the moment Dell was ranked higher. Lenovo is consistently around the top when referring to the Thinkpad brand. Ideapads have been meh-ish though.
Well, my macbook is a little older than the report (like 2009).
I'm also one who wants something aesthetically pleasing (I grew up around rich kids in Orange County... it's operant conditioning... ugh) or I won't want it, so there's that factor.
I'll see what happens once I enter the market for a computer, sometime in 2012 -- who knows, I'll keep this macbook until grad school/until I get a car.

You can find Pokémon badges on Ebay. They made badges back in the day for Pokémon leagues participants. Last time I checked Ebay for kewl Pokémon stuffs there were people selling some badges... and they look really nice.

You could make them yourself right? I used to paint Styrofoam but that was actually a bad idea for lots of reasons, I don't have the tools to try much else. But badges seem to be doable with clay, then baking it and gluing a pin on the back.
Now well. I thought those looked a little like a 3D model (but a darn good 3D model at that), but suspension of disbelief got me.
And I've always pictured Poké Balls as matte rather than shiny (being made of painted metal) anyway. Still a good idea, though.
I have a plastics molding lab... maybe I can make a Pokéball mold or something and make some High Density Polypropylene or Polystyrene Pokéballs!

A real piano? Digital pianos do count, they do most things better than uprights at least. And smaller grands have a fair share of issues so the only good "real piano" option is a good (concert) grand, which costs lots of money. Strangely enough, the first piano I ever played is a Steinway Model B, does that mean I was once a true pianist, or have I fallen from grace?
Since I change houses in the summer, I have to use a keyboard instead of my usual upright. I've noticed that that usually means I don't play piano for the entire summer. Then again, my keyboard is about four octaves and has very hard to press keys, and I'm sure there's better models out there. Oh, far much so, but to blindly say those of us who don't own or have access to an actual piano aren't real pianists is nothing more than insulting.
I don't have an actual piano either, but there's no room in my house for a lavish grand piano, and there's only so much space in my room if I wanted to get a larger keyboard.

You can't compare a digital keyboard to a "real" Piano, Upright or not.
The digital keyboards keys don't have any weight (apart from Yamaha's Avant grand), and the dynamics are not so well done.
You can actually learn playing Piano by playing in a keyboard, but you'll never learn everything, like how to control the weight, the dynamics, velocity, repeating rapidly the same key, etc...
That's actually not true. The majority of higher end keyboards have nicely weighted keys. Hell, even on my old keyboard, which was over 6 years old, you could easily control dynamics. My new keyboard plays better than my grand.
Apparently, sunny and I are the only people on NSM who have ever played a proper keyboard.
They're cheaper, more manageable, and can fit through the fucking door of your house and any decent one plays very similar to an actual piano. Only a total snob would completely rule them out as an exceptional substitute to a real piano.
Guess you're calling almost all the music community total snobs. Weighted keys =/= real piano. My teacher won't even take students who don't have a real piano.

But really, there's nothing wrong with keyboards these days. Sure, if you're a pianist, it might be in your best interest to eventually own a real one, but you shouldn't rip on the guys that can't get their hands on one. (last time I checked, pianos were expensive and musicians were poor xD)

About real being more expensive than e-keyboards, I think that is not clearly true.
Last year I bought a real piano (finally ffs, afte studying for 12 years), a Yamaha B1, and it cost 3200€. Before that I wanted to bought an Yamaha Avant-grand, the cheapest one, and the price was 6000€...
If you want to be a Pianist for profession, without doubt, you should buy a real piano.
If not, well, you have plenty of choice out there!
Also, I don't know if that exists in the US, but here, if you buy a Yamaha (new) and make a contract with them, whenever you want, you can make an upgrade for the next model (like, if you have a B1, you'll upgrade to the B2, etc) just paying the difference between them, which is actually very cool and really worths the money invested.

Any controller will work, you just have to have the right Wii (the newer models don't have Gamecube support anymore).
I'm such a swank here with my Kawai upright. I do want a grand though (and we have the room, just need to convince my parents of that). They're much nicer sounding (sound goes into the room instead of into the wall or into your face), the action's faster, and dammit they just look better in a room 8)
My main beef with digitals is that they sound and feel mushy. The keys are usually hollow plastic instead of plastic/ivory covered wood, the faux actions/weights make it feel like you're playing a truck instead of a piano, and the 2 small speakers don't give it the proper presence and intimacy of any real piano. The samples also tend to sound too clean. I've played concert-grand Steinways and Bösendorfers (the most commonly sampled pianos), and I can say that there's still some dirt in their sound that samples always process out.
They also don't really last nearly as long as real pianos do. One of my cousins still has the Steinway my great-grandpa bought in 1921. It's had some repairs made and some parts replaced, but it's still a more-than-functional piano. We bought a digital piano (a Kawai) in 2002, which started falling apart around 2007 and finally bit the dust in 2012. That Steinway has survived 90+ years of (moderately) hard playing, neglect, a broken leg, and occasional years of pampered care. The digital was played hard, moved across a room, and was left to sit in the living room for 4 years. Now obviously, there's many variables and differences here. There are plenty of pianos that don't make it 'til 92, and there are plenty of older DP's (10-30 years) that are still functional if incredibly obsolete.
All this being said, digital pianos do have their functions. Most acoustics, save for some computerized player pianos, don't have MIDI or any type of recorder. They're also not easy to move from place to place. Digitals also offer a variety of other instrument sounds built-in so you're not stuck playing a piano. And if I may be honest, I'll take a good digital piano over a bad acoustic any day of the week :)

Buy it if you are actually going to continue playing piano for a very long time and you would love to be a professional.

I do recommend 'Steinway and Sons'. yes always the best. And a more suitable piano because the Fazioli is more like a concert piano for big performances.
Others can be Yamaha, Overs (I think that's how you spell it) or Kawai. All a well-known and trustworthy.

The local piano dealer has a 10' Fazioli concert grand. Gorgeous instrument, but I doubt it'll ever sell. Even in the biggest mansions, it'll still be too big (rule of thumb, IIRC, is that the perimeter/10 is the max size of piano you can put in a room without it sounding like crap). While there are those crazies who put a Steinway B (7' grand) into a 10'x15' living room, a piano of any size needs proper room to really come to life. A spinet or petite grand will sound fine in a practice room or small living room, but it'll be basically lost in a larger room or concert hall. Likewise, a concert grand or super-big upright will sound wonderful in the concert hall or very large living room, but it'll way overpower the space and sound dead in a small-average sized room.
Steinways aren't exactly "home" pianos. My cousins' Steinway, even when they put the cloth and Hummel creche and oodles of fake snow and other decorations on the top at Christmastime, still resonates throughout the house without a problem. Most American (and Asian) pianos, even in the home-sized models, tend to be quite loud. European pianos tend to be much quieter, probably because more people live in smaller homes/apartments.
Yamahas always felt kinda boring. Not bad, but not inspiring or interesting. Not sure what an "Overs" is. Do you have a picture of one?
well yes Fazioli's are more for a concert hall...coz they are usually a concert grand.
I've got a Yamaha grand and it's still in very good conditions.

My phone is only 8gb, and all my music is in FLAC so I'd have maxed that out in like 2 seconds. So I just use Spotify. As much as I hate some of their business practices, it's hard to beat the convenience factor.
I'd love to stream, but I would hit my data cap way too fast, plus there are enough instances where I have service downtime (some shitty buildings, tunnels, etc) that relying on a network connection just wont work.
Not to mention the fact that spotify is missing a large portion of what I listen to ::)
Then acquire that music through whatever means you do and upload it to Google music and stream it from there.

For some people, listening to music simply isn't enough. They need to FEEL it.
Seriously, good headphones makes music sound soooooo much better. Plus, they're comfortable and durable. The real question you should be asking is, "Why do people pay hundreds of dollars for Beats?" Beats are awful, awful headphones.

This is actually accurate. For someone who's not into music it's just stupid to pay for headphones like that, but I would kill for a pair of really nice headphones simply because it means hearing the orchestra in a different way.

It is somewhat of a blessing, as being an audiophile makes for very expensive wish lists.

I have the HD595 actually which are the older model but I believe the same drivers. They are a fantastic set though you do need a decent amp to release their full potential. If you don't want to spend a lot I would recommend something like the the FiiO E10 or a cheap sound card with built in amp like Asus Xonar DGX.

There's a difference between a startup originating from experienced people in industry vs some recent grads :P
With some software products it's definitely plausible, but someone is jumping into a highly saturated market without any of the r&d or even resources that *any* successful high end brand has had, that's when I think it's justified to be skeptical.
They could be magic makers and prove everyone wrong, but every 'fresh entrepreneur' success story in audio has come from some very talented and experienced engineers who show their specific expertise rather than spew out exclusively marketing fluff.
Tbh they've almost collected 500k instead of the 250k they were asking in just a day so I think they will have money to hire experienced people and prevent this from becoming shit

I don't mean to sound discouraging, but then the chance of them failing to deliver the product is possible too...like all the failed kickstarters for games and still kept or blew all the money they raised :/ If you did fund them, you should find out who they are hiring, and make sure they're not just a bunch of random hipsters...
If they can pitch the idea to an established company to make the headphones for them, I think that would be better. They've probably raised enough money to be able to get the attention by raising the money so quickly. But I also suppose that the creators might not want to settle for their offers if they think they could make lots more by themselves XD

KS, you clesrly have no concept of how video game music is created.
So, they're created in some software with soundfonts for different instruments combined into music. You can compare this to how midis store the different voices separately and have playback based on the midi device (compared to something like mp3 which is just a straight reproduction of the recording)
I suppose there's a parallel there, but I don't really know if you're trying to reference that or just something else entirely.

The ride was really smooth and that engine has some power if you go on the freeway. Plus the Tach is special because it was inspired by the LFA.
And I am REALLY into the body styling. Once I get some money, I'm gonna go test drive it myself and see if I like how it drives with me behind the wheel.

I recently bought the 2016 remastered vinyl for Ziggy Stardust because even though I'm not much of a vinyl person (and even though I've heard the 2016 remaster tends to be a bad pressing with a lot of skips), I need some good, personalized wall decorations for my dorm room next year (and in the future, of course). If I had known this was coming out, I probably just would have waited, but... I'm probably still going to get it anyway. The gold disc looks so nice in combination with the album art. Given the low demand for the WiiU, especially nowadays, I wouldn't start the bidding any higher than, like, $150. And since eBay's a bidding site, it's better to start low anyway.
I'd start it at $0.99, but that's just me. Another slower way to go about it would be to put it for a reasonable buy it now price, then add the option to make an offer.
I think I'll try the $250.00 because my mom and dad thought it was not worth doing it through game stop because the would only do $170.00 and then I'll try selling my 18 wii games and 4 wii u games. Well there are a few more than that but some of them are in bad shape so I would not bother selling them.

Well I since we are gonna possibly sell the wii u we have to have a family talk about it because my mom says she likes to play wii fit sometimes but we do have our wii sitting around in our office. My dad only recently learned about my plan so he is making us do some extra chores around the house to earn money for it. The Splatoon bundle has (appropriately so) become a collector's item. Go for the two separately and you'll save about $100.

Breaking news! I got my mom to ask my dad if we could get a switch and he is ok with it! And we also ordered a joy con charging dock and splatoon 2! It's supposed to arrive on monday! WooHoo! My mom and dad want to see if we really want to sell the wii u before we change our minds, but thank you guys for your advice! :D

I had a yellow car before it totaled and standing out with bright colors actually makes it really easy to find your car in a parking lot.
Also, a lot of quirky looks sometimes have the effect of just making people happy. I used to wear a shirt with at least four bright colors on it like the car in question and for a start, this apparently made strangers somewhat more comfortable talking to me.
