Title: Erm... Is this guy stealing our music?
Post by: Clanker37 on September 23, 2011, 03:19:06 AM
OK so I found these vidoes of Pokemon Black and White music tutorials on YouTube and I noticed that they were very similar to the ones on NSM. Is this allowed or is it one of you people posting it?

Elite Four Battle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWO87_49M-o&feature=related)

Legendary Battle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp9dAKjfTm8&feature=related)

THEFT! I doubt it's anyone of us.

As far as i have explored, those are completely accurate to our sheets. I could probably message the guy and ask him to at least credit us for the content if you'd all like.

Eh, that's pretty rotten. He might as well just show a picture of the link to the sheets for his entire video.  xD

Even though I don't do video tutorials, I still credit the original source of sheet music... That's courtesy.  ::)

yeah the least this person could do is give credit where credit's due.

Has anyone written to him yet?

Doeet. It seriously sucks, now people may think that he actually arranged those songs.

I got on my brother's Youtube (because I don't have one :-[) and left a comment on each of those videos, plus I sent a message to him to give credit to the arrangers and site it's hosted on.

I messaged him, asking to give credit. Here was his response.
QuoteHello pumpyheart.

Now it's too late. There are too many videos.
I have no desire to look at nearly 90 videos, which Midi files are downloaded from ninsheetmusic.
And then add anywhere, who has created this midi file?
No .... sorry.
Also, I never say that these files from me. Others come to enjoy these pieces of art.
I will not and can not achieve anything with the videos.
In the meantime everyone knows that these are of ninsheetmusic.
But who cares? It bothers anyone.
In addition, demand nearly 50% of my commentators a Midi file. I give the Midi and add the name of the creator in a pm.
That's enough.

Nitro.
Yeah, a bunch of messages from the community around here will go a long way.

Jees, it's one thing to copy and not give credit. It's another to get caught and not do anything about it. Hating this guy a lot.

Just playing devil's advocate, but, what exactly would we gain if we got his channel banned? If anything, it's just going to sadden those who have come to use his videos. Sure, they should have come to Ninsheetmusic all along, but still, it's really not profiting us in any way if we banned him, other than for revenge.

If he doesn't modify his video descriptions within a reasonable time, I'll report him as well.
Plagiarizing music is wrong.

All I'd want is for them to credit the arrangers. trolling them won't do any good and could hurt NSM's reputation (¨That place is filled with trolls, doesn't sound like a place I want to be on¨). I think if we calmly and rationally explain the situation to them we'd have a better chance.

My favorite part of his descriptions is this: "You want the MIDI or SHEETMUSIC ? Subscribe and give the video a Like". Asshole, the MIDI and SHEETMUSIC is available here for free!

I just realized in the big quote that pumpy put up...

the english... not so great and you have to think a bit to comprehend it...

Sipan's Revenge?

But still, if things don't change soon, these videos will have to be flagged.
Title: Re: Erm... Is this guy stealing our music?

Lol. Sipan is known to for sure have at least one YouTube account. He also addresses members by their full username rather than using an abbreviation.

Quote from: Bespinben on September 24, 2011, 09:33:55 AMJust playing devil's advocate, but, what exactly would we gain if we got his channel banned?

Recognition, as well as references to here. He's plagiarizing. By not citing sources where they are necessary, he gives the impression that the arrangements are by him. They're not, it could be your arrangement for all we know! xD I haven't looked at any yet. And especially the "subscribe and like for midi and sheet music" pisses me off.

EDIT: WTF that IS my Route 4 arrangement! Imma message him, I recognize it because I accidentally put an inaccurate note in the arrangement. Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o4_nr8U2Vc) is the video, the wrong notes are at 0:35. That thieving son of a bitch.

Those One Piece themes are all from Josh's anime sheet music collection.

I doubt it's sipan, though.

He blatantly said that he will /not/ credit the arrangers or ninsheetmusic. Why, you ask (OH BECAUSE I HAVE ALREADY STOLEN TOO MUCH)

All he needs to do is edit the video description with a link to ninsheetm.us

Just dislike the video, spamming the wall with anything more than "Who is the arranger since I don't see a name anywhere in your videos? I would love to see more of his/her work." could sound offensive to random strangers.

Okay, I think it would be funny to host similar videos on NSM's youtube channel if there is one. If that's what people want to see anyway...the hard part's done already, which is actually having to arrange.

I have a different pan in mind regarding showing our arrangements through youtube.

Also, after talking to this guy, I believe I have got him to fix the problem. We'll see.

He stole my Kotone arrangement from HGSS and then labeled it under Lacunosa Town... then he changed it... that's how I knew it was mine!

Also, he stole some of our DPPt arrangements.

Well, we don't need to resort to that yet. Several of us have politely messaged him and asked him, and we're reaching some sort of compromise. Going and trolling all his videos is just going to make him angry. It doesn't matter much that you did, but we might reach an agreement soon anyway. ^^ btw, awesome piano + violin medley!

William Winter once remarked that "self-expression is the dominant

stir the idea themselves. They will then regard it as their own; they
will like it and maybe eat a couple of helpings of it.

Did this end up getting fixed? DICK MOVE says I.

Also it's kind of counter-productive to spam his inbox asking for recognition and also flag the channel isn't it? Seems like it would require one step at a time and flagging should be a last resort. Right now it's like "Hi can you please give credit?" and then FLAG FLAG FLAG.

I don't know if that made any sense.

Sounds to me like he's just some guy that likes game music and/or wants a bunch of youtube views.  He also doesn't seem to speak english very well.  Honestly seems harmless to me, plus you can't actually claim anything as the music is property of its respective composer and/or publisher.

If anything, do nothing but ask him if he would add credit from now on or something.  Spamming whatever crap some of you seem to be doing does nothing but say this community is a bunch of bratty kids.

I made a very respectful comment on his channel to another user who was glorifying the guy for his work and requested the "Battle with Dialga/Palkia" and "Battle with Giratina" themes. I said "hi wolfman *blah blah username*, these arrangements are actually from the community at www.ninsheetm.us! They've got tons of sheets and even have the *above listed themes* you were looking for! Check it out :)"

Comment immediately removed.

You can try to bother youtube with a flag or claim or something, but as we have no copyright to anything mostly likely nothing will happen.

Dickwads will be dickwads, there's really nothing you can do about it.
