So let's discuss younger us. Weird topic but it's because I'm weird. Let's start with stories.
When I was a young ETF and I would take a bath, I'd get out and get excited because I was shiny. After drying off I'd get pissed because I wasn't shiny anymore. So I'd get back in the tub. ...This'd happen about 5 times before I'd stop.
Lol...
So I was little, my grandma was showing me how to bounce a ball. She used one that resembled a small, reddish coconut (it was the size of a handball) and then let me try it. I did, just as someone was bringing over a pot of soup from the kitchen. It landed right in the soup -.- I remember my uncle yelling about it too but I didn't get punished for it.
When I was in preschool I discovered that you could hear yourself chewing food much louder when you covered your ears. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. So I told everyone in my preschool class. They also thought it was the coolest thing ever.
I used to write notes to my bigger sister when we were fighting and slip it under the door where she was sulking. The would always say "i hat u" since I didn't know how to spell and she is STILL bringing it up.
At first, I would always put my hand over the right side of my chest during the pledge because I thought everyone had two hearts, one on each side.
^YOU FUNNY AZN.
SO IN 1ST GRADE I DIDN'T DO MAH HOMEWORK AND MY TEACHER YELLED AT ME AND IT SCARRED ME AND NAO I CRY WHEN I THINK I CAN'T FINISH MAH HOMEWORK.
When I was a young ETF, one day my mother was discussing our ride somewhere and she said 'beats walking'. So I looked out the window with a perplexed look upon my adorable face and said 'I don't see any beets walking...'
I remember virtually nothing from 6th grade back. idk why.
^Cuz you was in a coma.
First time really young me met my brother, me pissed on him
So.
Basically, this thread said travel through time.
Now I boost a thread from literally 12 years ago.
Time Travel.
Anyone who was here in 2011 plz respond to this.
Well...
I was alive then.
And I was...
Eating puffs and babbling. Probably. (I was one year old in 2011 XD)
Actually... that's the age I pretended to be... since I'm a time traveler from 2007, I can mess with my own age, too. In fact, I may or may not be 13...
All jokes aside, I was actually 1 then and I'm 13 now.
I really don't think anyone from 2011 is still active though. Except my mom. Wait, she was just a forum lurker. OK, forget I ever said the last two sentences, and this one, too.

Some of us are still here. We appear every full moon 3/4 waning gibbous.

I have spoken to one of the fabled old ones. crazy
These forums are a veritable time capsule.
I can time travel without the forums.

I, too, am rather surprised that you have attracted the attention of one
who must be at least 30 years old from
2009.

Well... I shall play some songs that you arranged until everyone becomes tired of me.
Which would happen rather quickly, because sometimes I am unable to make my low & whistle register sound decent....WAIT YOU HAVE LIKE A HUNDRED ARRANGEMENTS
Do they take cheese its? For the offerings?

Hi.
WAIT WHERE DID YOU—
Kind of nice that the forums are still breathing. Maybe they'll come back in style sometime.
I've been here the whole time.
Also, your username is cracking me up because last time I submitted a sheet, I put it in A# minor and everyone freaked out about it so much and got so mad that they denied the sheet purely on basis of the key signature.

That's funny, I've gotten so used to playing songs with an insane amount of sharps and flats that key signatures don't bother me much. (Then again, I play the flute.) just replace the key signature with a bunch of accidentals, that'll make it much better XD
I actually got my name from a joke
I keep choosing pieces with a lot of sharps hoping it'll make me better at reading them but actually it just keeps being hard, lol.
I did the Beethoven F# major sonata, a bunch of Ravel. I even played the Bach prelude/fugue in D#minor from WTC 2. And I've written a few pieces in F-sharp major/minor. But it's just a difficult thing to read.
Maybe the Chopin Barcarolle is next.
Oh my, those look hard O_O How long have you been playing piano for?
Yeah, songs with lots of sharps are tricky for me to play on the piano. (Although I just started trying like a few months ago lol.) My right hand naturally follows the key signature, but my left hand doesn't. "Note interpretation," says the LH I know, it's "rhythmic interpretation", but it's the best thing I could come up with right now
For some reason flats are slightly easier for me to read. Maybe because the majority of my band music has flats. (They even transposed the main theme of Spring to Eb instead of keeping it in F. Like, what???) Once you get to E# and B# or Fb and Cb it's just like NO, PLEASE JUST USE NATURALS, THANKS.
Edit: I just found the topic you were talking about XDDD A# minor is perfectly OK
I'm not sure why, but flats are just easier to read. Something about the way our minds work. A lot of people say that string players find sharps easier, but not the ones I know. Haha the string players I play music with all complain endlessly when I write something with a lot of sharps.
I teach music theory as a GA right now and getting students to understand that sometimes it needs to be E-sharp and not F is almost impossible. Not because the students aren't bright, but it just goes against something we perceive as logical (dare I say...natural).
Edit: I didn't say I played them WELL. Haha. I've been playing since I was 9.

slow I don't recall that I voiced anything about it but I was on your side the whole time for this

I guess NinSheetMusic is finally ready for A# minor.
(this is your cue to re-submit the sheet)
So you weren't ready for me before???
[/joke]
Anyway, yes, it's a noice sheet, and we need some crazy key sigs.
oh hi bds

That's odd, because I've peered in violin books and most of the songs have sharps... shouldn't they be used to it? ???
Yeah, before I understood music theory I had no idea why E#/B# etc. exist as well. It'S aLl AbOuT tHe InTeRvAlS (also nice pun there lol)
XD but the fact that you can even play them is still pretty cool

Lol. I am willing to admit at this point that in the real world with real people who read music, it was an exasperating thing to do, and I did know that to some degree when I was writing it. Always kind of had a mischievous streak. That being said, doubling down to an absurd degree when confronted with a perceived injustice is probably just my personality.
Also, I have to say I've always been on the side of music and art as something like "if you can do it, you should" and I think that's why that whole thing was so touchy for me at the time, to see that thing I made just because I could (honestly putting in more thoughtful and careful work than would have been required for B-flat minor) rejected based solely on the difficulty of the key signature. It's one of those situations where neither side was ever going to cave, which is why I eventually just backed down. Something about that specific sheet and the reaction to it prompted a real feeling of core philosophies and ideals being threatened, on my end and (I think) the ones raising objections. I can't explain the strong reactions all around otherwise.
Wha-
More fabled old ones.
huh.
Guess I'll need more cheese its.
XDDDDDDDD
And I guess I have to play some of this guy's arrangements on the flute too...
