Question:
Which Zelda game is the most fun?
Option 1: Link to the Past
Option 2: Majora's Mask
Option 3: Skyward Sword
Option 4: Twilight Princess
Option 5: Ocarina of Time
Option 6: Wind Waker
Option 7: Other (Please specify in comments)
So, I was thinking of buying a Legend of Zelda game to play. Considering I don't know very much about them, I would like your advice on which game to get, so I don't end up buying the worst game in the series.
You forgot WindWaker, which I think is an excellent game.
The only one I've played from start to end and owned myself, mind. Better get around to play more Twilight Princess now that I'm home for the holidays and have access to a Wii.
OK, I added Wind Waker. Sorry, that was my bad. Thanks.
I highly recommend A Link to the Past.
There are 9 games absent. And another 4 that I don't count...
The best 3D game is Wind Waker, the best 2D is Link to the Past or Minish Cap.
I'd have to vote for Link's Awakening. No other game gives me that much nostalgia.
Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker are just awesome. Link's Awakening is probably the most fun, as it has the most jokes and pranks and oddities. But Majora's Mask is fun by collecting masks and helping people out (well, the whole world out). So there you go.
You may think I am crazy, but I just don't enjoy Ocarina of Time.
Quote from: Winter on December 23, 2011, 04:01:18 PMYou may think I am crazy, but I just don't enjoy Ocarina of Time.
WHAT!?!
That and Super Mario 64, are pretty much my main sorces of nostalgia!
*Sigh* Those where the days... :'(
SM64 was a blast.
SM64 was meh.
Best Zelda = either OoT or SS.

^This is true.
I think the Cd-I games were pretty darn good, If you ask me
Quote from: Roz~ on January 06, 2012, 09:06:21 AMOkay.
SM64 WAS MEH.
No. No, it wasn't. Super Mario 64 is a fantastic game. Quite honestly, Ocarina of Time is kinda meh imo. I don't really care that I'm pretty much alone on this opinion.
Your not alone-Oot is quite low on my list of favorites...
I also think it's pretty overrated. Majora's Mask was superior.
I liked majora's mask better than oot, but neither were amazing, imo. Windwaker, Links Awakening, The original and Skyward Sword are my favorites.
You like happy colorful games ^.^ with the exception of alttp which everyone likes
Wind Waker was boring. Just like SM64 was.

What really turned me off of Wind Waker was that the first dungeon thingy, you had no weapons. This is an action-adventure game, not Metal Gear Solid!

^this. Plus I hated sailing. I really don't like the game. I finished it 'cause it's Zelda, but it took me more than a year to do so.
I bought a gamecube for it :P
I'm sorry, but how are you guys choosing Skyward Sword over Link To the Past, Ocarina of Time, and Wind Waker?
I must've mis-clicked, cause I meant to pick MM
I picked other cause I'd get flamed if I picked any one game.
So the CD-i games are my favorite now c:
Lol, you have a philips cd-i? Or are you emulating it?
Yeehaw!

Skyward Sword is an excellent game. I like it as much as I like ALttP and OoT.
But SM64 was amazing!
You just cant say that to my main nostalgia souce!
I wont allow it! >:(

Ya me too, but hemad. I mean, everyone tells me that my favorite game is lame, and Idgaf because it's my favorite game.
And you actually gave me arguments as to why you think the game is good, the other dood didn't. he's just raging all over the place :P
As for me, I played the game and just didn't like it. It has good music and nice levels, but meh.
What happenned to triforced being kefka? lol.
^what?
Someone else voted for Wind Waker? I guess this mean I'm not the only coll person on this forum anymore. 8)
I voted for Wind Waker :D
Well, it looks like Skyward Sword is the game to get for me. Will I need to know the story-lines of the past games to get the plot of this one?
Supposedly the first in the timeline, so nope.
Definitely didn't see that Wind Waker was up there. Wish it was possible to change your vote >.<
Zelda the four swords cos it is the only Zelda game I played. :P
Wind waker is such an amazing game I think it's one of the best of all time, possibly better than Ocarina of Time. So alive.
I have not played Skyward Sword yet.
Most of my friends like Majora's Mask the best.
I voted Wind Waker cuz it said which one was the most fun to play...I liked Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask stories the best, but thats not what it asked.
WW ftw!
Skyward Sword is pretty awesome, too, though..
I don't have a wii, so I"ve never played it before :(
Quote from: Kman96 on April 04, 2012, 02:04:26 PMI don't have a wii, so I've never played it before :(
GET ONE. NOW.
If you got a wii just to play Skyward Sword, I think it would be a worthy cause.
Absolutely, I agree. Skyward Sword, in my opinion, is the best Zelda game ever made. I pre-ordered my SS game and got the Wiimote with it. What?! I don't mind bragging. ;)
It's not like you're the only one with the wiimote, I wouldn't even call that "bragging".
Okay, then I'm not bragging.
Man, its just so hard for me to be full of myself, you know? ;D
SKYWARD SWORD FTW!
but i also liked twilight princess :>
9 people have apparently never played another Zelda game
Personally I don't see how you don't vote for OoT. That game was possibly one of the best games ever, let alone the best Zelda game. The only one that may contest is MM.
SS was a great game, don't get me wrong. WW was too, but can you seriously say they're the best? I don't think so.
Well everyone's entitled to an opinion Wilco. My opinion is that SS is the best Zelda game I've played so far.
I liked OoT, but I don't think it was the best. Sure, it changed the Legend of Zelda series forever, but I much prefer Wind Waker, Link's Awakening, LoZ, and TP.
Ocarina of Time and Link's Awakening are the best Zelda games that I have played so far.
I got the Oot 3ds when it was released...but I'm still not exactly interested in it...i donno y. :/
and i still havent finished it lol
I can never decide the answer to this question, it's always between Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword. Majora's Mask is also really fun, but way too hard.
For those of you who have played Ocarina of Time, is Navi really THAT annoying? Like I know people find her irksome, but does she like ruin the whole game?
She really isn't. I mean yes, it is annoying when she tells you the same thing over and over that you already know, but she kinda grows on you. I always though the constant "HEY!" "LISTEN!" was kinda funny and reminded you that you weren't alone on your quest. Emotional bonding aside, I can't imagine not waking up to this every morning.
Quote from: KefkaticFanatic on December 23, 2011, 02:17:01 PMThe best 3D game is Wind Waker, the best 2D is Link to the Past or Minish Cap.
This.
Sheikah, have you ever actually used that as an alarm?
Looks like I haven't posted here, but voted. So I might as well post now too on the LoZ-games I've played (or not (using ze wiki-list))
The Legend of Zelda (July 1987) Haven't played much of it, just a couple of dungeons. Not really something I've planned on returning to in a rush
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (December 1988) Not really my type of game, got bored of it really fast
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (April 1992) Gonna wait with playing until I can emulate it properly on something other than my pc, or until I find the original-game
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (November 23, 1998) I just rushed through it once when I was younger, read the 3D-part near the bottom instead
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX (December 31, 1998) One of my absolute favorites. I've beaten it several times already. The ending was so sad and beautiful :,(
The items was really funny though
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (October 25, 2000) Really fun of what I've played so far. Still hasn't fully completed it yet. I think I'll wait for the 3DS version until I will do.
The darker take on LoZ really suits this game, and the masks makes it less repetitive
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (May 14, 2001) One of my favorites alongside Seasons. Compared to LA, I think the Oracle-games got funnier items and more to do overall. I've beaten both games 2 times, and I play occasionally on the third and last part
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons (May 14, 2001) I like Season a little more for it's items and gimmick (the time-shifting in OoA can get annoying sometimes when trying to get somewhere). The item-upgrading took a lot of my time to complete, I had to sit with pen and paper in my bed while playing. Good times...too bad it chased away so many other players with the tricky password-systems and constant season/age-changing
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (March 24, 2003) Still haven't finished it, which is a shame. I miss the overworld of other games here, which is my biggest complaint, else, a wonderful game
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (January 10, 2005) Same here as with ALttP. I haven't played much of it, but I really want to get a good emulator, so I can finish it on something other than my PC
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (December 12, 2006) I actually really loved this game, a lot. Seeing back on how I enjoyed the different Zelda-games, TP gets higher and higher whenever I'm thinking about it. Not that much to do in the game after finishing it, except for Cave of Ordeals which I also finished. But overall I really loved the mood of TP and the more realistic-feeling of it. I felt more like I was a part of the adventure in this game. The controls was also stunning for this game, not too much motions, not too little. And btw, I really loved the enemies in this game
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (November 20, 2011) I'm still kinda twisted about it, I really loved it while playing, but I don't feel as attached to it afterwards like I was to, say, LA and TP. The story in this game is my absolute favorite of the Zelda-games. Come to think of it, the enemies felt kinda boring. Might be why they didn't include something similar to Cave of Ordeals
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (June 19, 2011) I'm not that huge fan of OoT, I think there are much better games in the franchise. But if I would recommend a Zelda-game to start with for someone new to the series, it would probably be OoT. It feels like a good start until you move on to the other games, but like I said, not my favorite
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition (September 28, 2011) lol...multiplayer is so funny...
To sum it up now afterwards: TP, LA and the Oracle-games are my favorites. Then SS/MM
Well, I finally got off my lazy butt and bought a Zelda game: The original, for NES. So far, it's a challenge, but I like it. Thanks for your recommendations, guys!
For me, it's a three-way tie between A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, and Ocarina of Time. The little bit of Oracle of Ages makes it into 2nd place. Wind Waker was good. These were the only ones i've played. I'm biased.
Apparently I'm still the only person on the internet who enjoyed sailing to different islands over the regular over world. And the only person who didn't find getting the triforce pieces annoying.
Quote from: SuperFireKirby on June 19, 2012, 07:03:41 PMApparently I'm still the only person on the internet who enjoyed sailing to different islands over the regular over world. And the only person who didn't find getting the triforce pieces annoying.
SFK I'M WITH YOUUUUUUUUUU!!!
*HIGH-FIVE*
*SUPER-ULTRA HIGH FIVE!!*
*Sneaks in five.* Wind Waker was great. And those tasks weren't that boring. It was actually a challenge (missing the chests and having to fight off the resulting octos).
That sea was just so... vast. Second to Minecraft, WindWaker has got the biggest Overworld of any games I've played. Exploring the 49 islands was just so interesting. The entire ocean appeared to be full of mysterious mysteries. Every island seemed to hide a secret of sorts. The music was great too. And the Triforce quest? Hey, the game usually chases you around from plot point to plot point, then suddenly, it basically says: "Go explore! Have fun! Oh, and look for these things while you're at it."
I truly enjoyed that. Sailing around from place to place, stumbling into caverns or hauling treasures up from the ocean floor, and maybe finding a shard from time to time. In my eyes, WindWaker was a fantastic game.
Wind Waker was soo amazing.
Best 2d is Phantom Hourglass.

Ew, no. This is just so....wrong.
Link to the Past was BY FAR the best 2d Zelda, as well as one of the best LoZ's over all. It is absolutely legendary, whereas PH was kind of mediocre.
well...we could talk about the lastest news on the ALTTP remake for the 3ds!!! :D
Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda so far, and yet this announcement completely caught me off-guard.
They had talked about remaking ALTTP so this news wasn't really surprising to me at all.
I pity those who didn't play Link's Awakening blind. Such an amazing (and LONG) experience.
Also the Oracles are amazing. I can't wait to have them in eShop.
Link's Awakening blind? Elaborate please?
As in, without knowing anything about it going in. Like if I were to play the game right now.

So I have been considering, I haven't played Breath of the Wild yet, but I'm going to get it, however, I'm also planing on getting other games too. So, i would like your guy's recommendations and give me ideas of what I should get. FYI, I already have The Legend of Zelda, Adventure of Link, and Twilight Princess.

conversation like this probably should have gone in the general Zelda discussion thread
