Now, I obviously didn't write any of these only arranged so if I forgot to put the composer's name on the sheet I was being lazy...but we all know who wrote what for the most part.

New Awesome Project

Ak! OMFG! Hi! Haha.
Yeah...that trumpet part...I guess I might have a thing against trumpets...maybe because I sit infront of the lead trumpet and he's all up in my ear...I bet only one of those screamer trumpets in jazz could play that. I think the French horn part is either barely cutting it or completely way off the top.

Well I happen to be a said screamer trumpet and I can...mabey do about 80 or so % of the trumpet part so it's not that bad...Unless you made it EVEN higher then ONLY a Profesinal (Who cares for spelling?!?! XP ) Trumpet player.

Well, keep on going with it...this is my last year in jazz band because violin players can't get in at the college level...and I'm more happy in classical...not that I don't love jazz.

Well, certainly I would if I had ever played the game! ^_^
(That isn't treasonous is it?)
I haven't had a chance to play the game yet...I could look up an MP3 and work off it I guess.

whoa. just stumbled across this topic.
I have nothing analytical or smart-sounding to say, just that I wish I had had these arrangements throughout middle/high school during all the time I was in band/orchestra/jazzband/symphony orchestra/etc.
I always wanted to suggest playing video game arrangements in the ensembles, but I had neither the sheets, nor the balls.
Sigh.

Again, amazing work.

I suggested to my teachers and they said and I quote "All right sure." Well that's because my Middle school teacher likes Video games (and is finaly going to be my new High school band teacher which makes me REALY excited for next year) and my other teacher just says all right cause she's open to ideas. But I just keep forgeting to print the parts for my Brawl arrangement. >______> when you REALLY think about it there really isn't time for them to actually let us play the songs because of preparation for concerts. and on a sadder note our concert band has the attention span of a 4 year-old and is as loud as a fricken banshee >_______<, (why me?)
Title: Re: Random Goldfish's Video Game Orchestrations
Post by: vgmfreak on April 27, 2008, 10:46:15 PM
This is awesome! :o Well the only one I listened to was Green Greens which is my favorite tune. It's overkill lol, but awesome still. Man I wish Brian was here so we'd have 2 best orchestrators working together. Maybe Sirus too, but he's more of a string orchestrator than a general orchestrator, but it's still 3 heads better than one at least!

If you guys do come together, than I'm really looking forward to the "big project" whatever that may be (hoping some kind of suite).
Title: Re: Random Goldfish's Video Game Orchestrations
Post by: random_goldfish on April 28, 2008, 01:10:05 PM
Haha...well...I guess we can see how something of the sort could come about.

Post by: MetroidHunter26 on April 28, 2008, 02:50:38 PM
Hey that's a cool Idea Vgmfreak! I'm only good with brass sections (or at least SECTIONS of music. Not realy great in the huge project arranging) but If you guys (and gal ;) ) ever do want to arrange a awsome song SIGN ME IN! ;D
Title: Re: Random Goldfish's Video Game Orchestrations
Post by: vgmfreak on April 28, 2008, 03:38:34 PM
Awesome! Maybe we can have people be in charge of certain instruments that they specialize in. Like Sirus can oversee the strings, you can oversee the brass section to make sure it's all correct, and Brian and random_goldfish will be like the top overseer (sp?) in charge of the whole project. Maybe split up the suite into sections and by that each section will be assigned to the person in charge of it.

It goes something like this from top hierarchy to bottom hierarchy. 1. Master Orchestrator (in charge of overseeing the entire project), 2. Co-master orchestrator (2nd in command; in charge of overseeing that section of the project), 3. Instrumental specialists (in charge of making sure instruments are notated correctly based on their speciality), 4. lower class peasants I mean arrangers (those who have no experience in orchestrating, but just want to help out arranging). Not part of the hierarchy are the master orchestrator's advisors (in charge of double-checking the notation for errors; you must have very good ears and be able to pay attention to detail! Another plus is if you understand some orchestrating as well).

Now what suite shall we do? I'm gonna beg brian to help out so be patient guys!
Title: Re: Random Goldfish's Video Game Orchestrations
Post by: Sirus on April 28, 2008, 03:46:44 PM
That would be cool  :D :D
we'll have to contact brian though -_-
BTW
i love the order of hierarchy
Title: Re: Random Goldfish's Video Game Orchestrations
Post by: Brawler4Ever on April 28, 2008, 04:11:03 PM
To do this, the orchestrators will need to meet regularly to compare their parts, to see if the parts work together... That could be difficult.

P.S. I'm a lower class peasant I mean arranger.
:D
Title: Re: Random Goldfish's Video Game Orchestrations
Post by: random_goldfish on April 28, 2008, 04:18:55 PM
Well...I will be good at overseeing the project for any detail...note wise and technique...I'm a string (violin and viola) and a wind player (flute and sax) so I know the mechanics of most intruments (Brass being my dumb dumb area...but still can handle it)...I know the practical playing range of every instrument and finger pattens (if we're going for reality on this). This should be very playable so it won't be just for out listening pleasure.
Title: Re: Random Goldfish's Video Game Orchestrations
Post by: MetroidHunter26 on April 28, 2008, 04:25:21 PM
So when do we all begin ;D I think we should do some compolation of video games of mabey METROID :P and of course Legend of Zelda and Mario. mabey add Star Fox and Kirby aw heck all of Nintendo's mascots :P XD! This will be cool! and may I suggest making it a concert band arrangment (I'm happy to say it's for my band XD LOL J/K i'm not that bad) but lets do something!
Title: Re: Random Goldfish's Video Game Orchestrations
Post by: random_goldfish on April 28, 2008, 04:28:42 PM
I'd really prefer full score though...and (I know...gasp) I'm not really familiar with Metroid music. Zelda is a must and I was actually about to do a large project with Zelda.

hmmm...
Legend of Zelda is a must
Super Smash Bros Melee/Brawl- meh... Brawl we should wait on
Mario- heck so many songs in this series are fun to play!
Star fox is a good one too

theres always the possiblilty of one major orchestration
like Star Wolf, Hyrule Temple, Ike's Theme (which i cant do as of right now XD), lenghty songs of such

I was going to arrange the Hyrule field from Ocarina of time (Dawn theme included) since that song is already so long...so it would be a full piece and not just a theme that repeats itself mindlessly.

I would so use it JUST to annoy all the people who don't pay attention in band :P but coolio! I had prior arrangmets of Metroid but...I deleted them T______T

Yes and sadly I am one of those people >___> but were not as bad as the saxes and clarinets and especialy these two guys (1 plays tenor and the other Ocasionally plays oboe, barri, or Clarinet) but they bug the crap out of my teacher. >_____> luckily 1 will be gone next year.

fif...teen....trum. pets. :| O..M..G. We only have 5! well not five me and my 2 friends are the better ones..(The other 2 don't even try >___>) and theres only about....okay we have 11 or so trumpets ALL together but not in the same class room (Sadly it will be like that next year with over 7 NEW Trumpet players from the middle school) so lets see 5-1(YES!)-1(Senior DANG it he was good!)+6(Juniors This year)+7= HOLY CRAP! 17 trumpets in ONLY ONE BAND CLASS!
T__T next year will be a pain.

(Sorry for rambling but BACK ON TOPIC)
When will we work on this arrangment I think we should do a Nintendo medly + Sonic and Metal Gear songs just to add some spice -___-, just sayin'

Meh, I have no clue...I guess I just read some books on composing and leaned my chords...I learned how to read music after I learned how to learn music by ear. In Irish fiddling, which was my first music deal, there is no sheet music...just your ears.
