Title: Majora's Mask Discussion (With some polls sometimes.)
Post by: Zunawe on August 07, 2012, 04:04:48 PM
Random poll. Didn't want to put it in some other thread and get it off topic. It might turn into a random poll of the [period of time]. Anyway, what's your favorite Majora's Mask mask? Any and all masks are game if they can be worn by Link during the game.

Deku Mask.

Poll up. You were quick to find this.

Anyway. Favorite mask because it's fun, Fierce Diety. So overpowered, but what are you going to do when you have everything done?
Favorite mask for usefulness, Bunny Hood. I'm impatient.
Favorite mask in general, Bremen. Even thinking about it gets that march stuck in your head.

Not even halfway through the game, but.. right now the Bremen Mask.  The Great Fairy mask scares the daylights out of me.

I only got the Deku and I used to have the Great Fairy (I don't know where it went, but it's not on the menu) Are most of these from sidequests?

Title: Re: What's your favorite mask from LoZ: Majora's Mask?

You can't wear (or even have in your inventory) Majora's Mask. You obtain it and the rest of the game is cutscenes.

@Spyro. Every mask except for the three transformation masks and four other masks (Gibdo, Captain's Hat, Garo's Mask, and Giant's Mask) are completely optional. Some are very easy to get (for example the great fairy's mask is just getting the stray fairy again after getting the Deku Mask) and others, like the Couple's Mask, take forever. I highly reccomend getting all the masks. That is, after you finish the game without Fierce Diety.

One other thing, I really love the Stone Mask. Once you've gone through the Pirate Hideout without it it's just fun to walk around and slash people with the sword. It would be in place of the Bunny Hood for me, but I don't really use it except for that place.

well thats not what the topic says, nor the poll. >:(

it should say "favorite WEARABLE mask in Majora's Mask." then it would be accurate. because Majora's Mask is still a mask, and it has mask feelings, too.

Agreed.

I chose Goron Mask, because of it's S-SMOKIN' Barrel roll.
Zora Mask, 'cause of AWESOME gameplay and sweet guitar.
And Romani's Mask, 'cause I love bars!

Also, to Kman, read the last sentence of the original post.
"Any and all masks are game if they can be worn by Link during the game."
It's said that since the topic went up.

I'm not sure why I put this in general. Feel free to move it.

Best easter egg masks: Undead-related. It's awesome that they made them do what they do. Don't say anything for the sake of people who haven't finished. Just know to wear the undead masks in the castle.

Currently playing Majora's Mask all over again just to vote in this poll xD All I have left to get are Giant's, Gibdo, and Fierce Diety's masks!

Voted for Stone mask because standing in front of enemies without them knowing you're there is the best.

Then you definately have more masks to go than you say. . . Well, I guess it's possible to get the couple's mask before the great bay. . . Wait, no it's not. You have to finish GB before you can enter the canyon. Yeah, you have at least one more mask than you mentioned.

Anyway, there's a room in the fourth dungeon where those dumb darkness balls that you first see in the forest temple attack you.

Nope. Once you have the hookshot, it's possible to get every mask in the game except the Gibdo, Giants, and Fierce Diety's. I got the hookshot, went to Ikana, did all that stuff, and returned to Great Bay later.

Huh. I thought you had to beat the GBT and get the Garo's mask to get to the canyon. Anyway, unless there's something blocking it once you get inside, it's possible to get the Gibdo Mask without the Song of Storms. Put on the Stone Mask, put a bomb outside the door, and wait for her to come out and you can walk in.

I'm fairly sure you can kill them all.

You know what's awesome that I figured out on my last playthrough? To complete the bottom of the well, all you need are:
5 Magic Beans
10 Bombs
10 Deku Sticks
1 Bottle of Bugs
1 Bottle of Milk (put a bomb inside the tube thing in the forest section of Terminia Field)

Then you go through and unlock every door you can. That gets you the big poe, which is the second hardest thing to get (milk is longer). It takes about half a day on slowed time to get the treasure at the end.

These votes are spread so thinly. Deku mask is winning with 4 votes.

But you need to go through a whole other half of it to get the milk. And that requires things like the blue potion or  extra bugs or something like that.

Not too terribly excited, though.  My cousin's been terrorizing me with stories of how it's the hardest dungeon in the series he can think of.  And Snowhead came very close to driving me insane.

game? yes. Series? debatable....

Zunawe, I think we have our next poll.... :3

Yeah, I find it hard to believe anything would beat the final floors of the Tower of Spirits.  That one isn't even enjoyable.

Lol. Okay. Then maybe minibosses.

Gyorg isn't that difficult overall, he's just really annoying if you can't manage to dolphin jump back onto the platform.

That's what I'm struggling with.  Even while a Zora, you can only mve up at like a 45 degree angle, and so I always crash into the pillar before I make it.  Then I get eaten.   >:(

Lol so funny story about that. I didn't figure out I could hold A to swim until the middle of the stone tower temple. I thought you could only tap A repetitively to get those intermittent bursts. So the only way for me to rise was to sit in one spot and float to the top. Gyorg was pretty much hell to fight-- running away for 15 seconds in the water to avoid getting eaten.

Odolwa:
Horsehead is to Odolwa as Zelda II is to Majora's Mask.

Goht
Fun, but not much of a challenge, especially with Goron Link.

Gyorg
Irritating; not as bad as the temple, though. :P It's hard to find out what you have to do without a guide... but all of Majora's Mask is like that, isn't it? :P

Ikana King
Difficult only because of the many frustrating phases and King Ikana's attacks.

Twinmold
Hard even with the Giant Mask.  :-\

Majora's Mask, Majora's Incarnation, and Majora's Wrath
Fierce Deity's Mask.

Odolwa is just. . . I don't know. There's barely a pattern, and he really doesn't have a great defense. Really it's just running around with a shield, shooting arrows, and spin attacking him to death.

Goht is fun. He's not hard enough for actually using a fairy, but it's at least challenging sometimes to get up to him.

I don't have a strong opinion about Gyorg. He's just a giant fish. . . Shoot, dive, shock, dolphin, repeat.

I hate the Ikana King fight because there's nothing you can freaking do about anything if he detaches his head! Is there any way to dodge him/hurt him? It just seems cheap that he has a move that cannot fail in any way.

Twinmold isn't hard if you have a decent life gauge. The only thing I find hard sometimes is keeping my magic for long enough.

Majora stuff is fairly simple really, it just requires time.

Is it just me, or do the bosses in this game seem oddly disconnected from the temples? Odolwa kinda makes sense, but a giant mechanical bull for the ice temple. . . And you only use the fire arrows to initiate the fight. Gyorg is related, but you don't use the ice arrows at any point. Twinmold is. . . I don't even know.

"Yay! I got light arrows to use for half the temple! The boss must be really cool."
Later:
"It's a. . . a mask. Okay."
At boss:
"Soo. In that whole dungeon about flipping things and using light arrows and such, the boss fight is a random desert scene where I turn into a giant and attack giant sand worms. . ."

While swimming through the water, or even just treading water, you can press R to put up an electric barrier at the cost of magic. It's much faster than sinking, attacking, surfacing, and swimming again.

Odolwa is frustrating because he's too strong for a first boss; unless you find a way to get more heart containers (which is pretty much impossible at that point in the game?), he'll kill you easily if you make any mistakes.

Ikana was creepy. I died many times on him... only to be rewarded with a melancholy song and a bunch or even creepier statues.

Twinmold made me mad; I eventually just gave up and got a bottle of Chateau Romani... which involved another series of sidequest...  >:(

The Twinmold fight was interesting; I don't mind the fact that you don't use the fire arrows on Goht because the battle was rather fun; Gyorg, though...

^I've never died on Odolwa. Basically I just hold my shield up and sidestep if he moves toward me, roll when I'm no longer locked on, and shoot when he's not attacking. Then a bunch of quick spin attacks (move in a circle and press b) because it's the fastest way to deal damage in Majora's Mask (unless they didn't fix the crouch stab glitch. I have yet to figure that out.)

Just you wait for the Stone freaking Tower freaking Temple freaking fairies. The mechanics of the temple just make it so frustrating, because you have to go back in after you've beaten the boss. Also, did you get the one in the boss key room that's in a pot next to the hands? I keep forgetting about that one.

EDIT: New poll. If there's something you want added, I'll be fine with it.

Tip on the Goht child, if you didn't already know this, as soon as your spikes are out, you will move automatically. You DO NOT have to continue holding forward. It took me way too long to figure that out.

Wow. That dude is really good at deductive reasoning! It was an interesting article to read.

So, I've been playing through Majora's Mask, and I must say, it it by far my favorite video game of all time. The characters alone make the game, and then you add in magnificent music, epic battles, and an insane amount of side-quests. Then the main story happens. It's just too good.

As for my favorite Ocarina Song in MM, mine was the Oath to Order. So solemn, so important, and so beautiful.
