Yeah I know :P Miror bs theme is different for Pokemon xd, so it hasn't been arranged yet

I like the colosseum one better :) fits his personality more, also, which measures were they in the relic forest theme? I wanna get that one checked off xD

I can't remember, and I'm not on a computer so I can't look again. I'll check it off for now, it wasn't that bad.

Post by: Uraziel on August 25, 2012, 11:36:26 AM
Ok, should we include greevil's theme from XD at some point, because that was just epic... other than that... I would say take out some of the ones that are just sound effects like the pick up item ect. what do you mean by virtual? also, mt. battle theme is in progress, ill take that one
Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Bubbles on August 25, 2012, 11:38:57 AM
Virtual is a song from the soundtrack, but was never actually included in the game. We can take it out if necessary. Also, yeah the pick up items things should go too, but some of them are short but memorable so I'll keep a few. How big is the Pokemon XD soundtrack? If its not too bad and has a lot of songs from colosseum that are reused we could make this a joint arrangement project.

Post by: Uraziel on August 25, 2012, 11:41:12 AM
We could, but I personally think we need to get at least 3 more people, and about 5-10 more of those in green before we add anything else because honestly, that list is scaring me right now. some of these are quite long and require a whole lot of instruments which will take a few weeks to arrange at least
Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Bubbles on August 25, 2012, 11:43:25 AM
Some are longish, but they don't have to be multiple instruments. Trust me, now that I have the list of songs in front of me it'll be a lot quicker for me to arrange? There's only about 30 or so songs to be arranged, and a lot of them have the same rhythm/tune
Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Uraziel on August 25, 2012, 11:47:27 AM
true... i may have some of these stored in a file deep in my computer which would knock off about 10 or so from the list... ill take a look

Who is doing the cipher admin theme? i have a copy of one that I wrote a long time ago, it just needs editing if you would like to use that.

Thats right... its not bad, the rythms are all correct but one and some of the chords seem... off by a bit but other than that its pretty good... i have a few more but they all need some major editing, should i fix them and upload or what do you suggest?
Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Bubbles on August 25, 2012, 12:35:53 PM
Its orchestra right? Sure, go ahead. I might take your orshestra arrangements and switch them over to piano, so players have the choice of solo or in a group
Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Uraziel on August 25, 2012, 12:45:54 PM
Ok that would work... I have all of these below i believe that just need to be edited

Agate Village
Cipher Administrator Battle
First / Friendly Battle
Story Mode Normal Battle
Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Bubbles on August 25, 2012, 12:54:22 PM
Ok. Agate Village Normal battle have already been arranged, but yours are different since theyre more than just piano. Since Shado is doing the Cipher Admin battle, all I need to convert is the Friendly Battle theme. When you're editing the mistakes, also change them to follow the format found here (http://www.ninsheetm.us/smf/index.php?topic=481.0)

You know, we could make the official thread switch to Pokemon Colosseum, if you would like. I can remake the front post. We shouldn't have a whole bunch of Arrangement Project threads.

hahaha, thanks a lot xD, I had a lot more knowledge of this then and I am now just getting back into it. I just fixed the format on relic forest as well... agate village needs editing on the notes and the cipher team im just going to send to shado and let that disaster be his problem :) I will go deal with the friendly battle now

The MIDI of this song on Vgmusic sounds alot like your arrangement, particularly the ending. The way the percussion is written out messily with 1 layer further suggests MIDI importation.

I can understand using a MIDI for reference if you're making a piano arrangement, but what is the point of importing an orchestral MIDI into Finale and calling it your arrangement?

(...if you didn't do any of this, I apologize for coming across harshly, but the evidence seems to indicate my assertion)
Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Uraziel on August 25, 2012, 02:30:36 PM
I did use the VG as reference (the ending and percussion mainly), however i can assure you that the rest of it is mine, I couldn't hear some of the chord structure from mp3's so I took a look at some other versions and settled on that one to base it off of, making the changes necessary to fix it, as well as editing in my own touch. I'm not the best arranger, I am much better at editing as I tend to find mistakes. As I am doing with the Agate Forest right now. I am right before when the strings come in, some of my own, some from already written midis, trying to come out with the best possible result.
Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Bespinben on August 25, 2012, 02:41:00 PM
Ah, ok then. That's understandable. It's just, when you're on a site dedicated to making piano transcriptions of Nintendo music, I can't help but raise an eyebrow at something like this, considering it won't ever go onto the main site. To me, it'd just feel like wasted time.
Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Uraziel on August 25, 2012, 02:45:16 PM
Thats where bubbles comes in, other than all of the other help they are providing to this, they are going to translate what I have written to the piano. I would do all of this myself, but I am a violist and I rarely write for piano because it doesnt turn out as good. again referencing agate village. I am using the original intruments...ish (substituting harmonica for violin) and then borrowing the percussion idea from the VG track, the rest will be mine. I am just at the midpoint.

Post by: Uraziel on August 25, 2012, 02:51:46 PM
Never mind, now taking out percussion because it is refusing to work  >:( Sorry its taking so long, its acting funny and i basically wrote it and then had to re write it due to a system error so I am almost back to the middle.

No, there is a right hand and a left hand in this piece. Normally, theres the treble clef for right hand and the bass clef for left hand, but in this case the notes are all in treble clef. It basically makes the notes higher and easier to read, to put it simply

Ok, It just seemed like you were missing a lot of notes, which may have lead to the interesting chord structure.

Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Uraziel on August 25, 2012, 06:03:44 PM
How about you take lines 5 and 6 and play them as the opener, you can take the 3 whole note tie and just use that at the beginning and then pedal it. Then when the melody comes in, play that on left hand and then take line five, bring it down an octave combining it with line six and put that as the left hand part. Then when it changes again, of course play the melody on left hand, then you can figure out the harmony based on what i have written. Did you follow all of that?
Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Bubbles on August 25, 2012, 06:25:09 PM
I think so, but why play the melody on the left hand? The melody as in the flute.

And I originally put the whole note ties in there but it didnt sound right
Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Uraziel on August 25, 2012, 07:15:12 PM
oops, im sorry i meant right, as i have said many times before, im a violist so we play everything with our left hand xD the whole notes didnt sound right because there dissonent with the other notes but trust me on this. If One Summer's Day can do it, so can I/We!

Post by: Bubbles on August 25, 2012, 07:34:12 PM
One Summer's Day? And I Play violin as well as piano so I know what you mean, but the sheet music for the same is basically the same. Though I think viola sheet music is different.....or is that cello?

Oh right. I remember I tried to play an orchestra piece that had piano and viola and it didn't sound right.

Post by: Uraziel on August 25, 2012, 07:53:47 PM
Yeah, we are the only instrument played in modern times to use alto clef, not even the alto sax uses it xD but yeah, I do tend to use alto clef in some of my arrangements just because its a lot easier for me, sorry about that just for the future.

How about if one is different from the other, separate the colours.

Song Title - Piano Arranged, No Orchestra
Song Title (Orchestra) - Piano arranged, Orchestra In-Progress
Song Title (Orchestra) - Piano In-Progress, Orchestra arranged
Song Title (Orchestra) - Piano and Orchestra In-Progress.
Song Title (Orchestra) - Piano and Orchestra arranged

Song Title - Piano Arranged, No Orchestra
Song Title (Orchestra) - Piano arranged, Orchestra In-Progress
Song Title (Orchestra) - Piano In-Progress, Orchestra arranged
Song Title (Orchestra) - Piano and Orchestra In-Progress.
Song Title (Orchestra) - Piano and Orchestra arranged

This might be a bit confusing though.

Just one quick thing... I think it would be best for either shado or bespin to arrange the final battle thing, not because I dont have faith in either of you or myself but because honestly, thats the toughest thing to arrange in the game.

We have beastly arrangers on the site other than Shado & Bespinben.  And yeah, I have heard the demo.  It seems like the only hard part would be figuring out the chords.

That's not the username

Also 'sound effects,' AKA fanfares, are often really important.  So I'm not sure what to tell you.  It all depends on what you and Bubbles want in there.

I distinctly remember having Wes steals the snatching machine on the list :o. It must have gotten deleted somewhere when I reorganized the catagories. Ill add it. Also, I kept some of the fanfares except the 10 different sounds for the PDA mails, which are basically short cell phone ringtones that dont have much of an actual music/rhythm in them

I actually don't know, since I never did multiplayer battling on that game. The thing I notices though was that the Vs Battle Mode songs sound suspiciously like a battle theme from R/S/E, but I cant place which. If they're exact copies except for small extra instruments, I don't want to re-arrange them

I believe it is in A minor, just from playing around with the first 10 seconds (anyone feel free to contradict me on this).  If you have the piece on your computer, windows media player can slow it down to 50% speed.

@ Bubbles, I found a couple hours in which to work on.  Game Demo is around 30% done.  Don't expect it anytime soon tho, cuz school.

You can't slow down a Youtube video directly. However, there are other methods available. Are you familiar with the program Audacity? It's a free audio editing program, one function among many of which allows you to adjust the tempo of the song. You'll have to import an mp3 or wav of the song into the program though, but that shouldn't be a problem since you can just use a Youtube to mp3 converter (google it).

So here's what you need to do:
1.) Download Audacity
2.) Use a youtube to mp3 converter on the song you're transcribing: http://www.youtube-mp3.org/
3.) Import the song's mp3 into Audacity and have fun!

Transcribe! allows you to change the speed of audio without changing pitch. You can set loop points, compute tempo, receive guesses on what notes are being played, set markers for measures and beats, and use its virtual keyboard to arrange without having a piano nearby.
It looks like this:

Slowed down the song with windows media player. Figured out the notes alright, but now the timing is getting me. Gonna try some other programs that you guys suggested, but I'll probably just end up switching to an easier song (I got the first 2 measures of phenac city.)
Title: Re: Arrangement Project (Pokemon Colosseum)
Post by: Uraziel on September 07, 2012, 05:32:12 AM
Just subdivide the measures in your head, if its in 4/4, then instead of counting 1,2,3,4. count 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and, splitting the measures into eight notes, or even sixteenth notes.

And we all know how well NSM arrangement projects go.  I think we should honestly put up a poll, see what the community wants to do, and then let popular demand of the arrangers carry the project.  Otherwise we just have people getting bored after two weeks and the project dying.

Well, thank you! That's what I had been saying! Finally someone who gets the point.  :P
