What are games that are so phenomenal you tear up at?
As the first game I ever beat, Super Mario 64 DS carried a lot of nostalgia for me. I was just sorta sad the experience was over.
And I'm sure you all know I'm a ridiculous Zelda nerd, (hence username) so almost every Zelda game I've played has reduced me to tears. Especially Wind Waker. So much emotion in the end. I was sobbing.
What about you?

Mother 3.
inb4 Slow
The professor Layton series.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Darkness, I teared up a bit.
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, that game...that game was so sad...
Good god, Unwound Future broke my heart. Along with Last Specter. And Mother 3. And the PMD games.
I cry every time in the PMD series, no matter how many times I play through it. Even when I watch playthroughs online :P Zelda Twilight Princess's ending was sad too, but when my sister walked into the room it kinda ruined the moment
Kingdom Hearts, Because of Riku boss battle.
Also, A PMD Game has never mad me cry tears of sadness (tears of anger though)

Yep, Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, and Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask all made me cry.
999 and Virtue's Last Reward also had some sad spots...I may or may not have teared up... >_>'
PMD is and will be the only game series to make me lose a tear. :'(

PMD games and Prof Layton games made me sad. Also Phoenix Wright and FFX ending... D:
Other games probably made me tear up as well, but I don't remember them at the moment.

Mother 3.
Oh, you bet. ;)
It takes a lot for a game to make me cry, physically. But more often, I am crying on the inside. PMD definitely was the closest I've gotten to crying while playing a video game. (For Mother 3, I actually did cry.)
Metal Gear Solid 4, Shadow of the Colossus, and Final Fantasy 7 all seem tear-worthy to me, but I have yet to play them, so I can't speak from experience.
And also, Sephiroth did not kill Aerith. Cloud did.

I think I said something regarding this....oh yeah:
Quote from: SuperFireKirby on July 18, 2012, 09:53:05 AMShadow of the Colossus probably has the saddest ending of any game in existence.
Professor Layton games, Mother 3, Okami and Okamiden. :'(
Every game in Spyro franchise that didn't appear on the PS1 makes me cry on the inside...and that ain't positive
I normally don't cry over games, but they can make me sad at least. Most RPGs that let a character I like die makes me sad

Do it, beat the campaign, then we play spartan-ops.
Terranigma
PMDEOS, but that goes unspoken.
Oddly enough, Halo CE is one of the only other games that have come close to making me tear up. I don't even know why.
Portal (and sequel) made me tear up in laughter at one point.
Shadow Of The Colossus [PS2].
Also, Pokémon RSE's Soundtrack, nostalgic beautiful thing.
The game itself isn't actually too sad, but the ending theme from Mega Man X5 made me cry.

shadow of colossus for me as well

CRAP, GAMES HAVE NOW MADE ME CRY, GODDAMMIT BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL, MOTHER 3 AND SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS.
Has anyone played a PC game called "To the Moon" by Freebird Games? If not, I challenge you!
Think you cried a lot with PMD2, MOTHER 3, or Professor Layton 3? Then try "To the Moon" and you'll know what "cry a lot" really means!
I still sob a little when I remember the ending. :P
Still, thanks to the developers for the tremendously funny scenes too. If these weren't there, the game would really be unbearable.
Uh yeah sorry but nothing will make me cry more than PMD2. Just hearing the music makes me cry
^You've never played Mother 3 then. ::)
Nope :D But Im 99% positive Im getting Professor Layton 3 tomorrow so EXCITED

Agreed, PL3 was just so sad. I'm also sad that they are not making any further games with professor Layton after the next game. So sad :(
I almost started crying when they got to the hospital...maybe Im just a wreck already
Still not sure how people cry over Pokemon games. Never played PMD but I still don't think I could take Pokemon seriously enough to cry over it. As for Layton, Level-5 is pretty brilliant at the whole sadness concept so I don't doubt they could make me shed one single manly tear. Or many.

I think you were serious, although you added a bit of sarcasm in the end. That post looked like to me that you weren't happy for FSM saying you have wasted your life.
What I mean to say is that there is a difference between taking things seriously and being serious yourself.
Okay, you guys seriously need to calm your tits. It's easy to see that both FSM and CLBGM were joking.
Don't take everything so seriously, gosh.
Games are sad for me only if I don't know the ending, so Shadow of the Colossus, yes. PMD RRT/BRT, no.
Also the Ending to Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky was exactly the same so no creativity points or tears there.
Quote from: SocialFox on December 25, 2012, 03:17:53 PMAlso the Ending to Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky was exactly the same so no creativity points or tears there.
But it's different because you were going to be lost in time and diedered forever! In PMD 1 you were just returning to your the human world! But in both cases you were leaving your partner, who you had stood with, fought with and had stood by and fought by you, through out your shit when at any point they could've gone, 'fuck this shit' and walked off.
So yes, the are kind of the same :P
Quote from: Roz~ on November 08, 2012, 06:04:13 AMAlso Phoenix Wright and FFX ending... D:
Trials and Tribulations was so sad...and FFX ending is the saddest FF ending I've seen so far. I should play that again since I didn't really get it. Then there's Tales of the Abyss, Phantasy Star IV, 999... But didn't really cry during any of these(TotA gave me pretty tough time tho). Only time I've cried over something fictional was when I read the last book of The Three Musketeers. It's been over 10 years and thinking about it still makes me feel bad WHY DIDN'T IT HAVE A HAPPY ENDING GDIT.
Replaying Virtue's Last Reward, the Tenmyouji ending made me cry AGAIN, even though I already knew what was going to happen
FFVI ending made me cry but not tears of sadness.
I still haven't finished FFX yet but at least I got past Seymour Flux.
HAHAH ALL THE PROFESSOR LAYTON GAMES! YES~
and I also cried at the end of Twilight Princess
I thought Tales of Phantasia(GBA) was really sad when I started... But then you see clues throughout that give you hints that it'll get better.
But can I ask, is there a game that makes people cry???
I mean why would a game make you cry???

Never cried with a game? maybe a sad ending or something? I feel sorry for you.
Ooh, did I mention Okami/Okamiden? Okami is more of "oh god that's so sweet" tears, and Okamiden is like "NO WHY" tears
I hardly ever get emotionally involved in games, but Miles Edgeworth had me on the brink of tears this afternoon:
Contains plot-related events
During "Turnabout Reminisce," after Kay learns that her father's been killed, the sadness of the whole situation hit me, and I almost lost it. It was just hard thinking about her predicament... :'(
Quote from: wolf on February 06, 2013, 06:26:15 AMBut can I ask, is there a game that makes people cry???

well generally, gamers would cry if it's a very happy/sad ending...or something happened to one of the main characters.
And sometimes...gamers would cry because of achievement ;D

Paper Mario: TTYD, Bobbery's wife :'( The music made it more sad too...
QuoteBut can I ask, is there a game that makes people cry???

I don't think people would drop a tear if they were at a sad point in a game... Maybe a chill down their back or their nose starts tingling (that always happens to me, am i weird?) But I don't think anything is too tragic where the person actually cries.
Or... do you guys actually mean you LEGITIMATELY cry during a game? I don't think I've ever done that before.
Legitimately cry :P
I've cried a few times in PMD Gates from sheer adorableness
p sure I've probably posted here before but here's a list of games that have made me tear up to date (alphabetical order):
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
Hotel Dusk: Room 215
Persona 4 Golden
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future
Professor Layton and the Last Specter
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy
Zero Escape: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors
Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward
i cry in love live school idol festival when i dont get a full combo
Closest I've come to crying was in that certain part in Fire Emblem Awakening.
I almost completely lost my shit in Persona 4 right after
Spoiler
Dojima got in the car crash and for a second your unaware whether he's okay or not.
Persona 4
Dojima's social link is a pretty big tearjerker in general, imo. Plus, it's normally the first social link that uses "Reverie" as part of the social link, and it isn't ridiculous in the wat it's used.
