Title: PMD Remakes

This should be a thing.

(And happy 9th anniversary Blue/Red Rescue Team!)

God we already have three versions of that game though, I'd rather another new 3DS PMD if anything

I kinda thought the same thing too Slow, haha! Why remake a remake?
(It would be cool though if they gave Rescue Team an "expansion" though, like with Sky. Too many unanswered plotholes!)

I mean don't get me wrong whatever the next PMD is I'll get it haha. Also it should be noted that "primal" forms of Kyogre and Groudon have nothing to do with PMD and should not be taken in any way as being a hint or relationship.

Speaking of such, I wonder if Dialga/Palkia will have Primal Reversions in the potential future Diamond and Pearl remakes (or if they'll just give them Mega Evolutions).

BDS, idk if you realize this, but there are no guarantees that we will even see remakes of those games, seeing as you can still play them on 3DS. Granted the graphical update would be nice, but tbh there wouldn't be much merit in it for GF. Not a lot of people liked Gen 4 as much as the previous games. In fact, it's most commonly at the bottom of people's rankings of each gen.

Am I saying that they won't make Gen 4 remakes? No, but I wouldn't set my hopes too high. If anything I'd rather they make Gen 1 in the new style (as unlikely as that would probably be.)
Title: Re: PMD Remakes
Post by: Nebbles on November 25, 2014, 02:53:43 PM
sorry but no, we don't need ANOTHER gen 1 remake

I doubt we'll get much of anymore Pokemon remakes. All regions are available on the DS, pretty much.

I just had an idea for an "expansion" of Gates to Infinity.

Spoiler
When you're partner wishes you back to PokéEarth at the Hill of Universal Order, was I the only one to say NO to going back, just to see what would happen? I was quite surprised to find that the game didn't pull a "thou shalt say yes" move. Unfortunately, it made me feel like a total jerk. It didn't dawn on me until now that if you say NO, you essentially KILL your partner, because the cave was collapsing and your partner was putting himself in mortal jeopardy by making the wish. There are actually crashing noises when your "vision" withdraws after saying no, to boot.

So what if they made a special episode about it? You're a heartless jerk, never to return. Your partner's dead. Hydreigon revives himself (being a spirit) and tells everyone the grim news. Everyone loses hope. The Bittercold returns. Lots of post-game yaaaay!

Well then if you did you'd know that we aren't even talking about a main series Pokemon game; we're talking about the Mystery Dungeon spin-off series. Also, ORAS has been out for over a month now. Not to mention it's been a solid year or two since the last Mystery Dungeon title. ALSO, no one even made any mention of there being a new game in the works. It's all just speculation and wishlists.

Methinks your reading comprehension skills need some adjustment.

I still want a PMD game for gen 6... I just hope they kinda realize their mistakes that they did with Gates to Infinity with the limited starter choice, Pokedex, no post game, no personality quiz...

Wow, I make one mistake, and you guys are bitches about it. Very nice.

I knew the last Mystery Dungeon was a year ago, and ORAS about one month.

Don't point out my mistakes, unless it has to do with arrangements, it just pisses me off.

ThatGamer, you are in a topic that caters heavily to Pokemon fans. Since you're still new to the forums, you haven't really gained a reputation for sarcasm or joking yet, so this quote could easily piss off fans. Just try to watch how you say things and try to consider how others might interpret it.

HOLY CRAP, YA'LL REMEMBER THE METEOR THAT WAS GOING TO DESTROY THE PLANET IN PMD BLUE/RED RESCUE TEAM!?!?!?

Warning: MAJOR Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Spoilers:
Spoiler
http://www.reddit.com/r/pokemonconspiracies/comments/2pu6rj/the_meteor_from_orass_delta_episode_was_present/

ORAS itself implies that the original R/S/E are still canon, they just take place in an alternative timeline where Mega Evolution and Fairy type don't exist. In the delta episode, when met with danger, the Mosdeep Space Center attempt to simply teleport the meteor to a different part of space and time. They aren't sure where it will land, but it will land far enough away from them that it won't interfere with them again.

Zinnia, meanwhile collects keystones to try and summon Mega Rayquaza to destroy the meteor in a manner that won't affect any other worlds that "may not have the technology" to deal with the situation.

In the end, it turns out that the ORAS protagonist is destined to command Rayquaza to destroy the meteor.

It seems like a straightforward plot until you look into it a bit more.

First of all, what caused this meteor to set path for Hoenn in ORAS but not RSE? The answer is simple, another meteor DID set path for RSE Hoenn, you, the RSE protagonist were just not the one to save it.

In RSE, a major difference is that after retrieving the Meteorite from Team Aqua/Magma, you return it to Professor Cozmo. In ORAS you hold onto it. The scientists wish to use said meteorite's energy to teleport it elsewhere. In RSE, since Cozmo already had the meteorite, you were never called over to the space station. Instead, they succeeded in their plans to teleport the meteor somewhere else.

Why didn't Zinna intervene? Simple, with no mega Rayquaza, she wouldn't be able to change anything. In Emerald, you've already battled Rayquaza by this point and in Ruby and Sapphire Rayquaza sits atop a destroyed Sky Pillar implying that Zinna may have already attempted to destroy it but fail due to Rayquaza being unable to mega evolve.

So what did happen to the meteor the RSE Hoenn teleported away?

Simple, it went to a place nobody expected it to go to. The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon world.

For those not familiar with Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue/Red rescue team, you are a human turned Pokemon destined to save the Pokemon world... from a falling meteor about to impact and destroy the world... Sound familiar? It should do. You scaled Sky Tower to meet Rayquaza atop the clouds who's power you utilise to destroy the meteor. Here's the ending of the main plot of that game for anyone curious.

With your roll as a Pokemon fulfilled you start heading back to your human life until you beg to whatever deity to let you stay a Pokemon.

You know, you never hear the Hoenn protagonist referenced in any games that take place in the future, it's like he went to a completely different world and was forgotten about...

Now I know what you're thinking. Just a coincidence, right? Maybe but an even deeper connection is made. In ORAS, we discover that a Deoxys was intentionally steering that meteor into Hoenn. In post game PMD, a dungeon forms where the broken meteor fragments landed called Meteor Cave... at the bottom of which is a Deoxys which was implied to have been inside that meteor. When Deoxys awakes, it seems very confused as to where it is, almost as if it went off course. You can see that here.

It is of my opinion that the human who got turned into a Pokemon in PMD was the RSE protagonist a short time after all the events of RSE unfolded. Your destiny to destroy that meteor was hard coded across all universes. No matter where it was going to land, fate would make sure you were there to stop it. Therefore you were transformed into a Pokemon to chase after it.

Where is your soul!?

(I've freaking wanted this sort of explanation for how the PMD world and the Pokémon world relate for nearly a DECADE now)

Well, I think it's pretty interesting.

I thought zinnia didn't exist in the other timeline

There's nothing saying she doesn't. Literally every other character exists in the alternate Hoenn, so who's to say Zinnia is the only one that doesn't?

I think it's definitely a cool and interesting way of looking at it.

I rather like that theory, even if it's totally baseless and unofficial.

Funny thing is, I had this idea brewing in my own head of ORAS relating to PMD before finding this theory. Except, in my brain, I had the idea of "what if Zinnia in ORAS let them teleport the meteor? what if Pokémon pulled a Ocarina of Time 3-way timeline split (that is, the 3rd "what if Link failed his quest", ergo "what if Zinnia didn't intervene"). Unfortunately, in my idea and the Zelda chronology, that timeline cannot co-exist with any others, whereas in this theory, they CAN co-exist. And that is a beautiful thing.

I still think they can think of a better Zelda timeline.

Wow, someone else came to that conclusion as well?
My version is even more baseless, though. I kinda feel like Zinnia is the pokemon from PMD and a whismur was somehow her partner. Look at how she treats Aster. Now look at how I treated my partner the first time I replayed the game. "Oh Squirt, you are the most wonderful pokemon. I will protect you from everything and nobody will ever hurt you ever again."
Also, lament of fallen stars sound kind of like Don't ever forget in some parts.
I dunno, but that's the feeling that I got. :P
